Guest Reviews
- Linda (10/5): - I cannot say enough about this gem of a place. It is Old Florida at its best. The staff are wonderful and the rooms are clean. The grounds are tidy with seating to sit and enjoy looking at the bay. They have the spring fed pool that is fun to swim in. We bring our kayak and can tie to the docks. It is so relaxing. The restaurants and shopping are just a short walk.
There are many walking/biking paths and you can even walk/bike to the Three Sisters Wildlife Refuge from the lodge.
If you are looking for a family friendly place to just relax, enjoy the water, and seeing wildlife, this would be a perfect place.
- Kim (10/5): - I love this place! The room was clean and nicely decorated. The pool was awesome!! Can’t wait to go back!
- Jessica (10/5): - Absolute wonderful place. We will be making another trip there soon.
- Charles (10/5): - Great place
- Samantha (10/5): - This property reminded me more of an air bnb style rental with a small full kitchen and all the amenities needed. Very quaint and quiet. Plenty of clothing storage if you plan on staying longer. My only suggestion would be hooks inside the shower for washcloths/bathing suits but also on the walls for hanging towels. We ended up using the hangers from the closet and hanging in the shower. The covered docking area was a little tricky to navigate and our boat got scuffed a little bit with the tides but nothing major. Well worth the money and convenience of local dining, shopping and night life, and to be able to include the boat on our staycation getaway. The ramp is down the road and can pay to park trailer in the property behind the hotel.
- William (10/5): - Kings Bay Lodge was perfect. It was going back in time. Clean, safe easy parking. Staff was polite attentive. Highly recommend King’s Bay Lodge when visiting Crystal River yes we will be back..
- Laurie (10/5): - Eadily accessible to shops, restaurants.
- Denise (10/5): - This is one of our most favorite places in florida! The boat access...The Rooms and most of all the Springfed pool...KBL is simply Amazing...Please never change a thing💙🌴🌞
- Mark (10/5): - Excellent stay. Nice size rooms. Clean. Especially enjoyed access to the boat dock.
- BluebellSwan (10/5): Real Florida vibes - This is our third stay at King's Bay Lodge and we are already planning our next trip. Traveling from the UK to experience the real Florida and this is the best place to do so! Everything is perfect- the location, the rooms, the spring fed pool, beautiful manatees and I also need to mention the lovely Lodge General manager Chancie! Chancie is always very welcoming, friendly, knowledgeable and is fun to talk to!
The room was clean, bed comfy, air con good and we got the room with recliners that we requested
Can't wait to come back!
- Susan (10/5): - Love the large clean room with 2 recliners and a couch. Handy to have a kitchen with dishes and utensils, stove and a large refrigerator with an icemaker. You can walk right out your door and go sit by the water and enjoy the view. We have been here 3 times and will be back.
- Melanie (10/5): - Love the old florida pool
- Gary (10/5): - Nice place
- Megan (10/5): - A treasure that I truly appreciate!
- Juliet (10/5): - Fantastic! Best place to stay in crystal river.
- Debbie (10/5): - I enjoy everything about this motel everytime I visit!
- Don (8/5): - The rooms were perfect. There are no convivences for mobility scooters. I personally would not attempt to use either set of steps into pool. The sidewalks blocked and go nowhere. I guess never rebuilt because of hurricane. In all fairness to the owners, they have done a
wonderful job of rebuilding the motel 5 stars. Just not for mobility scooters
- Patrick (8/5): - Great location!! Right on the water. Spotted manatees from the dock. Half block walk to shops and galleries. It's an efficiency; so there is a small kitchen (though not fully stocked with dishware, we had 1 coffee cup) there was a comfy sofa and chair. Bed was incredibly comfortable although a bit high for this 5'4" gal. Spring fed pool was like swimming off the dock. Definitely going to return.
- Linda J. (10/5): - The lodge has the Old Florida feel and very family friendly. We were able to launch our kayak easily from the boat dock. Kayaking to the Three Sisters Springs is a must see. Also, take the time to kayak around the islands. There is a lot of wildlife. The area also have bike trails that are close by.
- Anne (10/5): - We loved everything about this hotel. We plan on coming back soon!
- Richard (10/5): - The rooms were nice, but could use some improvements to the number/location of power outlets for charging devices. The pool was also nice, but the area around it could use some updates and cleanup.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Newly updated - The room appeared recently updated. It was exceptionally clean and had everything we needed. Our only complaint was the height of the bed. It was too high for a couple of 70 year olds to easily get into.
- Denise (10/5): - Absolutely wonderful!
- S5530RPchrisd (10/5): Loved this place - Awesome little remodeled motel. Super friendly and helpful staff. We had an amazing stay at this place. They texted us on our way there to let us know that what room we had and that the keys were on the dresser, no need to check in. Next door is the Crab trap that has really good and reasonably priced seafood.
- Ernest (10/5): - Fantastic place to stay. As one patron stated, “it doesn’t get any better than this.” Full size fridge was a HIGE plus. We were able to refreeze our ice blocks and enjoy a home cooked breakfast on the road! The grounds are beautiful. The spring fed pool is super interesting. The staff was amazing.
- Jeanine (10/5): - We had a kayak trailer. Since it was small, they allowed us to park it in a separate spot of an unused room number was available.
The renovation was very well done, loved the beds, decorations, etc. AND a full kitchen. We would have loved to stay longer.
- susan (10/5): - The property was charming, old Florida.
- Jenna (10/5): - I just loved everything about my stay at King’s Bay Lodge. It was like a visit to Florida when
It was still super cool but not so hectic. I plan to come back and bring my family!
- Jorge (10/5): Great and beautiful place! - The Location is fantastic over looking the spring, great place if your bringing your boat to dock it right on property, you can also walk to everything they have to offer downtown! The room was beautiful, comfy, and big! Would love to come back very soon.
- Gary (10/5): - Great place close to everything absolutely no complaints
- Julie (10/5): - Very clean, seems newly renovated except for the kitchenette. Walkable to a couple good restaurants.
- William (10/5): Great Valur - Rebuilt from the hurricane this place is brand new and a “gem”… we will be back!
- Q7401IWlh (10/5): 5 stars+ - Friendly staff, great location, beautiful grounds right on the river, and an awesome, awesome pool! The room was clean and modern with a handy kitchenette. Easy walking distance to town, parks, dive shops, and great restaurants. Can't wait to return!
- CanuckAlberta (10/5): KBL Perfect - Recently spent 5 nights at King's Bay Lodge and we loved it. Older motel style accommodation but our unit was totally renovated since hurricane Idalia damage last fall. Awesome location right on King's Bay so great access for boating or kayaking. Walking distance to Citrus Ave, where there are tons on stores, coffee shops, and restaurants, and only a few blocks from cross town trail as well. Cool spring fed pool, friendly staff and a very laid back atmosphere, the only thing it is lacking is BBQ's. (they only have charcoal grills) We really enjoyed our stay.
- pattyc813 (8/5): Best Place Ever for Family Reunion - Love this place. I really would like to keep it a secret. I grew up in central Florida and have seen major changes to our community. It is so nice to be able to find a place like Kings Lodge to remind me of what life used to be like. My husband and I took our grown children and their spouses for a family outing. They were born and raised here so for them to also appreciate old Florida was nice to see. Bring your coffee and filters to make a cup of joe to sit out in the pavilion and enjoy the morning.
- I3647CLlouism (10/5): Great place - Great location, very clean, nice big rooms. We will book here from now on. Can't compliment the place enough. Great Restaurants within easy walking distance. Full size refrigerator, complete kitchen. Couch, recliner, king size bed.
- Patricia S (8/5): Very user friendly - Great place to be on the river. Staff was great and the room was very comfortable and clean.
- X9332FNsuzym (10/5): Old Florida Lodge that oozes charm - If you like old Florida charm, this is your place. This place oozes charm. It is clean, well managed, and makes you feel like you stopped in to visit friends. Everything from the comfortable beds to the comfortable recliner chairs to the full size kitchen is inviting.
We came to Crystal River to be outside, exploring the different water activities and great restaurants and shops, but we didn’t mind when we got rained out and stayed in our room for part of the day because it was so comfortable.
I am heading back up to Crystal River in mid August, bringing a group of friends to go scallop diving. We will be renting three separate rooms at Kings Bay Lodge, and will do a picture update of the different rooms during that stay.
- O3984WArogerb (10/5): Great experience - Enjoyed our stay very much. Room was very comfortable. Nice being able to sit outside. Lots of green grass and chairs. Right by the water. Easy check in and out. Boat docks right by the rooms. Would like to go back with our boat.
- I5647LVmaryb (10/5): Old Florida at it's finest. - We have stayed here multiple times and it just gets better. Super nice check in. Beautiful place. We enjoyed being able to walk to restaurants and bars and parks. A slice of Old Florida that's vanishing. Super spacious room.
- terriaZ1604FF (10/5): Most relaxing trip - We love Kings Bay! We go every year of possible. My husband was taken there yearly as a child growing up. It's so relaxing. We love it's on the water and love the natural pool. The staff is always very friendly and accomodating. We will return!
- Agatha (10/5): Great place - This place was great. Kept up nicely and great views. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Will stay here again.
- Extraordinary298731 (10/5): Good place, great value. - Traveller from UK, second visit great place to stay. Clean spacious rooms in great location Kitchen well equipped with large fridge freezer.Great value for money highly recommend. Well placed for local attractions and good restaurants. Hopefully will return in the future, love the area.
- amyh894 (10/5): 10/10! Highly recommend! - Room was spacious and clean. Property is beautiful and well kept. The bay is gorgeous at sunset. You can see manatees off the boat dock! The pool was unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Staff and maintenance guy were cool! This is a cool place with cool people running it!
- Speckul8r (10/5): Terrific As Usual - We've been staying at least the last 6 years because we love it. This year, we had more Manatees than ever before come right up to the piers for a visit.
Room was clean and well cared for. The staff are always helpful and accommodating. Already booked next year's trip.
- L960MIjamesb (10/5): Surprisingly Great - Wonderful location, great staff. The kitchen was just right. A gem compared to a normal modern hotel. Location location location! We were able to ride our bikes everywhere we wanted to go. Just a great getaway from our main trip in Destin.
- srengles (10/5): Loved it ! - What an amazing find! Our kids swam in the natural pool - YES NATURAL POOL - for hours. It was fun to see fish in the crystal clear water. We will bring our boat next time as they have plenty of dock spaces. We were able to swim with manatees right off the dock … other people were paying $70 per person to go on a tourist boat for that.
Such a great location - in waking distance to town for food , three sisters springs , and hunter springs beach .
Full size appliances - comfy bed
Loved it and will be back !
- richardhs2015 (10/5): The real "Old Florida" experience! - My 2nd time at King's Bay, thoroughly enjoyed the overnight stay on our way thru the area. Wife and daughter spent a few days there a couple of years ago enjoying the kyacking experience and exploring Crystal River. Enjoyed it so much we're considering a longer stay on one of semiannual trips to S. FL. Accommodating, friendly staff, clean and inviting; comfortable place to stay. Hard to understand why this establishment isn't rated higher.
- W1408DNheatherh (10/5): The Hidden Gem - This is our 4th year at this hidden gem! We love it so much! The staff is fantastic, pool is amazing, views are breathtaking, and food/ drink are in walking distance!
10/10 stars every time❤️
Close to parks for kids as well!
- PattiH720 (10/5): Lovely Lodge - My husband and I had a relaxing peaceful time at King's Bay Lodge. Spacious and comfortable accommodations. The full kitchen, separate space for bathroom and closet, convenient front and back door to unit made this rental ideal for us. The Lodge is in an excellent location for easy access to the downtown area and right next door to an outstanding restaurant The Crab Plant. Both Kings Bay Park and Hunter's Springs Park are extremely close. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go, however I would recommend renting a golf cart if you plan on staying longer because the neighborhood is golf cart friendly and there are a couple excellent restaurants (Water Front Social and Seafood Seller) that you might prefer to "drive" to even though they are both less than a mile away. We will DEFINYELY be back and hopefully able to stay longer!
- rjslong (10/5): Excellent - This lodge is a lovely step back in time. From the single level motel structure, the trees with hanging moss to the historic natural Florida swimming pool. The inside of each motel room was updated, clean and very roomy. Everyone in our group throughly enjoyed their stay. I highly recommend it.
- Adventure40551272931 (10/5): Perfect Weekend Getaway - King’s Bay Lodge was a fantastic stay, very clean, friendly, and a bargain. Walking distance to everything. Crystal River was beautiful little town with lots to do and see. Wish we had booked a longer stay on our road trip so we could’ve spent more than two days..definitely will visit again.
- sophia (10/5): - I liked stuff
- Jeff (10/5): - Guests seem to be regulars and it was a very friendly /
Family atmosphere.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect location - Perfect location. Right on King's Bay. Easy drives to Homosassa river and the Chassahowitzka. Within walking distance or short drive of superb eateries. We loved Amy's on the Avenue and Seller's Seafood. Old school motel but with boat launch/pier and a nowhere else to be found natural fresh water swimming pool with (small) fish swimming in from the bay. Able to park outside your room. Don't expect too much from the accommodations however. The room is actually a studio with full kitchen but shows its age, except our bathroom is brand new. Friendly and helpful staff. Will stay again.
- Edward (10/5): - A well located and inexpensive place to stay in a trip to Crystal River
- jeannine (10/5): - Very nice, clean, and spacious. Highly recommend!!

- Marco (10/5): Excellent ! - Everything was wonderful!!
- BEVERLY (10/5): - comfortable bed and lazy boys. Great location
- sidney (4/5): - rooms need a good detailed cleaning, upgrade on tv quality and reverse cycle hvac system very noisy. Good point was staff helpful but working with what appears to be short staff and needed upgrades.
- Deb (10/5): - Very clean room, close to restaurants and stores.
- Howard (8/5): Nice stay - Pipe broke in a room next to us, but we were fortunate enough to not need to use bathroom before checking out.
The accommodations were great, we felt bad that happened to the establishment.
- Andrew (10/5): - very spacious, clean and great stay
- karin (10/5): - love kings bay lodge. right on the water. spacious rooms and i love the Motor Lodge vibe of the place.
- Louise A. (10/5): - It is a lovely placid quiet place
- karin (10/5): - i love the location of this cute motor lodge style motel. i always bring my paddle board with me and this is the perfect place to stay to hop on the water steps from your door. there are a few decent restaurants within walking distance.
- Sally (10/5): - Ease of putting a kayak in the water was awesome!! Didn't have to drive to or pay any "extra" to do so. No room for visitor parking - i didn't have any this time but its a place that would be nice to have additional friends or family stop by.
- Jean (6/5): - Very noisy, but otherwise good
- Douglas (8/5): - The location is perfect. The spring fed pool was unique but I wasn’t going in. The room was spacious and clean
- Mary (10/5): - Nice clean rooms,great pool,great view of water and
- Lisa (10/5): Perfect - It was absolutely amazing. The cleanest place I have ever stayed
- James (8/5): - Very Quiet and clean. Nice bed and very roomy.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Our room was almost exactly like the one pictured on the website - ours was red, white and blue and very "Americana". Bed was super comfortable, chairs reclined, bath was tiled and shower with hand held, fully outfitted kitchenette. We walked in and it made us smile
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful property! Very nice and relaxing. Great rooms!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Hard beds - Room was clean, amenities in the room, parking right in front. Only complaint the bed was very hard and sheets were rough. Thankfully it was a quick over night passing through but we will do more research next time.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This property was excellent. A hidden gem on all accounts. The swimming pool was a spring and just wonderful. The rooms were comfortable, decorated so nice, very clean with more than enough room for four people. The grounds were perfect with under cover grills and picnic tables. They provide towels for the pool area and docking for under 28ft boats. No trailer parking on the grounds but there is parking off site. The place was so quiet, relaxing and right on the river. All outside grounds and pool area were immaculate. Staff were so friendly and helpful and provided any info on things around town. Their room rates were more than fair with all they had to offer. We will be back!!!!!
- Donna (10/5): Great place to stay in Crystal River - Very nice rooms.. ours had a full size fridge, stove, microwave, and king size bed. It was also very nicely furnished and decorated. It’s walking distance to lots of restaurants and little quaint shops. It’s located right on the water and the spring fed pool is amazing! We will def stay here again!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Awesome place. Will definitely be back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location. Room was updated and very clean.
- NANCY (10/5): Nice place to stay - Great low key location and accommodations. Clean, safe, right in town to walk to places and waterfront. Nice. Kind of old fashioned but nice.
- NANCY (10/5): Great little motel. - Great place as a base camp for day outings in the area. Full size fridge and kitchen was best for eating in. Interesting natural pool.
Only downside was the wifi was intermittent and slow.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kings Bay Lodge. We’ll stay there again! Casual, communal atmosphere. Recently, beautifully removal, new mattresses. Given the times we were impressed with their Covid policy.
The outdoor space includes cook out areas, shaded pavilion, a lovely view of Kings Bay & a natural spring swimming pool with a slide. FIVE STARS !!!
- Cathy (10/5): nice hotel - This is wonderful small hotel, clean and convenient location. Staff is friendly
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We loved the laid back open feel of the entire place! We even saw manatees right off the boat docks and the Florida pool looks magical and we cannot wait to visit in the warmer months for a longer stay! This is one of those special places you can visit alone, a second honeymoon, and even a family experience! Easily walkable to shopping and parks as well. Really this place is a magical gem we will visit again and again!
- Kristina (10/5): Well worth the money - This old Florida motel is in a great location, walking distance to everything. It’s not much to look at on the outside, but inside the rooms are very large suites with comfortable furniture, nice tv and small kitchenettes. We will definitely stay here again when we come back to this area.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This quaint waterfront motel was so appealing! The tastefully furnished room included a fully equipped kitchen with a full stove and oven. In addition, a grill was available outside for all to use and there was a warm spring-fed pool with crystal clear water. The location was ideal, a block from the center of town, and walking distance to the Three Sisters Springs and public parks! We look forward to staying here again!
- Jocie (10/5): Perfect retreat - What a wonderful chilled get away-rooms were clean and roomy with a wonderful little kitchen stocked with utensils/etc. The rooms our group had were updated and very homey nice. Great TV for the guys to watch Bowl games haha. Perfect location to just drop your paddle board or kayak in-hoses to wash everything off-so easy and convenient. Walking distance to anywhere we wanted to go. We had a wonderful little get away!
- Glenn D (10/5): - The hotel Kings Bay is old but the room was fairly modern and very clean. The only downside was that you really couldn't launch kayaks from the hotel. We launched at Kings Bay Park.
- James (10/5): - The property was extra clean, right on the water and near to great restaurants. The management were very friendly, helpful and always available. A great stay!
- Denise (10/5): Njce stay - Very nice place. On the canal. Booked for the natural spring pool. Little chilly to get in to enjoy but really cool. Very comfy bed and clean room. Stocked with all necessities .
- Juan (10/5): - The location and property type was ideal given the current pandemic. The suite was large, very comfortable, and walking distance to the springs, shops and restaurants. We will definitely stay here again!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great “old” Florida motel...we enjoyed the history of the lodge and the surrounding area.
- James (10/5): - It was very good.. clean and comfortable... very quiet.
- Madison (10/5): Ultimate Getaway - We were more than pleasantly surprised by how wonderful King's Bay Lodge was to stay. The rooms are freshly re-done with beautiful décor. It was very clean. The location is also unbeatable. Right on the water for beautiful sunsets, but also a block off of the main street of downtown. Once we parked the car when we arrived, we didn't have to move it again all weekend. Very relaxing spot.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very nice and charming. - Even though the room is a bit older, it was very charming. During the time of Covid, the older furniture made us a little uneasy and we didn’t know the process for cleaning. Close to a lot of things. Again, any other time and we may have been less picky so we recognize that. But def worth staying there.
- Lynette (10/5): - Nice kayak launch, natural spring fed swimming pool, conveniently located near Three Sisters Springs and the Crystal River
- Barbara (10/5): Best place ever - ABSOLUTELY AMAZING STAY. STAFF WAS WONDERFUL. VIEW WAS THE BESTBEST PLACE EVER
- Susan (8/5): - We had a good time , but they stay was to short.
