Guest Reviews
- thomasvochten (8/5): Super friendly & helpful staff, decent accomodation - Stayed in this hotel for two nights during a Herzegovina wine tour with friends. Accomodation is decent but rather basic, super friendly and helpful staff, basic breakfast (did not have dinner). I can highly recommend visiting the family's nearby winery too! Of course they serve their wines at the hotel too.
- Delia (6/5): - The towels are warn, stained and tattered. They definitely need new towels.
- Matt (8/5): Perfect location - This is a rustic hotel right in the center of all things medgugorie..location perfect..room vvv basic..no frills however it had very comfortable beds and duvets..rooms would need updating but again it was vvvvv clean...we stayed 2 nights and our room wasnt cleaned..we asked several times for it to be done..but it wasnt...had to ask at reception 2nd day for towels. Breakfast is a free for all...no structure...we had to sit with strangers...not good. Its a cold cut breakfast ie hams cheese etc with scramble eggs..done the job...would stay here again as the lady who owns it is really luvly and the welcome gift appreciated.
- 681richarde (4/5): Cannot see how it merits four stars, lacking amenities. - How this hotel merits 4 stars is beyond comprehension, it is on a par with a Travel Lodge or similar. No fridge, phone, balcony in the rooms, hardly any seating in the very small bar area. Poor choice of food at both dinner and breakfast. A few tables and chairs on the pavement. Apparently there is a roof terrace, but as I was only there for one night, I did not use it , or see any directions to it.
The attraction of this hotel is the churches and religious statues nearby, to which many Catholics make pilgrimages, but if you are not religious there is little to take you here.
I had a seriously dangerous experience here. On the landings there is a motion activated light, which is dim, and as you get further away from it, it becomes difficult to even see room numbers, and it soon goes out. When I left my room to go down, the lift was stuck on a lower floor. I searched for stairs and at first could not find them in the darkness. When I eventually did locate them it was stepping into pitch darkness, totally unlit. I had to feel my way down to the next floor, narrowly avoiding a fall, where there was some dim lighting. Why not a motion activated light here?
What you are not told, is that, on the wall, beside the sensor to which you present your card to unlock your door, there is a switch which activates further lighting. If you haven't been told, and can hardly see, how are you supposd to know? When I asked others in our party, none were aware.
My bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was fine, but I am pleased that I was only spending one night here.
- R5912AQcarolc (10/5): Medjiugorie - It was a magical week enhanced by this lovely family hotel: amazing people.. Wonderful location, divine wine (i bought 3 Red Caberney).. Very very clean and sapcious room.. and mostly feels like home.
Medjugorieh next visit will surely be there.
Til very soon deareat Ivana
- lee (10/5): - What an experience from booking and communicating to staying and feeling like family.
Ivana was very diligent in helping us when questions arose. We had a Mario waiting for us at the bus station and drove to the border to get out lost luggage. Nicoli greeted us our first night and spent time with us tasting/explaining wine from the family winery. Which was excellent. The room was clean and quiet. Breakfast was great and honestly felt like family. For our first time in Herzegovina, coming from the USA it was seamless( except for our luggage being delayed 2 days)! The location was excellent and walkable to the main church and services.
Upon leaving we went to split, Croatia and happened upon a wine cellar tasting. We actually got to meet Andreas the owner of the winery and hotel and felt so blessed to have had the encounter. When we go back to Medjugorje, we will not hesitate to go back to this hotel.
Thank you family Caserica!!!
Ivana, Nicoli, Nicolina, Matte, and Andreas!!! 🙏🙏🕊❤️
You all made our trip amazing!
- pierronzollo (8/5): Good enough - This is a very new, clean and well-appointed hotel. Centrally located for a drive to Apparition Hill or a a very pleasant 10 minute walk to St. James Church. Rooms a bit overheated, and no chance to change the temperature, apart from opening the windows. TV reception is quite poor, but wifi is good. Halls are very dark. Breakfast is minimalist but decent fare. On site parking free but limited.
- LuisI765 (10/5): Likely the best place to stay in Medjugorje - Medjugorje is obviously not a tourist destination, but if you are visiting for the right reasons (faith) Cesarica is hard to beat; this is the fourth time we visit Medjugorje and our third stay at this wonderful place, family-run by wonderful people. The location is excellent, some 250 yards away from where the main services are held, along a green and lit path (very helpful at night, as the Medjugorje nights are dark). It is neither a luxury hotel nor a spa (except for the soul) but its 4 stars are well-deserved; rooms are large and spotlessly clean, breakfast is very good and dinner is excellent -and abundant! It is home cooking, but very high quality -by far the best meals we've had in town (and quite a few other towns). To boot, the family runs the best cellar in the area -we're particularly fond of the red Blatinka premium- and at bargain prices! The staff is incredibly nice and helpful in all respects -they clearly form part of the spirit of Medjugorje! Their prices with half-pension (breakfast and dinner included) are a real bargain, especially considering their quality. Espresso machines ensure good coffee at any time, and the nice bar offers a good selection of beverages.
- Anne-France (10/5): Awesome experience - Awesome experience. Very friendly staff. Their wine is really good.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We liked everything. The food, the room and the hosts!
- arvid59 (4/5): Basic hotel - A very basic hotel with no frills. The room did not even have a telephone, fridge or kettle for tea / coffee. Dinner in the restaurent was also very basic, and so was the breakfast. The aircon could not be adjusted.
- Kim (8/5): - A comfortable and pleasant stay, special thanks to Emma, Martin, Brano and Nikola. The last time we visited, our room did not have a TV but this time, it was furnished with a TV with local channels and some English programming. Like the new buffet style presentation for dinner, very open and spacious, pity that the half carafe of house wine which was previously complimentary with dinner is now only available for order off a wine/drinks menu. This was one of the unique and memorable aspects of the wine hotel concept and experience. The array of dishes and culinary offerings for breakfast and dinner have expanded and are quite tasty, but are not varied as before since menu combinations are repeated throughout the week and desserts were limited. Wine is included with lunch, but dessert is not anymore. There was plentiful fare when large tour groups were inhouse, but this scaled down significantly when the groups left. On mornings, the tour groups devoured most of the breakfast items, exhausting the eggs and juice and leaving only bits of cheese and cold cuts of ham. On one night after the departure of the groups, dinner consisted of plain white rice and hamburger patties, without the customary soup/starter or dessert, which was a little on the dry side minus sauce or veggies. The atmosphere in Medjugorje is eerily quiet for winter and the pace considerably slower, perhaps the place is missing the animated laughter and conversation of former manager Dado Primoric.
- Isaura (10/5): - For a 3 Starling hotel this súper. The staff is the best. They acommodate all your requests. The shortcut to the Church Isaura very convenient. The food is very Good. Family run hotel makes it very cozy
- H3142YPkims (8/5): Pleasant stay. - I was part of a group that went on a pilgrimage to Medjugore. We stayed at this hotel and it was just great! The family that owns the hotel were wonderful and the rooms were simple and clean. The mirrors in the bathrooms are set a little too high for people under 5'6''. The food was nutritious and delicious. I would stay here again on a future visit.
- nancygtfoot (10/5): Nice place to stay, close to St. James - Lovely hotel in Medjugorje close to St. James Church, the Resurrection Jesus and the Stations of the Cross. Meals were very good and the people were most welcoming and helpful. Very clean and large, lovely rooms. Seems quite new. Close to everything.
- Clement (10/5): Comfy. - Comfy and overall nice place with helpful staff.
- Luiz (10/5): - Property located very close to the cathedral. Manager very friendly. Good wine.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This hotel has best staff in Medjugorje. They all are very nice and ready to accomodate your every wish
- Annie (8/5): Wine Hotel Cesarica - This is a fantastic little gem in Herzegovina, cosy, clean and well maintained. Our room was comfortable and tidy, I slept so well that I did not even miss the TV in the room. The views look out to neighbouring properties, fields and the nearby church, and the sunsets were spectacular. Our meals were delightful - freshly prepared and served with much care and attention, not to mention the hotel's own locally produced wines which accompanied lunch and dinner. All the sights are within easy reach, a short walk or taxi ride away. I would especially like to commend the professional and hospitable staff at this family-run property - Brano, Ivan and Ivana. Despite our tiring schedule, we could always look forward to their warm welcome, our hot and sumptuous meals, and our comfy beds to rest and relax. Fantastic.
- Richard (10/5): First time visit - Exceptional personal attention to our needs.
Restaurant food great & professional service.
Our room could have used more hanging for towels. Overall a big thumbs up and thank you to Wine Hotel Cesarica — highly recommendable. Would definitely stay again.
- Analia (10/5): great hotel 5 minutes walking distance to church - My family, and I loved the hotel. The staff had exceptional customer service with us. Everyone was so kind and attentive with us. We could not have picked a better hotel. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, and when we visit Medjugorje in the future we will be staying here again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Disappointed at no boiling water,to make tea, in the dining room.
The water machine only despensed luke warm water.
- teresan874 (8/5): Great starting point for Medugorje - Perfect place for experiencing all Medugorje has to offer. Really close to the church and walking dinstance of Krizevac and Podbrdo. Location is also very quiet. All staff are kind and helpfull. Perfect home base for Medugorje.
- Ernesto (10/5): A little further but worth it - The réception at the hotel for arrival is first class being received warmly by the owner and staff. The hotel is beautiful and allows the experience of the region's other expertise, wines. It has a well kept shortcut right to the church where most activities would be in town as well.
- Pam (10/5): Good location for the Church - Everything was as expected. Room size, and comfort of beds were both very good.
Staff always at hand, and ready to help.
Would stay there again.
- kala (10/5): Fantastic place - Amazing staff with fantastic service. Service was above and beyond .very kind and well manned. Should come back
- S.W. from NJ (10/5): Great hotel - We had a wonderful time while staying in this hotel. The best was the manager called Dado. He made our stay very memorable. The hotel is about 400m from the church. It is clean and spacious.
- lovemaui32724 (10/5): Wonderful - This clean, comfortable hotel is only a 4 to 5 minute walk behind St. James. Ivanna and staff were friendly and helpful. They are locals and have spiritual insights that kept our pilgrimage in a prayerful atmosphere.
Food and drink were plentiful as well as smiles.
Cost is more reasonable than we found another hotel. It was only 25 euros/per person and includes breakfast and dinner.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Fabulous staff!
- Patrick (10/5): Hotel Cesarica is an ideal choice for Medjugorje - Really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Cesarica, Dado and all staff made us welcome and were very helpful. Excellent breakfast. Room was clean and fresh and a good size. Very comfortable.
- davidpF4810LA (10/5): peace & wine - A great hotel in this holy town. Very clean and extremely friendly with compfy bed and very good wine plus great walks and views and very close to the church and spiritual life of the town. A very quiet hotel with a posh feel!
- H6287RTsandrap (10/5): SPLENDID WINE HOTEL - Incredible boutiqe hotel in the center of Međugorje with excelent wines and fancy rooms. Nice continental breakfast and helpful personal with a lot of tips for Međugorje. Easy acces to the St. James church, just couple minutes. I will be back.
- 678matejc (10/5): OUTSTANDING WINE HOTEL CESARICA - Everything was outstanding. Nice modern rooms, very clean and fancy. Personal always at disposal, the very best wines I had in Međugorje. Incredible peaceful position just couple minutes walk distance from the St. James church
- mbpaul1987 (10/5): Just outstanding!!! - If you are in Medjugorjie this is the place to stay. We stayed here for just one night on a quick trip to Medjugorjie. We wish we could have stayed longer. It was a wonderful experience, great staff and super comfortable beds. Very close to the church and centre of town.
- JordiPaFran (10/5): Congratulations - We've spent two weeks in this wonderful hotel. All staff are very helpful ( the girls at front desk, the manager and in the restaurant a guy called Ivan Planicic). Thanks to this wonderful staff we spent the best holidays ever. Beds were very very confortable, the food is very tasty. We felt so confortable that we decided to come back from Dubrovnik to this hotel again. They made us feel like if we belonged to their family. We will definetely come back again without hesitation and I recommend this hotel to everybody who want to visit this holy town Medjugorje. Hvala puno ( thanks in Croatian. I even learnt some words in Croatian with the amazing staff).
