Guest Reviews
- Girlie (8/5): - It was good for the price snd very close to restaurants and shops.
- William (6/5): - Got good poisoning at the restaurant connected to the hotel. Bathroom had mold and water leaked under the glass door all on the floor. Great location.
- Ana (4/5): - Location is great.. walking distance to Thomas Beach, market and many restaurants. The room itself was dated. WiFi was poor. No fridge, no hair dryer, no extra toilet paper. The shower and toilet are all in one room so on top of the humidity already, any humidity from the shower dampens any toilet paper or towels. We had to ask for fresh towels daily ( they don’t just restock).. same with cleaning - your room only gets cleaned if you ask which is fine most times, but not when you are located on sandy beaches. The beds were quite hard. And did I mention no fridge or coffee pot? Warm water for everyone! The pool looks fine until you step in .. cracked tiles on the pool floor. As much as the location is great, I would not recommend staying here again.
- Jay (6/5): - Limited lobby entrance space. Noisy surroundings
- Queen (10/5): - We had a really fantastic stay here. Although we will say that the first run that we were put in did have a really funky strange smell and so we did ask to be changed to another room and they really swiftly changed us to a new room. This showed really good customer service, which was greatly appreciated. But it was strange that the other room had such a strong smell. I don’t know how to explain the smell, but it was just very overpowering of something anyways once we remove to our new room with no extra charger, which is great we had an awesome stay. It is a really central area near lots of restaurants and a market down the street. And also walkable was the view of the ocean and if you walked down a bunch of stairs, you could see a little Cove inlet that a lot of people went surfing at. Super accessible to use grab or gojek to book a car. So overall of your great experience.
- Jack (8/5): - Location
Set back rooms quiet
- Ximena (10/5): - Nice area
- Rebecca (6/5): - We had an excellent stay at Ashana. It’s in a great location and has an amazing restaurant next to the hotel. The property condition is very run down. The bathroom had a leaky tap and the shower had next to no water pressure with no hot water. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
- Ivy (8/5): - The location is great, and the bed was really comfortable, which made for a pleasant stay. The pool area was a highlight—perfect for relaxing. However, the bathroom could use some attention, as there was a bit of a smell, and the door was difficult to open and close due to being broken. Additionally, there was a small leak in the faucet. With a few minor fixes, this place would be even better.
- Angel (6/5): - Staff were friendly, and room itself was decent however the washroom (plumbing/sewer system) has a terrible smell which isn't uncommon around the area but it is not great. Convient location however.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Notch above a back packers - Good location but a really run down hotel which is a notch above a backpackers.
Rooms were tired, bathrooms functional but gross and linens and pillows pretty old. The owners (wherever they are) should think ahead given this stretch of Uluwatu is about to boom- they're sitting on a gold mine!
We came knowing what to expect, so if you're in that frame of mind it's probably doable; just book somewhere nice after your stay!
- Julia (10/5): - amazing location cold AC and hot shower this place is perfect and the pool was awesome.
- Rebecca (8/5): - The property is located in such a great location. The staff were super friendly and accommodating. The bathroom is a little old and the shower needs work. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again. It was a great price and great location!
- Paul (6/5): A beautiful pool in a very basic hotel - When I first arrived and got taken to my room, what hit me straight away was how nice the pool was.
That was about as good as it got though really.
Although the bed was comfortable, the rooms need some tlc and the Carousels need a seriously clean.
I stayed for 6 nights and my room didn’t get cleaned once. I had to ask for additional towels otherwise I would have had to use tie same ones every day.
It’s in a decent location with a short walk to beach and is reasonably priced.
Just needs some looking after.
- Gary (6/5): - Great showers
Rooms didn’t look like what we booked.Got the old rooms I think
- Nicole (6/5): - Okay. Room smelt off. Power went off multiple times in our first day luckily they fixed on the second day. Breakfast was good! Close to single fin and some nice restaurants
- Shannon (10/5): - Lovely property with great staff. Nice pool and good connected restaurant, as well as other options nearby. Room and bed were comfortable and AC worked well. Walkable to Uluwatu cliff and short scoot to everything else on the Bukit. Great, quiet area if you want to get away from the hustle bustle of Kuta/Seminyak/Canggu areas. I would definitely stay here again.
- Udo (4/5): Overpriced and under-maintained hotel room - (a) On check-in at 16h00, the room was not ready. A free ice-tea was offered;
(b) In the bathroom, the grouting for the lower shower tiles are stained - it looks unclean. See first and second images;
(c) Pipe under hand basin was broken and water flowed onto the bathroom floor;
(d) Some bathroom floor tiles were either broken or cracked - see third image;
(e) The TV electrical cord cannot reach it socket;
(f) One electrical plug point is positioned 30cm from the ceiling. One cannot reach it (even by standing on one's toes);
(g) The hotel room is advertised as 'soundproof' - this was not the case. Music could be heard on all nights during my stay;
(h) The hotel room is poorly designed. For example, there are no side lamps adjacent to the bed. In order to switch off the lights, one must walk to the other side of the entrance door; and
(i) During my stay, the shower water was never hot - the was only tepid.
(j) The bed was comfy.
- George (8/5): - This property is amazing for anyone who is looking to explore the area of Uluwatu! The location is perfect and in walking distance to some of the best restaurants, I’d recommend District 6 and Suka expresso. The beaches are all extremely close and can all be visited within two days. I didn’t rent a scooter and managed to do it so if you are able to get a scooter then you will access everything with ease from this area! The staff were extremely attentive, letting us check our bags in early and helped us arrange transport. The air conditioning was one of the best I’ve had in Bali.
If you are looking to spend time at the pool and relax for a few hours in the hotel then I’d recommend somewhere else, this is perfect for people travelling and being used as a base!
- Paul (10/5): - Great holiday and staff are awesome
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great staff great food great place to stay. Very good aircon
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The room was nice, with a private front courtyard. The receptionist/waitress was great, I am not sure when she slept as she was always helping people early morning to late night.
- Vincent (8/5): - The room was nice and clean, shower and bathroom was large and the AC worked perfectly. The grounds aren't extensive but are well maintained and the staff is very accomodating and friendly. The only slightly negative thing was lack of refrigerator in the room. Other than that, the location is perfect for surfing Uluwatu and Padang Padang. Will definitely stay there again and would recommend to friends as a great lower to mid range price option.
- Serge (10/5): - Staff very kind and helpful. Thank you for everythings!
Hotel near beach, good spot for surfing.
- Verified traveler (10/5): One night stay - Very nice and clean room and pool area. Reception and check in was quick and helpful. The adjoining restaurant was yummy with very reasonable prices.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It is a nice hotel and well located. The staff is very nice.
- Elaine (8/5): Comfortable enough - Area is quite far from anything other than the suluban beach area. We walked to the uluwatu temple but the road is very windy and not worth walking overall. Stray dogs were not very friendly in the area. Perks were accessibility to the beach and pubs around there, and great local restaurant nearby. Room has good strong AC, but bathrooms were sub par - they need to work on removing mold from the ceilings. Staff overal very nice and accommodating. The restaurant is delicious there! The pool is small but pretty. There were a lot of power outages and hot water shortage when we were there in December... Not very impressed with that. Bed was comfortable. Phone in the room didn't even work. Overall very average, you get what you pay for!
- Jana (6/5): You get what you pay for - Hotel was ok but dated, fine for the discounted price we paid, breakfast inclusion was limited to toast and fruit - next time would not pay extra to include it (we went elsewhere). Room was very basic - bed, good tv, aircon worked well but very noisy, very basic bathroom, shower head was terrible but temperature was ok, outdoor seating area - fine for just a place to sleep. No safe or fridge in room, nice small pool, lounges could do with replacement. Service was very average. Good location walking distance to Single Fin, some good restaurants/cafes and Padang Padang beach (beautiful beach, great for swimming!). wifi was good but had to reconnect every time you unlocked your device.
- Jamie (10/5): Location location location - Awesome location. Walking distance to uluwatu. Nice pool. Toilets and bathrooms were a little rough
- Sarah (4/5): Dirty sheets smelly room - This hotel was an utter disappointment. We had arranged airport transfer with the hotel a week before arriving. When we arrived, we spent 30 minutes looking for our driver in the airport. Needless to say, he was not there and we had to get a taxi for a more expensive price. In addition, when we tried calling the hotel to ask about our driver, the phone line was disconnected. When we got to our room, there was a terrible smell that never left. Our sheets had a lot of stains all over them. When we ask for a change of sheets, they said yes but yet never changed them. We spent the 2 nights sleeping on top of the comforter. There was no natural light in the room and it was miserable to be in. The only redeeming characteristic of the hotel would be the pool.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good location, bit run down - 1) Hotel has lovely pool at a good temperature but day beds are very hard (need a pillow)
2) Excellent location, only 5-10 minute walk to Single Finn
3) The standard deluxe room we initially had booked smelt extremely horrible (sewerage smell) so asked to go into another room and charged $20 AUD extra a night for a much larger room with private courtyard (good for couples)
4) Rooms require maintenance repairs in lights, cupboard door fell off, lights flickering, bathroom slightly run down and rusting in areas. Shower head in our suite had no pressure.
Overall you get what you pay for and the hotel was good for a 3 night stay. Would recommend to others given its worth the value and in good location. If you're after something easy, cheap and simple with a nice area to sit by pool go for it. Suited more for backpackers rather than high rollers of Seminyak.
- Johan (8/5): Quiet hotel close to surfing paradise - Friendly staff and good location with walking distance to single fin and the amazing suka restaurant
- Steiner (8/5): Location, Location - Value for money, nice, clean hotel, location is great, close by scooter to all the good beaches, and temple, also very close to Single Fin Bar, famous for Sunday Sessions, scooter hire next door, but don't pay more than 200.000 rupiah for 2 x scooters for 2 days, will stay again when back in Uluwatu, also just after Dreamland beach, there police stop, if they wave you down, just keep going, otherwise they sting you for 500.000 rupiah each
- Melinda (8/5): Nice stay - Quite a nice hotel in a quiet street but not too far from the beach. The pool was really nice and quite warm and the restaurant next door was open late so easy to get a bite to eat when arriving from a late flight! Our room was comfortable (bed was quite firm depending on your general preferences) with some stains on the sheets which is always a little bit of a let down but it was right opposite the pool which was lovely to wake up to. Our tv didn't work but we weren't too concerned as we were only there for one night. Overall is was a nice stay and we would probably go back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent hotel by the beach, I loved it! - They were courteous and the rooms nice and clean, it is not a resort but it is a nice quaint little place were you can relax and walk to the beach.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Not what I was expecting at all. Bad experience. - We stayed 4 nights. Our room wasn't cleaned even once, even though they advertise daily housekeeping on this site. We had to move rooms because the room was filthy. Dirt all over the floor, grimey floors, leaking toilet, rust stains in the sink and stains all over the sheets, towels, and walls. When my girlfriend ordered food to take back to the room they didn't offer to help, she had to come get me to help. When we changed rooms to a cheaper room they wouldn't refund us the difference in price. When we asked for more toilet paper she made it seem like a hassle and gave us tissue paper. Everywhere else I've stayed in se Asia (5 countries) treated us like gold. If you're 18 and just looking to surf and party, no problem. We're adults and our expectations based on reviews was an extreme let down. Great location though.
- Jorge (8/5): Nice - Really good!! Some problems with the wifi! Nice location.
- Waylon (8/5): - decent place, clean room, friendly staff, nice little pool, good location. Overall I'd probably stay here again
- Verified traveler (8/5): Comfortable stay with pool right outside! - We had a very comfortable stay at the Ashana. The room was good and comfortable. Good TV channels and wifi was alright. Pool side which we loved. Bathroom was alright, but not the most convenient. Local area is walkable to restaurants and some attractions, short cab ride to others.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Clean and tidy hotel with good food and friendly - Nice and relaxing little hotel. Great price for the stay but you are better off not going for the bed and breakfast as you only get a slice of toast and a coffee or juice as the breakfast option. There is plenty of choice around for breakfast at a good price.
- michelle (6/5): Location good but hotel not up to scratch - Room was not ready when we arrived ,tried to put us in a standard room when I had booked a villa .room we waited 2 more hours then got our room but the bathroom wasn't clean n smelt awful ,no fruit on arrival ,or hairdryer or safe in room as stated on website gate did not lock to our courtyard . But one the plus side location was great just up the road from single fin bar n water
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great hotel in great location - We had a great stay at this hotel. The front desk and hotel staff were always happy to help. Wi fi was available in all rooms; pool and hotel grounds were always kept clean. The one let down was the breakfast included with the room. It was a bit basic, however, additional breakfast items could be bought at the restaurant.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent Situation and Nice Clean Room - Me and my boyfriend stayed here for the final 3 nights of our trip to Indonesia. The hotel is about a 5 minute walk down the road from Single Fin and Blue Point Beach. The room was excellent - spacious and clean. The pool area was well maintained and the staff are all really friendly and helpful. The only downside was the free breakfast selection, however this was not a problem for us and there are plenty of areas to eat around Uluwatu. We rented a scooter and the hotel is within really close driving distance to Padang Padang and Bingin beaches.
- Thomas (4/5): - I was travelling with my girlfriend and we booked the room on hotels.com and when we got there they said that all they had were twin rooms - At this stage of the day it was too late to find anywhere else. They pushed the beds together but it was the most uncomfortable sleep I've ever had in a hotel bed. The staff were lovely but it was certainly not a good way to spend a romantic night
- Maria Terese (8/5): Lovely accommodation in Uluwatu - Really nice accommodation. Spacious rooms with good storage for belongings. We had problems with air con and staff very helpful and when it couldn't be fixed, they changed us to another room. One area to improve could be for staff to be a bit more knowledgable on tourist attractions and provide more info on this. Good location - short walk to beaches in either direction - but recommend hiring a scooter as there was lots to see in the area. Overall Asana is a really lovely place to stay in Uluwatu and would definitely recommend it.
- Craig (8/5): Comfortable hotel close to some great waves. - Great welcome on our first night in Bali.
- Chantelle (8/5): Relaxing great stay - We were lucky and had our superior room upgraded to a cottage so we had alot of extra space and a quiet room. The wifi worked well and the hotel is excellent value for the price. The restaurant on the premises does decent food. We thought the location was great for us to visit the nearby Yoga Searcher yoga studio and it is a ten minute walk to Single Fin bar and the other restaurants of Uluwatu.
- Nigel (10/5): Nice hotel and nice people - Really enjoyed our stay here, coming back in a week :) of to explore other islands :)
- Brent (10/5): Best stay we've had in our month long journey! - This place was awesome! Great location, quiet, clean, friendly and very nice. Could of asked for anything more!
- William (6/5): Close to the local beaches - New hotel close to the numerous beaches
- Verified traveler (8/5): Fair price! - The hotel was really good for the pice and well located. I would certainly recommend it.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location, short walk to single fin and the beautiful quiet beach below. The included breakfast was very simple. But you could order from the menu for cheap anyways. Good stay.
- Katherine (8/5): Great deal - Very comfortable stay. The room was clean and the air worked great. My room had its own entry way so it was very quiet. Great location to uluwatu beach. I'd recommend having a scooter if you need to go anywhere else as it's not a very walkable area. The lights flickered a bit and the fire alarm light flashed throughout the night but nothing that kept me up (might be bothersome if you're a lite sleeper
- Josefin (8/5): Cheap, fresh and good service! - Our stay at Ashana hotel was better than expected. Good food at the front and there is a place where you can rent a scooter just next to it. The place looks pretty new with a fresh pool in the middle. A very small hotel and there's not much to do there, which suited us perfect as we prefer driving around in uluwatu and stay at the beaches over a day. Cheep, fresh and good service! Could definitely stay there again.
- David (8/5): - Close to Single Fin
- Matt (8/5): - Great comfortable place to base yourself if you want to stay close to the surf. Plenty of other places to eat. Would recommend Padang breeze.
- Anne (8/5): Lovely hotel - Lovely hotel about an hours walk from the temple. Nice restaurants/bar area near the sea only a 10 min walk from the hotel. Food from restaurant was good too. Pool nice and clean. Would not hesitate to stay again.
