Guest Reviews
- Samantha (10/5): Lovely 2 night stay - We had a lovely short stay here, the room was very cosy and the bed was very comfortable. Ideal for walking in and around Burley. The breakfast was superb, lovely homemade apple juice and a fantastic full English. Owners were very pleasant too.
- Ralph (10/5): - Very good ,
- donna (8/5): - Lovely stay again at these cottages. Direct access to the open woods and short walk to the village.
- IAN (10/5): - Well placed in village
- M M (10/5): A little gem - An amazing little site with very clean and spacious rooms, only downside to our room was it had such a small TV but we weren't there to watch TV so it wasn't so much an issue just a slight inconvenience. The hosts and other staff were great, all made us feel welcome and always had time for a little chat. Breakfast was amazing, a set menu that you ticked a few boxes on an order form the night before so they can plan ahead. We had the veggie and farmers breakfasts both were amazing. A 5min walk to the village which was the main reason for going so that was a huge bonus. Will definitely be back.
- Steven (10/5): - Lovely place.
- Sarah (10/5): - Had a lovely stay here at Cider Cottage’s.
Very clean, bed exceptionally comfortable and a very tasty breakfast. Would definitely stay again.
- NICOLA (8/5): - Really lovely staff, breakfast was yummy, the building and tearoom just needs a bit of tlc
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Lovely location
- Derek (8/5): - It had character but was a little dated. Very convenient for local village pubs. Staff excellent.
- John (10/5): - Clean & comfortable, reasonably priced.
- Ewelina (10/5): - Nice and quiet. Only dump in one room and loud shower.
- Enio (10/5): New Forest Gem - Booked a very last minute weekend stay. What an absolute gem this b&b is. Stayed in the downstairs bedroom, set apart from the rest of the rooms which is ideal if you have a dog. Room was spacious, immaculate, gorgeous towels (I love decent towels!). Woke up with cows just outside, very quiet. Needed a hairdryer, the owner kindly dropped one off.
Bed very comfortable.
Breakfast made this place stand out- food is fantastic! Excellent quality, served in the beautiful tearoom. My son loved the gardens and chickens.
Fabulous location, 2 minute walk into Burley village with great restaurants.
Will be returning without a doubt, would highly recommend anyone stays here, it really is lovely
- Barrie (10/5): - A very nice room, clean and tidy. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Will probably be back in late October
- DH (10/5): Great hotel and staff - The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, it is a non contact check in as it has been since covid, but that gives you space and time to settle in. Everything is straightforward and easy to sort out. Staff in the cafe for breakfast in the morning were friendly and chatted with you. Rooms clean and tidy
- BEVERLEY (8/5): - This was a unique property. Despite being situated next to a main road our room (6) was detached and remote from the main building. We loved the fact it was a single storey cottage in its own right with a sitting room and a large en-suite.
We didn't like the fact that there were no people to welcome and direct us on arrival. Ok name was on a board as informed, however it did not tell us that our room was not part of the building we were standing in. As the café was shut the day we arrived, we could not ask for directions to our room. All contact was to be made by mobile phone - not good as there was no signal available on either of our mobile phones. Our room also was the only room to have no direct WIFI as the walls were too thick!!
Breakfast orders were a tick box exercise (again no human interaction) the night before and deposited in the small entrance hall as per room instructions.
First contact was made in the café where breakfast was served at our requested time.
This room suited our needs, but as we both have mobility issues going up a steep stair case only to find our room was not part of the building we were in was a bit too much after a long car journey. Our entire experience lacked the personal touch, which people of our generation very much appreciate.
- Jo (8/5): - Beautifully clean and quality bedding.
- Stephen (10/5): - Excellent rooms, fabulous breakfast, friendly helpful hosts
- Shelley (10/5): May 2024 - Absolutely lovely place. Very clean, tidy and comfortable. The breakfasts were really tasty and lots of options. We will definitely be returning
- Herian (10/5): - The rooms are cleaned and maintained to a very high standard and balance the picturesque features of the cottages with modern amenities - a kettle with tea, coffee, sugar, milk and milk-alternatives provided, a small TV (as if you want to stay inside when the New Forest is minutes away on foot!) WiFi and pristine en suite. The bed was very comfortable, with lots of big, soft pillows to suit anyone's sleeping habits, and nice soft towels and quality soaps were provided.
I met with friends elsewhere for breakfast so I can't comment on it, but the menu was large and well-presented so I'm interested to try it next time I visit!
The Cider Cottages have no-contact check in and check out. Although it's a bit different to have a B&B experience without talking to anyone, the place feels very well organised and thought-through.
It wasn't a problem for me but the windows didn't seal tightly so there was a little bit of sound coming through from the road and birds outside and it might be colder in the winter.
- Derek (6/5): - The cottage was tired. Could do with a refurb. The breakfast and staff were very good.
- David (8/5): - Burley is a lovely village steeped in history witches and folklore . The staff were lovely and the breakfasts excellent. A lovely place to relax , ride a bike and close to lymington . Lovely beds and warm too. Will definitely stay again . Dave & Dawn Portland Dorset
- Verified traveler (6/5): Bank holiday weekend - The room and bathroom were clean but cold when we arrived. The bathroom window could not be closed and the towel rail was not switched on. Eventually we located the switch in the bedroom. The shower cubicle was old and tiny. Not suitable for anybody with limited mobility. Very sparse hanging space in the bedroom. No iron.
The bed was very comfortable and we slept well.
The tea and coffee station was well stocked
Breakfast was good and the staff attentive.
However the place where we were served breakfast was very shabby, the old metal window frames were rusted through and the ceiling has mould marks.
Everything needs updating.
- Chris (10/5): - Great location. Room was fab.
- Melissa (10/5): - Really good location for this B&B and lovely friendly service.
- Robert (8/5): - It was lovely room was a bit small and the shower was very noisy breakfast was great
- David (6/5): - Ok as a place to sleep whilst visiting family in Burley over Christmas.
- Terry (10/5): Perfect two night stay - Cider cottages are ideally placed in the village of Burley .
Our room, room 5 had two bedrooms and were both spacious, clean tidy and a well stocked tea and coffee station. Attached outside the Tea Rooms were a superb breakfast was presented on both mornings by delightful staff
A great two night stay . T
- Margaret (8/5): - Stayed in the annexe , liked the area very much with horses coming on the drive ,was lovely to see.
- David (10/5): - This wonderful property is located in the heart of the New Forest in the quaint village of Burley. The accommodations were to-notch and the breakfasts excellent - especially their home made apple juice! The only minor complaint is that we had Room 5 for a couple of days and the internet connection was virtually non-existent. We also stayed in Room 4 and there was no problem with the internet. Highly recommended B&B with good pubs and inns in walking distance.
- Philippa (2/5): - The room was light and airy, the bed was comfortable and plenty of tea and coffee available. Breakfast was plentiful and well cooked. I was surprised that there was no hair dryer as usually one is provided. Apart from that the facilities were good.
- Rosaline (10/5): Beautiful place - Very lovely part of the New forest quiet and the place we stayed was beautiful countryside. cider cottages was full of lovely helpful people food was amazing would recommend the place to go .
- Sharon (10/5): - Perfect location. Lovely breakfast and staff really friendly
- Katie (10/5): - We stayed at Cider Cottages for the weekend, our second year visiting. We found the room (5) very comfortable, clean and well sized for 4 sharing two rooms with an ensuite. The breakfast at the Cider Pantry is exceptional and brilliant that it’s included in the price. The location is just perfect, an easy short walk to the shops and attractions. Things we especially loved about our stay were the cute geese and chickens, tea and cake in the garden, seeing New Forest ponies from our window and meeting the deer by Burley Manor. Burley is a wonderful place to visit if you love a cute village with bit of witchcraft and smuggling history. We’ll definitely be back. X
- MARTYN (6/5): - Lovely area. Walked to the pub for evening meal. Tea making facilities in the room were haphazard and needed a clairvoyant.
Overpriced.
- Debbie (10/5): - Excellent 2 night stay. Immaculately clean and great location. Good breakfast choice and staff very friendly. Great base to explore the New Forest.
- James G (10/5): First Class B&B - This a little gem in a beautiful location. The accommodation is excellent and very well appointed. The service could not be faulted from very friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast was superb. There is also a lovely garden to sit in and enjoy a pint of the farm's superb cider. Would highly recommend this place
- Andreas (10/5): Great vegan breakfast options - Great stay, great vegan breakfast options - well done
- Andrea (8/5): Winter break - We had a lovely time, stayed for 2 nights, 1st night the room was freezing as it was -8 outside and the heating had gone off. As soon as we mentioned it to the staff the heating was on all through the 2nd night. The bed and laundry immaculate. Breakfast lovely and hot and staff couldn't do enough for us. Good value for money. The cider shop is a must.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Family weekend stay - Lovely accommodation, breakfast was amazing and local produce. Really nice location.m would definitely stay again.
- Brian (10/5): - Lovely friendly place to stay ,great breakfast and if you're lucky to have a room facing the road ,youll see the wildlife walking past
- Sandra (8/5): Lovely location - Lovely location and Great Breakfast.
Interesting Alarm on the first morning with New Forest Horsesrunning past neighing.
- Martina (10/5): - Great venue for a family break.
- Janos (10/5): - Great location, just what a walker want.
Brilliant breakfast..
- Sandra (10/5): Fairy Folk - We stayed so that we could attend the New Forest Fairy Festival. The Cider Cottages was very convienient located just along the road from the main Burley village, We had a lovely welcome from the staff ,the room was lovely windows open and the curtains pulled so that the room was cool, as the temperature was in the 30s Nothing was too much trouble for the staff , our tea coffee extra was filled up in a little basket by the door .As we totally understand why the staff did not enter our room. We were so impressed by the excellent service that on departure we booked for next year. The breakfast was very good , but due to the very hot weather we chose to stick with a smaller option of Door step toast and Jam. Which was both filling and crusty, beautiful.
- Donna (8/5): - Really enjoyed our stay, room was clean and had all what we needed. We stayed in the Tom Putt room at the front of the cottage, lovely to hear the horses outside, very little noise from the road.
A very short walk into Burley village.
Breakfast was great, plenty of choice given, friendly staff to answer any questions.
We would highly recommend Cider Cottages and will be definitely returning.
- JENNIFER (8/5): Lovely country cottage and suurounding village - We stayed for 2 nights in a triple room. The staff were welcoming on our arrival. At breakfast times they were very helpful and friendly. All our requests were fully met throughout our stay and the food provided by the attached Cider Pantry was delicious. At other times the staff left us very much to our own devices to enjoy our New Forest stay. The only places for imprivement would be for hot food to be served later than 3pm and the ensuite bathroom to be better ventilated or air freshener provided.
- Catriona (8/5): - A very convenient place to stay. Lovely staff and comfortable accommodation, though not luxurious. Some issues with noise as our room overlooked the road and the gravel parking area.
- Katie (10/5): - We had a short, last minute weekend getaway at Cider Cottages and had a lovely time! Easy parking and very simple check in. Our room was perfect, a double and twin room together with private shower room. The breakfast was outstanding, and good vegetarian and vegan options. The Cider Pantry and cottages are charming, very welcoming and have lots to offer, there’s a lovely garden, little shop and plenty of cake!
The village has quite a few gift shops and places to eat out. We ventured out to The Old Station Tearooms for cream tea and were pleased to find vegan scones available. Our only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer.
- Gillian (10/5): Lovely Breakfast! - Lovely little place with a fabulous breakfast! Beds were comfortable and tea and coffee provided. Less than 5 minute walk to the centre of the village
- Gregory (10/5): Well worth a visit - Lovely friendly staff, great breakfast’s and very nice room. We had a great time.
- Heidi (10/5): - Comfortable B&B. Clean, simple and tidy. We very much enjoyed staying here. Great breakfasts! Would recommend to anyone looking for a short stay in the New Forest.
- Yachiyo (10/5): - The room was big enough to do Yoga every morning. The best point of this acommodation was excellent breakfast!!!
Good value for money.
- J (10/5): Lovely family break - We have just returned from a 3 night stay at Cider Cottages. We stayed in the family room with our two children aged 8 and 10. The room was actually two rooms (a double and a twin) with a shared shower room. It was extremely clean, comfortable and light with lovely views from both bedrooms. The children loved watching the ponies from their room. There were plenty of choices for breakfast, including gluten free options. The service was excellent. Great location with several pubs and restaurants within walking distance and an excellent location to explore the New Forest from. Thank you for a wonderful stay - we will definitely consider returning as soon as we can!
- Andrew (6/5): Ok accommodation great breakfast - Lovely location. We had room 6, it was best described as rustic and needed a bit of updating and care. Door to bathroom stuck on the floor each time and had been like this a long time as all the floor was scratched by it. The blind in the bathroom was mouldy. Bed was comfortable and the kettle and fridge were very handy.
Breakfast was excellent.
- Demitris (10/5): - Lovely place and would stay here again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Enjoyable Stay - We really enjoyed our 2 night stay. Delicious breakfast included in the price.
The B&B was in a great location for us. Cycle hire very close by. We loved the fact that horses and cattle were freely roaming around. A real novelty for us, probably not so great for the locals though.
- Verified traveler (8/5): A little different - First trip since covid struck. Odd risk management - quite a bit of performance cleansing mostly pointless, as low risk of fomite transmission for covid. But breakfast served indoors and obviously maskless for customers - where risk of respiratory transmission is way higher. Choice of breakfast and new breakfast system was a disappointment - none of the lovely apricots or prunes they used to offer and no simple avo on toast. Now you have to choose from a very limited and confusing tick box system - gone are the days when you could just ask for which of the various breakfast ingredients you want. Good news is they seem to have upgraded the facilities ion some of the rooms, and the fresh milk in a thermos rather than in tiny UHT packs is a plus.
- Gregory (6/5): - We stayed for a long weekend. And allocated a room off the main block with no WiFi and only two channels on tv.
No contact or communication with any staff or owners. Beware not to book the Kingston room it was noisy with intermittent noises like a large clicking sound especially at night. Breakfast was good though.
- Mark (8/5): - Nice pleasant stay, great breakfast, ideal location to explore New Forest
- Verified traveler (8/5): Cider Pantry - The room was perfect for us, It was clean and well appointed. The ponies came to the gate a couple of times and there was lots of wildlife around and about the cottage. The breakfast was excellent!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The staff were super friendly, the breakfast delicious and the contact less check-in worked like a dream. The kettle in the room needed a good descale, but that's a detail point.
- Simon (8/5): Nice little break. - Great location for short walk into Burley. Room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was nice. Would stay here again.
- Joseph (10/5): Nice b & b, great breakfast and location. - We had a lovely stay at the Cider Cottages. The room was basic but clean and comfortable. The location was perfect, just a 3 minute walk to Burley Village. Loads of nice walks nearby and cycle hire very close, and 25 minute drive to Peppa Pig World if that's your thing. More than anything though the breakfast included with the room was amazing and we looked forward to it each day.
- Anne (8/5): Lovely and peaceful location. - Lovely location. 10 minute walk into village. New Forest ponies wandering about. Great breakfast. Quiet - apart from geese and the cockerel, but don’t worry they don’t make any noise early! We had room 4 with a double and a single bed. Two windows, very bright, looking over garden at the back.
- Stephen (10/5): Great accommodation/ Location - What a great location and accommodation. We traveled with 2 children under 10. Room was perfect, breakfast was amazing, location perfect to explore by foot and car. Will definitely be returning ASAP!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely little B&B in a great area! Very short walk to the main village with plenty of quaint shops and pub/restaurants, cycle hire and cart ride! The breakfast on site was perfect and the food looked amazing! Wild horses roaming with chickens out the back! Perfect for a little family getaway! Would definitely go back!
- Mike (8/5): - Very comfortable, warm and secure accommodation. Great breakfast and a quiet location.
- Michelle (10/5): - Self contained room and en-suite. System in place for ordering breakfast and tea/coffee makings, effectively limiting person to person contact. Felt safe and was very snug and warm once inside from the rain!
- Mike&Shirley (10/5): - Overall really clean, nice room. The Breakfast was probably the best I have ever had at a hotel. Good choice, freshly cooked and all local produce.
- robert (10/5): A Great break in the middle of the New Forest. - Very clean accommodation in a great location. Horses, giant pigs and deer in the nearby park in the evening. A couple of nice pubs 5 minutes walk away. Great breakfast and friendly staff.
- Daisy (8/5): - We stayed at cider cottages in room 4 for 2 nights, as we wanted to spend the day cycling around the routes from Burley. It is a beautiful location. The room was very basic but the beds were comfortable and it was very clean. Breakfast was brilliant.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice size Comfortable room. Breakfast bit of a disappointment.
- Matt (10/5): reat venue for a New Forest stay - Thoroughly enjoyed my stay here at the Cider Cottages. Really liked the breakfast and although only 5 mins from the village centre, quiet and peaceful
- Kate (10/5): interesting place to stay - Great breakfast. Friendly staff. Fabulous location.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely hideaway for the New Forest - Lovely little place, ideally located for Burley village and a super welcome. Breakfast was beautiful!
- G (8/5): lovely little place in the woods - Lovely breakfast; great location with walks from outside the front door; lovely little shop selling cider, fruit, veg and dairy products
- Thomas (8/5): - Very comfortable accommodation in a lovely little village. Breakfast was excellent value.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely cider farm location in a beautiful village. Friendly staff (and animals) . My room was comfy and warm and the food in the pantry is amazing.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Comfortable accommodation and great breakfast! - We stayed for one night after attending a wedding nearby, and wished we could have stayed longer! The cottage was easy to find and in a beautiful location. Our accommodation was comfortable, spacious, warm and clean. We slept really well on a very comfortable mattress, and the room had everything we needed for our short stay including a private bathroom, tv and kettle, tea and coffee. The breakfast was fantastic! We look forward to returning again soon.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely rooms and incredibly delicious breakfast at Cider Cottages! I will definitely recommend this place to friends and family.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Tv was small, waste water punp was noisy but everything else was very nice
- Emily (10/5): - Amazing stay will def come back again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We only stayed for one night but For £90 a night this was perfect. A really large room and bathroom with basic amenities. All clean and only few minutes walk into main village. We stayed in a room
That was an outside walk to the cider pantry for breakfast but no more than 1 minute to get there.
Roaming horses just outside! Lovely
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Perfect location, we stayed in the Morgan Sweet in Littlemead House, our room was spotless with a generous size bath/shower room. Breakfast was cooked to order with the addition of a buffet too.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Location, location, location location, location, location
- Deborah (10/5): Perfect for me - Welcoming and friendly. The room was clean and private, the bed was comfortable and the food was delicious. I was made to feel welcome but without any sense of intrusiveness. It was easy to come and go and I felt very relaxed staying there. I would definitely stay again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this charming place to my friends.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great little annexe on the side which was good as we had baby with us so if she had cried in the night we wouldn’t of disturbed the other guests
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Enjoyed Cider Cottages. Great location and made a nice xhange from bigger, less personal places to stay. Only criticism would be the mattress which we thought had probably seen better days. Excellent breakfast.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - What a wonderful find this place is...perfect location, very peaceful and comfortable.Breakfast was fantastic.
- Justin (8/5): - Pleasant enough and good location.
Noisy drainage system.
- Peter (10/5): InCider dealing - Accommodation good, food excellent, surroundings brilliant.Ponies everywhere, even piggies across the road!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This was a very clean and quiet place to stay. Excellent breakfast and reasonable price. I would stay again
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely stay, spacious, clean and a great breakfast.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Stayed for 2 nights at the Cider Cottages. Brilliant location, just two minutes walk from Burley village where there are a couple of nice pubs, tea rooms and shops. It's in a much more peaceful location than Lyndhurst which is far busier and more commercial.
There are often horses outside the cottages and opposite are pigs, as well as the back garden having geese, chickens, ducks and Ginea fowl.
The breakfast was very good, with a variety of choice. The restaurant also did a nice selection of tea, coffee, scones and home made cakes.
There's a nice garden at the rear of the cottages (access is at the rear of the cider shop) with picnic benches.
Staff were helpful and room 5 where we stayed was of a good, clean standard. Free WiFi was included as well as tea/coffee making facilities in the room.
A great place to stay in The New Forest.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Only stayed one night to attend wedding party at Burley Manor, which is an easy walk, although no street lights en route, which others may like to note.
Comfortable bed large bath/shower room, quiet location.
- Katie (10/5): - Lovely location and accommodation. Vintage feel. Like going back in time.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful place in perfect New Forest location
Friendly & helpful with delicious food
Our beds very comfortable
We had family accommodation which was a lovely 2 bedroom apartment
Great walks from property, lovely local pubs with very good food
Perfect for children who enjoyed feeding ducks and chickens and the space
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The breakfast was excellent. Location perfect. Unfortunately the Room (No 3) had a lot of road noise. Also I would suggest a half net on the window would be good for modesty!
- Angela (10/5): Vegan friendly B&B - We had a lovely stay. Very friendly and helpful staff. Lovely vegan breakfast. Convenient location.
