• Marianne Frellumstad (10/5): Cozy guesthouse in town - Very cozy place, it's right in the city and close to everything. The service was super, and there's always a glass of wine within reach if you want one, and also some snacks. The breakfast is also great (cafe standard), even though its not included. I had a great time at the guesthouse! If you're more than one person, choose a deluxe room as those rooms are bigger. I would definitely recommended this place!
• SN (6/5): Lonely lodge - The rooms are occupied in the main by guests - in the evenings, & no-one is physically available for any query. Parking area should be fenced off and gated to protect the vehicles. Service is OK.
• Verified traveler (6/5): Nach einer schlafosen Nacht gewechselt - Das Guesthaus liegt an einer verkehrsstarken Strasse. Habe während meiner Afrikareise noch nie so wenig wie dort geschlafen. Das Rhino-Zimmer liegt direkt unter der Küche. Ab 6.00 Uhr wird dort fleissig das Frühstück zubereitet, weshalb schlafen nicht mehr möglich ist. Die niedere Deckenhöhe ist auch gewöhnungsbedürftig, schaut nach einem umgebauten Keller aus. Der Besitzer war zwar sehr nett, aber wir mussten uns mehrmals begründen, wieso wir ohne Frühstück gebucht haben. Das nervte. Wir haben dann nach einer schlaflosen Nacht in eine andere, zwar doppelt so teure, Unterkunft gewechselt.

• Judith (10/5): Comfortable, good value and ideally situated - We were made to feel very welcome at The Lions. The room was clean and comfortable and breakfast was delicious and plentiful to the point that we didn’t need food again until dinner. There were complimentary cakes, sweets and port available in the common areas and a cozy lounge. We could see Table Mountain from the garden which no doubt we would have used a lot more if the weather had been better. We were really well placed to get into the city which you can easily do by bus, Uber (for about 30-40ZAR) or you can walk down in about 30 minutes. Marietta and the whole team were really helpful, regularly checking if the cable car was open for us and suggesting trips we could do. There are also a good number of restaurants and handy shops nearby. We’d definitely recommend Robben Island and Victoria and Alfred Waterfront as must dos. If you’re visiting Cape Town, we’d thoroughly recommend The Lions as a base, it’s perfectly situated and good value. #thenaughtonnomads

• Suraj (8/5): Pleasant stay - A pleasant stay with nice, friendly staff. We had the leopard room with a part view of the table mountain which looked lovely in the mornings. We loved the way the common rooms of the guesthouse were setup. The warmness of the staff was an added bonus. The breakfast made by Mariette was lovely. It is located in a safe neighborhood and close-by to the Table mountain. Although, they're in process of renovating their boundary wall and backside garden, it didn't really affect our stay. Although, it took some getting used to regarding the wooden floors which made creaking noise whenever anyone walked but then that's normal for a wooden floor, I suppose. Overall, a nice place with great hospitality by the staff.

• Elizabeth (10/5): Friendly and helpful - Great place to stay. People were so friendly and accommodating. I kept miscalculating when I'd want breakfast and they just went with whenever I showed up. Called me cabs (even gave me a ride once). Perfect location to climb Table Mountain and Lion's Head. And those breakfasts were amazing -- delicious and substantial -- well worth the money. Lovely back yard to relax in, too.
• Saman (10/5): Chick and clean place to stay - This is a family business, but I do believe that they treat their guest as one of their family members as well. the hotel and rooms are clean inch by inch. friendly staff , easy access to many things in the area. good beautiful garden with mountain view very happy with my stay. will stay here again. definitely recommended.
• Jessica (10/5): Great Customer Service, Lodging and Location - The Lions Guesthouse was a fabulous place to stay. The staff is warm, welcoming and eager to ensure you have a great time. They are very helpful assisting with transport, tours and giving recommendations and booking tours. The breakfast was delicious, and plated beautifully. The garden in the back is lovely for some quiet time and taking in the sun. The rooms were very clean and nicely decorated. The location is great, one block from the popular and trendy Kloof Street, with many great restaurants in 2-10 minutes walking distance (Black Sheep, Manna Epicure, Cafe Paradiso and Kloof Street House). It's also only a 20 minute walk to the V&A Waterfront. Table Mountain and Lions Head are only a short drive away and visible from the property. I cannot say enough great things about this place. I highly recommend The Lions and will definitely return.
• Camilla Bruhn (10/5): Great value! - We only stayed one night at the lions guest house, but we could have stayed many more. The rooms are well equipped and the bed is super comfortable. The bath is new and has a nice bathtub which will be an awesome attribute for when the water situation in Cape Town improves. The place furthermore as a really cozy garden and very friendly and helpful staff!
• D&A (10/5): Lovely experience - Our experience in this beautifully decorated guesthouse was truly lovely. We loved our leopard room with views of Table Mountain (big selling point for us to book this place) and the cosy feeling of the guesthouse and the team. We booked last second with the request for a very late check in which was accommodated following very prompt communication via email. The team upon request also organised pick up from the airport which was perfect as we arrived so late. We had breakfast once during our stay which was delicious. Antony communicated daily via email giving recommendations and making sure we had everything we needed during our stay which gave us extra sense of security as this was our first time in Cape Town. We loved our stay and will definitely stay here again if we visit Cape Town at some point. Thanks so much for making the beginning of our Christmas holidays so special team!
• Tonye (8/5): Nice hotel - Nice hotel. Was like a bed and breakfast. Only thing is that I had to keep track of a lot of keys and the access to the rooms was through the back. The owner, Tony was nice and they give you a keychain when you check out.
• Lidia (10/5): Room with a view of Table Mountain. - Anthony is a great host. The house and our room were very clean and comfortable. Our room had a good view of Table Mountain. There are Good restaurants and cafes close to Lions house. There was construction on the parking area during our stay, but the work did not affect our visit. I highly recommend Lions Guest House.
• Clemens (8/5): Klein und fein - Sehr nettes Guest House in super Laage! Wir waren für 5 Nächte dort und haben es sehr genossen. Die Sauberkeit ist hervorragend, die Größe und Ausstattung des Zimmers sehr gut. Das Frühstück war nicht nur viel, sondern auch mit viel Liebe zubereitet und sehr lecker. Darüber hinaus gab es zu jeder Zeit kalte Getränke und Snacks. Die Lage an der Hauptstraße lässt leider kein Schlafen bei offenem Fenster zu. Mit AC ging es aber sehr gut. Parken ging problemlos direkt vor der Tür.

• Jaquelinne (10/5): Amazing area, clean place and excellent service - The owner and staff were amazing! They have helped us to enjoy our stay at Cape Town a lot. The area is perfect and easy to park, so we didn´t have to pay anything extra. Antony expended sometime with us for giving recommendations for the whole family. We are looking forward to coming back and stay at one of the Lion Hotel properties again.

Quiet picnic in the garden terrace before our afternoon nap. We went to Gate 69 at the Purple Palace in Bree street. The Lions was conveniently located with a R24 Uber ride to the venue. We'll definitely book there again if we stay in CT for the night. Thanks to a wonderful host, super shpwerz comfortable bed....we had a really lovely stay.

Comfortable room and bed with spacious ensuite. But what made the stay special was the kindness and attention to detail of the friendly proprietors, who made the stay memorable.
• Michael (10/5): Excellent Place to Stay in Cape Town - Honestly - can't say enough good things about this place. Staff/owners were super helpful, even after we checked in a bit late. Place is very clean and new, and conveniently located near the Table mountain cable cars. Plenty of provisions and such, if you need them, and when my adapter broke during my stay the owner even gave me a new one he had to spare. What lovely people.
• Joep (10/5): Perfect stay - We've had an amazing experience at the Lions Guesthouse. The owner, Antony is a great guy who takes care of everything. The guesthouse is located perfectly, close to the centre but in a quiet street. Rooms are clean and got everything you need, even a coffe machine. When I'm back in Cape Town, I will definitely go back to the Lions.
• Carolin (10/5): Kleines, gemütliches Gästehaus - Ich war für knapp eine Woche in diesem Gästehaus untergebracht. Das komplette Team ist sehr gastfreundlich und hilft einem wo es kann. Das Frühstück finde ich persönlich super. Mariette war jeden Tag aufs neue kreativ und hat sich was leckeres einfallen lassen. Auch das Zimmer welches nachts sehr abkühlt ist kein Problem, da es eine kleine Heizung gibt die sehr schnell warm wird. Die Zimmer sind sehr modern eingerichtet und auch das Bett ist sehr gemütlich. Die einzige Sache die ich dazu sagen würde ist, dass das Zimmer sehr hellhörig ist. Wer allerdings einen festen Schlaf hat wird dort keine Probleme haben. Auch in der Umgebung fühlt man sich sehr sicher. Für alle die ein bisschen ängstlich dort sind : Ich konnte alleine, abends rumlaufen ohne mich auch nur eine Sekunde unsicher gefühlt zu haben. Und wenn man dich lieber auf Nummer sicher gehen möchte kann man z.B sehr günstig ein Uber-Taxi nehmen (Bsp. V&A waterfront - Gästehaus = ca. 3 Euro) Ich würde diese Gästehaus jedem empfehlen der Kapstadt entdecken möchte. Danke nochmal (!) :)

Aamupala oli aivan loistava ja huoneet kodikkaita! Omistaja auttoi meitä varaamaan bussiajelut ja veneretket, kun sanoimme haikkaavamme pöytävuorelle toi omistaja aamulla meille kartan ja ohjeet! Loistava hotelli!

• Steffi (8/5): Schöne Lage - Wir hatten das Rheino Zimmer gebucht was sehr schön Richtung Innenhof gerichtet ist. Das Zimmer ist recht klein, und niedrig (Schein ein ausgebauter Keller zu sein) & befindet sich direkt unter der Küche, wo man ab früh morgens bereits die Fußstapfen hört. Somit ist ein gemütliches ausschlafen nicht drin. Das Zimmer hatte keine Klimaanlage, hatte aber eine super Ventilator und war auch so mit offenen Fenstern gut ertragbar. Der garten zur Rückseite ist sehr schön angelegt und wie eine kleine Oase wo man sich gemütlich "zu Hause" auch aufhalten kann. Das Team war Extremist freundlich und wir haben uns dort sehr wohl gefühlt.

• aubrey (10/5): wonderful experience - will be back for sure! - Our hostess and the guesthouse manager, coupled with a clean and relaxing room in this wonderful guesthouse made us wishing we had a few more days. Great location by shops, restaurants, hiking and more! 5 min drive to the waterfront.
• E F (10/5): Very good guesthouse in a central situation - We had a great time in Cape Town. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff at The Lions. Sika organised a trip to Aquila for us and was able to give us lots of advice about Cape Town. The hotel is very near shops, supermarkets and restaurants. We walked to Long St and the V & A waterfront . Recommend climbing the Lion's Head early in the day and taking a picnic up signal hill to watch the sunset. Also, the free city walking tours from Long St information centre were excellent. We always felt very safe.
• Sarah (8/5): Great service and location, cramped room - Lions Guesthouse was a great base for us to explore Capetown that was quieter than staying directly downtown but still very convenient with Uber. The service was the best part of our stay - Sika helped us to return our rental car and to do our laundry beyond anything we were expecting. We unfortunately were in a low-ceilinged room where my partner kept hitting his head. I think this was the only room with this issue, but the guesthouse was full so we couldn't switch. Sika did get us some sweets in apology for the room. Overall, great location and service, though a bit cramped on room space.
• Elspeth (10/5): Just what we were looking for! - We had a fabulous holiday in Cape Town and The Lions was perfect for our needs. We enjoyed the flexibility of the accommodation -the Buffalo appartment was well equipped giving us the opportunity to eat in or out as we chose. We had a balcony and there's a good garden too. Parking the car was no problem,if the driveway was full there was always space directly outside the house. We could walk down to the V & A Waterfront and even walked back a few times though it's uphill.which could be a struggle in the high temperatures.

• Johann (8/5): comfy room in a good location - I stayed 2 nights at the Lions Guesthouse and it was comfortable and convenient. Kloof nec road is a few steps away and long street is walkable. The host Sybil was a sweet and helpful. She preheated my room which was thoughtful. The room is small but clean and comfortable. The bathroom was clean but a little short (might be uncomfortable if you're really tall) and could use some improvement, like a good scrubbing between the tiles. The WiFi worked fine. I'm a happy customer.
• Ian (8/5): Nice guest house in a quiet but handy location - I stayed at this guest house for 4 nights from 14th May. The premises are located in Tamboerskloof, a leafy and safe suburb of Cape Town that's only about a mile from Long Street. The Lions is a good sized town house that has been divided into individual rooms all named on "Big Five" animal themes. I stayed in the "Lions" room. The room was a decent size with en suite shower room/toilet. Very clean and ample sockets. Bed was great, the only potential issues for light sleepers is nearby road noise but this tended to drop off a lot after 10pm. Although there was no TV in the room there was a very nice lounge/dining area with TV and an honesty bar. Very extensive range of tour and information leaflets available and manager Kathrin went out of her way to be helpful, lending me MyCiti bus card which greatly helped exploration of the further away parts of Cape Town. There is a bus stop nearby. Service 107 takes you into town in one direction and is great for picturesque Camps Bay in the opposite direction. There was no shortage of places to eat and drink nearby, I would personally recommend Arnolds which does great all day breakfasts as well as delicious lunches ane evening meals. As a guest I also had access to a well equipped kitchen. Each room also has its own allocated fridge and cupboard space and there are ample cutlery, crockery etc avaialable. There is a back garden with a lovely view of Table Mountain. Kathrin organises transfers from the airport cost approx ZAR300.
