- Saw hong (10/5): Home away from home - The room felt cosy and warm
- Patrick (4/5): David who was running the bar / restaurant is a friendly guy. - The entrance of the hote;l and fireplace The room was a desaster, the kitchen cupboard in terrible condition (broken), there were 2 hangers available, both broken
- Chami (10/5): - Great stay for a reasonable price... It had all that was needed for a comfortable stay.. highly recommended
- Dan (5/5): Becoming Michelle Obama - Location. Bed was missing leg. Heavy books left in room were used. TV didn't work. No coffee in room. No brochures re room. Booking.com stated no internet but info found by accident in bar gave WIFI password.
- Barresi (10/5): - Very professional service with a great location.
- Josh (5/5): -
- Todd (8/5): -
- TRENT (10/5): -
- Scott (3/5): Not a good place to stay for families getting up early to hike. - Staff were very friendly. Rooms - no toilet paper or bin liners. Level of cleanliness was quite low.
Very loud at night - live music and loud drunk people in hallways.
- KATALINA (10/5): So happy with our stay. Such a warm welcome at the end of a long drive - What a welcoming touch - heating on when we arrived - thank you - so cosy! We didn't know what to expect and were pleasantly suprised by so many things: a warm welcome, easy check-in, warm and clean rooms, top-notch restaurant with a cosy, ski-lodge kinda vibe. Fun and friendly bar including live music and DJ. And located in such a lovely little village with picturesque short walks closeby.
- Laurel (9/5): Very relaxing, especially after a long drive from Melbourne - As it was off season, it was very quiet. We had Dinner Plains all to ourselves. Limited parking. As we were in a large driving group and there was many cars, there was not enough parking for all.
Breakfast was slightly bland and there was only instant coffee available
- Sue (3/5): Disappointing due to no staff to oversee checking in and out and noise levels - Location No staff around. Other people staying there partied all night, extremely loud making it impossible to sleep
- Angus (8/5): -
- Denham (9/5): - Basic but clean room, decent value for the money A lamp beside the bed would be nice, bathroom exhaust not powerful enough
- Helen (10/5): Great atmosphere in bar and dining area. - Great location.
Great bush walking well marked tracks and huts.
The village has matched rustic style buildings.
The pub had a great atmosphere with terrific food.
Manager and staff were very friendly and helpful. Didn’t dislike anything at all.
- Thi Thu Ha (10/5): -
- Kim (9/5): Very pleasant - The space, the lovely environment Our room had an unfortunate fault where the heater was stuck on. Staff were very helpful in trying to get it off.
- Jennifer (9/5): Great - Nice
- Adrian (8/5): A comfortable room in the mountains - Friendly welcoming host. We did not eat at hotel. Bar has outdoor seating / garden which is good in Summer. Comfortable room, good shower. Can get good coffee / drinks in village as bars take it in turns to be open during the Summer. Selection of short to medium length walks around the area. Be aware if its hot summer weather that there is no aircon, can only open a window at night as mossies will enter if door is open. Note that there was no breakfast option in the summer but can get food at other establishments.

- Victoria (5/5): Dinner Plains, Hotel High Plains experience - The room was spacious, and accommodating. With clean sheets towels/toiletries and coffee, tea, sugar and uht milk. However there was no one at a reception to collect the key or to do a confirmation off our booking. The room was reasonably clean the bathroom shower could have been a bit more desirable and the comfort of the bed was like sleeping on a hard floor. In the morning there was no one to collect key so left in bedroom.
- Matthew (1/5): If you like 80s music blaring half the night you'll love your stay.. - Good location. Good bar. Rooms were neat. Leftover food in microwave. Dirty cups. Hard bed.
It would have been courteous for the hotel to warn us before booking that they were hosting a party for staff and locals and that we would hear it all from our rooms. Music blaring. Finally stopped at 2.30am. People fighting. People running up and down the halls. Not quite what we were looking for in a night out in Dinner Plain.
- Jaan (6/5): -
- Fleur (8/5): - great staff and vibe cleaning could be improved including windows a toilet
- Steven (10/5): -
- Shirley (5/5): - Bed was roomy & very comfortable The room could only be described as "Daggy "
The shower was not clean .
Soap scum on tiles & glass.
Mould on grout . .
Damaged paint work & large scratches on all the walls, especially above the bed .
The room was very bare & it was as if it hadn't been used for a long time
The heater was unable to be turned off as the control knob did nothing so it became excessively warm & we were forced to open a window even though it was -2°c outside.
We paid for a room that was described as being a lot better than it actually was.
Apparently, according to the details that are listed on your site , we were supposed to have a mountain view , which we did not even though we were on the first floor & more importantly, there was supposed to be a Mini Bar but there was nothing !
As it was xmas day , there was nowhere for us to buy any type of drinks , alcoholic or otherwise.
We expected a mini bar because your info said there was one in the room so we didn't take any drinks with us
I mean , it's not like it was listed as a
"Budget Room " & it wasn't exactly cheap either.
All in all, it was very disappointing & we would never stay there again.

- Sarah (9/5): Clean, quiet and nice staff. Very nice location. - Very quiet location, staff was very nice and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. Bathroom was a little bit small and the pub food was slightly expensive at $32 for a Parma and chips, but it was good food!
- Julie (9/5): -
- Mark (10/5): -
- Armstrong (9/5): -
- Hari (7/5): It was ok not great. - Location and facilities Fridge wasn’t clean. It actually has mould which suggests it’s not clean for like 2-3 months. Also walls were dusty.
- Megan (8/5): Value on Hotham - Value for money accom on Hotham. It's tidy, has all the basics and the king size bed exceeded the expectations for a night's accom. Great to simply head in to the pub for a feed too
- Margo (8/5): -
- Chris (9/5): - The room was large with a lovely king bed. Looking out over the village
- Elise (9/5): -
- david (4/5): -
- Claus (9/5): Very nice hotel and great to enjoy snow - Location and comfort Little dated, odd low sinks in bathroom
- Keith (7/5): Good position good horse shoe bar good staff well done to all - Needed better pillows to sleep onshower head water hard on skin
- Ant (8/5): Very good -
- Mark (10/5): - Good enjoyable stay
- Ray (9/5): A unique experience in a unique part of the world - Warm and cozy in a chilly part of the world I’m nearly 76 and I didn’t enjoy dragging our luggage up and down the stairs.
- Shane (8/5): Very good -
- Tony (8/5): Very good -
- Kim (8/5): Very comfortable stay in beautiful surroundings! - Great atmosphere and beautiful location. The room was comfortable. Dinner was lovely! No toilet paper in bathroom. No iron and board in the room. Rooms are very dark, more lighting would be great.
- Karen (4/5): Filthy Hotel, Great Location - Great location for bushwalks When we walked into the foyer about 15 - 20 blue dirty laundry bags greeted us. When we walked into the reception/bar area to book in we were told they weren't open until 5pm but our booking told us 3pm. Walking down to our room was quite the experience with all the facilities rooms wide open. The smells eminating from the kitchen/laundry and store room were disguisting. We had quite an interesting view of the back workings of a hotel. In particular the laundry room where a blow up sex toy (looking worse for wear) was propped up in the back corner. Not sure how I would have explained that to my kids!! Anyway...the room was large and spacious, with clean sheets but the bathroom had open shampoo/conditioner bottles from the previous occupants on top of the shower and there was mould around the shower recess door.
On our booking email from the hotel it advised us places to eat during the off season was limited but they had a communal kitchen available for use. After smelling/seeing the state of the commercial kitchen we decided we would cook our own food. Visiting the communal kitchen was another interesting experience! Dirty frying pans, plates, cutlery and half drunk coffee/beers everywhere. Even a set of crutches leaning against the stove area welcomed us. We eventually opted for driving to Mt Hotham for dinner instead!
When trying to locate where to leave our key the next morning we ventured back into the reception/restraunt area. Not only did our shoes practically stick to the floor! there was left over food such at deep fried chips and a half eaten hamburger left out on the kitchen servery. Disgusting!
I'm sure the health authorities would have a field day in this place!

- Pollard (8/5): Very good -
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kerry (8/5): Lovely experience. -
- Saji (8/5): Very good -
- Fabio (7/5): Good -
- Thomas (6/5): - The heater did not work in my room - the staff provided a small space heater which took the edge off the chill, however not really good enough for an alpine hotel room to not have functional heating.
- Stanley (10/5): - Property was fantastic and the staff were helpful. Just be aware it says pet friendly but pets aren’t allowed in room. Might need to be updated.
- Louise (4/5): Disappointing -
- Luis (7/5): Good -
- Rosaria (10/5): Good 1 night stop - Room was clean and comfortable but did not have air con or ceiling fans which we would have used as temps were low 30s . Good kitchenette and spacious room.
Enjoyed our meal in the restaurant and the flavoured icecreams available on site.
- David (7/5): A great stay - The High Plains was a great location. It met our needs in a beautiful quiet location. The food was good. Two small points.
1. The TV didn't function correctly, not a major issue as we didn't really need it.
2. The bins weren't empty in the room. The previous guests roast chicken was left for us to enjoy. Again a small point as we weren't in the room much, but we would still expect a completely clean room.

- Kamyar (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lisa-May (6/5): - Unfortunately they are focused on winter, completely ignoring the summer opportunities of hiking and mountain biking- the room had no air conditioning- only heating. Only one flat pillow with no second pillow available. Television in the rooms was not working. Went to the hotel on site for dinner and food was excellent.
- Brondolino (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mia (10/5): Exceptional - Staff were super friendly and helpful! The location was beautiful, such a cute town. Great bar downstairs in the hotel, reasonable priced drinks and a pool table. Kitchen for shared use was very convenient and clean. Shower was great - good water pressure.
- Walker (7/5): Good -
- Belinda (10/5): - Spacious rooms, very accommodating staff and easy drive to Razorback trailhead to Mt Feathertop. Great food at the restaurant downstairs too.
- Yuh (8/5): Very good - Friendly staff. Nice location. Good food at the restaurant.
- Monica (8/5): nice short stay - convenient accomodation with bistro wifi was not that good inside the room if you really need it. We didn‘t really need it though so it was not too bad.
- Judith (6/5): Good location.. would not stay again. At $205 it was overpriced - Size of room No heating
No minibar
No food or view as advertised
Tiny bathroom
Room was dusty with dead bugs

Very long wait time for food at restaraunt - no acknowledgement or apology from staff
No backup toilet paper roll in room
- Trudy (8/5): Nice for a quick break or weekend - Has a kitchenette to cook meals in. Cozy pub underneath and evening meals available. Does echo and is quite noisy at night. The bed was soooo hard my hips and shoulders ached all day after sleeping in it.
