Guest Reviews
- Anne (10/5): - Service, Ausblick, Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis, Frühstück
- Maria Guimera (10/5): -
- Roy (9/5): In spite of having altitude sickness I was able to appreciate the quality of this modern hotel. - Helpful staff, very clean, well equipped rooms, oxygen readily available.
- PAUL (8/5): - Views. Open fires
- Karolin (9/5): Komfortabel und tolle Aussicht - Großes Zimmer, sauber, ruhig. Tolle Aussicht auf den See. Gutes Essen.
- Greta (10/5): - Muy amable el personal
- Vincent (10/5): - The hotel is about 15mins by taxi from downtown Puno. The PeruHop bus from Puno (Peru) to La Paz (Bolivia) will pick up outside the hotel making the transfer easy. The quality of the food selection at the restaurant was excellent
- Dirkvanonsem (6/5): ok - room airco is not perfect, breakfast ok, but not special. Big breakfastroom was often not set up in a nice way.
Staff was friendly and asking reviews offen
- Ben (8/5): Ticked all the boxes and reasonable price - Mostly friendly staff. Helped my son with extra oxygen as he struggled with the altitude. Offered us free use of the lovely meeting room with a nice view for my wife’s retreat activities. Rooms were a bit too warm. A bit noisy on the road to have windows open all night.
- berniece2000 (4/5): Don’t Recommend - The first thing you need to know about this hotel is that it’s located outside of town. Once you are there, you either must taxi or have a vehicle to go anywhere. As a result, you’re at their mercy in terms of purchasing water at 5x the normal rate, eating at the overpriced, underwhelming restaurant where the servers are run ragged. It’s possible to have your water bottle filled by one of the very busy servers, but doesn’t feel right given how busy they are.
The buffet breakfast definitely has some high points - a variety of raw nuts, some delicious looking salads, yogurt parfaits were nice to see. The hot items varied but weren’t always hot (the candles aren’t lit until the food has been out for close to an hour), and the heavy lids are too much for many guests so the troughs remain open at times.
There is very uneven tile in the lobby - do be careful!
The refrigerator in the room wasn’t turned on, so if you’re wanting to put food in it make sure it’s on.
Our toilet ran the whole time we were there, so it needed to be wiggled at the handle to get it to stop so you could flush it again.
The shower head isn’t great and it took forever to get hot water.
Idk what the options are for this city, but we’d have been much happier with something in town and could have overlooked some of the other issues if we’d been able to walk to some shops and restaurants.

- JohnJosephSAT (8/5): Rooms Are Better Than Expected BUT ... - The rooms, views of Lake Titicaca and dining room are nicer than expected BUT...
This is a fairly large, modern, first class (not deluxe!) htl in a remote location 2 or 3 miles (4-5 kms) from town. No shops or restaurants within walking distance of the htl. You have to take a car to go to town. The Peruvian ride share app InDrive is good, dependable and less than half the price of Uber or that the hotel charges for a "private taxi".
The night time temperature during my February 2026 (summer in Peru!) stay was about 38⁰F. The guest rooms are surprisingly nice and comfortable with good housekeeping but the hallways are not heated and frequently are not even lit.
I have been in the group travel business for 45+ years. This is a rather strange hotel that has no dedicated Concierge that I ever found during my 4 nights here. There was never any evidence of experienced, competent management anywhere in the htl.
I saw one young man once at Reception otherwise had to contend with the young women who are without exception ARROGANT, UNHAPPY, UNFRIENDLY, UNPROFESSIONAL, UNHELPFUL, and singularly UNPLEASANT. Every interaction with them was difficult at best to extremely difficult most of the time. They clearly are unsupervised and totally unaware that they are supposed to be friendly, happy, pleasant and helpful to the paying guests.
- Silvia (10/5): -
- TimeTripping (8/5): Good but distant - One star less for the location - the view on Titicaca is definitely 5 star one but the distance from all other life is a great minus.
The room is spacious, and comes with a kettle, and some tea bags (no coffee). A great bonus is the refrigerator!
The breakfast is really, really good.
On the backside, the carpets are outdated, and the interior is about to ask for updating.
However, a good place.

- MartinB286 (10/5): Lake Titicaca hotel - A first class experience situated overlooking the southern end of Lake Titicaca. The views from the hotel are breathtaking.
I ate both nights at the hotel’s restaurant and the meals were very nicely cooked.
The rooms are spacious and comfortable. My room - on third floor - had a large shared balcony with outstanding views of the city and the lake.
Most staff speak English and are friendly. Lorenz and Melanie are lovely waiters from the restaurant and Cinthya is excellent on reception. The only issue is that the hotel is a little isolated from the town of Puno but that could be a good thing for a quiet night.
- Silva (10/5): -
- Daniel (10/5): -
- Danusa (9/5): -
- Silver (10/5): -
- Suélen (10/5): Muito boa! - Hotel novo. Muito longe do centro.
Comida do restaurante é ruim e muito cara.

- lovinas665 (10/5): Best hotel in puno - Amazing everything!! Highly recommend. The rooms and restaurant service was pristine. They helped us with weighing our bags and also calling an emergency doctor for one of our friends.
- marthacX8188MR (10/5): Great hotel Great Staff - Our friends and my husband and I are amazed at the service and dedication that the staff at Jose Antonio Hotel. Carmen, Rosalina, our bar tender and staff when we arrived after a super long drive was beyond amazing. Thank you! The hotel is beautiful just like the rest of the staff!
- 516lauramihaelam (10/5): restaurant with very kind and pleasant staff - The hotel restaurant is beautiful and modern. The food is good. Carnen served us and was exceptionally kind. Her presence made our dinner even more enjoyable.
- Karina (5/5): Beautiful stay dampened by unhelpful front desk. - The location was great, the staff in the kitchen was wonderful, the food was good and the rooms were comfortable. It was warm and he views were beautiful. Unfortunatly, despite everything it has going for it I cannot reccomend staying here because of certain staff members and an unresponsive reservation team. The staff managing the front desk were rude and unhelpful. There was an error in our booking reservation. We needed three rooms for 1 night, and then 2 rooms the next night. It came out to 5 rooms for one night. We call the front desk to edit our reservation, no answer. We send multiple emails, no answer. We finally get a call to go through and they tell us nobody works reservations on saturday (?) ok. We get automated responses from Booking.com that says someone from the property will be in touch with us. Nothing. No worries, we will just figure it out when we get there. We arrive and the front desk lady wants to charge us for the 5 rooms and will not help us edit our reservation. We explain the mishap to her (and we are duel Peruvian/American citizens so there is NO language barrier,) but she cannot edit our reservation and tells us we have to do it through Booking.com. We show her the emails saying someone from the property will be in touch with us about editing our reservation, which I assume is her. She folds her hands & says "I cant help you." We ask her "who can help us?" she says "booking.com." So we go back on booking.com, but of course they are telling us to refer back to the property. The whole situation is very circular. Everytime we ask for help on anything... A correct number to call, someone who can help us etc... She says "the information you have is the information I have." We called 4 out of service numbers. Finally, we get through to customer service on booking.com to cancel our reservation so we can start the process over. $80 cancellation fee. Booking tells us that it is up to the hotel to waive the cancelation fee. The front desk lady said she couldnt help us waive the fee. She cant help us with anything. I dont even know why they have a front desk. She never touched her computer once. Finally we pay for the whole stay upfront to avoid any problems or additonal fees.
- Claudionor (10/5): Escolha acertada - Hotel extremamente bem conservado.

- travel190743 (8/5): Great staff, neat and tidy - Lovely staff, especially Richard from the bar area who gave excellent service when we decided on a meal at the bar area and also the desk staff member who helped us to arrange a transfer from the airport to our next hotel. Very very helpful and much appreciated. Great little gift shop as well with a lovely staff member and a lovely selection of keepsakes to purchase.
The down side was really the location which was a little far away from things. On the upside this meant things were pretty quiet and I can see why tour groups use the venue as it is right across from the lake with views that can’t be beaten, and transfers are easily arranged for the variety of tours. There isn’t really anything within walking distance however so be aware you’ll need to arrange transport if wanting to explore.
Rooms were tidy and serviceable and the lobby area and bar are great. Fantastic lake views but the five stars go to the vast majority of staff who always had a smile and warm greeting.
- 581timothyh (10/5): Puno Hotel Stay - The hotel is large and temperature inside was very comfortable. Room was large, Food was great, staff were efficient and made us feel welcome. We felt quite lucky to have stayed here.

- 551ludovicac (10/5): Good dinner! - The restaurant is open until 10 pm, very good.
The food was delicious, we tried rocoto relleno and the potatoes cream.
Cinthya was very good at the service!
- Dream03459662616 (10/5): Amazing - The breakfast offered a great variety, and in the evening the view of Lake Titicaca was truly wonderful by the warmth of the fireplace. Dinner was delicious as well, and we were looked after by Cinthya, who was always attentive to everything we needed.

- nickhR298MK (2/5): Horrible Hotel - I BOOKED THIS HOTEL ONE YEAR AGO AS A PACKAGE Visiting many countries. I SPECIFICALLY asked for 1 bed for 2 adults (Trip celebrating our 33 WEDDING ANNIVERSARY) WE WERE PUT IN A ROOM WITH TWIN BEDS RIGHT NEXT TO A CONSTRUCTION SITE WITH LOUD JACK HAMMERS GOING FROM 8AM TO 5 PM. THIS ROOM WAS NOT SUITABLE for paying guests. WHEN ADDRESSED WITH UNSMILING STAFF AT RECPTION WE WERE TOLD THE HOTEL WAS FULL AND THAT THE NEXT DAY IT COULD BE RECTIFIED. U HAPPY WITH THIS WE FINALLY AGREED TO AT LEAST PUSH THE BEDS TOGETHER WITH A MATRESS TOPPER AND MAKE AS ONE BED. WE CAME BACK FROM A WALK (TO ESCAPE THE NOISE) AND THEY HAD JUST PUSHED THE BEDS TOGETHER. THE NEXT DAY WE WERE MOVED TO A QIETER ROOM BUT STILL TWIN BEDS NOT EVEN PUSHED TOGETHER. SUCH A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT.
- ursulafabi0lar (10/5): The best breakfast ever - The breakfast is the best ever .. many different things.. fruits, traditional Peruvian breakfasts and different chesses
- Keron (10/5): Best hotel stay of our trip - Hotel Jose Antonio is located a few minutes away from the main town of Puno. It's a large hotel with a view of the lake, a lovely dining room and a large lounge with cozy evening fireplaces. Good breakfast spead. Rooms were spacious and comfortable, with everything one required. Since it's considered to be located 'out of town' by local tour operators, we had to pay 10 usd extra to get to the port to meet our tour group to the islands. It's actually only 10 minutes out of Puno center and that's what keeps the hotel peaceful.
- Arundathi (7/5): Good - Dated, needs upgrading. Old carpets and bathroom
- ryen2014 (10/5): Excellent service - We had a wonderful experience in Puno. The hotel although is not close to the center of town, is a beautiful place with great service. In the restaurant the food was very good and the staff were very friendly and nice specially Renzo, he was very polite and helpful.
The food was delicious and they had a good variety of dishes.
- 160sammya (10/5): Amazing food and service - Fantastic food and ambience. Fabulous experience Brian was amazing. Restaurant has great view by the lake with a fireplace in the center of the restaurant
- Lonavala2022 (10/5): Excellent service food..legacy...having stayed at sister properties in cusco and lima..The design of rooms are similar. The mater - Excellent service food..legacy...having stayed at sister properties in cusco and lima..The design of rooms are similar.
The material provided in rooms is of great quality.Erica and elegance..
The check in was not so smooth..infact..passport portability of details within their system should have been enabled long ago as they are all in peru.
Breakfast buffet is a treat...awesome variety and mind boggling.
A shout to Carmen for her hospitality and the nice egg omlette.
Clean passages with flowers..music and lake outside..
- helenlimyl (8/5): Jose Antonio hotel in Precious Puno jn Peru is a hotel with a beautiful view of lake Puno - Jose Antonio hotel in Precious Puno jn Peru is a hotel with a beautiful view of lake Puno. My room faced the lake. In May, you can catch the sun-rise at around 5:45am. The room and toilet is large, although a tad dated. We were in a tour group and did not have luxury of time to explore the nearby lake or the hotel amenities. Hotel offered the typical array of hot and cold breakfast dishes, and the hotel restaurant food was rather delish.
- 969alessiai (10/5): Love Puno and Perù 🇵🇪 - During our honeymoon in Perù 🇵🇪 we spent 2 amazing days in Puno living the magic atmosphere of Titicaca Lake ❤️
José Antonio Hotel in Puno is a fantastic location first for the view it offers, than for its large rooms and for the services. Thanks to Erik, really professional and nice waiter 🙏🏼
Perù will definitely always be in our hearts ❤️
- Lisa (8/5): Idyllic setting and Balenia is a credit to the hotel - I stayed last year. It’s the views. Very clean comfortable place. Breakfast is very varied and plentiful whether you are there early or near the end. This year I had a balcony (shared with 3 others I was at start. )
I have to mention one staff member on reception Balenia. She was exceptional! I was going to Uros Island 1 night then return for final night. I wanted to keep my room instead so I could just go back in and also not pack a bag! Balenia checked their rate which is double what I got through booking.com for final night!? She suggested I see if booking.com rate was better. It was! Also could still cancel Fri night for free and make it Thurs and Fri . She suggested when I finished to message the property and ask to stay in my room. Which I did and was agreed. It was half what the hotel rate direct was (bizarre in my experience)
Not only that when realising I was going to UROS she suggested I ring 0 and ask for the free oxygen. They give 10 mins free oxygen and she said it would help. It did. You are a bit of a captive audience as it is quite a taxi ride to the centre of Puno. But the restaurant is good - especially breakfast.
A bizarre one this but it uses the poorest standard of toilet paper compared to all other places I’ve stayed , including the homestay on UROS .
- M9012OGjamiew (10/5): The land of perpetual steps! - The views of Lagos Titicaca are spectacular and the hotel is very clean with excellent service. The buffet breakfast has something for everyone with beautiful presentation. The coca tea is the strongest that we have had and very effective. I will be recommending Hotel Jose Antonio to everyone that wants to visit southern Peru and Bolivia.
- Tiago (7/5): Good - Nice view of the lake, clean facility and nice staff. The wifi in my room was terrible, I was on the 3rd floor. It was good in the lobby though. The property is a bit far from the city, so you need a taxi or Uber if you plan on visiting/eating in the city.
- Hayfa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ambassador676712 (6/5): Comfortable hotel outside of Puno - A comfortable hotel outside of Puno. The staff were very friendly, especially Renzo in the restaurant. He was the outstanding one out of all the waiters.
The room was spacious and clean, and the shower was powerful. Because the room is so big, it’s very cold, and we couldn’t get the heating to work. However, it was fine because we had a small heater to use.
The main downside of this hotel is the restaurant. The food is very poor. We had two nights of bad meals for dinner. For example, using basmati rice and calling it a risotto, is not a risotto. It felt like everything was reheated. But to reiterate, the staff were great.
- Jecyliong (8/5): Very good -
- Nathalia (4/5): A disappointing stay - All the staff were wonderful and accommodating to their best ability. The property is meticulously clean and the buffet breakfast is truly superb. We were truly looking forward to spending our two last days in Puño at this higher-end lake-shore situated hotel away from the busy town. It came out there’s a heavy-traffic coastal road right between the property and the lake. It’s a really westernized hotel with not much character or authenticity. The first large corner room we were offered as a free upgrade was noisy beyond description because of traffic noise coming through its many windows. The only other option available was a small corner room with balcony on the other side of the building, which was a bit quieter but right next to the abandoned construction site. We enjoyed the comfortable bedding and cleanliness but overall it was our worst stay in Peru. Not a good value for money either, we feel it should have cost half that much.
- Dénes (8/5): Very good -
