Guest Reviews
- Kerri (10/5): Exceptional -
- Durgesh (4/5): Not worth staying - The private property Cob web in the washroom, spider near bed tables. AC not cooling properly.
- Martha (8/5): Lovely stay. Hosts lovely. We left items and they contacted us straight away. Easy entry. All positives - Location Very dark inside
- Andrew (7/5): Good - arrived and door was unlocked and not closed/was unable to close door when leaving the room/however they did have maintenance fix the following day
- Mcdonald (8/5): Very good - It was welcoming to have a cool r oom after traveling for hours on a hot day! Clean room to welcome us. The entrance was tricky at night.
- John (9/5): Terrific place for a large group to stay short term - travel booking person Athennie was terrific
pool was excellent Pricing policy - we had booked out whole place and there were additional charges for additional people - does not make sense
- Corryn (10/5): Historic House opens up for everyone to socialise but have privacy . SA Getaways very responsive to my call . We cooked - The Space was perfect for Christmas. We had three areas to group in actually 4 . Group of 24 but 12 slept in house . We had Meals together and Christmas together .
The place was cool with plenty of seats and cooking facilities. Lots of dishes to use and fridge space was perfect with 4 full sized fridges .
Place is old and you need to treat the antique with respect. Could have been bit cleaner for the 1 year old and 2 year olds as Rugs where old and floor boards need work. Lots of History . Maybe just replace rugs and a fresh couch in the front lounge would be helpful the antique one is bit uncomfortable and in need of restoration . Maybe better mopping facilities aswell for guests .
- Dianne (7/5): Good - The location was excellent. The service by the provider was fantastic. The facilities were also great.
- Paula (10/5): Exceptional - Quiet location. Close to town
Walking distance Nothing
- Tim (9/5): Superb - The house was excellent, we were a group of 9 on a boys trip away, plenty of facilities to suit our needs. Tried to use the BBQ, the grease tray caught fire, but we worked around it.it
- Ian (8/5): Very good -
- Carole (6/5): Very concerning photo identity checks. - The location and property were excellent. Beautiful old house with lovely period furniture, fittings and stained glass windows. Had no idea when paid in full at time of booking I would be required to send a selfie with my driver's licence to prove my identity. I had already paid in full and the property manager would not reveal the lock code until I did this. This requirement is very concerning and hard to understand when payment had already been taken. My group of friends were tired after travelling and just needed to rest so I complied very reluctantly. If my identity is compromised in the future I will hold this person responsible as I did ask that the photo be immediately destroyed after she saw it. I have never encountered this in all my years of using Booking.com. Myself and my friends will never book this property or use Getaways again.
- Raymond (9/5): Great 2 night stay. - Great vintage room. Open fire was a bonus. Great period house.
- Helen (8/5): A great property in Tanunda. - Lovely property with a fireplace and spa. Great location, close to everything the Barossa has to offer. It was a little cold in the bedroom. The air conditioning was working, but it didn't seem to be heating the room up much. It was an extremely cold day.
- Catharina (6/5): Pleasant -
- Judy (10/5): Exceptional - The booking can make bit more convenient and easier.
- Suzanne (6/5): I'm sure it will be lovely once all the renovations are completed. - The air conditioner was very noisy. Had to turn it off to get some sleep. The other rooms were undergoing renovation and the workers started at 4:30am. Couldn't go back to sleep after being woken so early.
- Katherine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Adrian (8/5): Very good -
- Peter (9/5): Superb -
- Tom (9/5): Great location and unique stay - Great older house with own en-suite. Laundry facilities were good and free. Nothing
- Weston (5/5): Passable - The BBQ, laundry, privacy The booking system was terrible, had to supply photos of myself holding creditcard another one holding drivers licence. Lack of bench space in the room and bathroom. Lack good seats and table to have meals. We were not comfortable there. Poor value for money.
- Daniel (8/5): Very good -
- Leanne (10/5): We enjoyed our time away. Very central to the Barossa Valley and was perfect for just two of us. - Location was great. Very easy to access and all that we needed for a couple of nights away. Very relaxing and reasonably quiet. Happy with the facilities as we were not planning on eating in. Microwave and fridge was all that we needed. Was a little concerned that we might have been too loud for the neighbours. Only separated by a door right where the TV was. Didn't get any complaints, just a personal concern. A bit difficult to access water for the kettle with only the bathroom sink available, but we managed. The front garden was a bit untidy. A lawn would have had more appeal in front of the Sapphire Dream room.
- Tom (2/5): Very poor - Nothing unfortunately The fridge failed, the toilets blocked, the bed pillows smelt of body odour. The spa was filthy, even after an apparent clean. We didn't use the spa, it was disgusting. The gardens were dead in front of our unit. We had no knives or forks our first night. There was no compendium, that was given to.us on day 3.
The toilets blocked, and the shower was leaking out on to the exterior porch.
The most disappointing stay I have ever experienced.
They should be reported for failing to clean their spa's properly, absolutely vile.
- Priestley (8/5): Very good - Located well we didn’t have breakfast Less noisier other guests no sound proofing you could hear anything and everything other guests were doing
- Tony (9/5): Loved the quaint and tranquil location - The lock box was as per the picture provided The details on were the room was unclear and a map showing the room location would have helped enormously
- Trudy (9/5): Superb -
- Gaz (8/5): Tell them they're dreaming... - Clean, comfortable with loads of character. The additional identification process demanded by the property managers felt draconian. Yes, after paying in full (non-refundable) through booking.com, be prepared to provide more personal details, a selfie, photo of photo ID, photo of credit card... because it's just fun to collect personal information and implement systems to protect the data! A confirmation phone call should be sufficient to reduce the risk of bogus bookings. Hopefully future visitors to the Barossa are greeted with a simpler and more appropriate system.
- Ron (6/5): Pleasant -
- Sharna (7/5): Good - The pool was amazing and such a lovely temperature and very clean. It was a great walking location to get I to Tanunda for dinner. They are two king singles joined, making the middle section quiet hard. There were also a few spiders and webs in the bathroom.
- Terri (8/5): We had a lovely time, pity we filmy stay longer to really take full advantage of the facilities. - Great position and a great deal of room. Nothing really.
- Jayesh (8/5): Nice place for short stay. - The location was good, the place has a free parking facility and a well equipped kitchen. The room has very poor sunlight coming in.
- Emma (5/5): Passable -
- Nichole (10/5): Had a fantastic stay - very comfortable for 5 couples. Loved it - Amazing property with loads of space 10.30 checkout
- Julie (10/5): Exceptional - Stunning old home!! Great location!
- Fiona (5/5): Good location but wasn’t a particularly comfortable. - Good location. Secure off-street parking. Lots of space. Quite old building and decor - was a bit creepy. Beds were hard and uncomfortable.
I didn’t realise the house was split into several sections and rented out separately. Only a door divided us and the other guests next door. We could hear everything - and I mean EVERYTHING!
- Bates (9/5): Girls trip. We had a blast staying here.It was great that there was enough rooms/beds ,for us all. - The house was amazing. It had all the basics that you need.eg milk, juice tea/coffee, and bathroom essentials. The gardens were a real delight 😊. Couple of taps dripping.
No outdoor spa.
- Nicholas (8/5): Very good -
- Dale (8/5): Very good -
- Sally (6/5): A cute cottage. - The location was good. We had a fire one night in our fireplace which was very cosy. It's a cute old place. It was extremely dark. The bed and pillows were terribly uncomfortable. Our room door had no lock and led to another guests room. Our friends next door didn't have an iron or ironing board. The did have a clothes rack and a separate wardrobe which seemed a bit odd.
- Knowles (9/5): Loved the character of this place, well equipped kitchen, very central & reLly enjoyed our stay! - We could have many rooms & living spaces. Only one toilet.
- Lena (7/5): Comfortable stay in a large house close to town - Location, easy to walk into town
Comfortable beds When we arrived our initial impression was a dark cold house. The shower in the extra bathroom was leaking and the dripping water into the tub was quite loud and could be heard in the room next door
- Simon (9/5): Great location, value for money, staff were friendly and their communication was excellent. - The room was beautifully presented and clean. The spa was a decent size and worked great. The room smelled of firewood when we entered it, was lovely.
- Marie (8/5): Highly recommend you won’t be disappointed - Old world charm homely property, has everything you need to make your stay great Beds could be softer, up that is personal choice
- Brian (9/5): Superb -
- Lois (7/5): A good place to stay just very disappointed with the cost for what we got - The food was fine but we took our own as most of us are gluten intolerant. The smoke from the next apartment was coming in under the door so we got smoked out in the loungeroom. Also the window we opened to let the smoke out didn't have a screen nor a lock.
Also the bed I slept in when I pulled back the covers to find my sock had a big brown mark on it and there were 3 long black hairs in my bed.
Sorry but the shower over the bath was just plain dangerous. The water went everywhere on the floor, the bathroom was freezing cold and my daughter inlaw couldn't have a shower cause she was on crutches and couldn't climb in the bath safely.
- Darryl (9/5): Excellent shall stay here again - Beautiful Home
- Sean (6/5): Pleasant - Great location. It’s a quaint romantic kind of room and the fireplace is beautiful. Missing basic maintenance - shower head is old as and sprays all over the bathroom
No quilt provided in middle of winter until we asked the second day
Firewood only provided for the first day, then it’s byo which is not mentioned in the add.
- Con (9/5): Beautiful home, very comfortable. loved the history of the home - Very easy to find and we were provided with the code promptly Shower rod in the bathroom came down on one of the guests. It looked like it may have happened before. Bit dangerous however hosts were quick to have this rectified.
- Cheydn (7/5): Good - Location Not enough wood, heater too cold
- Fiona (5/5): Nice location and lovely old world charm but horrible odour ruined our stay. - We liked the location and lovely fireplace. The overwhelming odour of urine, which lingered our whole stay. The floors were very dirty, the bathroom floor had hair and nail clippings left. The ironing board was lopsided and broken.
- Greg (8/5): Very good -
- Paul (8/5): Beautiful property in a great location - We were not too happy about the booking process of needing to send a photo of our drivers license and credit card online. Almost cancelled as it felt like a scam. We were told it was a booking.com policy but have never had this with booking.com before.
- Liz (8/5): Very good -
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Angela (10/5): Exceptional - We where blown away by the charm of this property, absolutely stunning
- Helen (1/5): Bad - Very noisy
- Penelope (8/5): Great spot to stay on our visit to the Barossa - we had our own little private area. We appreciated the home and decor. the other tenants were quite rude
- Phuong (10/5): Exceptional -
- Francis (8/5): Very good -
- Beatriz (5/5): Passable -
- Bruce (9/5): Very relaxing and charming hoose - Location was in the town .very nice house to stay in The lounge was not up to the standard of the charm of the house
- Paul (7/5): Good - Just the constant emails and phone calls in the lead up. I thought it was a scam.
- Martin (9/5): Superb -
- Barry (3/5): Poor - location
- Mario (8/5): Very good -
- Robb (10/5): lovely environment and location - Beautiful old home with stunning ceilings and cornices As I have difficulty walking due to arthritis everything is close and no steps. Outside we had our own private courtyard and it was quiet and relaxing. Good coffee tea and everything you need for a great stay we both found the bed hard but we do have sore joints
- Ronald (9/5): Superb -
- Katie (8/5): Very good - Charming little suite in a gorgeous location, with a short, easy walk to numerous shops, cafes and restaurants.
- Maria (10/5): great spot, walk to coffe, restaurants and shops - lovely big rooms, lots of kitchen facilities decor is a bit dated
- Carolyn (8/5): Very good - The location to restaurants was excellent, great character to the room, good facilities and easy to access room after hours.. parking was available Shower head had reduced spray and also had a leak which sprayed you in the face when turned on and sent water over shower screen, wetting the bathroom floor
- Barry (7/5): Good -
- Allan (9/5): Superb - Accommodation worked well for a group Stand alone bathroom was very historic but bath was difficult for older people getting in and out for a shower
- Sonia (9/5): Fabulous weekend away in the Barossa. Location was perfect. The house is a beautiful old style house with great amenitie - location was perfect. Great to have 4 bathrooms. nothing!
- Bronwen (7/5): Good -
- Ozana (8/5): Very good -
- Craig (7/5): Good -

- Victoria (5/5): Passable - old style a bit tired looking
- James (7/5): Good -
- matthew a (8/5): - Great Stay in the Barossa
Fire place & wood. Check
Great Location. Check
Would I return? Check
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Great location, but interior could do with some modernising and an update
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Well presented. Comfortable bed. The fireplace was the perfect touch for a cold winters night.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Will definitely return. - The venue is well located, roomy and well appointed. Some minor maintenance issues to be addressed (faulty powerpoint, leak in bathroom etc) and whilst it was probably cleaned after the last guests, following closure due to covid, it was very dusty, pile of leaves against the front door etc - a broom and duster would have been good. It's old and a little tired but that's part of the character. Diamond Dreams would be perfect for a family or group to have a holiday, relax, walk to local venues and attractions and enjoy the pool in good weather. We would happily return.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Very comfortable and spacious but not good value for money. Booked last minute and never received email with check in instructions, finally managed to get hold of someone so we could get inside. No instructions for wifi etc. Very disappointed as this property was expensive.
- David (8/5): Diamond Dreams - period style, modern convenience - Barossa Dreams is an old original Victorian mansion, split up into three suites. At the rear are two modern houses, sharing the car park. The spacious suite we stayed in, Diamond Dreams (3 double rooms, kitchen, dining room and lounge) was decorated in period style with high ceilings which may not suit everybody, but everything is of good quality and the owners are obviously thoughtful regarding the facilities required for a stay. I had some minor quibbles - the kitchen and dining room were dark without using artificial light, the lounge could have run to a large rug and more lamps - but overall the place was comfortable and very convenient for short strolls to the shops in Tanunda's Main Street. There was a large flatscreen TV, aircon in most rooms, WiFi, a communal laundry, and a splendid bathroom complete with bath (a rarity in most B&Bs). I can't speak for the other two suites, but I assume they were of the same standard, just smaller.
- Tortureddocker (6/5): Great location for walking into Tanunda - Whilst there is a lot of charm to this property its badly in need of some TLC, particularly in the bathroom.
I first stayed here some 10 years ago and I don't think anything has changed in that time.
Is it a nice place? yes. Is it comfortable? yes. The great thing it has going for it, is its l;location. You are probably a 5 -8 minute walk into the heart of Tanunda and its eateries.
- Carly (10/5): Beautiful place to stay - We stayed in the diamond suite and it was beautiful! You basically had a whole house for a really good price. The only downside was the bed wasn’t particularly comfy but after a full day of exploring the area we didn’t have any trouble sleeping.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Beautiful building - such an uncomfortable sleep - The building and room looked lovely and we were keen to settle in for the night until we went to sleep. The bed was particularly hard and made it extremely challenging to get any rest. At one point I wondered if we were sleeping on the base of an ensemble and someone had forgotten to put the top part of the mattress on. Then for most of the night the toilet was filling.
A few small changes and the room could be amazing.
- Elaine (10/5): Cute and cosy - The house is lovely and the apartment we had, Sapphire was really nice. Comfy bed, great bathroom, wood fire, we appointed. A couple of things that fell short, we had to phone and ask for firewood which was brought promptly and dishes had to be washed in the bathroom although a washing up bowl was provided (a per hate of mine). The house would also benefit from some better lighting as it is naturally quite dark and the small lamps provided are not adequate. All in all it was a lovely stay and the local area is very interesting. We did a winery tour with a small group which picked us up at the house, a great stay.
- grant (8/5): Beautiful old home transformed into wonderful acco - I have stayed at Barossa Dreams on 3 occasions and each time has been wonderful. Thoroughly recommend
- Verified traveler (6/5): classic old b&b on outskirts of town - Overall, a pleasant experience. Well equiped and spacious kitchen. Bed too hard. Noise from next units bathroom. Good pool and gardens.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The Ruby suite was poorly appointed. No cupboards for putting clothes and suitcases, no space in the bathroom for our own toiletrie. We walked immediately into the bedroom area from outside. The bedroom and kitchen should have been in different. Better to walk into kitchen and have bedroom somewhat secluded. The bed was very good and the house well situated. It was much too expensive fo what it was.
- Meyrick (8/5): Very relaxing weekend - Within walking distance of all that is to offer in Tanunda, Barossa Dreams is the perfect location to access the many cafe's and restaurants. A short drive opens up a multitude of Barossa experiences. We'll be doing it again for sure.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Cold drafty, in need of renovation - The heater did not work very well the room was cold, there were spider webs hanging from the ceiling, cracks in the floor and walls and general untidy feel about the place. Never again.
- Rodney (8/5): Lovely old house in the heart of the Barossa - The Diamond Dreams accommodation seems to take up most of the old house, with 3 bedrooms, kitchen, lounge and dining rooms, along with a lovely old charm bathroom (with a surprisingly good shower! The shower is over the bath though, so not for people unsteady on their feet...).
- fiona (8/5): Old world charm - Our stay was great, however the bed was incredibly hard and uncomfortable. My daughter slept on. The sofa bed which had an old inner spring mattress that had no padding so the metal springs were hurting her. The sofa bed needs a new mattress! At the price of the room we expected comfortable beds.
- Paul & Deb (6/5): Great position. - Two single beds pushed together, very uncofortable would not stay again :-(
