Guest Reviews
- margot (10/5): - All is perfect
Wonderful place
- Nicolas (10/5): Séjour magique - Séjour familial aux Gili magique. Très bel emplacement, service impeccable.
Adresse à retenir les yeux fermés
- Andy (6/5): - We enjoyed the friendly and helpful staff. However due to noise and paint smell problem from ongoing major building works on site (angle grinders etc) we were relocated to different place.
- Ariel (10/5): - Great place to stay! The cottages are so neat! And the service by the staff from reception to the restaurant and bar staff is excellent.
Would stay again - except for the loud music being played near the beach restaurants close to the resort. It is muted inside your cabin but you can still hear it - well into 11pm.
- Renée (10/5): Perfect stay - I had the most wonderful stay at Gili Teak. I ended up staying there for 4 nights and I just loved the place. The staff is very kind, friendly and helpful and the restaurant has really good food. Perfect location away from the parties and beautiful view from the beach. Cosy rooms and in general I just loved it. I’ll for sure be back!
- Sharon (10/5): Excellent location for quieter stay - Excellent stay at Gilli T as further around west of main noise so good spot for sunsets and less crowded with the youngsters. Excellent food service breakfast included in price. We booked a deluxe bungalow (no 1) so right alongside pool which was never too busy and you can cross the road to use beach facilities too.
To note- lot of rooms on Gilli T offer beach facing bedrooms but really they are simply that, facing out toward beach side as there is a road between hotels and sea so you are never actually on the beach to see the ocean as set back and down hill slightly so don’t expect a sea view as such.
Our room was spotless had a comfy bed superb double bathroom outside through door and staff were gr8. Free use of hotel bikes, better than having to use the poor horse and cart taxis in my view (that’s another story!)
West side of island good for sunset but the beaches are not as nice very rocky with corals so bear that in mind as only 2 tides per day too
- Andreas (8/5): - Schöne Unterkunft, aber Strand voll von kaputten Korallen. Baden macht keinen Spaß, da sehr flach und nur mit Badeschuhen nutzbar.
- Kenny (10/5): - Everything was fine. The staff was super friendly.
- Aaron (10/5): Great stay for a great price - We had a lovely stay here, for the price it is fantastic value. Is on the quieter side of the island which we really liked. Has got fantastic views on the beach for the sunset, with good sunset happy hour prices. Rooms were lovely, with the his and hers showers surrounded by fish a particularly unique highlight. Only, slightly misleading thing about the ad, is there is no spa here. Overall a great stay, I would recommend and stay again if we found ourselves back on the island.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Best hotel in Trawangan - We stayed for 4 nights. Overall we had excellent time here. The room was clean, the staff was smiling all the time and very kind and the food was so delicious. All foods from a la carte were tasty.
We definitely chose this hotel again.
- Feyza (10/5): - Lekker eten, vriendelijk personeel, schoon en mooi!
- Kim (8/5): - The rooms are stunning. Love all the woodwork. Beds were comfortable and the linen felt luxurious. Loved the outdoor showers! The property pool is divine. The restaurant provides delicious food and the staff are helpful and friendly. Bikes provided could with some maintenance. Highly recommend and would stay again. Gili T is beautiful.
- Mick (10/5): Brilliant customer service. - Mike on arrival was brilliant meeting our needs and sorting out what we needed. He had excellent contacts for horse riding and snorkelling. Would highly recommend the hotel and the food and staff are brilliant. The location is superb. Sunsets amazing
- Andreea (10/5): Nice bungalows, excellent staff and quiet location - We loved our cute bungalow, super clean, nicely decorated and with a beautiful outdoor bathroom with its own fish pond :)
The staff has been exceptional, always extremely friendly and attentive. The breakfast delicious, and also the other meals we had here. We liked the area because it was quiet at night with all the tourists partying on the other side of the island :) A definite bonus was the beautiful beach bar that the staff kept in excellent condition and of course the famous sunset views. Overall we enjoyed our staying! even if we found Gili T was not our type.
- Jeremy (10/5): Paradise found - Utopia. Nothing more nothing less.
- kyo (8/5): - Beautiful place but little far from the main town. Recommend to persons who love relax and not much people around you.
Amazing sunset every day is Bonus!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The cottage was clean, service was excellent and the food was amazing. I would definitely book this property again.
- Abigail (10/5): - Lovely sized
- Barry (10/5): Its not always about sand and sunsets.. - I can't speak highly enough about Terry and Tina idyllic Balinese cottages.
Food was excellent. Indonesian with European twists all well-presented and promptly served. A great selection of drinks and cocktails to go with the food, including some good French wines if you fancied a change from the local wines. There might not be a golden sandy beach to speak off but the sunset view more than makes up for it.
There is a greater emphasis now on travellers reducing there environmental impact and it is reassuring to see Teak embracing this but it is not just plastic bottles and reducing waste.
Gili Teak also invests in their staff, by developing their English and teaching them how to manage their finances better by educating them with banking skills. Where my respect truly lies is in how Terry and Tina are committed to the community. In 2018 after the dust settled from the Lombok Earthquake, when there was no power or electricity and all the boats left, Terry and Tina stayed.
They stayed for the community and for locals and they stayed to rebuild. By you staying at Gili Teak is nice way to contribute back to the Balinese community.
- Feroz (10/5): All great but the cycles - It was an amazing experience. My two complains are the fish in the bathroom should be fed and shoukd be more colorful. The second comment is the bicycles should have better seats. They are so uncomfortable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The location was great and the facility was very well kept, clean and the bungalows were wonderful! Its too bad that the beach isn't swimmable at this location but bikes are available and the island is very accessible and easy to get around. The food was OK at the restaurant but not our favourite spot on the island.
- Murf (10/5): - The property exceeded our expectations. They had an amazing staff who helped coordinate and plan my engagement proposal. Would stay again next time I'm on the island.
- JS (10/5): - Beautiful little gem on the beach! It is away from the busy area of the island, which was a big bonus for us, but still easy to bike or walk to. The restaurant served amazing food - we ate there almost all our meals. The free breakfast served up huge delicious portions! The staff were AMAZING! So friendly and great service! This side of the island has the best view of the sunset as well :).
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Gili Teak gave us a great feel of the island life and the staff was priceless as the were sooo friendly and helpful. Sleeping was great with not noise (that is very important to me).... loved the place!!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Lovely room and very thoughtful staff. Nice location with great views of the sunset every day. Food is quite good.
- Arianna (10/5): Elegant beach hotel on paradise island - Wonderful gem of a hotel, with great beach views, delicious food & drink, and a most unusual and gorgeous bathroom with his n hers showers surrounded by a real fish pond. The staff are friendly and helpful, and Terry, one of the owners, was lovely and welcoming.
The room was beautiful – very tastefully appointed, with a massive and comfy bed. There was also good air conditioning. We never noticed any lengthy power cuts (common on the Gili Islands) & found that the amount of power plugs was sufficient for us. The hotel provided free wifi.
The location was perfect, on the quiet side of the island, so you can actually get some sleep, but you are not too far from the action if you wish to check out the ‘party’ side as well. Bikes are available to rent from the front desk though we just walked and it didn’t take too long (about 25mins). You could also get a horse & cart to take you to town.
The food and cocktails are delicious, and can be ordered to your room’s balcony, or the restaurant, or to the beach. Breakfast, which is included, is amazing! The banana pancakes were the best I’ve ever had.
There’s a great selection of comfy seating provided on the beach. Note that the beach isn’t suitable for swimming as the water is very shallow. There is also a fair amount of dead coral at the beach (through no fault of Gili Teak!) which can make for uncomfortable walking, so make sure to pack your water shoes with you. The hotel pool is a better place for a cooling dip.
- Terese (10/5): Breakfast on the beach - Nice and quiet beach and the breakfast and food is decent. You sit right on the beach and can stare out over the ocean. I appreciate the fact that they care about minimizing plastic use. The outdoor bathroom is amazing and definitely something you'll remember!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loves the location was away from all the business but a quick bike ride to everything. Enjoyed the beach area and pool. Food was really good and the staff was very helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is like the best hotel in the island for a price. Hotel is brand new, very beautiful interior. Bathroom is just amazing. Hotel service is great and professional. The only problem we had is a heat. Around a day villa got so hot that air conditioning can't handle it. At the restaurant there is really extensive choice of European breakfast, but you need everytime ask for any additions (like fruit platter or jam). Restaurant food for lunch and dinner is awesome, no need to drive somewhere else. Beach is perfect, but be warned that you can't swim on this side of the island!
Overall experience is great, highly recommend this hotel for quite and chilled stay.
- david (10/5): On the beach 5* Luxury - Fabulous room. All the staff go out of their way to make sure you have a wonderful stay. Room was large, clean and kitted out with quality linen and towels.Outside bathroom was amazing. Tina and Terry were wonderful owners - They interacted well with us and made us feel very welcome. Breakfasts were cooked to order and yummy. We also tried fish and chips- best I have tasted for a long time. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
- Andrew (10/5): Beautiful, quiet and friendly. - The resort was great. We stayed for 6 days and it was the perfect location for us. There's not a lot around the resort area, I suspect because of the earthquake, but that just made it quieter which we wanted.
The view of the sunset is great, a lot of people from the east side, the party side, came over and grabbed a chair to watch the sunset.
The rooms are well done and super clean. We loved the fish pond in the bathroom, just another nice touch.
The food was very good too. Not just taste but also selection, good variety of indonesian and western fare.
The staff were all super nice and every group/couple we spoke to all had positive things to say.
The only negative comment I have is that the pool tiles were loose or missing, again I suspect from the earthquake. But not a big deal, the pool was a God send for the hot days, or even during the evening.
If we come back to Gili T we'd book this place again without hesitation.
- Danny (10/5): Very nice Hotel, we loved it! - This is a very nice hotel, it is set on the beech with a pool and a very luxurious feel. The rooms are very nice with great facilities. I really recommend this hotel.
- M (10/5): Gili teak - Excellent stay. Staff could not do enough from the moment we booked. Would recommend to anybody.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great place to stay. Clean resort and very cozy. Great breakfast and very good coffee.
- Anne (10/5): Peaceful beachside paradise - Lovely place on the best part of Gili T. Fantastic service, beautiful decor, awesome breakfast, perfect beach views. Was perfect for our mini honeymoon getaway. Have been to Gili T many times and this will be my new go to spot to stay as is also a great value for the price.
- Elly (10/5): Best place to stay on Gili T! - This place is truly amazing! The location is perfect, the best place to see the sunset, a little bike from the crazier side of the island but we welcomed that as I'm sure most would! The owners are absolutely lovely and have a wealth of knowledge of the island, we had several great recommendations. The rooms are amazing, bright, clean, new and the outdoor bathroom is incredible! The staff were all incredible too, friendly, attentive, couldn't do enough. The breakfast was brilliant and had a great meal in the restaurant too. Absolutely fantastic experience and not a single negative thing to say about here!
- Sandra (10/5): Clean, comfortable and great breakfasts! - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Gili Teak. Our room was very comfortable and quiet with an amazing outdoor bathroom with fish swimming in it! The breakfast was the best we have had in Bali with so much choice! This is a wonderful resort and we would definitely stay here again!
- Markus (10/5): Such a sweet stay - First visit to the island and thanks to my friends on Expedia chose to stay here. Reasonably priced, breakfast included. Lovely restaurant and another right next door. Staff were friendly and helpful. The beach is sublime. The entire place is simplicity and perfection.
We will be back.
- Joe (8/5): Lovely resort in a great position on Gili T - We had a lovely stay in Gili Teak and found the staff and resort to be perfect for us - the location is good if you don't want to be right in the centre of Gili Trawangan but don't mind a short walk to the centre. Being incredibly close to the beach is great and the sunsets are amazing. Our room was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed, with a particularly good shower.
- Laurent (10/5): Very comfortable place - Bungalows have a fantastic design and the gardens are beautiful and very well maintained. The hotel is by the beach and the restaurant serves good food. A perfect, quiet place to appreciate the sunset, away from the other places playing loud beat music. Breakfasts are amazing, I never thought I could get bacon and espresso coffee like that so far away from home!
- Chloe (10/5): Must stay - Absolutely amazing. The best hotel we stayed in. Staff were so friendly and helpful. The room and bathroom was amazing and so luxurious to stay in. Lovely choice of breakfast with the best view.
- Vandana (2/5): Empty pool and wifi not working - Please be aware - the hotel has no pool (it's empty) and had no wifi for the past three days when we arrived on 25 Jan. The front office guy insisted the empty pool was noted on its website - it wasn't and he had no answer when I showed him the page saying they had a bespoke freshwater pool. He also said the wifi had not been working the previous three days. What irked most was the hotel's indifferent attitude - they just did not care that we were unhappy and did not negotiate at all, eg they refused a discounted room price or any other perk for the no pool/wifi. I'd been really looking forward to staying after all the great reviews but unfortunate had to cancel and get a refund through my hotel booking service.
- Bhawna (8/5): Excellent new resort in Gili T - We had a comfortable stay here and it is an ideal resort for a relaxing holiday. The resort is newly built and right infront of the beach. The beach restaurant serves great food and cocktails! It is a little far from the main jetty where the boats drop you from bali. The cidomo (horse cart) charges IDR 100,000 for a one way trip. For the rest of the stay you can hire a bicycle and go around the island conveniently. Overall the resort was great but it lacked a certain cozy feeling which I prefer while traveling. Worth a stay, no issues whatsoever so figure out for yourself if you like it :)
- Ata (8/5): - Hotel is fantastic with absolutely amazing staff. Only not so great thing is the food.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice bungalows on the quiet side of the Gili T. - Overall good food, good staff. Very attentive and helpful. Pool was nice. Rooms were very large and comfortable, specially the outdoor showers.
- Andre (8/5): quiet hotel away from busy downtown - hotel is recently open so is in a very good shape, hosts are very friendly and also arranged for us a smooth transfer to and from Gili including car, fast boat and Cidomo.
- Verified traveler (10/5): staff couldnt have done more for us - stayed as a couple in october. Cannot fault this place. The rooms are uniquely designed and very comfortable. Such a friendly welcome to the hotel on arrival. Clean pool and lovely beach area. The staff were fantastic and nothing was too much trouble. I would only say the location is maybe a bit too far out in terms of walking into town but bicycle hire enabled us to get around easily enough. On the other hand the beach was much quieter and you can watch the sunset right infront of the hotel. Food was also amazing and would happily eat dinner at the hotel. Wifi was a bit hit and miss but who cares. Fantastic end to a wonderful trip, shame your 9000 miles away!!
- Richard (10/5): Pretty close to perfect! - We spent the final 3 nights of our holiday here, and loved every minute of it. Terry & Tina went out of their way to make the stay special, and all of the staff were very genuine. It's a relatively small resort with 8 bungalows/villas (2 more on the way), but on the beachside you can find their excellent restaurant/bar area, the perfect spot to watch sunset from. We rented bikes there too which were in good condition, and although it's only 5 minutes ride away from the main "strip", it's totally peaceful and relaxed. Loved it!
- Lisa (10/5): Chilled and laid back - Lauren and her team were excellent hosts and made it a very chilled out and laid back stay in a beautiful setting. Just what we wanted!
- Brooke (10/5): Beautiful paradise - The location was amazing (right across from the beach and away from the central/'party area'). The room was really clean and the outdoor bathroom (with the rainfall shower) was breathtaking. The staff and owners were very friendly and willing to do anything to make your stay even better. The breakfast was good but the tables on the beach made it even better. Also make sure you take time to enjoy the gorgeous sunset from the comforts of the White sand beach as it was amazing.
- Sophie (8/5): Great boutique hotel in peaceful location - The staff here are exceptional; very friendly, informative and attentive. The one bed cottage we stayed in was near new and beautifully decorated, the outdoor bathroom in particular was very special. There are beautiful flowers decorating the walkway which was a delight to walk down to our cottage each time. The location is on the west side of the island which is lovely and peaceful with a convenient bar and restaurant looking out to the sea. The sun sets on this side of the island which was a delight to watch with a cocktail every evening before heading out to dinner. The breakfast was freshly made to order and delicious. We are a young couple and found the location perfect as we hired bicycles from the resort and cycled to the more lively eastern side which only took 10 mins and meant for a peaceful nights sleep. The only issue we encountered was when the water supply cut off on two occasions, we were warned about this when we first arrived and it was an unfortunate coincidence to happen during our stay. The staff were extremely apologetic and provided us with extra drinking water during the outage. Despite this we would still highly recommend staying at Gili Teak, Thank you!
- Marina (10/5): Ideal Getaway - We loved everything about this resort, the staff were fabulous, the rooms were comfortable, location was away from the centre of town but this was a positive for us. Check in was excellent, we were given all the information we needed about the island.
- Clive (10/5): A little piece of paradise - Stayed here for three days. Wished we’d been able to stay longer. Our unit was a tastefully and stylishly-decorated detached cabin constructed of reclaimed teak. The attached outdoor bathroom was gorgeous too. We ate and drank in the hotel’s beach-side restaurant every night. A lovely setting, friendly bar staff, and some of the best food we ate during our three-week stay in Bali. Two standouts were the caeser salad and the fish and chips. Hope to visit again soon.
