Guest Reviews
- Louise (10/5): - We have stayed here before and this time was just as good. Lovely accommodation clean and spacious, comfortable bed
- Carmel (10/5): - A beautiful, clean room. Very comfortable, everything you could need was provided.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Really handy and really clean.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Solo but not single.... - I was on a solo road trip and so, for some reason, I was allocated a room with 2 single beds - I detest single beds and haven't slept in one since I was a nipper. Why I couldn't have a double bed I know not but it spoiled the overnight stay for me. Other than that everything was provided: cutlery; pots; coffee; toiletries fans. It would have been excellent if I could have slept in a larger bed.
- Bruce (10/5): Excellent overnight stay - The room was of a good size - room for a large double and a single.
There was also a fold up table and chairs, which you could use if you wanted.
Added bonus of a small fridge, and the tea/coffee supplies were generous, including biscuits and hot chocolate.
- Rachel (10/5): Our Stay - The booking was smooth and when we arrived the room had everything we needed. The location is quite central with plenty of restaurants around. We only stayed for one night but more than happy to return.
- andy (6/5): Sound proofing needed - Room 5 was lovely.
There was however very little sound proofing so when 2 or 3 groups partied in room 4 we heard it all.
- Shelby (10/5): Super helpful! - Amazing customer service that helped make the business trip a little less stressful! They kindly let us store our stuff in a room a few hours past check out, which really helped as we traveled by train. They were quick to reply and very kind! Thank you!
- jane (10/5): - Really lovely room and bathroom. Easy parking. Pub next door is busy but not noisy. Friendly service on check-in. Lots of options for food locally.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Recommended! - Fine for family of 3. Comfy, clean, modern interior, loved the idea of a barn conversion, located in nice small town with friendly people, walking distance to train station, walking distance to local co-op. Next to the White Lion Pub. Lovely pub, friendly service, grabbed breakfast and lunch. Jackie [coaching barns) was always available when called. Angie and Sharon (pub) are very friendly. Great service overall. An enjoyable stay. Affordable. Will visit again.
- Sally (10/5): Great place to stay. - We had a very comfortable stay. The room was very well appointed, attention to details was obvious and the addition of bowls and plates, etc was much appreciated. Would have washed up after ourselves if there’d been detergent, etc. We would definitely recommend this accommodation.
- Jean (8/5): - No windows in the room on a very very hot night
Good bathroom.
- Aimee (10/5): - Such a quaint little property with all the basic necessities for a small stay! Lovely bedding and a comfy bed. Spacious bathroom with cute amenities if having forgotten shower gel etc.
It was just enough for us for 2 days although we didn’t realise it’s right next to a pub which had live music on until late and started relatively early the next day so if you’d prefer a quieter stay I’d bare that in mind. (Although we didn’t mind, it’s a lovely pub with a garden to listen and relax to it). Next to loads of choice of restaurants too. Very central. Would visit again!
- ROY (10/5): - Very clean and modern, highly maintained
- james (8/5): - Nicely positioned central to the small town. I especially like the extra touches, the fridge and the plates etc.
- Stephen (10/5): - Brilliant
- Dave (10/5): Perfect place for cyclists stopover - Needed a stopover point for 100 mile bike ride and the Coaching Barns was absolutely perfect. Nice, clean modern but simple room with double bed, shower, TV and plenty of tea & coffee. It’s literally 10mtrs from the White Lion pub, so not far to walk for a few refreshing drinks after a long ride. For any cyclists looking for easy accommodation on a ride out then you won’t be disappointed. Plenty restaurants in walking distance and something most peoples tastes.
- Lois (10/5): 2 night stay - The room was clean and very comfortable. Small fridge, crockery and cutlery were very useful. Shower room clean and toiletries supplied.
The only issue is the shared car park, with the pub, and the risk of being unable to park there.
- Stuart (8/5): Comfortable - Comfortable, table in the room able to do work which was nice.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great value - Great value for a short stay. Clean & well looked after.
- tracy (10/5): - V clean, fresh, comfortable, well equipped, spacious en suite, park right outside door motel style. Contact free check-in was clear and easy. All good
- James (8/5): - The bed was the only problem- mattress uncomfortable
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Super clean
- Chris (10/5): - Very nice stay
- Peter (8/5): Central and spotless, but a bit chilly - Spotless little room, though a bit cramped; bathroom more spacious, and gleaming - shower mat much appreciated. Main drawback was no table/desk you could sit at to work on a laptop, or put on ones make-up (I imagine!); and the thermostat needs to be adjusted (timings and temperatures) - the room was often chilly
- Verified traveler (8/5): Clean & convenient - Perfect for our overnight stay. Very clean, great shower.
- Lauren (10/5): - Really lovely little place. Convenient location to amenities.
Very clean and comfortable room
- Andrew (10/5): Lovely place to stay - Clean and pleasant stay , would highly recommend
- DAVID (8/5): Comfortable 3 night break - Exactly as described the accom is small & spotlessly clean. There is a kettle with coffee & tea provided & we also had a couple of plates & knives & forks which we used when we got a Chinese takeaway. But no real outside space to eat as the parking is shared with a pub very close by.
- Paul Rymer (8/5): - The rooms were very nice and clean - perfect for a short break. Modern shower room with nice towels and tea/coffee making facilities. Nothing was too much trouble we needed just texted the owners.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Coaching barns were clean & safe, stayed here for 1 night whilst attending a wedding at Hawkstone Hall (quick taxi over and back) very convenient
- Samantha (10/5): Lovely comfortable stay - Clean comfortable room. Room was very hot but that due to hot weather we have had. There was a fan provided. Lovely shower. Would recommend.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Room very clean and comfortable. Good size shower room.
Our room had a fridge in. There was also plates and cutlery provided so good if you wanted a takeaway from one of the nearby places. Co op, Chinese and fish chip shop about 2 mins walk away.
Would definitely stay here again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was clean, pleasant and had everything for a 1 night stay. Towels were particularly soft and fluffy. Any longer and I'd need breakfast facilities.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Town centre location with parking and next door to a well maintained, traditional, public house. Renovated to a high standard, the old coaching barns have been finished with attention to detail and quality fixtures and fittings. Enjoyed a very comfortable stay and would definitely stay again when visiting that area of Shropshire and will recommend to family and friends.
- Simone (8/5): Great pace to stay. - The Coaching Barns was lovely. The lady we dealt with was very helpful, and when we had a slight hiccup, she sorted it, within a minute. The room was a good size, with plenty of shelving space. The en-suite was very good with an excellent shower. Might need a little paint touch up, but was by far, one of the cleanest and immaculate place, we have stayed in years. The TV had the best Free View channels, we have ever experienced, both here and in Europe. Only problem was the TV was quite high up, and it made our necks ache looking up for so long, but this was a minor problem.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved the central location
- Michael (8/5): Good value, nicely designed rooms. - Great communication from Jackie. Room great value. fridge provided as breakfast not available. Be aware that pub is next door across the car park, and will be lively in garden (didn't trouble us).
- Glen (4/5): - In room 5 was ok until the noise of next door kept me awake until early hours with their drunken partying. Walls need sound proofing if i ever stay there again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location, clean and right next to a cracking pub what more do you need.
- Gary (10/5): Great value . - A very clean and comfortable room with a good selection of teas, coffees etc . Couldn't be more central within a short walk of pubs, restaurants and shops . Also very reasonably priced . Will definitely stay again when visiting family .
- P (10/5): coaching barns, Wem - it was not easy to find but when we found it, it was great a very nice place. The only thing that could be improved was the fact that the shower had no marking to tell me which way to turn it to get the right temperature.
- David (10/5): - Brilliant room was excellent
- Catherine P P (10/5): A llovely place to recommend - Lovely room, clean. However, can the cups be cleaned properly. I had to wash them again. The bed was comfortable. Little touches like tea and coffee as well as plates and cutlery add to the enjoyment of the stay. The shower was beautiful, although, it was quite hard to turn the tap to get the right temperature.
Also, it would have been nice if we were asked how our stay was by the people in charge. Unless their job is to only hand and collect the keys.
Still, i would recommend the Coaching Barns to people. It's worth the money as a base to explore the area.
- Carole (10/5): Christmas Quest 🎄 - Great location for exploring local area. Very high standards across the board.
Fantastic customer service ,friendly and welcoming .
Two great pubs on the doorstep , the White Lion and the Castle. We ate in the Castle ,and it was lovely ,staff very helpful and friendly ,food was great recommend to check it out .
All in all great break .
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice and warm - Great and easy check in ticks all the boxes
- Patricia (8/5): Second stay here - We had a lovely stay room was very clean only complaint we had was second night was kept awake till 3.30 in the morning to ladys in room 4 very drunk loud .other one thing was no inernet all weekend
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is the second time we have stayed here i would highly recommend a stay at the coaching barns
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Everything was good although the neighbours were a little noisy.
- Jennifer (10/5): Lovely - Lovely little place to stay while working in the village of Wem. Parking was handy and very close to all the action. There’s a co-op around the corner too. My room came with a fridge which was really handy.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Huge bed which was really comfy! Clean modern bathroom and all the facilities we could need for our overnight stay! Staff were extremely helpful and would highly recommend
- Lyn (10/5): - Room was clean and comfortable with everything you need... King size bed, tea and coffee, TV, good free WiFi, and nice clean private shower room.
- helen (6/5): Shame about the holes and noise - Stayed for 1 night. Had to park in pay and fisplsyvas hog roast and other stalls were being set up outside the rooms ready for carnival type event the next day. True to their word 6am the noise started. Had we known then we would of stayed elsewhere. Room was ok apart from holes in the wall in bathroom where the towel rail had been replaced, tv that high up it cranked your neck, warm water coming old cold tap and worst of all the bed was rock hard. No one to speak to re problems as keys had to be put in a box on leaving as the pub are just key holders.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Clean comfortable and great value. - This place was perfect for us who were just passing through. It was immaculately clean and comfortable. Despite it being a Saturday night with live music at the pub next door, we didn’t hear a thing. The only complaint we had was that the fan was very rattly and it was a super hot night due to the weather...
- jane (8/5): When in Wem, sleep in one of The Coaching Barns. - Really good value for money. A clean, well equipped room to spend the night in.
- John (10/5): Lovely - Great location for the UK Ultimate triathlon
- Andrea (10/5): Perfect little room for our 1 night stay! - Had a lovely one night stay at The Coaching Barns. Room was perfect, bathroom great and beds really comfy. Located next to pub but no noise problems. Walked down the road to local curry house in the evening and found a little cafe for next morning for breakfast.
- james (6/5): 5 rooms in a car park. - Only 1 room with nowhere to sit down except the bed open the door to a car park . Can't open the blinds as people are coming to there cars all day so you have No privacy so you have to keep the blinds closed all the time.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Parking directly outside the room. Quiet. Didn't use the bar or other facilities in the area.
- Sophie (10/5): - Clean lovely stay. I am absolutely impressed with our stay here. So private and well maintained. The lady in charge was brilliant and the pub attached had a very helpful member of staff who helped me when I needed it. Do not delay book a trip and stay here you will be impressed. we stayed in the triple room and the bed was huge! So huge and comfy that it has inspired me to buy is a new superking bed =)
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It's nice, clean, modern and comfortable. Easy for parking and friendly staff.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - pros- clean, comfortable bed, in the town, friendly staff
Cons- small, no common
- ARSHAD (10/5): Lovely escape to country side - very clean and tidy room
quite and parking in front of the room. like a motel but far far better than a motel
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely clean and cosy room. Will be booking again.
- Andrew (10/5): Good Stay - Comfortable stay for 1 night. Didn’t get to see much of the area but no issues with noise considering it was a Saturday night with close proximity to the pub. Would stay again.
- Elizabeth (8/5): Quick night at the Coaching Barns - The Coaching Barns was find for a short night stay. WiFi was not good and the room was simple, but fine for our needs.
- Doug (10/5): Top notch stay - Easy check in and lovely place, decor great and bed very big comfy!
- robert (8/5): Reasonable value - Could benefit by reserved parking outside chalet. Pub was a little noisy and breakfast we bought from the town hall and got soaked in the process. For the money it's reasonable value but we prefer breakfast to be in with the price.
- Roxanne (10/5): - Excellent room, spacious and airy. Although near a pub, I didn’t notice any noise at all, which surprised me. The staff at the pub, where you collect your keys were helpful, courteous and honestly couldn’t have been more attentive.
- David (8/5): - Excellent room but 2 points to bring to notice firstly when we arrived at 3.15pm the heating had not come on and the Rooms were very cold we had to go to the pub to get a member of staff to turn the heating on. Secondly in the morning when we came to have a shower the hot water was cold even in the wash basin so we had to boil the kettle and fill the bathroom room wash basin and have a strip wash not the best thing to do.
- s (8/5): - Great place to stay , clean & modern. Right in the middle of Wem but very quite. Would stay again
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great motel style rooms, just across carpark from a good pub.
- Sal (10/5): - Staff were excellent very clean lovely room I would definitely book again
- ronald stanley (10/5): For a great area to relax. - Great stay slept very well ,very quiet just what we wanted. Area also quiet not many choices to eat out but short distances by car found just what we wanted, information given in hotel room was very useful.

- Phill (8/5): Friendly bar staff - Was a great nite out. Live music and friendly people in pub
- David (8/5): Basic but just what we needed! - Room was clean and ready when we checked in, had to collect Key from the pub. Bed was comfy and we had a good nights' sleep. Would recommend The Fruitful Deli round the corner for breakfast (the pub don't do breakfast) too!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Wonderful Wem - Extremely impressed by the cleanliness of both the room and the adjacent pub, the White Lion.
Easy check in, friendly staff and good location for our requirements.
Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend or use again.

- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect for our needs. - The warmth and standard of the room was most welcome after motorcycling in torrential rain. Comfortable bed and high standard of decor.
- Terry (8/5): Fine for short stay. - Rooms were well-appointed. Entrance to car-park could be better sign-posted.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean. Comfortable bed. Room 1 doesn’t have any windows, only a door but the high ceiling made it airy and not stuffy. Fridge provided in room. Just wanted a bed as busy all day til mid night at a festival. Parking might be a problem if you came back when the pub was open as it’s also customer parking. Wasn’t there when pub was open so don’t know if it would have been noisy. Perfect for what I wanted.
- nicky (10/5): Excellent accommodation - Gorgeous rooms, great big bathroom. Very clean and decorated lovely. Everything you need, and the mini fridge was a great touch. Close to Shrewsbury. Would highly recommend great value for money.

Fridge was a great idea and very useful.
Will stay again if I’m the area
