Guest Reviews
- Melinda (6/5): Place was clean , good breakfast buffet - Close to sessions road , walking distance to many places. Staff were professional. Place was clean , nothing fancy as far as decor or furniture, has just what you need . A cupule of issues , the toilet has a foot flush I pressed it down only a little water went down , need to keep foot on the flusher until it flushes all the way . Another thing was the shower. There was a sign to heat water to turn all the left and wait 10- 15 minutes. .when time I turned on the shower , the water was trickling out of the shower head low water pressure. Attempted to adjust, the water pressure only better if it was turned all the way to cold , so I was unable to wash my hair because did not want to use cold water and if I used hot or warm the water pressure would have not been enough to get the shampoo or conditioner out of my hair.
There is an included breakfast buffet which was very good , many choices to choose from , traditional filipino breakfast food , pancit , variety of pastries and desserts, there was a station were they were making eggs , omelets and pancakes.
- Keshab Raj (6/5): - Just a average stay. Lots of papers in rooms can be explained during c/in. Breakfast buffet less selections. Chicken wing’s dressing should not be just mayonnaise or ketchup. No power outlets on bed side table , no table lamps . Entrance security guards are friendly and helpful.
- Marvin (10/5): Vacation - Amazing hotel..when in Baguio we enjoy staying here..Good value and close to many restaurants. Staff is friendly and helpful.
- Carter (2/5): - My sheets were stained with something unmentionable, there is not a single drawer in the room, the TV connection was terrible. The lighting is terrible, there is only one plug in the room that is nowhere near the bed. They charged me an exorbitant rate for tacking on one more day. Period stay away from this property.
- Librada (8/5): - staff are very helpful
- George (4/5): - Breakfast was good. Service and quality of rooms could be better. Close to shopping area and dining areas
- Carlos (8/5): - What we didn’t like- no refrigerator, no ice machine had to call to request, lighting in the bathroom is dim.
The water in the shower does not drain much, it took a day.
What we like- walkable to Session Rd, Cathedral and SM. Staff are helpful and friendly.
- Fernando (8/5): - I like it because it was close to a lot places I wanted to visit
- Steven (10/5): - My favorite Baguio hotel—close to mall, rooftop breakfast
- Jemil (4/5): - Dont u dare, the place is not convenient and noisy u can hear all the noise from outside, terrible bathroom that doesnt have exhaust fan,
Not worth the money to stay here.. go elsewhere
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice and clean but needs maintenance. Staff are welcoming and helpful.
- Luis (4/5): - Buffet is descent
- jamesfelinop (10/5): Excellent Service. Front desk is 24 hours available. The breakfast buffet was sooooo good! The restaurant crew were A++ - The staff were very accommodating, friendly and very professional. Clean and tidy. Our needs were attended to very well. Walking distance to SM and to the Cathedral. And to Session Road. Which allowed us to enjoy nightlife in Baguio. Excellent hotel.
- Maria (8/5): - Love the front desk girl and the security guard.Adell and Ariam, security guard Steve, they are very helpful and informative. Good to have on your team.
- Felix (10/5): - Breakfast buffet was excellent! Professional and friendly staff!
- Steven (10/5): - I stay here every time I go to Baguio. It’s great. Rooftop breakfast, great coffee shop, large rooms, very hospitable place, close to SM Mall
- Maria Theresa (4/5): - Woke up in the middle of the night because of loud tv noise from other room. Called front desk but unfortunately no one answered. Went down to complain, but the issue was not resolved immediately.
- Lenita (8/5): - Location poor
- Aurora (6/5): - Right at the heart of the city, walking distance to the mall, cathedral, Burnham Park and restaurants. I enjoyed the breakfast buffet and the room is big enough for four people. The live music at night is very entertaining. The entrance/reception is inviting but the overall condition of the building is old and needs renovation. The bed is too firm, the water in the shower is too weak, and the walls doesn’t have soundproofing.
- SAMUEL (8/5): - Pillows should have been thicker for better comfort.
- Maricel (6/5): - Clean, walking distance to session road. Staffs are not very accomodating you have to ask them multiple times before they attend to your request. Toilet and Shower pressure is too low. Buffet breakfast is good.
- raizegb (2/5): This hotel was hands down the worst we've ever stayed at. - Terrible service of the staff, unproffesional hotel staff. Unhelpful staff poor room quality and overall lack of basic standards. worst hotel i've been.
The front desk staff was completely unhelpful, ignored our requests, and seemed annoyed by our presence.
The room was outdated.
This hotel was hands down the worst we've ever stayed at.
- Rodney J (8/5): City lights hotel - Hotel is clean, staff are helpful but beds are very firm/hard but still decent sleep. Also missing a mini fridge especially when staying more than a few days but in fairness it’s a good value hotel.
- Drexel Bryan (10/5): - Breakfast
- Belle (8/5): - Very convinient, affordable and clean hotel. My favorite place to stay in Baguio City.
- Carl (8/5): - Great hotel very convenient to center city and walkable to many dining options plus SM Mall. Staff was very helpful and accommodating. Buffet breakfast upstairs was great, inexpensive a nice start to the day of sightseeing. Only drawback was in middle of college area and seen and many young people using the facilities we which ok but at times noisy. Also try to avoid second floor due to banquet facilities in lower level make it a bit noisy in evenings. All and all a great value and superior staff, my wife and I stayed 5 nights and would come back.
- CARLA BEATRIX (4/5): - The building is already old and very noisy even during night time.
- Mary Crista Janine (10/5): - Will do it over and over again
- Randolph (8/5): Fantastic Stay - We stayed at the Citylight Hotel for three nights this November 2024. The hotel is very close to the Session Rd. and only a walking distance to the Cathedral. The breakfast buffet was descent, but I've seen better and more options elsewhere. Overall, our stay was fantastic and would consider staying at the same hotel again.
- Verified traveler (4/5): No Quiet - Be prepared for noise, a lot of it. There is construction on the building next door. Also, the penthouse serves food and plays music all day and night until 12am. You will hear party atmosphere all the time until then. I would not recommend staying here if you want quiet and rest. This hotel seems more geared toward college students.
- Jose (10/5): Weekend vacation - Weekend vacation with family
- Helen (10/5): - Excellent and satisfied
- Trish (4/5): - My aunt and uncle stayed for 2 days
- Brian V. (6/5): - I specifically requested a room with a view for my mom, they gave her a construction view. Thats very inconsiderate despite the request.
- jcmacalindol (8/5): Place is not for digital nomads - Staff are warm and approachable.
Location is very well placed near the key tourists spots in the city.
Room is spacious and well priced
Buffet breakfast is good
---
The only thing preventing me from giving this place a perfect score is the WIFI.
Yes they have free wifi, but it's not reliable and not even useable. If you can look beyond the issue with the wifi, this place is great for its price.
- budoyp (10/5): Exceptional service and improvement at Citylight Hotel - we stayed here in 2022 and I must say that the hotel has improved since our previous visit. From the moment we arrived, we were treated with exceptional service that went above and beyond. I had specifically requested a special room setup for my partner's birthday, and the hotel exceeded my expectations. Upon entering our room, we were greeted with a beautifully prepared setup, complete with a complimentary cake and a special greeting from the Hotel Manager. It was a lovely touch that made our stay even more memorable. The room itself was clean and well-maintained, and the overall facilities were spotless. The buffet restaurant was another highlight of our stay, with a very good selection of dishes. The service at the restaurant was also excellent, friendly and attentive staff.
Overall, we were impressed by the personal touch and attention to detail that the hotel's staff showed. It was clear that they were genuinely invested in ensuring that we had a wonderful experience at the hotel. The hotel's management should be commended for their efforts to improve and provide exceptional service to their guests. We will definitely be returning to Citylight Hotel in the future.
- Francis (10/5): - All around a great hidden gem. We have our own place in Baguio but we wanted somewhere close to Session road and SM mall and this was such a great place. Hopefully in place of the beautiful park tarpuline will be replaced with a beautiful painted mural just like the park photo to make the reception area even more inviting and relaxing. Thank you for staff that made our short stay wonder and will remember to come back with referrals to friends to also visit. Unfortunately you have no control who maybe checking in and in our stay, there was a group that was making too much noise in the late evening. Hotel staff eventually made them stop. Upon checking, this quiet time policy (Posted in the rooms) in the evening hours should be emphasized and strictly enforced for the benefit of all guests and staff. All other aspects of our stay was great for my family who booked two adjacent rooms.
- Steven (10/5): - This hotel is a 10 minute walk to the mall and to sessions Road. They have a great rooftop breakfast buffet that is always a wind. And the rooms are comfortable.
- Steven (10/5): - Every time I go to Baguio I stay at CityLight. Great breakfast, spacious rooms, convenient location to mall and Sessions road and incredible staff
- roberto (6/5): - The breakfast buffet food was not that good and there was a consistent smell in one of the elevators. There was also no active ventilation in the room bathroom. However, the security guards and staff were very nice and helpful throughout our stay.
- Arthur (8/5): - Nice
- Dennis (6/5): - not to many taxis
- Manrico (8/5): - Free breakfast buffet
- Jesus (6/5): - Rooms don’t have headboard electric plugs
Bathroom shower is not working
- Joan (4/5): - I don’t like their wifi. Very poor! It’s not working at all
- Joan (8/5): - The place was nice. Very close to tourist destination. But the Wifi was very poor. I can’t even use to search. Cannot do anything without wifi.
- Maria Theresa (10/5): - Excellent hotel for elderly.
- Manuel (10/5): - Close to everything
- robervic (8/5): - Near Session road
- roberto (8/5): - Staff are great. Near session rd. Food is great. I recommend this hotel if you are visiting Baguio city.
- Ericson (10/5): - very accessible and clean. The breakfast Buffet is great!
- Thomas (6/5): - Low water pressure, buffet food not good (breakfast/dinner), only 1 elevator working most of the time, bed sheets look old and brownish, only 1 room card available per room.
- Lalane (4/5): - Elevator was working on and off. Difficult to find hotel at night due to missing signage.
- Alvin (6/5): - Water in shower with very low pressure and water will not get warm enough for a hot shower. We were in a room where you will hear a humming noise like someone is using a washing machine at 12:00am and this happens every day during our stay. We like the food served for breakfast at buffet.
- Simon (4/5): - I've stayed in hundreds of hotels worlwide. This hotel has the was the worst beds ever. It's like sleeping on a box spring; no mattress to speak of. Woke with terrible back ache. The ongoing building works outside were noisy all Saturday. No mention of this pre-booking. Location is good for walking around city, including Burnham Park and SM plus the Museum and night market. Parking there was fairly easy, which is something in a city with traffic chaos and limited parking availability. Staff in the coffee shop were fantastic. Staff at the front desk were polite. Rooms are spartan. Despite booking one room for three through Expedia I was still charged for a third bed. That's the Philippines though - a lot of nickel and dime charges, not to mention the routine checkout delay while they see if you've stolen anything. Food was typical 2/3 star Philiippino fare.
- Napoleon (6/5): - I was so discouraged with this place..the hot water is almost non existence, the toilet smells…
- IamWonderboi (2/5): Worst hotel i'd ever been in! Dont ever book here. Trust me.l! - It was the worst hotel I'd ever been in.
Never book a basement room. The place has a nasty odor.
The room bed is not very pleasant and very uncomfortable.
Is one pillow placed on each bed? This is serious! You have the impression that you are being held captive.
Service is too slow.
This place has terrible management.
- Robert (8/5): - close to the catheral, SM and market as well as the Burnham park.
- ARSENIO B (6/5): - Elevator unreliable, slow, out of 3 elevators only one is working at a time. Carpet on stairs need replacement. Breakfast is below average. Staff are friendly. Location is centrally located in the city, very convenient, close to everything.
- JESSICA (2/5): - Terrible Check in and check out, front desk bad in customer service. Noisy, no bidet, 1 elevator working.
Big room, good breakfast.
- Raquel (10/5): - I would definitely stay in this hotel again the next time I visit Baguio. The place was very clean. The staff were all courteous and very pleasant. The free breakfast buffet was very good. They have a good variety of food. We were there for 4 days for breakfast and we didn't get tired of eating there. The rooftop where they serve their meals was very cozy with fresh breeze. Just make sure to have a sweater on when you go up there because it's quite chilly in the morning but I loved it. Im talking about January weather. They have a very enjoyable freshly brewed coffee to kee you warm anyway. The only couple of things that I didn't like was the noise from the building construction next door which I know is just temporary until the building is finished and also it's just during the day not at night so that was not a big deal. The other thing was the sound proofing of the room was not that great. We could here the other guests when they're talking in the hallway. Also we had a loud group of people staying in the room next to us. It sounded like they're drinking and partying. When we called the front desk to complain about their noise, they right away notified that room and those people got quiet. Kudos to the front desk for their quick action. Luckily for us, that group was only there for one night. Overall it was a great stay!
- Krisha joy (8/5): Awesome - Great
- Romeo (8/5): - Can hear noises on the upper level and on going construction besides the building.
- Izza (6/5): - Thumbs up to the amazing security and valet staff assisting with car parking.
- Eloisa (10/5): - Near in the mall and center in the city is walkable.
- Brian (8/5): - Was very clean and had great staff
- Carolyn (8/5): - Convenience to places
- Claro (8/5): - Good food
- Carolyn (6/5): - Convenience to access for my personal needs
- Lotus (10/5): - Hi
- James (4/5): - shower's heater was not working, the other guests were very NOISY!!! elevator's button in the 3rd floor was not working and I had to walk on the stairwell, toilet was very difficult to flush and it has no bidet..i don't like the idea of being stamped on the wrist when I use the complementary breakfast as a way to identify that you have used it for the day. It was so hard to remove it afterwards!!!
- Joemar (10/5): - Bery clean and staff are courteous. Enjoyed the food.
- Luciano (8/5): - The staff immediately accused us of taking their face towel after we checked out and took the cost from our deposit. Then a few minutes latter they found it. Heck the!
- Maiel (8/5): Stay here for Session road - Busy hotel but check in was relatively timely.
Front desk personnel are helpful.
Breakfast is buffet of simple Filipino food.
Rooms are spacious.
Parking is available at the basement of the bldg.
Walkable to the Baguio cathedral, Session road and SM mall.
- Arvind (8/5): - Overall stay was good no hot water on the second night for the shower that’s all but very happy with the stay!
- Jenalyn (8/5): - The Hotel is ok the staff are friendly.
- george (8/5): - Nice hotel
- Araceli (8/5): - Clean room and great staff.
- Travelling_Trapeze (8/5): A Quick Trip to Baguio - My friends and I took time off from our busy schedule to unwind in Baguio and this hotel met our budget and specs. It's walking distance to session road, and the Baguio Cathedral. It's also accessible to public transportation and convenience store.
The hotel's lobby impressed me. It's spacious, clean and smells clean. It has a small cafe next to the entrance. Food there is priced reasonable enough although we did not try any, instead, had hot tea after our dinner from their buffet in their roof deck.
Our room was spacious which we were delighted to find out, and it had an aircon unit. We preferred an airconditioned room, because even if the weather in Baguio is cool, we still prefer more coldness. Haha!
The bathroom: well it has it's pros and cons. The pros: clean, spacious for 3 pax, shower with warm water, enough toiletries like dental, soap and bath gels. We were provided with abundant towels, which is great! The cons: water is not strong enough (maybe because we were at the 5th floor?), and it never gets hot. Lighting is poor. It could have been better if it was properly lit like that of their hallway lights. Tissue rolls could have been more since there were 3 of us in the room.
Beddings: bed is big enough for 2, blankets and duvet were provided, mattress feels good on our backs.
Food: our accommodations came with free breakfast for 3 persons. It was a typical breakfast, but we are not complaining.
Bonus: we would like to commend one of their staff in their cafe, for finding us a legit, trusted and good taxi driver to take us around the city. We found out he is a 'tour guide' as well. He took us to the places we had in our itinerary. Plus, he didn't rip us off with his price.
Over-all, we would definitely come back and book at this hotel.
- MERLY D (4/5): - I like the fact that it is centrally located and you can walk around.
What I didn't like: Hardly any hot water at any time of the day. Called to complain, someone came and been told that there is hot water. a very very slight warm is what he called "hot water". Toilet issue: You have to hold the Flush handle for a long period of time to flushed the toilet. at 1 point, We are not able to flush the toilet. no water coming. No housekeeping attended to our room to make beds on our second day. who wants to see a unmade/messy bed when you're tired at the end of your day?
- Ruel (10/5): - Property/ hotel os way situated at city center of Baguio. Just a 3mins walk to Baguio Cathedral and main road of Baguio-session road. Less than 10 mins. walk to SM Baguio city and 10-15mins walk to Victory bus station. The hotel is listed as 3 star hotel but it can be well deserved to be upgraded to 4 star hotel. The hotel is very well maintained, clean. My room is equipped with 40 inc. tv with Sky cable. Very reliable and speedy wi fi. Water bottle and coffee is standard, breakfast is great with a lot of choices and eat all you can. All staff are very helpful, courteous...
- Lyndal (6/5): - Hard beds, shower that leaked into the main room and key that didn’t work on one occasion. Also had to pay for extra blanket and extra face towel. Right near the cathedral so expect to be woken at 5.30am by the bells (if the roosters don’t wake you up first). Great breakfast and view from the 6th floor.
- Marilyn (6/5): - I stayed here for a month while buying a family vacation home. The hotel has an expansive lobby and quite lovely. I was on the 3rd floor and I must say the rooms are big; I particularly enjoyed the hardwood floors and the veranda with a view. However, the room had no fridge, no safe to put important belongings. Oftentimes, there was no hot water and had to call numerous times to ask for a fix. When taking a shower, it oftentimes overflowed and flooded the bathroom.
The staff however is the best. They were helpful, courteous and friendly. I must commend Michelle of the housekeeping staff for her friendship and candor.
- Robert (8/5): - The property is what I expected.
- CheSabCab (6/5): A Very Basic Stay - It was a pretty ordinary hotel stay that I didn't bother to take pictures, which I always do for my hotel reviews. The location is quite good if you have things to do within the city proper. I read a review praising the guard on duty, but perhaps it was not the same guard when we were there because he basically ignored us.
When we entered the parking area, he sort of just looked at us. We found a parking spot on our own.. brought out our luggage without any offer for assistance.. and managed to find the elevator by ourselves.
Room rate came with breakfast, but it wasn't really good.
We stayed here during the pandemic so the rates were still quite cheap. But I see now that it's more than P3,000 a night, which I don't think is worth it.
I MIGHT go back to stay here if I have no other choice.
- Ralph (8/5): - We enjoyed our stay very much. The one thing I didnt enjoy was the smell that was in our room. Seemed to be coming from the pipes but not sure.
- F7845KWchrisr (2/5): I try not to be negative, but please avoid. - I booked a 3 night stay with my Filipina partner and her adopted 7 year old daughter.
Check in at 3.30pm was abysmal, having waited in queue for over 10 minutes to give our details to the counter ladies about a prebooked and prepayed stay, and then told in an unfriendly manner to sit down and wait until they had sorted out their other customers first. I felt like a beggar looking for a bed in a homeless shelter, not a paying customer.
I did meet some staff who were lovely, but they were the exception. This hotel has little idea of customer service. The previous reviews about the problems with elevators are very true. They only have 2, and only one is for guests. However the service staff use the guest elevator, and you can then therefore wait for up to 10 minutes for an elevator. We ended up using the stairs, therefore this hotel is wholly unsuitable for people with disabilities.
The room itself was ok. It was very spacious and had good air conditioning. However the beds are, as other reviewers have described, rock hard. I found myself waking regularly through the night, having to adjust my position due to pain at pressure points. My partner also has a foam mattress in the Philippines' province and I do not have these problems. I am not a 'Princess and the pea', honestly.
However, of more concern, is the lack of cleaning of the property, especially the bathroom and public areas. They insist on a face mask at breakfast, but can not be bothered to clean human hair or food remnants. They are really quite hypocritical and disgusting. And to add, there is no ventilation, natural or fan, from the bathroom. And you can happily hear the quality of your neighbours bowel movements, their noise in the bedroom, the corridor, or anywhere else in this NOT sound insulated hotel.
Which takes me on to their breakfast, which I would happily throw in their face. It is only catered for Filipino tastes, and is substandard at that. But at least the coffee was ok. It does not cater for European or American preferences.
I have never written such a negative review before, but I feel I need to share this experience with other people. I ignored the bad reviews on trip advisor at my peril. I have paid only a little more in Bangkok, Thailand, and had a wonderful experience. I have paid far less in Chiang Mai, Thailand and been treated like a King. This hotel needs to shut down, it is very bad in many different ways.
Finally, I would like to say, we checked out (despite paying upfront) one night early, due to the awful experience. Check out was also bad, but what said a lot to me, was they never asked why we are wasting 3,200 php on an unused night, or if we are happy with our stay. I think they may be getting used to this and they are a failing hotel, who will take peoples' money until they eventually 'throw in the towel'.
BE WARNED!
- 730jarreda (6/5): Frill-free budget hotel - Not the best hotel I've ever stayed in, but certainly not the worst either. Service is good, but all of the rooms are VERY basic. No frills here, and the rooms we had were lacking in maintenance. The bed mattresses are also very hard, and are like sleeping on concrete slabs. You will also wait quite a while on the elevator. We opted for the stairs a few times during our stay.
The samgyupsal buffet upstairs is probably the star of the show in this building. The little bakery near the lobby is also great!
- NERIO (6/5): - IN RESTAURANT NO SAFETY NOTE ON THE DOOR GLASS ENTRANCE
- jmdy0104210 (2/5): Worst Accommodation - Worst service!
Poor facility, no wifi connection, smelly comfort room, inefficient staff, lacks parking space, check-in services is too long.
During check-in, queue is too long, customers are not even given proper courtesy and manager and front desks are unresponsive.
- josh65928 (6/5): Average budget hotel - Average budget hotel. The heater doesn't work sometimes. Internet is slow. Design of the room is a bit weird and inconvenient. Good side is there is a free breakfast buffet and the location is nice, walking distance to the good spots. The staff are nice.
- Mark Anthony (10/5): - Nice and convenient near shopping
- Michael (4/5): - The room was flooded from shower and had to request change of room. The room had an odor when checked in, and found out why when took shower and water everywhere
- ROSAL (10/5): - The location of this hotel was perfect. Highly recommended for all travel needs.
- Gualbert (10/5): - Great
- Greg (2/5): Horror room.... - Napaka pangit ng room.
Tabo pa ang ginagamit
At ang room nasan basement 3 wala kang makikita kundi tambak na basura.
- bxl0227 (2/5): Not recommended - Close to session road, Cathedral, SM, Burnham park. The beds are ok however pillows are not that comfy. Elevator don't work. CR is dirty, hot water is not working properly. Very poor wifi connection. Breakfast is nothing fancy. Poor sanitation and very poor customer service.
- jonalynl811 (4/5): Hotel - Disappointed, poor wifi connection, difficult to flash the comfort room.. elevator malfunction... Overall were not satisfied the accmmodation... I will not recommend this hotel. It feels uncoftable, the bed, lots of flaws
- Hazelyn (8/5): - Great
- Romulo (8/5): Over all a great stay! - It was a good stay overall but the shower can be improved a bit as water isn’t as warm as it should be. Bathrooms have no bidet. Elevator buttons need a bot of fixing too. Location is good. Hotel food is reasonably priced and service is great.
