• Cath (8/5): Older property but quaint atmosphere - It was quiet and the staff member was very pleasant. There was no place to eat and we had to drive 15 minutes to the nearest food outlet. The bathroom was a bit dated.

• Dotti (7/5): Out of the city - The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The towels were soft and fluffy. Despite being situated next to the main highway it was fairly quiet. I didn't like that I had to go to reception to ask for things that are usually in your room at other motels, ie: soap, crockery (including coffee cups), cutlery, iron, hairdryer, blanket and extra pillows. Having said that, I'm sure if you asked these things would be provided. The air-conditioning was preset and couldn't be adjusted - it wasn't cool enough for my partner. There are no fans. There are no soaps or other toiletries provided. The basin was outside of the bathroom.

Great to finally see someone have a large TV, instead of a computer size screen, large fridge quite comfortable stay. Very friendly reception on arrival. I would stay there again. Lack of some toiletries and some plates and cutlery, would have been nice.
• Reindert (9/5): Hidden gem - The room was spacious and comfortable. Although it's on the highway, it's set back far enough with lots of trees around to nearly mute the road noise. The best thing about it though was Leanne. She was so friendly and has frozen, home-made meals for the hungry traveller, just bring cash with you. I can recommend the chicken and roast vegies. Amazing service, I'll definitely be back. Parking was tight for my 14t truck but I now know what size truck I can get in there. haha There's no food close by but Leanne's frozen meals make up for it.

• Allison (3/5): Probably wouldn’t stay again - The host was lovely! There was no sink in the bathroom and no soap anywhere except for dishwashing liquid, you can’t wash your body with dishwashing liquid.
• Matty (9/5): Perfect for a quick overnight. - Easy check in, called the number on arrival and was sorted in a few minutes. Nice and simple perfect for a roadside hotel on a long journey.
• j0hnty47 (8/5): Quiet room just off highway with the added bonus of birdlife. - Comfortable bed and generous room with full sized refrigerator. Even thought the motel is on the Bruce Highway, it was quiet during the night with sound softened by trees on the property. Many birds attracted to the plants in the garden. There is a large retail complex with supermarkets and food outlets about 5-10 minutes drive towards Townsville.

• Stuart (10/5): A great place to stay for an overnight stop - Excellent position on the Bruce Highway. Didn't notice traffic noise as it is situated higher then the road. Great price too.

• John (2/5): Very poor - There is nothing to like. TV didn't work. No sink or taps in the bathroom. No housekeeping. Add was totally misleading. TV didn't work. To far out of town. At night coming back to the hotel there is absolutely no lights to show where to turn off the main highway in a 100kph zone making it dangerous to turn in. Absolutely no staff. Key was left in our room to check in. Nobody at reception to check out. Management at night drinking alcohol and having a party. In the 4 days and 3 nights there reception was never opened. Never seen any staff unless it was the manager drunk on late Saturday night early Sunday morning. Overall the worst place I have ever stayed and would not recommend to a camel. Totally misleading in the way they advertise the property. 20 acres of bushland my ass. Not happy at all. Would ask for a refund but manager was too hungover. Really poor property and really horrible experience overall.

• Ann (9/5): Superb - Very convenient for early 10 min drive to Magnetic Island ferry along Southern Port Road. Large mall 5 minutes away. Owner was the most generous and accommodating business owner we've ever had in a motel. Current motel manager was also helpful and kept the rooms immaculately clean. Nice bed linen and towels, well laundered. Older style motel, and very good value. Stayed a night each side of our island trip.

A 24 hour service station just town road sells food. Nothing really. Limited food utensils as there were only cups and spoon.

• David (9/5): Very enjoyable stay in a location that suited us very well. - Room was great - very roomy. Grounds were very restful with frequent birdlife, including Sunbirds in the morning. Staff very friendly and helpful. Plenty of room for parking. Very quiet, especially as it's beside the highway. Everything was great - perhaps the bed was only an 8/10 but still very comfy.
• Elena (9/5): Superb - The staff was very helpful and suggested a lot of things to do around the area. We even got a tip about how to reach the city while avoiding traffic! The motel's location is not ideal, but it's not too hard to reach the city if you're okay with driving.

• David (10/5): Clean, well-maintained room, and a fair price. - The property was on the highway but still only a short distance from the city. Leaving for home was easier. The Manager was extremely friendly and allowed me to check in 3 hours early as one room was ready. The free wi-fi worked perfectly. I have stayed in dozens of motels and Sunbird provided everything I expected based on the price and location. Small, family run business.

I in fact had not canceled and they had over booked… not very nice. problem was sorted but still not a nice thing to do to someone
