W2720SCdianai (2/5): Disappointing! - Our stay in Il Borro was an absolute disappointment - we hoped for a relaxing couple of days but ended at a noisy place with no privacy at all. The biggest part of the property is situated in a so called medieval village which has an interesting concept before you realise that your room is in the middle of a touristic attraction and a place for people from the villages nearby to come for a walk. That means it is noisy all day long and you just wonder how you ended up there. That was not mentioned during our booking and I can hardly imagine we were the first to experience that bizarre situation. That was not at all a 5 star accommodation. The staff are not engaged and many of them hardly spoke English. Absolute lack of organisation and no feeling of being at a secure place. The location is also remote at the very eastern part of Tuscany, the inly place which is less than an hour drive is Arezzo. It was a very disappointing experience for us and could not at all recommend the place.

hsmith2026 (10/5): Unlike Any Other Property - My family and I just returned from a magical stay at Il Borro, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. The property itself was spectacular, and our time in the medieval village was unlike any experience I've had. The culinary program was astonishing, the wine tour was among the most unique I've ever seen, the service was outstanding, the grounds were superior to any I've seen (even in very early Spring), and the commitment to sustainability is wholly impressive. The views, people, and special place that make up Il Borro are incredible. We cannot wait to come back.

Tutti gentilissimi e veloci, il borgo offre anche passeggiate a cavallo che si presumono spettacolari considerato il paesaggio. Peccato non aver pensato ad un set di stivali (economici) per gli ospiti che non ne hanno, come accade in molte altre strutture. La differenza per un soggiorno da sogno è sempre nei dettagli.

9gabys (6/5): Shame - Beautiful property a lot to improve - We stayed at Il Borro in October and had three rooms in the Medieval Village. While two of the rooms were spacious and lovely, one was unfortunately quite disappointing. From the moment we arrived, the service set the tone. The receptionist was cold and unfriendly, which surprised us at this level of hotel. When we asked about dinner, we immediately discovered that all the restaurants were either fully booked or only had very late seating available. For our entire stay, the only place we could dine was the pizzeria. The pizza itself was good, but the other dishes were disappointing and felt low-quality for such a renowned property. The spa was another letdown. For a hotel of this category, we expected a serene and luxurious environment, but it fell short. There wasn’t even a comfortable area to simply relax and unwind. On our first morning, two workers were loudly talking and fixing something right outside our room at 7:00 AM. The walls are thin and the soundproofing is very weak, so it was impossible to sleep through the noise. It’s truly unfortunate that such a stunning place suffers from inconsistent service and quality. At this point, I’m not sure I would return or recommend Il Borro, despite its beautiful setting.

LuxuryGlobal (10/5): Enchanting Stay in Tuscany in Ferragamo Family Property - We stayed at this hotel for a weeklong family trip and booked four suite rooms. The property itself is absolutely beautiful—elegant but still warm and inviting. The staff and service easily rival some of the finest hotels in the world… probably because this actually is one of them. Everything about our stay felt special. A big thanks to Concierge Jean Paul, who somehow managed to handle all our complicated travel plans with zero issues. It really was a magical experience. The food throughout the property is also great and so were the morning walks by the horse stables !

Luckily we had a car so we were gone the entire time. - the idea of the place is great. a village converted to a boutique hotel. and going up and down to the old village. the estate and entire premises is incredibly gorgeous. and the views are stunning. The overall management of this beautiful place is horrid. The staff were super unfriendly and obnoxious. The room service weren't clean nor thorough. The breakfast is god awful. Almost inedible. I've seen better breakfasts at a roadside B&B, let alone a Relais et Chateaux hotel in Tuscany!

So when you arrive they send you to the pizza cafe at 9.15pm so you miss out on the restaurant. Service at pool areas does not happen if you are 2 men , all other couples were provide service !! Pool temperate is stupid all guest we talked to even staff say it’s dumb ! 30d day and pool is 18d Booked a wine tasting and received a 45 min talk , we did not ask for the tour we requested just the tasting a waste of time Loud music at 130am 2am and 3 am played in our room , there blue tooth system from somewhere else we think they have no idea We did provide feedback on the first day but yep you guessed it, no response we rang the reception. The horse riding was good it saved to whole experience from a total flop. For the price and what they deliver it a big fail ( oh and yes breakfast you need to wait for a table 10/15 mins ) to many people We did share this with them but did not get a good response (they did remove the cost of the horse riding but that was not our point ) Make you own decisions about staying here

Voyager212 (6/5): Has good bits, but some issues - We found their website uninformative, and difficult to find out exactly what the concept is, and what / where the various room categories are. After a lot of reading between the lines, and having found the “resort” map we managed to choose rooms in the Borgo village, which we thought would meet our needs. The hotel is very stretched out over several areas, and particularly in the heat of June- August you will need to use the hotel golf buggies/ Fiat Pandas to ferry you around. These usually arrived promptly but there were a few long waits, particularly in the evening. The rooms were impressive - Junior Suites were a very good size. Good beds, bathrooms etc, beautifully decorated and finished to a high standard, in the old houses in the village. Main problem was the air conditioning which was under-powered for the room size and summer weather - and from talking to other guests this seems to be quite a widespread issue. There are 3 pools: small one by the, Borgo, quite a hike down very steep stairs and only a few sunbeds. There is a poorly laid out infinity pool near the bistro restaurant with sunbeds on a grass terrace below. The nicest pool is at Pomario and has 20 sun beds, and a pretty restaurant for poolside lunch or pizza in the evening. Other restaurants are a fine dining Osteria which we didn’t try, and the Tuscan Bistro - which does not live up to its name as the menu was over-engineered, and was very different to the sister restaurant in Florence. Breakfast for Borgo guests was in the Osteria restaurant and was a good buffet, with some a la carte add-ons for a fee. Concierge team weren’t able to answer some reasonably basic questions about the local area (eg what markets there are in Arezzo) and they ended up Googling the answers (which we had already done but wanted some local insight). Might return in lower season but not rushing back.

Can Leon (7/5): beautiful location but not worth it's money at all - Beautiful estate with nice rooms yet noisy. The food is not up to scratch. Service is very unattentive. No service at all at the pool? Not acceptable at such a price. Breakfast has barely any options and when booking a suite, I find it highly inappropriate to charge 12-20€ for egg dishes, especially when the boiled eggs at the buffet were stone cold! Extras in general at the hotel were EXTORTIONATE!!!

The team was extremely charming, all very polite, attentive, and helpful, assisting in organizing all our activities with great care. The experiences we had — from the Truffle Hunting, Farm Tour to the hot air balloon ride, the leather and the silver workshops, and the estate’s wine pairings — were all special, with impeccable quality in the services, meals, and hospitality. I also highlight the beauty and tranquility of the place, which provide a true breath of well-being.

879tonym879 (10/5): Relaxing Luxury Stay in Tuscany - The location of this resort about 70 kms from Florence in the beautiful Tuscan countryside is truly amazing. My wife and I stayed in a Classic room within the old medieval village in a bed that was very comfortable in a well fitted out room. The breakfasts were delicious and staff very helpful. There were some amazing walks to be had on the property along with a choice of swimming pools. The restaurants and bars had a great selection of food and wine. Our stay was a truly 5 star experience. Our grandkids also enjoyed their experience at horseriding.
Lily (7/5): Lovely property with need for some improvements in service/small touches - Beautiful location and everywhere you look the property is so beautiful. We stayed in the country side area and our suite was lovely and so spacious. I think for the price it is lacking a few things making it a very overpriced stay. For a stay of this price I would expect everything to be perfect and it really wasn’t. I found the staff at some of the restaurants were a little slow sometimes and the service wasn’t what I’d expect for a 5 star expensive hotel. I’m not saying the service was really bad it just wasn’t as good as I’d expect. Sometimes they would forget to bring you olive oil and bread (the bread was clearly left over from breakfast and was so dry and horrible) at breakfast it could take 20 minutes before someone took your drink order. The food in the countryside area wasn’t the best either and very overpriced and fairly basic. The cleaning of the rooms and turndown service really was the bare minimum. Overall I just think they need to make some small changes to make the experience one worth the money.

Rvasa (10/5): A Place Like No Other - Il Borro was the food my hungry soul needed for the longest time!! My family of three checked into Il Borro from June 28-July 2nd. The minute I walked onto the magnificent estate of Il Borro I knew I was connected to the history of the place. Walking past the reception into the main property area instantly created a spiritual connection for me. I felt like I was walking into something very familiar. The medieval village where our family was staying was spectacular. It was filled with artisans of all kinds (jewelry maker, shoemaker, painter) and had a church from the 13th century that added to the serenity of the place. Our two bedroom suite was warm and cozy filled with accents that resembled the Tuscan living of the past. Starting from meeting Francesco and Carla at the reception to the day we checked out everyone on the team was extremely professional. I want to thank all of the staff...Juan Carlos, Ricardo, Tomas, Paula, Latiszia, Sommelier Sofia, Equestrian Elena, Chef Simona, and the staff at Tuscan Bistro, Osteria and Pomario. Our family was made to feel at home and we felt like we were royalty on the Il Borro estate. Our favourite activity was the Cooking Class with Chef Simona. She was so passionate about cooking and teaching us how to make pici, aubergine parmigiana, and cantucci. It was a therapeutic experience and one I am carrying back to Toronto with me♥️. I want to thank the Ferragamo family for creating a magical space and opening their family property to the world...the tag line 'A Place Like No Other' is truly apt. Il Borro has captured a big part of my heart and soul. I hope my destiny brings me back one day!! Lastly I want to thank the assistant manager Luisa Amegli. Thank you for your beautiful note and the bag of goodies that you gifted us. I am hoping to make the Il Borro pasta very soon in Toronto for my son Aryan who sadly wasn't on the trip. My older son Rohaan who was on the trip with us thoroughly enjoyed his time golfing and spending time in nature....the disconnection from the daily grind is the true beauty of Il Borro. Thank You for making our 21st Anniversary celebrations extra special. We will forever remember this magical, spiritual, and therapeutic experience♥️.
Michael (10/5): - BEAUTIFUL complete resort…what you imagine when visiting Tuscany for an ultra high end experience. Everything was fantastic including the dining in all 3 restaurants…I highly recommend experiencing all 3 restaurants and at least 2x each (Osteria Del Borro should be Michelin rated with 2-stars, it’s heaven…I recommend their tasting menu that’s full of surprise extras, like 6 extra tastings). Best included breakfast ever in a beautiful setting with super large wine cellar. All 3 infinity pools are luxurious, provide full conveniences such as wait, bar, food, and towel services. The staff is awesome, so kind, courteous and identify guests are there for a high end experience. Take the wine & cheese tour it’s not only charming and interesting, but you’ll likely meet good folks/other guests. Our villa was absolutely magnificent and included a large steam shower, backyard perfect for wine tasting, complimentary bottle of IL Borro wine and unlimited drinks replaced 2x daily. IL Borro also celebrates the Ferragamo family (who we saw on property) and brand with select Ferragamo items for purchase, we indulged. Plan to send a case or 2 of wine home, their shipping to the States is completely reasonable and their IL Borro 2020 Tuscana (red - drinks like a Cabernet Sauvignon) is full bodied, well balanced, great flavors…we loved it, and is priced well. We cracked many of their whites and rose’s, both great, as we visited in June/summer. Needless to say, we will be back!!
