Saundra (8/5): - Serenity Bay is a nice place to stay. It is right on the water with a nice dock and there are kayaks and a fishing pole. There is a fire pit (bring your own wood). The place is a nice size and has everything you need while you're there, besides food and toiletries. Restaurants and shops are walkable. It is really quiet and laid back here and this is a good place to hang while you're here.

Amy (8/5): Comfortable and fun stay - Very nice place to stay to explore the Matlacha and Pine Islands. Kayaking and sunsets are beautiful. Expect some road noise even in the back units.
Kelly (10/5): - It happened to be a quiet weekend and we enjoyed it by ourselves and loved it! We've stayed at a few places in Matlacha but we were most pleased with Serenity. The view and fishing were great! The room was clean, comfortable and what you expect in Matlacha as far as wall a/c and just being older but its good - it is a cottage on the water for a good price and a low key staycation. We will definitely return!

Steve Shearsby (6/5): OK for the non-persnickety. - Unfussy, basic accommodation, moderately well equipeped, easy check in, a bit too much exposed spaghetti type wiring for my taste. Worst thing is that the front rooms are directly on that main road which starts to get busy and loud abot 5.30 am. Didn't see inside but the rear room looked a lot more enticing (and quieter) with outdoor decks and beautiful views across the bay.

You can hear some road noise from the bedrooms on the near side of the property but it quiets down by bedtime and didn’t cause us to lose any sleep. We were very comfortable and enjoyed exploring Matlacha and the surrounding areas.

Verified traveler (6/5): Get what you pay for - This is an example of “you get what you pay for.” I paid a very reasonable price so my expectations matched what we got. This was a very old property that has deteriorated. Although it was relatively clean it was still not very comfortable. The room looked over the street and was very loud and very dark with little lighting. If you just need a place to camp out for a night it was fine.

Nathan (8/5): - The location is fantastic. It is a very cute cottage right on the water. They have kayaks, fire pit and a little area to sit and look out at the water in the back. You are walking distance to a couple restaurants and local stores. It was pretty rustic but it was a cottage not a hotel room.

PAMELITA (6/5): - The price cant be beat for this place. It is advertised as a cottage afterall and basically thats what it is. Nothing fancy. Very outdated yet everything you need except a stove. What the inside lacks, the backyard makes up for tenfold! The yard is sharedby other renters but backs right up to Serenity Bay. The view is amazing! Islands of mangrove trees in the bay as far as you can see. Even saw a dolphin a couple of times!They have kayaks to use whenever you want, a firepit and wood to burn, lawn chairs, fishing poles, laundry facilities, they have it all! On the downside, we found the bed and pillows uncomfortable and our air conditioner seemed to have trouble keeping up. The furnishings were mixmatched and in average shape. It is also VERY close to the road so if you get a unit in the front, the traffic may bother some. If your looking for a 4 star hotel keep looking but if your looking for an inexpensive place to crash with an exceptional view close to shops and restaurants, if you love to kayak or fish , look no further! The owners are very pleasant as well. A word of warning...the noseeums are brutal in the yard after dusk so bring repellent!

marybeth (10/5): Great place and a town that welcomes you. - Serenity Bay was fantastic! Wake up in the morning and grab a cup of coffee and sit outback on the dock and watch the dolphins play or sit and watch the Ospreys looking for breakfast. No matter what you do it's relaxing and if you feel like a little fun take the kayaks out for a spin.

Mary & Jim (8/5): Waterfront with dolphins & sunsets - What a view! Right on the water and a couple dolphins are regular visitors. Homey & cozy rooms, very clean. Manager Mike makes sure you have everything you need. He even brought me some honey for tea for my cold. He recommended the nearby restaurant Blue Dog and suggested we try the "Grouper Matlacha", which we did. One of the best meals in my entire life. Matlacha (pronounced mat-la-SHAY) is a funky little village on the water with lots of brightly colored buildings. It's convenient to Ft. Myers, without all the stress of staying in the city. Very laid back. Beware of no-see-ums. It makes sitting outside impossible unless you have repellent.
