Gwen (10/5): A wonderful stay - Everything. It was a fabulous place to stay away from the city but close to facilities. Comfortable beds, good shower, and guest kitchen were greatly appreciated, as was the heated towel rack. John looked after us very well. There was a slightly wobbly chair in the guest kitchen, but that was not a big issue.

Linda (10/5): Very comfortable stay, great location - Great location in a quiet area with beautiful views. Our room had everything needed for a comfortable stay and we had a good breakfast in the morning. Feeding Thomas and Donald the alpacas and the sheep before we left was a lovely bonus. Only around ten minutes drive into the town to see the lovely old buildings of Dunedin and a further few minutes to the beautiful Otago peninsula. All good!
Dale (9/5): This was a very welcome destination, not far from Mosgiel and within reach of Dunedin. - The location was quiet and restful and well signposted. Lots of info made available and easy self checkin. Other guests shared the common lounge and kitchen, and were easy to get along with. The accommodation had a wonderful kitchen, with all breakfast makings so you could start your day well. Host John was polite and friendly. Slept well in comfortable bed. Signage for the accommodation was great but would have liked some signage along Gladstone Road North to confirm location.

Mark (10/5): Great place to stay when visiting Dunedin - Lovely accommodation in the hills outside Dunedin (a short 10-15min drive gets you into the center of town). The host is very welcoming and provides a fantastic breakfast in a large dining room overlooking the gardens and farm animals (sheep and alpacas). The room was very quiet and pleasant with comfortable beds and a great bathroom.

Marcel (8/5): Rustig gelegen farmhouse met mooi uitzicht - Ligging midden in de natuur was mooi en erg rustig. Het was leuk dat we de alpaca’s en schapen die bij het farmhouse stonden mochten voeren. Wij hadden kamer 3, die het dichtst bij de eetzaal lag en daardoor wat gehoriger was. Het ontbijt is sober, maar voldoende (voor Nieuw-Zeelandse begrippen).
Carol (10/5): Outstanding farm home stay! - Loved everything! Immaculately clean. The sofas in the lounge were exceptionally clean too, as were carpets, bedding etc. We were upgraded (room 4) and included a very large lounge area, with TV, Netflix etc. We chose the complimentary continental breakfast but you could have bacon/eggs etc for a very little extra charge. There was a ‘guest’ kitchen for us to help ourselves to beer, soft drinks etc for such a low cost (beer NZ$5, soft drinks NZ$3). There may have been other drinks but didn’t ask. The view was outstanding too. We were able to feed the alpaca and sheep at 9 am which was amazing to do. We had such an amazing stay. What a find! You could also sit outside your room which was a sun trap in the early evening. Nothing! A little out of town but you are not going to find a farm stay in a town centre! It was our best hotel experience of our 3 week trip.

Mark (5/5): - The location was great,on a farm. Continental breakfast was included in price if you wanted eggs. It was extra cost. We had room no 2, which I think it is way too small. There were two cupboards in the room, but one was locked, and the other had a shelf at the top and had the small fridge tucked in the corner of the cupboard which means if you staying their a few days you have nowhere to put your suit cases. The bathroom was outside the room. It was a private one, but you do have to walk into the hall way to get to which you do have to be clothed to get to it as there is room next door to you that use the hallway to go through the kitchen or exit the building. We spoke to one of the owners, and he clarified the wording between an ensuite and a private bathroom. The private is only yours, but outside the room where the ensuite is in the room with you. As we were from Australia, we were not aware of this. An ensuite or private bathroom means it in your room.

Lori (8/5): Lovely setting, friendly staff, modern and clean. - Loved the farm feel, nice breakfast, welcoming host, clean and modern facilities. VERY honest host…we accidentally left some valuables in the room after we checked out and he informed us immediately and we were able to make arrangements to retrieve the item. A little noisy in the morning with other guests having breakfast and chatting with host, but this would vary in room location.

John, the owner, is incredibly friendly and accommodating—he even allowed me extra time to finish work without any additional cost. The breakfast was delightful, the room spacious, and the views were simply amazing. Service was exceptional from start to finish. My mother and I thoroughly enjoyed our two nights here during our trip to New Zealand. Highly recommended to anyone visiting Dunedin! Thank you, John, for making our stay memorable!

Russell (10/5): Fantastic Family Owned Operation - Stayed one night and had a great experience! Due to delays in our travel schedule we had to check-in late and were unable to contact the property regarding this. We arrived with an envelope addressed to myself with all the information needed! The room was large, very clean and the hospitality was amazing! The next morning we had the opportunity to speak with the owner and help feed their sheep and alpacas! I would strongly recommend staying at Hunters Moon and if I ever return I will stay here again

The alpacas are fun to be around just to watch. breakfast hours were a bit limited if you needed to get out before 0730 bathroom outside of our room. Located out of Dunedin in Mosgiel. the road to the site was under repair but accessible - just a bit confusing around the signage.

Mark (10/5): Excellent base for Dunedin and Otago - We had a really lovely stay over 4 nights. John made us feel as if we were at home and with a friend. Although the room we had was not one of the ensuite rooms, we had a dedicated bathroom to ourselves, and we knew it would be like that when we chose the room and the rate. There was also a guest kitchen which was well equipped.

Although walking through main kitchen and office felt a little awkward to us when coming in after midnight, all was good. Parking can get crowded when in late with a bigger vehicle. Shower bracket was broken so had to hold the shower head while washing. Told staff that morning and they were going to fix it.

Nigel (10/5): Comfortable stay - Located only 20-30 minutes drive from Dundedin city centre, but in countryside setting, tucked out of the way. Quiet. Clean and comfortable room with a modern clean en suite shower room. Very comfortable bed. Small fridge with freezer compartment and a microwave, in a cupboard.Kettle. Access to a guest kitchen - but we took up the continental breakfast option (cereal, juices, toast, butter, etc). Small table and a couple of chairs outside - we used one to supplement the chair in the room when it rained. Very nice host - who was available during the breakfast service and for the daily feeding of the alpacas, sheep and chicken. Good WiFi. We enjoyed a very comfortable stay and it made a good base to explore the Dunedin area.

Kirsten (7/5): Good - Comfortable bed, beautifully clean, lovely location with rural views. Easy self check in. It was very, very warm in the room and the portable air conditioner made little difference, and was very noisy - so had to be turned off for sleep. A small quiet fan would actually have been more effective.
Erin (9/5): Superb - We loved the view from the 2nd floor and of course, the animals - sheep, ducks, and alpacas - all regularly present and fun to watch. It was very peaceful, comfortable and clean. Easy check-in after hours and John was very welcoming. The breakfast was limited to some yogurt with fruit or a selection of cereals + toast. It would have been nice to have some eggs or other protein included (we prepaid for breakfast with our booking not understanding what was offered).

Richard (9/5): A lovely stay in the countryside at Mosgiel - It is an interesting property. On a small holding in the countryside. The rooms are good and fully equipped and serviced. The continental breakfast was very basic. It could have been improved very easily by adding a fresh fruit salad and the odd croissant or Danish pastry.
