Guest Reviews
- chris (10/5): Brief encounter with paradise - Real hidden gem, beautiful gardens and cabins, location for us was perfect, staff are very polite and helpful nothing is to much trouble. Nothing
- Johannes (9/5): Gemütliche ruhige Bungalows in grüner Umgebung.
- Sou Lee (10/5): -
- Guillaume63 (10/5): A hidden gem - Everything is perfect at Monoceros.
The owners, their staff, the hotel.
It is very relaxing. The garden is beautiful and luxurious. The pool area is an invitation to chill.
The bungallows are comfortable well furnished and welcoming. You feel good the moment you pass the door. The bed in room 5 was super comfortable. You will get good Thai food at the restaurant. Price is very reasonable for a hotel restaurant. The breakfast is top!
It’s rare to put a 10 but this place deserve it! Nothing really..
- Emily (10/5): Amazing stay - Gorgeous place with little chalets and amazing grounds. Breakfast was lovely. My boys loved playing with the board games provided and playing in the hammocks. On New Years Eve staff gave us lanterns to set off into the sky which was a really lovely touch. Nice base for exploring local area and not far from Chaing Mai. The owners were so helpful organising a car and massages for us on site. The pool was freezing, but I guess it was winter!

- Robert James (9/5): -
- Robert (10/5): Great experience and will be bcak - The variety of botanical plants was amazing and made the experience very special Well they have beautifully created a tropical Rain Forest which is heaven for Mosquitoes too as one should expect. Bring lots of repellent as the excellent restaurant is al fresco
- Petcharawan (10/5): -
Gutes Restaurant.
- Sam (9/5): Amazing property, credit to the owners for what they have built. A must stay if you are in the Chiang Mai area. - Amazing location, clean and friendly staff. Would recommend and I would stay again 100%. Not an awful lot to do in the area which we knew anyway but perfect for a night or two if you want somewhere peaceful and different to the norm in Thailand. Queen SiriKit Botanical Gardens is around a 15/20 min drive and a MUST VISIT, it is amazing. We liked everything.
- Bing (10/5): -
- Barrie (10/5): -
- Patricia (9/5): - Hele mooie plek, fijne huisjes, lieve medewerkers, lekker eten.
Niets
- Robert Andrew and Sherry Ann (8/5): We had a great stay in a perfect location and I would highly recommend the restaurant as well located on the property - Location was perfect to visit all the attractions around Due to the fact that it was winter, it was very damp and had a hard time getting things dry. As an example, the sheets and towels always felt damp.
- Siemin (9/5): -
- Barrie (10/5): -
- Simon (10/5): - Amazing place. Easy to walk to some of the attractions. The owner is very polite and accommodating. It's a jungle haven.
- Rick (9/5): - Mooie huisjes in een prachtige tuin. Groot zwembad.
- Caitlin Bennett (9/5): - Beautiful setting, wonderfully attentive and helpful staff, cosy and comfortable rooms, serene pool. We love how it feels the moment you step into Monoceros - tranquil, jungle magic. Thank you.
- Marieke (10/5): - Super fijn verblijf gehad! Aanrader!!
- Cher (10/5): Exceptional - Clean and beautiful rooms and facilty.
- Cher (10/5): Exceptional - The entire resort facility was beautiful.
- Andrew (9/5): Great place to stay with great food 😋 - Great bungalows, fantastic and great value food. Being semi rural, you do get mosquitos and expect to get bitten.
- Eric (9/5): Very peaceful and nice. A little piece of heaven. - Small and cute bungalows
- Flynn (9/5): Superb -
- Hartland (9/5): Perfect and Peaceful - Thank you so much Paul and Arm for a perfect and peaceful stay.
The resort is beautiful, food exceptional and the staff super friendly.
Paul and Arm were lovely hosts helping with everything from restaurant recommendations to rentals, sites and cultural information.
The room and facilities were all incredible.
Thanks again. Hopefully see you on our next trip to Chiang Mai ❤️
- Laura (5/5): Getting away from it all - Try quiet, out of the way accommodation. Very few sunbeds, not within walking distance of any bars or restaurants.
Cottages were clean and comfortable, food was good.
- Boosaba (10/5): LOVE IT! - Paul and his partner were super nice. The photos of the property do not do justice. The place is a lot nicer and very serene -- perhaps a video of the property would better relate the feel of the place than still shots pictures. My friends and I will definitely stay at Monoceros Resort again. We booked 4 rooms but due to a change in our schedule, the place was booked so we could only secure 3 rooms instead of 4. Wish they have more units available. Oh well, the resort was very accommodating and we enjoyed our stay very much.
- Gurtler (10/5): Fabulous - Stunning beautiful grounds with lush vegetation and orchids growing everywhere with cosy little private chalets set apart from each other so no noisy neighbours, well equipped, comfortable and quiet and a beautiful pool, excellent food (best hang ley I've had since I've been in the north) and a great breakfast!
- Robert (10/5): - Stunning environment, peaceful and quiet. Best staff I’ve ever encountered
- J (10/5): LOVE IT❣️ Online pictures don’t justify the property. It’s WAYYYY BETTER in person. - Friendliness & politeness of the people, the foods, the serene atmosphere — felt more relaxed than I anticipated. The rooms & hot water shower was super nice after the lukewarm water temp we had from Doi Mae Salong & Doi Chang in Chiang Rai. Mosquitos. Lol.
- Antony (10/5): Peacful and tranquil haven - Spacious individual tastefully designed chalets with lots of natural light and a porch / veranda to relax. Chalets spaced out with natural forest screening from neighbouring chalets to add to the good distance between. Beautiful gardens with shade and tropical forest epiphytes and orchids. Nice size swimming pool for when temps allow. Great hosts, Paul & Arm, fantastic staff and great food. Nothing, it was fantastic.
- Susan (10/5): We loved the resort. Everything was green and so well kept. - All the food was very good. There are so many options available on the menu. Mattress could be a little better.
- Michael (8/5): - I've be coming here for years. It's simple, green, and welcoming. I try to come here every year.
- Diana (10/5): An oasis near Chiang Mai - This is our go-to place to relax and work. The grounds are so beautifully taken care of, and the staff are lovely. A bonus is the amazing food!
- Peggy (10/5): Perfect ! Thank you. - A hidden gem ! Stunning location . The bungalows were so pretty and equipped with everything we needed. The feeling was calm and tranquil. The perfect spot to relax and unwind and explore the north.
Definitely hire a car or bike (the hotel can do this) to get around. You then have easy access to a number of wonderful attractions .
We loved the food which was amazing value for money . Paul was so helpful and welcoming and the rest of the staff were delightful. We will definitely be back and would thoroughly recommend. Loved it all!
- Julie (8/5): Very good - Beautiful lush gardens. So peaceful and able to listen to the birds in the trees. Very helpful managers and staff. It was colder at night than I had expected and it would have been nice to have a heater in the room in January
- Corinne (10/5): Monceros resort - The ambience and layout is amazing very nice decor. The staff and owners were lovely and the restaurant served delicous inexpensive food.Big extremely clean swimming pool. The owners can organise massages day trips etc.All the rooms have tv with netflix etc. Unfortunately the weather was unseasonably cold whilst we were there especially in the evening as the cottages are set out in such a way that they dont get any sunlight which keeps them cool in the summer.
Would highly recommend a stay there for a few days fantastic value for money ! Nothing was all great
- Asseilioni (10/5): Exceptional - Very relaxing environment.
Nice swimming pool, great green scenery, helpful staff, great value for money.
Very recommended as there are many activities around.
Its about 35 min from the changmai city so if you have a car or a scooter you are more than fine. Nothing but I would recommend to heat the pool a bit.
- Shirley (8/5): Christmas Stay - We checked in on Christmas evening and had a cozy Christmas dinner in the resort. Nice ambiance with nature surroundings.
- Andrew (10/5): Wonderful relaxing retreat - A beautifully setup resort. Peaceful relaxing and welcoming. Restaurant good food and variety. Thankyou Paul and Aom for a great stay.
- Yong (10/5): - Wonderful stay. Very quiet and clean. Super helpful and friendly staff. Will definitely come back!
- Rafael Fernando (10/5): - Stayed here for a month, its a beautiful property surrounded by tall trees on some very well kept grounds. The Cabins are in excellent, modern condtion and everything works. The owners are very gracious and welcoming.
- Kat (9/5): Very nice resort, very pleasant owners. Situated in a beautiful park with very nice pool. Recommend - Locatio is quiet, peaceful, pleasant but still feasible to get to Chiang Mai.
- CHI FAI (10/5): -
- Sarina (8/5): Relaxed, enjoyable and comfortable accommodation. - The property is in a quiet location with a jungle vibe. Facilities are clean and pleasant. Swimming pool if you want that. It offered what we wanted a comfortable retreat to sleep and a great base from which to explore. We had a very loud Gecko that sounded like it was in the room with us, but more of a natural irritant than dislike.
- Elizabeth (10/5): Exceptional - The pool and gardens and the lovely staff Nothing
- margaret (10/5): - This is a unique corner of heaven. Constructed thoughtfully with an eye to detail. Private Lanna style bungalows with green screens for privacy. Paul and his staff are on top of my every need! Great place to play and recharge. The area has wonderful places to visit within a short drive.
- Michael (10/5): - This is my go to place for being creative. It's simple and wonderful. Paradise on earth.
- Alison (10/5): A little slice of heave - Monoceros is a beautiful hotel set in the countryside to the north west of Chiang Mai. The gardens are relaxing and very well tended. The food was some of the best we had in northern Thailand. The room itself was spotless and cleaned regularly, a basket of fruit was provided as a welcome gift. The hotel arranged scooters for us to tour the surrounding countryside. The staff are fabulous and very friendly. The only point worth mentioning and to be aware of is that the beds are extremely firm
- Ellen (10/5): Wonderful stay! - What a fantastic stay! The owners are friendly and extremely helpful -- they even had their handyman help fix my suitcase wheel. And they set a comfortable, congenial tone that spreads to all guests. The food is excellent, and they accommodated my seafood allergy - making Thai food without fish and oyster sauce. The cabins are calm and breezy, making for a very relaxing atmosphere. I can't say enough good - would definitely stay again, and recommend to even the most picky traveler.
- Christopher (9/5): Superb - Excellent everything.
- Lord (9/5): Excellent Location - A wonderful peaceful location. The accommodation was excellent, clean and comfortable.
Nice selection of Thai and other cuisines in the restaurant.
- Andrew (9/5): Great for a quiet holiday -
- Michelle (9/5): Superb - Charming resort set in a lush, green environment. Friendly staff and absolutely spotless. Will definitely be back.
- Ruth (10/5): Very romantic place - Hope for the owner, that there will again be as many tourists as before Covid. He is a very nice guy with a beautiful big garden, lovely swimming pool and nice cottages!
Food was exceptional at his restaurant!
- Gail (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gillian (9/5): Loved it. Highly recommended - Breakfast was good. Location was great. General set up - the little cottages and the pool in the middle all set in lush gardens was lovely. A separate sheet to the doona would have been great as it was too hot with the doona and too cold with nothing - we didn't want the aircon on all night
- Louise (8/5): Beautiful location for exploring that area of Thailand - It was relaxing and quiet, friendly staff and lovely food
Stunning area to go exploring
Restaurant prices were reasonable The location definitely requires you to have your own transportation as it’s quite remote for amenities , if you’re after some where to sit in the sun and relax this isn’t the place for you, due to all the beautiful nature. There is No English speaking tv so be warned to bring entertainment for yourself
- Rose (10/5): Perfect small resort in an orchid garden - A rare small resort with beautifully designed ‘cottages’ in the most exquisite orchid garden. This is a very relaxed place. It has a good restaurant, is run by a delightful small group who care for it passionately, and is perfectly situated for a touring this lovely hilly area of the Chiang Mai region. The pool is large and salt water, set among the trees. It is a real retreat living up to every expectation.
- Abbey (9/5): Superb -
- Lynne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (9/5): Superb - Very peaceful location, great food in the restaurant, and super helpful staff
- Sou (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peter (8/5): Very pleasant - - Beautiful garden environment
- Cleanliness
- on-site restaurant with attentive service - steps to rooms need to be made non-slip
- No red wine, although offered on the menu, available in restaurant
- Basvb1 (9/5): Amazing villa’s in peaceful garden - Ten new, spacious and clean villa’s in a beautiful and peaceful tropical garden. Large clean pool. Amazing restaurant with lots of choice. The staf is very friendly and the owners helpful in orginizing trips and rentals.
In the direct surrounding you find many attractions and beautiful nature. We even did a bike trip they provided for free.
- Lakkana (10/5): Great and valued to stay - Very nice staff good service lots of mosquitoes outdoor area cause a lot of plants and trees
- Kyla (10/5): - This place is so so so lovely. I like that it is outside of the city. I loved the pool.
- Giuliana (10/5): Amazing place near Chiang Mai - This place is amazing. Surrounded by the beauty of nature, the bungalows are in front of a clean and small pool, a nice place to chill out at the sunset. The restaurant is perfect, you can find different dishes, Thai and International dishes, good prices and well-cooked. The staff is really kind and helpful and the all the resort is well-preserved and clean. Wi-fi is also good. The area is plenty of opportunities and Grab arrives there. If you like walking, you can easily reach the most important attractions in 30/40 minutes. It took 30 minutes to arrive in Chiang Mai but it is calmer and the temperature is better in the burning season. Highly recommend! nothing, it is perfect.
- Supree13 (8/5): Very good -
- Terry (10/5): Beautiful, tropical Hideaway !! - First Class service, staff and food. Beautiful, super comfortable, super clean bungalows. Great, relaxing salt water pool. Already looking forward to my next stay !!
- Steve (9/5): Great little hidden away place to stay. - The resort is very well maintained, and the room and bathroom were very big and super clean. Each room is like a small bungalow. The pool was simple but clean and enjoyable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant served a variety of foods, and everything was impressively good.
- Kristen (10/5): wonderful stay. highly recommend! xx - fab stay. many thanks. cute rooms very clean and friendly staff. would definitely stay again without hesitation. thank you all for a perfect stay shower was a bit “iffy” don’t make it hair wash day while there. this did not distract from how wonderful it was.
- Peter (8/5): Very good - The forestry environment was very pleasant complemented by the attentive staff and excellent food served by the restaurant. It's also well located distance wise, to the various attractions and sights. The falling leaves into the pool, but it's no fault of the staff as they tried their best to get rid of it. The annoying village dogs were barking in the middle of the night.
- Saowapark (9/5): Good place to stay for holiday. - Breakfast is very good.
- Alvin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (10/5): - Always a pleasure to come back here and be treated as an old friend by Paul and On.
- Jessica (10/5): Great place to enjoy nature - Beautiful and peaceful place. Very clean. Nice staff. Excellent food at the restaurant. Nature surroundings for relaxing getaway. Comfortable and spacious rooms. Huge pool. I wish I stayed longer!
- Tiffany (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kim (9/5): Plenty of shade, but still pretty and a good location near tourist attractions - The hotel is at the bottom of the hill so our driver was relieved not to have to drive the 20 minutes up the winding hill to our previous location 15kms away. The hut-type accommodations were fine - clean and adequate with a little patio for two chairs and a table. It's a very leafy location so the sun isn't able to break through much- not reaching the patio or, 3/4 of the pool area. Meals were good. Very very strong coffee, beware. Too many trees, blocking the sun
- Alireza (10/5): a home away from home - - a secluded hotel. a place to reconnect with nature. the only thing that you only hear is the signing of the birds.
- the location is excellent. Far away from noisy and polluted city center of Chiang mai, in quiet a street. You need off course a scooter or a car to explore around. 30 minutes from hotel to samoeng viewpoint (attached picture.). There are two waterfalls near hotel and countless other attractions. 7-eleven and a drug store is nearby.
- The owners and the staff (the boys and girls) are extremely helpful and nice.
- The swimming pool is very clean. The views from swimming pool are divine.
- The hotel is spotless clean: you would see the staff are always cleaning and taking care of hotel.
- The food is really delicious and cheap.
- the room was really clean and had everything that you need. I liked the hard bed.
- Nukulkit (9/5): Superb - Staff is very good. Food is suitable and effordable. Nice place!! The shower is quite less water amount.
