Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (6/5): Read - Interesting stay. Great location and fairly quiet. A warning you only get one room card even if there are 2 people in that room.
If you need to access the gym (treadmill, bike, small weight only) you are required to forfeit your room card for the allocated one hour. Cleanliness is sub par. Won't let me post images. Papers left behind from previous occupant. Not much deep cleaning done.
Lastly limited english so be aware.
- Jussi (10/5): - Great location and view. Staff was helpful. Everything was smooth.
- Clara Brigitta (4/5): - Average hotel in convenient, central location. Room was very humid (no dehumidifier), and when the AC was not on a very cold setting there was a mouldy smell. Staff was helpful when I asked them to please print my boarding pass. Cleaners are not very thorough unfortunately. They left my clothes (which were laid out on my bed when they made the bed) in an untidy pile, which felt disrespectful. A white undershirt was also taken from my bedroom - most likely an accident as the bedding is also white, but it was very annoying, and made me feel like I cannot leave my belongings in the room for fear the cleaners will handle them disrespectfully or lose it.
- Fearless67209277352 (10/5): Excellent Experience - Very good location! There is a direct bus from the airport. It is just a few minutes walking from the MTR station. Lots of restaurants around the hotel and shopping malls are also within walking distance. The room is clean and comfortable. Reasonable price in Hong Kong.
- dborja (10/5): I would stay here again! - Great location. Hotel rooms are new - very clean and comfortable. Good amenities including umbrellas that could be borrowed for the day. We even received a shopping bag! Nice restaurant with good food. Excellent hotel staff - very friendly and attentive.
- Clairebcruz (8/5): Boutique hotel that's a bit of a walk from the MTR - Stayed here for business. It's a bit of a walk (~10 mins) from 2 MTR stations. It mayb be convenient for those who are not carrying a heavy luggage. Like many rooms in HK it's tiny and it's difficult if you are 2 people inside the room. The bathroom area is walled by frosted glass. If you're coming here with family, I suppose it's fine. But if a coworker then someone needs to step out if taking a bath or going to the toilet as it's not necessarily sound proof too.
There's free breakfast offered with the room stay. Despite the choices being limited, I think it's substantial.
The staff at the reception had a hard time speaking in English which is a bit tough.
An ok stay overall but will stay elsewhere next time.
- Priscilla (8/5): - House cleaning is OK, but has room for improvement. The roof-top terrace was part of the reason why we chose the hotel. But we were told we were ‘allowed’ to chill there that time. Otherwise it should be used only for guests that order drinks! We thought it’s for all hotel guests! A bit disappointed!
- Richard (4/5): - Room smelled bad.
Carpet looked old, had holes in it.
Towels were old and threadbare.
Room much smaller than pictures.
Wouldn't stay there again.
- WAI HO (4/5): - Dirty
- Anna (6/5): - Even though laundry services was stated as an ammenity, it actually wasn't...The two female staff who check us in and out were quite unfriendly and slow too..
- OI L (8/5): Reception staff not friendly - Overall I was pretty satisfied during our stay. I’m especially impressed with the room attendant who changed our beddings very often and kept our room clean and tidy. However the staff at the reception were not very friendly and lack of smile. It did make us feel bit uncomfortable throughout our stay.
- Allen (10/5): - Excellent hotel and really great cleaning staff
- Tania (10/5): - Liked the convenience of the property for my destinations, proximity to a wide range of eateries and direct airbus transport to/from airport.
- Danny (8/5): - The staffs in the hotel were execellent. There are some nice restaurants near by and couple of small supermarkets if required.
- Antonio (6/5): - It's a good compromise between price and quality. In the photos, rooms look much bigger than they actually are and I couldn't use WiFi at all. There is a nice roof-top terrace.
Just don't expect a luxury hotel at budget price.
- Philip (4/5): - Staff is helpful, location is convenient. The only unbearable thing is the smell of sewage from the bathroom.
- Kristi (4/5): - Check in staff didn’t really helpful. She didn’t even want to make eye contact when talking. Asked about help us to call a taxi which lots of hotels will do, they declined. Some mold in the bathroom caulking.
- Curious13068000758 (4/5): Overrated - How to start mmm,
1st its expensive not worth the price
2nd breakfast is the same for 4 consecutive mornings 😂
3rd Wifi is super super slow
4th requested for extra pillow, 3x it never came
5th mini fridge is now working!
6th no bell service
7th a bit far from MTR
- Janet Wai Yin (8/5): - Have a nice balcony
- eugenea648 (8/5): Short HK trip - Hotel has began to show signs of aging.
Water pressure was great. Our aircon was still hot, (for me), at the lowest temp setting.
The hotel has only a bar/ restaurant on the top floor.
Occupancy was good, better than other hotels.
Rates are expected to rise further for tourism to survive.
Location is good, close to a holy Rosary Church.
Most of the shops and malls close by are still closed, so you have to walk to gateway or ocean terminal.
Still a pleasant hotel to stay.
- Pak Hang (8/5): - close to train station, easy to walk to any malls around there
- 318ycc (8/5): Pretty Good Boutique Hotel - We stayed at this the hotel last September. Location is pretty convenient. Very friendly and helpful staff. Pretty clean room. Air cond is good. Will definitely stay in this hotel again. Had not tried the restaurant since we forgot to make reservation. Will do that next time.
- Chan (8/5): Good place to stay - Excellent
- Simon (10/5): - Location and speedy checkin, cleanliness and staff are friendly
- Lamherman (8/5): tidy and comfortable - can hear the sound from the next room, room is not big but comfortable. Shower gel and bath gel is not so enough.
Hotel is not close to MTR, need to walk 10min plus, enviornment is good and tidy. Staff is helpful even we arrive a bit earlier
- audtog79 (10/5): Will be back again for sure! - Thanks Popway! See you again next time we visit HK. I just hope we can book even without a credit card hehhe! But nevertheless, it was a good stay!
The breakfast is yum too! Will definitely refer to it to other travellers. Thank you.
- Mjtriphk (6/5): Ok but not so happening. - Impolite Limited set Bf, rude service on breakfast. for adaptor need come down at lobby to collect. bf not as shown on hotel website. No proper PR. location was ok. room was small and struggle for buttons in room lightning etc.
- WaiChunC8 (6/5): advisory for better improvement - Good- location, good value of money.
Bad- Ventilation system in my room is quite noisy, stink smile at toilet and toilet not very clean, furnishings in my room are quite old (need more maintain), some hairs were found on the bed:(
- Sami7272365 (10/5): Good quality and location - Travelling alone, this was good value for money, room included all I needed and location is perfect. Next door is History and Science museums. Not too long walk to Tsim Sha Tsui center or nearest MTR station either.
- nursimag (10/5): Perfect location - Located very good place. Helpful staff, clean, good breakfast , restaurant and bar view is perfect. You can go everywhere easily also you can go China half an hour and come back same day. Very convenient hotel.
- kristinejanellea2020 (8/5): Excellent stay in this new hotel - The room was clean and new. Staffs are all friendly and accommodating. I find the walk to TST and Jordan a bit far more than 1km i think. Good thing hotel is near a bus stop so that is a plus. Overall good experience but will probably book another hotel closer to the city center.
- fatihsK1019XM (2/5): weak weak weak - if you want horrible claustrophobic hotel go there m2 may be correct but most important thing m3 you can easyly reach the top so i dont recommend unhelpful management super weak breakfast weak internet speed
- johnlV6964OR (8/5): Good location, helpful staff, great value. - Good location, short distance to tst’s night life Precinct. The room is a bit small, but ok for HK standard. There's only 2 lifts in the building, can be a long wait during peak hours. I have stayed here for 7 nights, any only cost me ~$460 Aud.
- furam (8/5): View is amazing - View is amazing but not every room.
Location is excellent 👍.
The staff is nice and the top of the
building can see beautiful view.
Next time I'll stay there again.
:D
Every type of traveler stay here would be a good choice.
- Tourist24110338399 (10/5): GREAT - This is a great hotel! Due to housingproblem in HK it is very difficult to find a big hotelroom for good prices. But this hotelroom was bigger than expected and it was very clean and had all the necessary amenities. Staff is helpful when needed and location is good with many nearby restaurants and less than 10 min. walk to metro.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great location and convenient - It was good and convenient
- paulbN9473TO (10/5): Friendly and convenient! - I stayed here with a friend for a week in November. The hotel was easy to find and convenient for the A21 airport bus. It's about ten minutes walk to two nearby MTR stations.
The staff are VERY helpful - I did read a couple of negative reviews about the staff, but I found them to be friendly, helpful and accomodating.
The rooms are small, but not tiny. Sure, you can bigger rooms at international chains, but then you're paying much more. I had no issues with the size of the rooms. The bathroom was spotlessly clean each day and the shower was hot and powerful.
The hotel is some 18 floors, with around 34 rooms. There is an awesome roof top bar, open from 1600-2400 each night. We didn't try the restaurant nor breakfast, but there are many food places nearby.
Power sockets are UK style, the Aircon is efficient, there is a minibar stocked with water each day, and a kettle and coffee maker.
Would I stay here again? Absolutely. Special mention to Jacky who helped both before and during our stay there.
- Shou Yueh (8/5): - Great location good service but no outlets in toilet and only one chair in room
- Ednaliz21 (10/5): Fantastic! - We had a very relaxing stay at Popway Hotel. The room was right fit for our family and my daughter enjoyed her stay. The restaurant crew were all accommodating. The senior guy at the front desk was very helpful and gave us tips and recommendations for our trip and how to catch our early morning flight to Manila. Highly recommended place to stay in HK.
- 682mikaelb (10/5): Modern hotel In the Middle of Tsim Sha Tsui - A good starting point for your visit in HongKong and near to trains. You can reach hotel with bus 21 from the airport. Many attractions could be reach by walking. Take a walk along the waterfront.
Room are not spacious but nice with good beds and nice bathroom. Minibar is free and is filled up every second day.
- Kate (8/5): - It was great to have a big balcony but the room is quite small, amenities well equipped and the bathroom is clean with very stable water pressure. Breakfast is included and it's tasty with nice view and friendly staff!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Fantastic Hotel in TST - Everything about this hotel was outstanding. If you're staying on a weekday, I wouldn't even consider another hotel. However the weekend the price almost doubles, so plan accordingly. The gym is extremely small...it's fine for one person, but only one person at a time. Service was better than some 5 star hotels and the location was outstanding. Close to at least three different stations.
- Soon Sang (10/5): - It was very good and comfortable. Hope we stay that hotel again.
- Zafarali (10/5): - Stayed here for 4 nights. The rooms were clean but small. However, the place is so well located! It’s close to the metro and tons of places to eat and drink. It’s close to the harbour front which makes it perfect for a night walk. On rainy days the Hong Kong museum is right opposite and perfect to spend a couple of hours. I highly recommend this hotel because it’s just so affordable and clean for the location. Will be back!
- Christina (8/5): - Overall good but room smelled very musty.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Solid hotel for a good price - rooms are small, but have what you need. Good location to get in to Central HK and to reach Kowloon station if you're traveling up to mainland.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Simple but equipped with the necessities.
- Dan (6/5): - A no frills place to crash. Bathroom had a bit of trash on the floor and the lobby feels significantly nicer than the rest of the joint. Likely that you'll hear some road noise as well Close walking distance to the fantastic attractions of TST. Would do it again but not as my top three choices.
- Mark (8/5): Fine hotel: limited (biased) news channel options. - Overall my stay was a very positive experience. The only downside was the selection of news TV channels in English for times I wanted to catch up on the news: Fox News and Bloomberg. Bloomberg was fine, but Fox News is not news. I would have expected BBC or CNN (ideally both).
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The hotel staff were very very helpful. Breakfast was so-so, and not value for money.
- Sam (8/5): - It's a nice boutique hotel which nicely decorated tiny rooms in HK. Very clean with a polite staff and service. The rooftop bar has nice distant views of the harbor. There some machine noises in the room the first night, but wasn't noisy the second. Space is tight in the room, but not as tight as others I've stayed in Asia.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Staff was great - friendly and helpful. I highly recommend.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good price decent room - Only stayed one night. Room size is ok for one person. Good location for food.
- WS (10/5): - Clean hotel and friendly staff. Convenient location
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good stay overall - It was a good stay overall but on one day while I was taking an elevator, I had to wait 15 minutes as both elevators were occupied by staff taking linens in between the floors and they didn't let me get in the elevator. I was late to my business appointment. The hotel management might need to consider about limiting one elevator for the staff to use during the day and letting the hotel guest use the other elevator.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Surprise, it pretty quiet although my room face the lift. A bit cramp for 2 person for the room space, otherwise the overall experience was good , clean environment and easy reach to busy shopping areas.
Needs to improve on the breakfast choices as there is only western at the moment.
- Cheong (8/5): Small room but good location. - The room we stayed was pretty small and no place for us to put the luggage. We have to put our bag at the only walk way in the room. Luckily we only have 2 bags. The room is clean but there was dusty smell suspected came from the carpet.
Location is not bad, but need to walk about 10 minutes to Nathan Street / Jordan Street which are more happening.
The bus stop is just few steps ways from the hotel. We took the bus A21 direct from airport to the bus stop (the 18th stop point) in front of the hotel, this is the most convenience for us. We save a lot of time to find the hotel.
- Windy (8/5): - The hotel has great location, it is very convenience to go anywhere such as bus stop and subways. There are many restaurants near the hotel. The receptionists are very friendly, efficient and with good English.
There is fan to reduce the odor in the washroom, wish they could inform us at checking in or post a observable notice in the room
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Room is VERY SMALL. Internet is horrible although the manager brought us a new router which helped.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good central hotel. - Good hotel, in kowloon centre, easy walk to mtr. Stayed on floor 17 which was quiet. Good bed and wifi. Didn't use any other facilities.
- Linda J (10/5): Won’t forget sky bar night views with prosecco - Convenient, all modern furnishings & in room facilities. Nice touches like free caramel popcorn 🍿 + free soft drinks and water in the mini bar. The roof top bar was lovely at night - views towards harbour. I have had the lunch set many times before, at the 19F restaurant. Highly recommended.
I wish there were more English TV channels (2 of them not working properly).
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great hotel, easy check in, room was ready when I arrived which was really helpful! Location was good, about 20 minutes to start ferry terminal. Would definitely stay here again if I returned
- Vivian (10/5): Clean room - This is the most Best customer service hotel I’ve ever been. Especially Ellis. She’s very helpful.
- George (4/5): Not a nice play to stay - Very disappointing. If you decide to stay there you will understand why
- F (10/5): Great Hotel - Having arrived into Hong Kong on a late night flight and a single traveller I had emailed Popway Hotel before departing NZ with my concerns regarding how to get from the Airport to them. Popway Hotel was very prompt with their reply and guided me with step by step instructions on how to get to them taking the public transport. I arrived safe and sound to a very friendly welcome. The room was fantastic, with a nice comfortable, clean room and a great bathroom with all modern accessories. Complementary mini bar and snacks was also a lovely and welcomed touch after not having eaten much between flights. Popway is just a walk across the road to the HK Cultural Museum and other attractions. I would highly recommended this Hotel if you are looking for a place to lay your head after a full day of travelling around HK.
- Astrid (10/5): Great location - Popway is a boutique hotel in a greatnlocation. Around the corner of shoppingstreets. Opposite of 2 musea. There is a busstop opposte the hotel. Bus 21A takes you to the airport. Youu can walk to the waterfront for the lightshow every night at 8 and the Star Ferry to go to HK Island. The hotel has a rooftop on the 19th floor with a great view on the city. You get free popcorn in your room. On the left of the hotel they serve the best coffe ever and also hreakfast at Breads and Coffee. Open from 8/20h.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I hate writing reviews.
- Timothy (8/5): - The hotel was good in general.
However:
1. We were not pleased with the HK$500 deposit being charged to our credit card immediately, rather than being held against any wilful damage. This means that we pay for the charge and then wait for the refund in the following month.
2. No toilet in the lobby of the hotel
3. The staff had difficulty in changing the language on the internet in the lobby from Chinese to English.
- Ka Lok (10/5): Good - Nice staff at the reception. Room bigger than I expected.
- Bee (10/5): Nice and spacious room with 10 min walk to TST MTR - Hotel is nice and spacious and staff are nice. Can't think of any fault.
- Jordana (8/5): Modern hotel, great value! - Great hotel for the value (the price we got on hotels.com was very reasonable when we booked). The rooms are small but very modern and clean. The lobby is lovely and the people at the front desk were all very helpful. If you are on a budget but have taste, this is a great choice! Walking distance to Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station.
- Chris (10/5): Good location. - No complains. Everything was great. But, must serve more english channels for foreigners. Nevertheless, excellent hotel.
- chris (8/5): Very accommodating staff - Staff was very friendly and helpful. Good location. Rooms very clean. Beds not very comfortable. Overall a nice place for business travelers.
- Audrey Khang Yen (10/5): Modern, affordable and clean Hotel - Popway is a modern kind of hotel with affordable rate. The location is strategic, reachable to famous places in tsim sha tsui through walk. Room was nice and comfy and most importantly clean. Hotel employees were friendly as well. My friend and I enjoyed the stay there and will definitely choose Popway for our next visit to HK :)
- SHEILA MARIE (10/5): - The location is superb! Everything is walking distance plus the Staff are approachable and very helpful
- craig (10/5): Nice hotel safe area close to good restaurants - Friendy people great service helpful great spot close to mtr buses etc
- Sharon (10/5): Take your friends up to the roof for a drink. - This was our 2nd stay at this hotel. location and amenities are great. Take A21 bus outside the airport and direct to the hotel, and take same bus across the street directly take you to the airport for $33 for adults and $16.40 for seniors and kids.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Handy location, nice hotel - Friendly and helpful staff, clean facilities and great room service
- Verified traveler (8/5): Spacious room - The room is bigger than i thought and have a pretty good size balcony
- joanne (8/5): we Enjoyed staying in popway hotel - Nice hotel good location staff is very friendly and helpful I will stay there again
- Joshua (10/5): Perfect hotel to stay in HK - This hotel met all our needs while in HK. Room was clean and of decent size considering it's in the middle of HK. Location was close to everything too, just a little walk to the subway stations. Previous guests have complained of an odd stench at times --- I believe it's the smell of the durian fruit (not sure if they receive deliveries on certain times/days but we only had one incident of having the stench reach our room). They had a cellphone for travelers to use too which made our tour of HK even more convenient. For the price, it exceeded our expectations and would stay here next time we're in town again!
- MARC (10/5): - Allowed late checkout. Much appreciated!
- ingrid (10/5): Right in the middle of everything - This hotel is on a Central location. The staff was pleasant, the morning team seemed a lot more energetic and happy to help customers than the girl they have in the late afternoon. The room was clean, we appreciated the 2 bottles of water provided per day. Our room was on the 8th floor, and it was pretty quiet. Overall, it was a pleasant stay, in a central location, and for a decent price.
- Dada (10/5): Great hotel. Convenient location. Comfortable bed. - This is a great hotel and it is easy to find it. Convenient location, near to the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and subway station. It is also easy to find food. Just several minutes walk, you can find restaurant and food market.
Internal: very comfortable bed! The cleanness is OK, and everything looks good.
- Hoi Yan (8/5): Good short stay - Good location
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel close to everything - Convenient location
Friendly front desk
We chose room with 2 single beds. The single beds were smaller than a regular single bed, more like children's size beds.
- poochinbee (10/5): Nice hotel near to many restaurant - Overall, quite a nice hotel. Quite cheap as compare with other same standard hotel which is much more expensive. Near to many restaurant and nice food. Walking distance.
- Kristian (10/5): Recommended stay at Popway Hotel - We really enjoyed our stay at the Popway Hotel. We were at 12th floor and couldn't hear any noise from the street (and the view was nice). The room was pretty compact (like all rooms in Hong Kong) but still spacious enough for us and even had space for our travel baby cot. The staff at the front desk was super friendly and helpful. The restaurant on the top floor was also a good choice for dinner. The location was not directly at the harbour but still practical. There's also a very nice bakery / cafe just next door. Would highly recommend. Also the bus A21 from/to airport stops more or less just in front of the hotel. Although the drivers on that route were extremely rude and were screaming at us both ways something in chinese when it took more than 5 seconds to get in with all of out baggage (and the pram). Hotel is great and maybe consider taking another ride than the publiv bus there. Would definitely stay again.
- Steve (8/5): A nice surprise for the price - As a frequent traveler to HKG I expect tight rooms. This was a nice surprise. I was upgraded to a suite. My first time at this hotel. Drinks, snack and use of mobile in the room were free. Nice roof top bar. Location was great if taking the train to China. Good bar seen close walking distance.
- Rainier (10/5): Value for money - I was really surprised that the room was so spacious at such an affordable price. It was really somewhat of an exception than a norm for HK hotels. I also found it to be conveniently located in the Tsim Sha Tsui area. A good walk and a stroll to key shopping areas and food establishments. I also liked the fact that it was near enough to the MTR station as well as having a bus stop just in the immediate vicinity of the hotel. Breakfast was also awesome, the 180 degree view at the top of the hotel was really invigorating to start my day.
- BARWIN P (10/5): - good location
great staff (very friendly and courteous)
pleasant rooms
- Andrew (6/5): - Well located in TST and a good size for Hong Kong. Air con smelled musty and made me feel a bit ill. Common areas were not very clean. Bed was hard as a rock.
- Belinda (10/5): - convenient with metro a short walk away.
- steve (2/5): Poor management and horrible customer service - I booked this hotel as I utilize the site office, and somehow the day for the reservation was approved for one day earlier than originally put into computer. Thus when printed and confirmed it showed the day before my stay, and even before I would be in the country. I noticed with 15 seconds and tried to correct but from what was related to me they would not realize that the computer made a mistake and am stuck paying for a room while not even in country. I did book another room on orbitz the next day but am totally unhappy about this and feel disenchanted. I am not happy the property would nit recognize a mistake and for good will purposes allowed the charges to be reversed.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel near public transportation - Nice hotel near restaurants and public transportation. Walking distance to harbor, Nathan road , shopping mall .
- yifei (8/5): Great location! Nice Hotel! - Excellent location... 10 minutes min walk to Temple street... 15 to star ferry... roof top patio was great!
- Paul (8/5): great little hotel near K-Town - great little hotel. Only 4 or 5 rooms per floor.
nice clean rooms. Not as small as I expected which was good.
comfy bed and and had a nice view of the science museum. free minibar!
only gripes were the walls are a bit thin. Could hear next door through the walls but earplugs fixed that. There was also a musty smell when the air con was turned on but disappeared after a while.
Overall nice stay and would stay again.
- Alana (10/5): Good hotel - Good hotel in a great location. Easy to get to from the airport and the bus stop is 20 meters away. Friendly staff. Room has a mobile phone to use with free data & calls in HK. Brilliant idea for international travelers. The wifi was good. The staff wrote notes for all my taxi drivers in Cantonese. I would recommend.
- Wong (8/5): A hotel with nice little touches - Easy to find on the main road. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Free mini bar dribks and popcorn.,The hotel provides a smart phone for your use throughout your stay. This is very handy as we used this phone when we were out exploring hong kong.
