Guest Reviews
- Carl (5/5): The room was musty and the cover up scent was overwhelming - It was convenient Tight parking
- Ken (7/5): -
- Dianne (7/5): Easy to find and a decent overnight stay. - The room could stand a little paint touch up.
- Katlyn (10/5): - It was close to everything for me for groceries and for work
- Sid (3/5): Why stay there again? - Getting bit by bed bugs. I should have called the police & board of health.
- Joel (6/5): Basic room with no extras. - Close to antique outlets. Clean. Comfortable bed. Easy access to parking lot. STRONG CLEANING SMELL.
Small room.
- Matthew (4/5): - It was a place to lay my head at night Originally booked one room three beds was offered a second room only two beds for large men in our party
- David (4/5): Never again - Parking outside the door, no bed bugs The pillows were awful and the pillow case’s looked stained. We put towels on the pillows to avoid laying directly on them. The overall decor was very old and needed updating the counterpane was out of the 80s.
- Julianne (8/5): - Average
- Timothy (5/5): -
- Butler (5/5): Would probably not stay again. - Good location. Bed was comfortable. Staff friendly. Strong air freshener in room and when I unplugged it there was a bad musty odor. Needs updates.
- john (10/5): - Best price in area dated but clean and all we needed.
- Daniel (8/5): - I had a nice quiet stay, with friendly staff.
- michele (2/5): - arrived on Thursday and left Saturday night, actually cut our stay a day short. No housekeeping at all. Luckily we brought extra towels.
- lona (10/5): - Everything was great the staff friendly helpful I would stay there again on my next trip there was nothing that i didnot like
- Lugo (10/5): It was nice, clean, comfortable and quiet - It’s very clean and well kept Nothing
- Marta (10/5): - Everything was good
- Kimberly (10/5): -
- James (8/5): - In a pinch this place will do, nice folks.
- Janet (10/5): - My room was very clean which was very important to me. The manager of the property is very kind and accommodating. My stay was exactly like I hoped for. I would stay at Penn Amish Motel again.
- Pat (8/5): Very good - The location was perfect for my stay. I like the proximity to the Turnpike. I was attending activities in the Denver/Ephrata as well as Shillington & West Reading areas. I wanted an economical motel. I wasn't looking for amenities. I didn't need breakfast or coffee. There is a Dunkin Donuts close by for breakfast & coffee. This motel was perfect for me & totally met my expectations.
- Jason (10/5): WOW! This motel packs a punch for the price! - Beautiful location! Wonderful, comfy room. Very friendly management. Free, safe parking. Clean Bathroom was above average with plenty of towels and hot water. Super easy Check-in and Check-out. GREAT channels on the television that are comparable to most hotels, so it is perfect for the kids. I would definitely come back next time I'm in the area. There was absolutely nothing that I didn't like or wished could've been better.
- Boyd (1/5): Bad - The owners could not speak/understand English very well. The room reeked of mold and mildew, the towels wouldn't dry from day to day due to the dampness of the room. Our clothes were damp when we left and all of our belonging smelled when we left. Won't be back.
- Mimi (5/5): been staying there for years. new owner seems to like monthly stays - no breakfast
- Ron (8/5): - Room seemed recently refurbished. AC was old and noisy.
- Xu (7/5): overall my stay was pleasant - there is no breakfast provided in this hotel, however, there is a supermarket/restaurant very close to it and you can buy anything for your breakfast, lunch and dinner. since the hotel has the small frige and microwave, you can definitely feed yourself easily Location is great
- Lona (7/5): good stay but need more supplies - it was a good location for my trip staff was friendly not enough towels and washcloths for 2 persons no cups in the room to use for brushing you teeth in the morning bed was not comfortable
- Nancy (6/5): Adequate - Room was clean minus dust on coat hooks. Very disappointed that mini fridge/freezer was not plugged in. I plugged it in but it never got cold. Heater was great. Really too powerful. I had to get up in the night and turn it way down. Bed had two very small and flat pillows. Good thing I brought my own.
- Cecil (2/5): Very poor - Clean bathroom Burn holes in bed spread
- M176OCkristyb (6/5): So-so experience - I originally stayed here a few times because I was in a long-distance relationship. This was a good point to meet when either of us couldn't drive the entire distance.
It was definitely a learning experience. I learned to start travelling with a power strip and extension cord. They are very small rooms with no outlets in the bathrooms and only two in the room -one under the desk and one for the refrigerator. There is also no counter space in the bathrooms.
Many rooms have mold problems. After the sixth or seventh stay, I decided to use my points down the road and continued to stay there after making friends with the GM.
This works if you are on a budget, traveling solo or just need a few hours of rest while traveling. Look into other options otherwise. Definitely do not recommend for a stay longer than one night.
- Ryan (6/5): Good enough for what we needed - The room was just what we needed and our night was quiet. There was no one on either side of us so I suspect that lead to a quieter night. It looks like there are long time residents in some of the motels. In my experience, that can lead to less than quieter stays, but it was so cold no one was outside.
The room was simple and clean and the bathroom was sufficient. There was ample table space, a small fridge, and a microwave. The heat for the room was very poor, it was an AC wall-type unit and it was struggling to keep the warm room; it also kept turning off and on all night.
There were only 2 small pillows on our king bed, and they were quite flat.
- Matthew (6/5): - The price listed on the app was not the price they said when I got there.
- Jerome (8/5): Old but nice - Convenient Need more pillows
- Tim (8/5): All good - All good
- Haig (5/5): Ok for an inexpensive nught’s stay - Inexpensive, ok basic accommodations Relatively old
- Timothy (6/5): Pleasant -
- john (2/5): picture does not show true - the picture is not of our room. Ants in bathroom . Tv froze every 2 mins. tv convertor didn't work needed batteries. Would never stay again.
- Sherman (8/5): It was a very good value motel. No frills, but the price was very reasonable. -
- Akers (7/5): Good - Price Was expected to be Amish ran it wasn't needs more pillows only one pillow a person no places to get anything to eat after 10:00 had to drive like 8 Miles
- Tim (2/5): Gross - Cheap Smelled horrible, very out dated, couldn’t believe the stains on everything
- Carolyn (5/5): We tried it twice and won't be returning - What breakfast Lots of flies in the room. not enough towels and wash cloths, owner was hard to understand
- Donald (2/5): Keep on driving - Very disappointing stay....Check in was fine. Early in the evening I pulled down bedspread and blanket and noticed an 8 inch wet circle on the sheet that went through both sheets to the mattress pad...the blanket and spread were not wet...it appears that sheets were not changed from previous guess...went to office and they gave us another room...dont stay here. They dont change the sheets...Hand towel in bathroom also had been used..
- Verified traveler (6/5): Satisfied - The room had an odor, the towels were bad and had to fight flies. I was there for a Aau tournament. The stay over all was fine.
- Carl (1/5): Not a good experience!! - Location was good. Bed was horrible, very uncomfortable. There were blood stains on the comforter. The toilet was an elongated toilet with a round toilet seat, so you had a big gap at the front end of the toilet. The room I rented for my children and their children, with 3 full size beds. They only give you 2 towels and 2 wash clothes for 5 people. Seemed to be a lot of shady people living there. Would never return.
- Maria (8/5): Satisfied ... would stay there again. - Friendly and helpful staff. Clean room with hot water. Working air conditioner, refrigerator, Mostly quiet. The refrigerator and air conditioner were loud. Soap but no shampoo in the bathroom.
- Brandon (6/5): Pleasant -
- Alex (10/5): - Room was updated from past stays there. Pleasantly surprised
- Tim (8/5): Very good - All good, no issues
- Jeff (10/5): Great bargain and great location - Location was awesome. In and out so easy and everything was near by. The owner was very nice and polite. Will definitely be going back again in the summer. The pillows are to flat and no hair dryer. Need better fluffy pillows. It was hard to sleep with the flat pillows and waking up with a stiff neck.
- Nelson (10/5): Exceptional -
- Beachy (9/5): Had the basics and was clean. -
- Tim (8/5): ALL GOOD - ALL GOOD, NO ISSUES
- Christopher (8/5): Nice and clean and comfy - Owner operators were very freindly and welcoming. Slept like a babby. Room a little small and old but very clean.
- Willis (1/5): Never again. - Cheap. Get what you pay for I guess The room could have been clean. Someone’s half drank Diet Coke was in the fridge, and there was a blood stain on the sheets.
- Jeremy (10/5): Exceptional - Easy check in. Great location Nothing
- Tim (8/5): Good location and value. - Close to where I was going. Had very noisy neighbors.
- Joel (6/5): - This is a BASIC old school motel. Very clean, everything works. If you want coffee in the morning, bring a coffee pot. No shampoo or conditioner supplied but there's soap.
- Tim (8/5): Very good - All good, Close to my Sunday stop
- Nick (8/5): Very good -
- Tim (8/5): All good, been staying for years when in the area. - All good, Quiet and peaceful. No issues
- Jeremy (3/5): We slept because we were tired, but so ready to get away from the smell. - Location was great for our needs. Check-in went ok. Nice and quiet. Cheaper than most in the area. The cheap price looked expensive by the end of our night. A strong smell of mold assaulted our nostrils as we opened the door, and clung to our clothes as we left. If you have any suspicions of having mold allergies come here to confirm. My eyes and nose cleared up when our taillights were miles down the road... Ive worked in residential construction for 10+ yrs, and most basements do not smell this bad. This place needs a lot of work to the core of the building to bring it up to the standards expected in most hotels. No Penn, definitely no Amish.
- Lona (9/5): quiet qnd compy weekend - i like the location center location to my needs there was nothing that i dislikedcompy and quiet week end
- Randy (7/5): Thank You for being friendly -
- Rcsaas (2/5): Filthy - Absolutely Filthy. This has got to be one of the fithiest hotels we have ever been in. We checked in, went to the room, looked it over, and walked right back out. The refrigerator was dirty, it was not clean at all and had black mold inside. But the bathtub.....the WORST. There was sooo much hair in tub and on the sides. When asked, the owner said he just cleaned it. There is no way he cleaned anything. Don't bother to look at the beds, they are disgusting. I would not put to much stock in the reviews that say its cozy, it's not. How this hotel is still in business is beyond me
- Sandy (6/5): - The room smelled like smoke.
- Thomas (9/5): Friendly and helpful staff, not fancy but nice, in a convenient location. - Close to everything. Nothing fancy, but nice, comfortable, and just what I needed. Staff helped with my late arrival and suggesting where to park with my trailer. Not very scenic. But it was fine and pleasant.
- Ralph (7/5): Good -
- Barry (10/5): - Fot=r an economy hotel my room was very clean and neat
- Rogalski (8/5): Comfortable lodging - Location was great, within 20 minutes of my activity, price was good(last minute). Rooms were a little dated, and the beds were extremely hard.
On the second night, the television system glitched, I could bring up the show I wanted, but it wouldn't load, tried several shows, no luck.
- Ted (10/5): Fantastic experience overall - The room was very clean. Checking in was very simple, the guy was extremely pleasant and helpful. Checking in at 11am was a huge plus for me. I have stayed here about 6 times over the last 3 years. Each time was very good! Nothing! Mother nature could've held off on the rain.
- Silvia (10/5): Exceptional - Breafas
- Francis (4/5): Overpriced for the type of facilities - Convenient location Tiny room had problems with the shower n the ac
- Miosotis (10/5): Exceptional -
- Edith (10/5): Good experience. - Friendly staff, clean room. Na
- Jesse (10/5): Exceptional -
- Linda (10/5): - It was very nice and clean. And very quite.People were very friendly.I would make reservations again, nest time I need to go to Pa.
- Buhrman (10/5): If you want a comfortable bed at a good price, this is the place. - This is a review in context - I needed a place to sleep, not luxury. For that purpose, Penn Amish was perfect: comfortable, convenient, and inexpensive. I've stayed twice and probably will return. Nothing.
- Brian (10/5): Exceptional - Room was very clean, fast WiFi and Manager was awesome ! nothing
- Martha (8/5): Very good - Owner was very accommodating, very helpful in meeting expectations.
- Monty and Teresa (10/5): - The couple that own the place are beyond helpful and friendly. Our first evening, we had an issue with the tv going out, and after reviewing the satellite had gone out, they were more than helpful and offered us another room :) The location and environment were perfect for our stay to go to a lot of local antique shops in the area. We had such an enjoyable stay. The property was very clean and has a very welcoming atmosphere.
- Leslie (9/5): Superb - Friendly Dish stations kept giving an error signal
- Lona (6/5): Pleasant - i like the location of the hotel . the new owner was every helpful and friendly person was there to fix anything that need fixing the fact that they did not have a room with double beds for me that i booked but he did give me two rooms next to one another for the price that i was booked at i know they were having some kind of promble down in the other end of the hotel and they were working on it when we were there
- Glenn (9/5): Will definitely book again - Very friendly staff , good value and location! Room smells a bit musty and pillows were a bit uncomfortable.
- Kimberly (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rocco (10/5): Exceptional - Convenient location
- Julio (8/5): Excelente -
- Anonymous (1/5): Bad -
- Carole (3/5): meh - location it was pretty unclean and check in was a bit of a hassle.
- George (8/5): Very good -
- Hill (5/5): Passable - Location No amenities though price in line w others that offer them.
- Kilburg (6/5): great rate and location, but other amenities are limited - Parking was free which was nice. I was able to park very close to my room. The location was easy to access from the main highway as well. The staff was friendly as well. Checkin and Checkout were easy. The Wi-Fi kept cutting out. I tried to work from my room but it was unreliable, so I gave up and packed up early. The refrigerator/freezer in the room wasn't working well. My ice cream sandwiches I bought the night before were melted by morning and had to be pitched.
- Donna (2/5): Terrible - when I went to check, felt I was being inconvenienced to owner. The size of room disappointing. The carpet was dirty/stained. The WiFi kept going in/out. No pillowcases. Only pillow protector. Stain on box spring. Room smelt musty. The Febreeze that was in bathroom empty. I had to get a candle to help freshen room. The water pressure/temperature was great. However, the molding around tub was coming apart and there was mold in cracks and in and around the tile wall of shower. The previous reviews showed good and with name penn Amish, thought it was run by Amish. That was in error. Shows 7/10. That is incorrect. I wouldn’t give it past a 4 (that’s being nice)
- James (4/5): Disappointing - Location The pillows were flat, the heater in the room didn’t work and the room smelled bad.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Parking is free and always close to room.Owners are always friendly and available.
- Leibold (4/5): Disappointing -
- Dan (8/5): exactly what I was looking for - clean
quiet
friendly no coffee 😯
YET!!
- Paula (10/5): - Nice place.
- Robert (4/5): - This is a very old property, It's not in very good condition. Seems a bit unsafe as it is back from roadway and not many people there. OK for a cheap one night stay if you don't mind condition and musty smell in the room.
- Sid (9/5): Superb - Location was a+
- Emma (6/5): Pleasant - Was comfortable, clean and quiet. Could be less expensive and could offer coffee and breakfast.
