- Robert (4/5): - There is good and there is bad.
We only needed a place to sleep. We are not picky. We called in advance to make sure we could check in very late. No problem. I feel bad. Because we had to ring doorbell and wake guy up. However, he was fine.
3 issues. The office says check out is 11am. Expedia says check outvisv11am. He says check out before 10 am! The room had a marker on the door changing check out from 11 to 10am. Our whole purpose was sleeping in.
The place appears clean, but so many allergins in bed we are so stuffy can't sleep.
There was a man outside our room singing loudley between 1am and 3am probably on something.
Very convenient to interstate 79.
I also found it odd when we walked in and I thought i was turning on the light, i cut the power to the whole room. The breaker is right above the light switch.
This being said, I've stayed in a chain hotel in Charleston before which wss extremely scary. So still might not be thecworst choice in this city.
- Peter (10/5): Budget Motel - Good Value - The motel somewhat tricky to find however beautiful location on the river. Very quiet, room well appointed and clean. Good lighting in bathroom and great shower pressure. Very reasonable rates. Very good pizza restaurant 5 mins walk away.
- Cassondra (10/5): I enjoyed and will be back again - The cleanliness and the staff
- Robin L (10/5): - I love that it's on the river

- Jason (10/5): - We stayed here for a quick night while visiting family. Quaint hotel thay reminded me of our mountainsode inns in our NC mountains.
- Zoe (4/5): - Mainaince wasn’t up to date. I had to wash bedding and clean the room to use and put anything down.
- Adams (7/5): Glad we found an affordable room for one night near Charleston, WV. - Room spacious, clean, and surprisingly quiet. Every one was kind and cheerful and most of all it was in our budget! It was a little hard to find.
- Mallory (4/5): - It smelled bad and the sheets where dirty and it was just ghetto
- Carleen (8/5): Perfect base for our day trips around the area. - Clean, Comfortable Beds. Nice informative staff. We only slept there two nights while we toured the surrounding counties during the day.
- Shawna (10/5): The reviews on this one were correct. The view of the river was gorgeous. Very clean and well maintained. Staff was ve - Very clean and well maintained.
- Jeanne (10/5): - Fabulous view of the Kanawa river. Was able to park right in front of my room, super convenient. Owner super nice. Great rate. Room was clean and had everything I needed. Quiet on the river side but could hear traffic outdoors but quiet at night. The bathroom could use a little more cleaning. But overall really enjoyed my stay.
- Marla F (10/5): - Easy access. Park right up to the door. Clean. Comfortable bed. I made the mistake of booking a smoking room. The owner switched me to a non-smoking room at no extra charge.
- Sherri (8/5): - Hotel by the river. So quiet, so relaxing. Room was very clean and comfortable. A little run down. Could use some professional touch ups. All in all, for the price, it was very nice.
- Michael (8/5): Well kept budget hotel - Clean and comfortable Nice setting by the river. No frills but a well kept bargain/budget site.
- Administrator (8/5): - They are great at getting room refreshed each date. I also like that they are not invasive.
- Dorothy (6/5): - Hard to access.
- Katina (10/5): - Very friendly staff . The room was clean and the area is quiet next to the river. Nice view .
- lewis (10/5): - This the place to stay if you are going to Laidley Field for games or track meets. Reasonable priced, quiet, and 10 minutes from any kind of food you want to eat. Its in partial hidden location but great overlook of river and across to Kanawha City. Staff was nice and easy check in and check out.
- Natasha (1/5): Not great like the ratings it shows…. - Only near the river. The staff was very rude before I ever checked in. My car overheated when I pulled in. I had me and my three kids (babies) and the antifreeze came out the resivor. They seen that and came banging on my window and told me to leave it’s leaking etc and I got out checked on it in the parking lot and they kept saying I needed to leave so I said “ I booked a room here but I’ll take it elsewhere”
Left and fixed my car and then returned bc I didn’t want to lose money. Checked in and my room was changed from king to double (full size) me and my husband couldn’t fit in the same bed even. Then booking said it was $165 even after taxes but was $142 for two nights. Then I arrived and paid $171.64. I then go to the room after being aggravated. And it was FILTHY!!! The sheets wasn’t washed. Pee or drink stains on the sheets showing it wasn’t washed hair under the cover an streaks of whatever. After hazards everywhere for my children. I took pics and left and asked for a refund and he refused… then I said I took pictures of everything and he got scared and said no need I’ll give refund…. And the smell smelt like cigs and whatever else but it was a non smoking room.. then told me “Keep your kids quiet you have a neighbor” THEYRE CHILDREN!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very clean, quiet, budget friendly vintage stay - The room was just as described by other reviews we read. Quiet location, right on the Kanawha River. Parking right in front of room, and very clean rooms. Nothing fancy, but a nice overnight and affordable stay.
- Jim (10/5): - Wonderfully clean, well maintained older motel - really terrific
- Shannon (6/5): - It felt safe and quiet. The room was relatively clean. I would not stay here again, however. because the room was moldy and I was not able to breathe well or sleep well because of that.
- Joel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Katelyn (4/5): Disappointing -
- George (10/5): Exceptional -
- H (3/5): Poor - Nice staff Stinky dirty rooms, lack of wifi
- Gena (3/5): Poor - Lady at the check in desk was very rude
- Scott (10/5): Great old school motel - This is a very clean old school motel. If you are staying in Charleston and you just need a clean comfortable room at a great bargain. Stay here.
- ChrisL444 (2/5): Creepy Huge Spiders and Unclean - Imagine walking into your room and running smack dab into spider webs! And finding them all over the room. See photos. When I turned on the shower the next morning, an additional spider ran out of the drain! The bathroom mirror was filthy. Again see photos. I do not recommend under any circumstances. Don't know why this was such high ratings from people.
- Alison (5/5): Served its purpose. - It was quiet. Needs updated.
- Armchair (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mary (9/5): We like the peacefulness of the night here!! - This hotel was quiet, located on the river, was peaceful watching the river on the little bench by the river. The room was a basic king size bed and fridge with freezer, microwave and TV. It was just simple and what we needed for the night. There was no breakfast included...that didn't bother us.
- Angela (2/5): - The quietness and safety
- April (10/5): - Beautiful water outside of the immaculately kept parking lot. Courteous staff. Cozy rooms. Would stay again.
- Christopher (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christina (10/5): A nice stopover heading south - We have stayed at this place many times for an over night stay on the way south. It’s clean and comfortable. It’s an older motel that is well-maintained and kept up. They have made many updates over the years. It’s situated along a river and we have spent time watching the river traffic during warm weather, which is enjoyable. We will stay there again.
- Jan (10/5): - Clean remodeled older motel right on the river—-great place to spend the night. Only thing lacking was a coffee maker
- Thad (2/5): - Place is a joke. Smelt like cigarettes and hookers. Wife had to sleep in the car because the smoke smell was so bad, couldn’t find anyone in the office to complain to. Would not recommend unless you need a quickie with your mistress or hooker.
- Daniel (10/5): - This is a great deal and quite safe. When booking a budget hotel/motel I'm often wary of the safety and this is not an issue here. It's a great bargain for sure.
- George (5/5): Check your room first before accepting it. - It was located on the river and close to the areas we wanted to site see. The price was good. The staff was great and very pleasant. The room we got was on the back side of the building looking at the river and able to go sit on the bench to enjoy the river. Nice TV in the room. We got a smoking room for which we requested. The bathroom smelled bad of pee, just wiped down. Could have used a very good cleaning with bleach and disinfectant. The bedspreads looked dirty, should have been washed or changed. The inside of the refrigerator should have been cleaned, the bottom was dirty. No coffee maker in the room. The hairdryer should have been cleaned. (Which I didn't use).
- Karin (6/5): - If you are looking for a quiet clean place to stay the night this is a perfect place. We were lucky to get a room facing the lovely river. Like other reviews it is a bit dated but the bed is comfy, the water pressure is great, and the room is a nice size. FYI for coffee lovers there is no coffee machine in the room but we got one from nearby when we left.
- Alexis (10/5): Cheap and worth the money! - I love that it's all on the bottom floor. For someone who is disabled it worked perfectly and it's the only motel I've seen that has a smoking room! Nothing
- Denise (8/5): - This hotel is not up to date. Vending machine was old still took coins and dollars.
- Gail (10/5): - Nice hidden gem on the river. Older motel, but quiet, comfy and friendly hosts! Will definitely stay again when in the area.
- RICHARD (8/5): - Property seems kind of old but all the essentials are there. Owner turns off the heat when the tenants check out so be prepared for a chilly experience. Other than that, everything was fine and price was right.
- Ayondela (6/5): - Great room service. Heating made sounds, refrigerator was warm.
- Michael (8/5): - Cost was reasonable and manager was very helpful. He dealt with some noisy guests promptly. Very good attitude and friendly.
- Stefany (4/5): - Very rude staff and very poor service won’t recommend to anyone
- David (10/5): - Clean comfortable room and excellent service!
- Scott (10/5): Outstanding - I am guessing (and hoping) people will look at this older hotel and move on- good, because I want to keep this OUTSTANDING secret to myself and those who have stayed here. 1) Very Clean. 2) Beds are Great 3) View of the River 4) Excellent Internet 5) Too Many TV Channels ;-) 6) Great water pressure in the shower. The family running it is great and again, everything you need in a hotel- minus a fancy looking building.
- Angela (10/5): Quaint & Conveniently located - The overall look to this place is very quaint. I believe the owner lives on the property. The room was very nicely decorated. The motel is all ground level rooms, so it seems ADA friendly. I checked in at almost 11pm, but Mike greeted me with a smile. He had called me about an hour before, ensuring that I would still be checking in. He is a pleasant man. The property is very conveniently located right off of Interstate 64. I would stay at this property again. I felt very safe as a solo traveler at this place.
- Pamela (10/5): Exceptional - Easy access off the exit. Restaurant attached to the hotel. Clean spacious room, nice amenities, friendly staff.
- ValpoDave (10/5): Budge Host Charleston delivers an inexpensive, clean and safe stay! - Classic updated 60's MOTEL...pull up to your first floor room and door! I travel for business and pay own expenses. So I am "value" conscious. I just want a clean room, comfortable bed, good shower and internet. Nothing fancy. BH delivers. If you are simply looking for a clean place to stay for a quick overnight! BH is great. And ask for riverside...great views of the sunset for sure.
- Billy (8/5): - It was a decent stay, only slept there after the Jelly Roll concert. It was close to the coliseum, room was clean and beds comfortable. Check in was easy and quick
- Clayton (10/5): Good - It was better than expected for the price.
Room looked freshly painted. It did the job well for a sleep and go.
- Michael (8/5): - Nothing fancy, but clean and well cred for. Good price!
- George (8/5): Very good -
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good Enough - Hotel is exactly what you pay for. Was good enough for a night passing through. Hotel needs some TLC but was clean. Beautiful Mountain/River view behind hotel. Had benches to sit and watch the sunrise while drinking coffee.
- Peter (8/5): Very good - Was all very nice Tv remote was terrible
No food places close
- Matthew (9/5): Superb - Bargain price
- Patrick (8/5): Very good -
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nathan (1/5): Bad -
- sergey (10/5): - We recently stayed at the budget inn hotel and had a pleasant experience. The place was fairly clean, which made our stay comfortable. The owner was incredibly friendly and welcoming, adding a personal touch to the visit. The location is also quite nice, with great river views. Overall, a good choice for a stay!
- George (9/5): Superb -
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Lady at the desk was very friendly
Room looked fine when we first arrived
In the morning when the a/c was not running, room had a strong urine smell most likely from pets from previous stays
- Eric (10/5): - Love the fact this motel is right onbthe riverbank, with places to sit ans watch the river.
- David (2/5): - That place stinks the room smelled terrible I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. The room smelled so bad we left
- Verified traveler (10/5): Clean and comfortable - Older roadside motel with some renovations. Clean and comfortable. No bugs. Has fridge and microwave. No breakfast, and restaurant on property not open. I-64 is close, but I couldn't hear traffic with A/C on. No issues with A/C. Good blackout curtains that actually cover the window and do not interfere with A/C unit. Back side looks onto the river. Door opens with key (not electronic) and there is a deadbolt. I love that you can park right outside your room door. Would stay again.
- Fatemeh (8/5): - This property looks old, but cozy and easily accessible. Refrigerator door and the lamp switches can use some cleaning but otherwise, it was clean.
- Keith (10/5): - Always friendly, polite check in process. Perfect for the tight budget traveller
- Emily (2/5): - Spider webs in the top corners of the room. Old dirty furniture.
- Bradley (6/5): Decent low cost option - This is an older facility but it was clean and basic. Just what I was looking for. My only complaint was that I was at the far end of the building and the wifi signal wasn't strong enough to connect my laptop. Otherwise the stay was fine. I did enjoy the river view watching the recreational boaters going by. Also saw barges filed with coal going by. That was kind of a cool scene.
- Richard (3/5): Poor - No coffee. Shitty linens
- James (8/5): Great, old school, motel property! - The owner held my room, I did not get there until 3am. I really appreciated it!! I stay here every year on my trip from Georgia to Cleveland, great old school, park at your door style motel. Clean and very well managed.
- Hassan (2/5): - Good luck
