• Roi (8/5): - Best location in the area. The rooms were clean and spacious, which was perfect for our family.
• Barbara (5/5): Would NOT Recommend! Would not stay. - We stayed here because of the limited options for 1 night lodging. The location was very good. The lady at checkin was nice. The condition of this hotel is very poor. The room was supposedly renovated but it was sub standard. The odor upon entering the room was terrible, moldy smelling. The bedding was acceptable but smelled heavily of bleach. The condition of the door, the floors, the off-set toilet seat, the shower head encrusted with lime, the fallen leaves on the patio, all made for a poor experience. The worse was the overall very bad smell in the room. And the doors are old and dirty. We woke up very early and were very happy to leave. Wouldn’t stay here ever again. Since the rate was non refundable we had to stay the night. We travel a lot and sorry to say this is the most pitiful hotel.
• Jordan (10/5): Best Accommodation in Old Town, Fl.!! - The location was perfect and convenient for us. They are under renovation right now, but clearly, they will be making a lots of improvements. Very nice couple manages, and they are delightful. They were so accommodating and friendly. I got hugs from "Santa" when I left. That statement will make sense after your visit. Not enough lights in the room. The shower didn't work properly.

• Denis (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay! The motel is conveniently located right next to the highway, which makes it easy to find and perfect for travelers. The backyard area with barbecue facilities and a place to sit by the river is absolutely wonderful - you don’t even feel like you’re near the road. A peaceful and relaxing spot!
• Ashley (8/5): - This is a great little roadside motel. Remodeled and fresh paint. I would say I did not give 5 stars for 2 reasons: the price is just high for both the area and the type of motel it is. I would normally expect to pay $100 not $200. And the “balconies” you kind of anticipate having an actual balcony over the river but it’s really just a little deck built behind each room. They are cute but I would not really consider that a balcony. Very close to Fanning Springs. Pretty loud at night due to trucks on the road outside.
• Shari (8/5): - The staff was very nice and accommodating. Bring your own toilet paper and kleenex. The tp was EXTREMELY thin, no kleenex. Also, a deck of cards. The wifi was sporadic and so no tv. Beautiful setting on the Suawnee River, but alittle noise from US 19. The pool looked nice, although we didn't use it. The beds are comfortable and the room was extremely clean and updated. I would go back.

• Karen (8/5): Awesome Place - Wonderful place ! Unique, nostalgic what I call Old Roadside Travel Lodge ver reminiscent of the 50/60’s. Very well cared for and kept. The “backyard “ by the river is great. Fire pits, small pavilion, different sitting areas, huge dock at the water. I stayed in a very newly remodeled room. Very nice-not what I was expecting. Comfy bed, large shower, little terrace off the back just right for morning coffee, although I used the pavilion since it was raining and wanted to be closer to the water. Very friendly and hospitable staff !! Definitely look forward to staying there again ! Well done, Suwannee Gables 👏👏👏

It's updated with a nice deck on the backside to enjoy the Suwannee River and has a wonderful gathering yard on the river for guests to enjoy. They've done a great job with this property and are very friendly. I would recommend staying here to anyone wanting to enjoy the area and the river!

The room was dated and needs an upgrade. Room was over priced for the condition it was in. Ratings were to high for the condition of the room. I would advise not staying there. Look elsewhere.

• Kristie (8/5): Had wonderful stay , would stay again - Would’ve been nice if they would’ve had a coffee tea bar with maybe cookies and muffins for morning or evening as well as have a vending machine for a cold water and pop and such Love the idea of a more traditional motel feeling , Quaint and comfortable had a pool and access Suwannee River right from the property , had a beautiful outdoor space with puppy chairs overlooking the river and was very pretty lit up at night

• Bobbie (10/5): Quaint little hotel on The Swanee River! - Great little motel. Rooms were very clean and stocked with essential items. Pool was nice and even had friends come by to swim and visit. It’s has a beautiful view of the Swanee River . Also has a nice fire pit and setting areas to enjoy the outdoors. Owners were very nice and eager to help with anything. Definitely a nice spot for a good night sleep. We will be back.

• ezell (10/5): - It is a convenient location close to the state park with a wonderful backyard overlooking the Suwannee River. There is a wonderful Sweet shop across the street from the motel and some excellent dining up and down the highway.

With the river as your back yard what else could you ask for. I will be returning to the area and stay here.

• Jimmy (2/5): - This place was so disgusting we turned around and went home. Canceled the hole vacation. They offered to give us another room but they were all gross. Extremely gross. Stains on blankets and sheets drywall had mold and holes. Showers were all worn out and gross. The one room we were staying in had food and liquid in the bottom that nobody cleaned up. Happened to see the owner as I was giving my keys back and he didn’t apologize or offer money back. Simply asked if I would like to buy the place because he was sure I could run it better. This place was disgusting. I can’t believe a reputable company such as Expedia would even promote this

Never cleaned!! Looked like it was from the 1950's, never update. We walked out, turned key in said we are not staying here. This place was horribly disgusting. I don't see how anybody could stay in that place you want to call a hotel.

• Susan (8/5): Everything we needed - Old style Florida motor lodge. Slightly outdated, but room was clean and bed was comfortable. Perfect for our 1 night stopover with our dog. Beautiful riverfront park-like space.

• Jon (8/5): Old Florida lives!! - Definitely an old school, old Florida motel right on the Suwannee river. A no frills throwback to a time quickly disappearing. Small town diners nearby. Lots to do in the area. Experience it while you can!
• Jennifer (10/5): Gem on the Suwannee - The Suwannee Gables is an adorable motel in a GREAT location. I needed to meet my husband there, as he was kayaking around the entire state of Florida, and this gem of a motel was the perfect spot to meet and resupply him. The floating dock made it so easy for him to get in and out of the water. The owner is delightful, and the grounds were lovely. Although the rooms may not have been updated in quite some time, our room was more than adequate. I'd stay there again.
• Christa (2/5): never again-for this motel and hotels.com - ummmm i did not stay there because their front desk did not answer our “ring” to check us in after standing in the cold for 20 minutes. we also called their office with no answer. immediately reported this to hotels.com who also tried to call their front desk and did jot get an answer. however today i get an email that says the hotel will not “refund” my money. so now i get the great pleasure of wasting my time filing a dispute for a charge. i would NEVER recommend this motel NOR hotels.com and will never use hotels.com again. this is completely ridiculous that they think they can charge me for a motel stay where i was not checked in because no one would come to their front desk.
• Sheri (6/5): - This is a potential million dollar property that has not been nurtured or given loving care. The view as advertised was spectacular. Sand Spurs and fire ants prevented utilizing the ground for any recreational activities. Lighthouse Restaurant nearby, was old Florida yummy and friendly.

We didnt like the dead ants all over the bathroom floor or the live spiders on the ceiling. The tv worked after I unplugged it and reset programming. This kind of room is ok in a pinch but no place to hang out and relax.

• Lawrence (8/5): Good clean place to rest your head - We were fishing out of Steinhatchee and needed a cheap place to stay nearby. While the hotel was old, it was clean and the bed was very comfortable. No amenities such as a washer and dryer but it met our needs and expectations. My family is used to staying at Hampton Inn or higher end hotels but they had no complaints here.
• Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel - Nice old school hotel right on the Suwannee river. Not much in this area as it is a quiet old town but everyone was very friendly.
• Christy (4/5): - We were very disappointed in this property. The one plus was front desk staff. She was very friendly and helpful. Appeared as though she slept on couch in lobby amongst a bunch of storage boxes random appliances. If it wasn’t already so late at night and we hadn’t been so exhausted, we would’ve left after we saw our room. We had a cabin on the river and were told we got “the best one”. We had to drive behind the main building and across the grass to a totally unlit area. Had to use a flashlight to find our cabin, (trudging through tall wet grass) and unlock the door. Once inside we found dirty utensils in kitchen sink, empty water bottles on chair, sand on carpet, broken blinds with no curtains, broken out screens, dirty bathtub. My children were very nervous about staying there and all huddled into bed with me. We were up and out first thing in the morning and then were able to see that the grounds resembled a junkyard. Trailers full of junk covered in tarps amongst the overgrown weeds. The “marina”consisted of a small dock with no boats. Not somewhere I would recommend.

• Verified traveler (8/5): A place to rest on a long road trip. - We checked in at the front desk. It just so happened it was the owner of the motel he was pleasant and professional and very accommodating. We needed a place for two days and it was a great location. The room was clean. Nice restaurants around the area. Cute atmosphere.
• Steve (2/5): Price Gouging after a Hurricane! - Booked a room on Hotels.com. Drove 5 hours to Old Town Florida with my son. Right before we got there, I called to inform that we would be checking in soon. Manager said he had no reservation and no rooms available. When I meantioned my young son, he suddenly had a "newly remodeled room" for double the price. I said that I could not afford that. Pulled into 3 motels and luckily found a room. 15 minutes later I got a call from the Swannee Gables manager and he found my reservation "AND" had a cancellation. I said that I already found another room. He charged me anyway for 2 nights even though we did not stay there. WRONG AND BAD BUSINESS!
• Verified traveler (10/5): Hotel was closed, no electricity.no air condition - Hotel was closed due to hurricane damage, no light no air condition fo 3 days! I booked my room, why expidia didn't let us know! I drove 60 miles at night to get there! Please refund my bill ! I'm very disappointed
