- Patty Martin (1/5): - The bed was comfy. The refrigerator did not stay cold. I was unable to fill the bathtub with water to take a bath. Hardly any TV channels to watch on Direct TV. Musty, dusty, and stains on chair and carpet. Rooms really need to be remodeled and repairs need to be fixed.

- Jack (7/5): Cute, good value. - The historic property has been well maintained and adds a great element to the experience. It feels like staying in history The staff were not great. They need to take some lessons on hospitality. They did nothing to make us feel welcomed. In fact it felt the opposite. The owner (or guy in charge) was on a personal call when we arrived and told us to “just sit down” and it’ll be about 5 minutes. Someone else finally came out to help but not a great welcome. Throughout the stay they didn’t feel connected to the property. Just running a business. Not comfy or homey - as this property should have. Also the amenities (coffee, toilet paper, etc felt cheap - like motel 8 quality. Not a match for a luxury property.

- Carol (10/5): - We stayed 2 nights in 2 different unique, beautiful rooms. The first room was cottage with an outdoor soaking pool. The pool was wonderful. Heating was set for our check in. Only one quirk… the front door window just under the blinds/above door knob corner of window let’s the outside light come into room just at eye level hitting you in the eyes while laying in bed at night. I have a hard time sleeping with light, like that. But I brought my eye mask and was able to block that light out. The second room was in the main hotel with a claw tub. It was wonderful as I LOVE a great indoor soaking tub. The room was very clean & nicely decorated. We love music and were able to sit in the balcony outside our room with friends and listen the the Blues Band playing in the restaurant patio adjacent to the hotel. We ate 1 night at the restaurant Nextdoor. Our meal was delicious. Just a bit of a mix up. I called to make reservations at an early time (b/c they were having a very large Birthday event for the leader of the Blues Band). They told us we didn’t need a reservation if we were coming at an early time. However we did need them. They fit us in a table that was next to tge servers station (not ideal but adequate). Unfortunately, many of the shops/restaurant on the street the hotel is on have closed. So we are our few other meals at very good restaurants in Kelseyville and Lakeport. Overall we had a wonderful time.

The staff was very nice and the wonderful pool was a plus. I highly recommend if you are looking for a relaxing and peaceful place to stay in Upper Lake

There are other options to stay at in the area, but if you are looking for a very nice, comfortable and unique experience, I can't think any other place even comes close to this.

Restaurant directly next to hotel was wonderful and had a neat covered outdoor area to listen to live music. Room was adorable, very clean and bed was so comfortable. We had an upstairs room (carrying luggage up was a bit strenuous , but worth it! We enjoyed the outdoor balcony looking over the property. We loved this quaint little place that had such a great ambiance and peaceful atmosphere.

My only complaint was the continental breakfast. The only protein was a boiled egg. I gave a gluten allergy and would have welcomed some items without gluten.

- Yulrad (8/5): Nice - We enjoyed our stay at Tallman Hotel - our room was very nice and had everything we needed, it was also very quiet (we are light sleepers), the parking lot has EV charging stations. There's a nice restaurant right next to the hotel. Breakfast was just okay, our options were: granola, fat-free yogurt, croissants, jam and honey, boiled eggs, and some fruits.

- febtraveler2018 (10/5): WONDERFUL ! - My daughter and I stayed at the Tallman Hotel, in Upper Lake, CA for 3 nights in October 2024. My son was getting married in Kelseyville, CA so this was good location. Back in July, I had reserved 2 rooms for 2 nights (Friday & Saturday). One for me and one for my daughter. As the time approached we decided we wanted to come a night early (Thursday.) The rooms we had reserved for Friday & Saturday were already booked for that Thursday. So it looked like we would have different rooms for the one extra night and then have to check out at 11am and check back in at 4pm on the Friday. The staff was wonderful and they were able to move things around and arrange it so we could keep the same rooms for all 3 nights. The rooms were beautiful. They were Upper Garden rooms. Our 2 rooms opened to a private deck so we could visit each other without going downstairs and back up to the other one’s room. The beds were so comfortable, the sheet so soft, the towels thick and clean. There was an iron & iron board in each room (important for wedding guests!) Breakfast in the morning was unique and tasty. I had a misunderstanding on the 2 packages of cookies that were in the room in the coffee cabinet and thought they were complimentary. When the charge appeared on my bill I called the hotel. The manager was wonderful. She refunded the charge and said it opened their eyes to label things more clearly for future guests. The town of Upper Lake is small and quaint, but it was only a 12 minute drive on Rte. 29 to Lakeport which had a Safeway, CVS, bank and other stores right off the exit. I cannot say enough about this lovely little Inn, and want to thank all the staff for their kindness which made our stay so pleasant.

I looked out the bathroom window and saw a woman in her tub Im sure she had some expectations of privacy. if not for the noise I would not have been curious and looked I thought it might have been the ghetto yard behind

- kaylinMD (8/5): Nice hotel with lovely period furnishings - This is a lovingly restored hotel with interesting period furnishings. My room had a lovely clawfoot tub and I quite enjoyed sitting on the balcony catching the evening breeze. We enjoyed an excellent dinner at the Blue Wing cafe in the courtyard. The only negative was breakfast, which is noted as being Continental. That would be fine, but at there were some odd pastries with an egg on top that were cold - as if they had been removed from the refrigerator but had not yet reached room temperature. Definitely unappetizing. There were packaged yogurts with some fresh fruit and granola, and excellent coffee. I did not see breakfast room staff while I was there - suspect the front desk was doing double duty. My second morning I skipped breakfast and walked down the street to the great coffee shop that has good breakfast sandwiches, pastries, and coffee. Other than breakfast, it was a lovely stay.

- KristieGosh (10/5): Where Heritage and vibe are perfection. - A hidden gem for sure and definitely the best hotel in either Upper Lake or Clear Lake. The Tallman is an incredible recreation of late 1800s served with a contemporary vibe. Perfect in every way. The music and gardens are magical. Blue Wing Saloon next door (connected by the garden) is a definite highlight and they even have a swimming pool and hot tub!
- Theresa (10/5): Exceptional - The hotel was beautiful and luxurious in its historical decor as well as ultra modern amenities. From the linens to the bathroom to the drapes to the 2nd floor porch overlooking the garden and its alfresco dining area. Such a wonderfully unexpected gem after a long drive from Lake Tahoe. Wish we could have stayed longer. Even the Continental breakfast was a treat. Delicious and served on fine china. Being elderly, wish there was an elevator for the luggage.
- lucim2014 (8/5): Make time to soak - That Japanese soaking tub MADE my experience. It seemed the perfect temperature (thanks to the heater and bubblewrap cover). I enjoyed the outdoor shower and soaked away my fatigue after each of my busy workdays and it helped me drift off to sleep easily. I especially enjoyed the moments when I could soak in it without overhearing other visitors or the musicians from the restaurant. I wonder if there's another tub further away from the scene that I might book next time?

- A5796SYmikec (10/5): Peaceful Oasis - Located prominently on Main Street, the Tallman Hotel is a five star oasis in historic Upper Lake, CA. The hotel and neighboring Blue Wing restaurant are shining examples of country class. We went up last Sunday for brunch and an evening away from the SF Bay Area. It was delightful. Our brunch under the cool shade trees in the lush garden consisted of coffee, veggie omelet, grits and greens. (I went with the grits and greens, oh yea.) The staff was cheerful, polite and attentive. a talented trio of musicians serenaded a full house of relaxed diners. Our room was spacious, immaculate and well appointed. We enjoyed the coolness of the swimming pool during the day and at night looked up at the stars from our rooms outdoor Japanese soaking tub. The entire experience was a lasting delight. We will be back.

The rooms: decor, size, bed size + comfort, bathroom (shower & bath) etc were all superb, and certainly our favourite accommodation so far whilst touring the West Coast USA. The staff is wonderful, the rooms are super clean and beautiful, the beds comfy. Upper Lake is a charming little town and this hotel is the gem in its crown.
