It was not clean in the bathroom, when we arrived there were hairs in the bath and on the floor. The walls are very old and have a lot of stains. And I noticed some mold. That was not very comfortable.

We were very pleased that we stayed in a Japanese style - We stayed in a suite room with a small onsen which was fantastic. It was a wonderful experience for us to stay in Japanese style accommodation and the outdoor areas were a highlight. The private onsen we hired was clean and well maintained. The hotel had very good facilities and is very modern. The shuttle bus to and from the train station was a nice touch. The property itself was very good, but the location was somewhat remote. Whilst there was a Lawsons nearby we went for a walk to find a restaurant and struggled to find any that were open.

- tamae (5/5): 予感の方々の対応がとてもよかったのに、お風呂と食事と言う。1番大事な部分がいまいちでがっかりしました。 - 和太鼓のショーはかなり見応えがあり、素晴らしかったです。 ホテルの方々の対応は素晴らしいです。 バリアフリーが全くなく、お菓子と飲み物のロビーも階段で誰もが使える場所ではなかった。 脱衣室が2階にあり、服をぬいでから石の滑る階段を10段以上下りる必要があった。その注意が旅館の案内に明記されていなかったため、足の悪い親が温泉に入るのに躊躇していた。 食事が値段に対しイマイチであった。特に夜のお鍋のしょっぱさや、朝ごはんのおをに味噌をといただけのような味噌汁はびっくりした。本当に板前がいる料理だったのだろうか。

- Przemyslaw (8/5): Fun first experience with a ryokan: the baths were great but the food disappointed - It's a very, very big ryokan with plenty of public and private onsens to choose from. The baths themselves are pretty well-kept and a good experience. They don't look as nice as the pictures would suggest, but they're still a great place to relax, and especially the open-air ones are very vibey with the snow outside. Our first experience with a ryokan, and I think it was worth it. You have to be prepared for the food to be a step outside of your comfort zone, and it might not be for you. We consider ourselves pretty adventurous eaters, happy to try pretty much anything, and open to new flavors. We also loved all the other food in Japan. But the traditional kaiseki dinner here was a disappointment. The food was plated very aesthetically, and there were a lot of unusual ingredients that we hadn't seen anywhere else in Japan, but, unfortunately, everything was very, very bland and just not good. I understand that the whole concept of this type of dining is to turn it all into art and let the ingredients themselves shine, but, well, I can appreciate the concept but dislike the food. The hotel also definitely feels very dated and is very, very old-school in terms of the interactions with the staff, check-in experience, and things like that. It's not necessarily a big deal, but be prepared for a bit of cultural shock.

- Gary (9/5): Authentic ryokan with private onsens - Free shuttle to and from the lodge to Kagaonsen station at select times. Friendly and attentive staff that speak limited English but go out of their way to help. This building is on the older side but is well maintained and has its own charm. Private onsen rooms available to rent for a fee and free public onsen both indoors and outdoors. Come here for a more local ryokan experience with great Japanese hospitality.

- Phi (7/5): Quiet, relaxing stay. Sleeping well after a good soak in the hotspring bath. - I may stay again, I would recommend to others. Like all onsen town ryokans, we enjoyed our quiet down time, feeling comfortable in the provided yukatas and zoris. The best part of our stay was the room and the property, super quiet great for a relaxing stay, our standard double room is very large with a sitting area and separate sleeping area. The foot bath was good for a quiet rest, we slept so well in the large queen-size beds after a good soak in the private hot spring bath. A note that things, while being very well appointed and very clean, the hotel itself seemed very old and tired, like it's past it's prime, and some may find the atmostphere a tad depressing. The lounge has plenty of very comfortable seatings for guests to quietly enjoy the few free snacks. Coffee, tea, and softdrinks are available 24 hours. The Japanese breakfast buffet was good with a variety of Japanese dishes, in the large dining hall with some private seatings, such excellent quiet relaxing morning time. Quite lacking as far as Western food choices, some bacon, some pastries, and very poorly-made runny scramble eggs. Perhaps the aim is more directed at Japanese visitors. Also the attempt to provide some English was half-hearted at best, a few items had English descriptions, most did not. Did not bother us as we are familiar with all sorts of Japanese food, I speak some Japanese, and have been to Japan quite a few times, but non-Japanese first-timers or those with limited Japan experience may find things a bit frustrating. More on the hotel staff and our check-in below, but the front-desk staff are helpful in general. On our check-out day, an efficient and very pretty young lady attended to us, then she went outside, waited, bowed and waved as our shuttle was departing, such gestures of Japanese manners that we take for granted, and I regret that I did not make a note of her name earlier. Upon checking in, we were assigned a seemingly South-Asian attendant, perhaps because we are non-Japanese, and perhaps she's supposed to speak English. Her English was poor, and very lacking as a greeting hostess. She could barely explained the hotel amenities, very briefly mentioned the baths, the souvenir shop, the lounge, etc. I could understand only half of what she said and had to ask her to repeat several times. Would have worked so much better with a Japanese-speaking hostess with an electronic translator but a warmer and more cheerful demeanor. We had a quick late supper at the hotel ramen shop and sadly the quality was poor. Without many dinner places nearby, it would have been good to have a few more choices in the hotel. I did not book the dinner option with the room as this was our first time to this area. The nightly drum show was uninteresting, a few guys wearing face masks beating one single drum for a few minutes, not exactly a real and exciting Taiko performance.

- Summer (8/5): - 連泊でお部屋のアップグレードをしていただきました。素敵な部屋風呂があるお部屋で朝の入浴をのんびりとても気持ちよくできました。大浴場の外風呂もとても良かったです。高校生のころから日本語を勉強していますという中国からのスタッフのかたがいてニコニコとても親切に案内していただきました。ラウンジでのお菓子ビュッフェとドリンクサービス、朝食ビュッフェもとても美味しく、素敵な中庭での足浴とたいこショーのサービスがありリラックスした楽しい滞在となりました。 歴史ある古いお宿なので、室内が少し古い印象で、床が畳の下でちょっとぼこぼこした感じだったのと、おふとんがもっとふかふかだったら良かったかなと思います。

- MATSUMOTO (5/5): お風呂は良かったのですが‥ - お風呂が大きくてゆったりできた 部屋に案内された時既に布団が敷かれていてわざわざ畳んでテーブルを配置し直した。朝食を食べたホールの空調が効きすぎて寒かった。ビュッフェで並ぶ時間が長かった。
- NAMIKI (9/5): - お部屋がリニューアルされており、 とても広く清潔で、いつも旅先で鼻炎になりやすい娘がこちらでは朝までぐっすり眠っていました。スタッフの方の対応もよくこちらの質問にも丁寧に応えてくださいました。 女性用露天風呂の天井にとても大きなクモの巣とクモがいて、それだけが唯一気になりましたが、それ以外は大変良かった。
- Takeshi Kubo (9/5): 良かったです。 - 朝食がとてもよかった。窯ご飯は最高でした。食べきれない量でした。 外国人女性のスタッフでした。とても丁寧な方でしたが、下足をわざわざ部屋ドアの外で脱ぎ、そのまま畳の部屋に入られてました。下足は下足場で脱いでください、部屋清潔度が落ちる旨説明させて頂きましたが、理解できなかったようです。

- ETSUMI (6/5): とても満足感のある旅館でした。 - 24時間温泉に入れるのが良かった。露天風呂も落ちた雰囲気で大変良かった。別申込で朝食をお願いしましたが、ブュッフェ方式でいろんな種類があってとても満足する朝食でした。 男物のゆかたが2Lまでしかなく、3Lがほしかったです？

- HIROE (10/5): やっぱり温泉旅館は素晴らしい！と実感させてくれるお宿です！ - THE旅館ですが、対応スムーズ、お部屋は広々、温泉も24時間OK、フリードリンクサービスありで、時代にあったアップデートがされていました！ 葉渡莉のお風呂にも入浴できて、プチ湯めぐり楽しかったです！ 何より天井が高く広々としていて、調度品もとても贅沢でした。

- Man Wing, Ellen (8/5): A very relaxing trip. - My room is spacious and comfortable. Breakfast and dinner (included) are both good. We didn’t use the public onsen because of our tattoos. Private onsen is not bad though.

- Tanatip (8/5): Nice clean, spacious room and great onsen time ^^ - The room is really spacious and everyone love Onsen. Service is good, all staffs were really friendly. Everything was clean and at the best. We choose option keiseki for dinner accidentally. I love it but the kids not. For my toddler there is no meal so I need to order separately (I am fine with that) but most of the items have to wait at least 30 minutes that’s unacceptable no choice left. (Why didn’t ask us to order ahead of time at the check in, I have no idea. Breakfast is good I love it. But choices is small.

- 金児 (7/5): まあまあ - お風呂がよかった。 寒かった。 部屋の温度調節ができず父たち（80代）が軽い風邪をひいた。 お願いしなかったが食事は個室がよかった。
