- Beate (8/5): Lage und Blick top ! Sauberkeit hat Luft nach oben - Super schönes Haus in toller Lage und wunderschönem Blick- mit Waschmaschine( allerdings kein Trockner). Supermarkt im Ort . Für eine Nacht war es perfekt für uns. Das Haus war schon sehr runtergelebt- sehr schade eigentlich. Treppe und Nachttische sehr in die Jahre gekommen. Sauberkeit ? - nur eher oberflächlich gereinigt . Bad oben war sauber und auch neuer, aber Spinnweben am Fenster - im Bad unten sind die Fugen schwarz . Für den Preis finde ich , sollte das so nicht sein

Considering the cost we thought the fittings were a little tried, beds and bed linen need improving. The second bedroom is very small and only has a double bed with very limited space to access.

- Lee (3/5): Beautiful location and concept let down through inattention to detail. - Location was superb, as were the build design and views. On attending, we were unable to access the property via the keypad and were unable to reach the owner for approximately one hour to resolve. The owner was more focused on an error in information from Booking. Com than us as the customers. Regardless of the error in Booking.com, the keypad was also faulty and we had to gain entry via another method. The property was below the standard of cleaning one would expect of a property like this - with the views a major drawcard window cleaning needs to be upgraded and thorough. The internal kitchen drawers and cupboards were visibly unclean. A wonderful large coffee machine - with no instructions hence unable to use. Spa bath - didn’t spa, and the motor wouldn’t turn off and ended up setting off loud noise that woke neighbours and also set off smell of burning electrics. On contacting the owner, there was nil expressed concern for safety of occupants, nor did owner attend nor offer alternative to staying there other than suggesting to open the window to let the smell out and advising the exact same thing had happened to the other apartment. As occupants, we had to work out how to find the power box and problem solve something that woke us up in the middle of the night. There felt no support nor concerns from the owner, and as mentioned, did not attend or organise anyone to attend to check electrical safety. The upstairs main shower was tepid at best, and had to shower downstairs. The towel used downstairs had a spider in it. The fitted sheet to downstairs bed had a patch approximately 10cm square worn through - with minimal threads holding it from being a hole, and appeared crinkled as though someone had been laying on it. The owner did reimburse the accommodation fee- not by initiation on her part, but rather invited us to state what we were willing to pay. The request for full refund was accepted without issue and reimbursed promptly which was genuinely appreciated.

We enjoyed stargazing at night and were fortunate enough to catch a glimpse of the Southern Lights and even the Milky Way.

The spiral staircase made it tricky to get our suitcases upstairs to the bedroom, so we left them downstairs as it's not very safe carrying big suitcases upstairs. There were no window coverings upstairs in the bedroom. The shower taps were tricky to figure out how they work.

- Janine (10/5): Despite some days of heavy, constant rain keeping us indoors more than we anticipated, we had an enjoyable and comfortab - A beautifully appointed apartment with astounding views over the Macquarie harbour. A short walk into town, to the harbour for cruises, or to shops and cafes. It felt very luxurious with the large upstairs bedroom having an open space bath in the corner of the room, and more beautiful views out to sea. It was very convenient having a laundry but a dryer would have been useful, as a small clothes horse set up in the kitchen under the a/c was the only way to dry clothes over a couple of rainy days. Also a couple of small light tables to move around the living room to put beside various chairs and window seats for glasses and coffee cups would be helpful.

- Jacquelyn (5/5): This property is in an amazing position and the lay out is great but it is in serious need of a refresh to return to wha - The view from this property is absolutely amazing - it is simply outstanding. Unfortunately the property needs a good clean. The window sills had dust and dead flies. The sofa is in need of an upholstery clean to remove the stains. The bed linen needs replacing as it has seen better days and there was evidence that perhaps had not been washed since the last visitors and the mattress certainly needs to be replaced. The other important matter is that the property advertise internet but we were unable throughout our stay to do other than log in to absolutely NO internet - which for us was a crucial point in choosing this particular property.

- MARTIN (1/5): Main bedroom not fit for purpose - This property is trading on it's floor to ceiling windows giving fabulous views over the estuary. It has an amazing master bedroom also with glorious views. The apartment is within an easy walk of the village and jetty. There are no window coverings on the huge picture windows in the main bedroom and there are no blinds on the skylight either so it is not possible to create any kind of darkness in order to have a decent nights sleep. We woke at 4:45am and 5:05am respectively on the two nights we stayed there. On arrival I rang the owner to complain and she said there was nothing she could do about it. It seems obvious to me that if someone is taking money in exchange for somewhere to sleep then the bedrooms should be fit for purpose. If the owners of this property think it is acceptable to skimp on a basic need like this they should AT THE VERY LEAST make it crystal clear in their advertising that it is not possible to make this room dark. Then potential customers can at least make an informed decision. Bespoke blinds could be installed (expensive) or a very simple (cheap) solution would be to supply washable sleep masks in this room. It's not hard to fix this problem so why don't they bother? It is the lack of transparency in the advertising that causes me to rate this apartment so low. It is also tired, the sanitary ware upstairs is in need of an upgrade and the spa bath in the corner doesn't work.

The views were spectacular, self check in, close to Wilderness Train Trip and Gordon River Cruise departure points, IGA Patrick's was close by and had everything and the Thirsty Camel was well stocked with Tassie wines. While we had a number of issues, the communication and help by the owner was exceptional. Some work to be done on the property. May not suit 2 adult couples 2nd bedroom very small with a double bed.

The accommodation, facilities and the addtion of those extras that other places often lack, make for an extremely comfortable stay. The view from the open area, stunning even in bad weather, a proper coffee machine. Lovely. Nothing really. You could stay here for a few days and not need too much.

Apartment is not weatherproof and significant leaks at multiple windows. Towels not great quality and could do with replacing. No dishwasher. Access to upper level with larger suitcase is challenging.

- Flora May Vogeler (7/5): Beautiful view and a good sleep but the property needs a bit of TLC. - Really unique property with a fantastic view of the water from both floors. Convenient location for walking into Strahan. Easy parking right outside the property. Beds were comfortable. Upstairs room was well heated by air con unit on the ground floor. With this property you are paying for the view and unique design of the building. Unfortunately the interior doesn’t match the exterior. The inside is somewhat tired and would benefit from a deep clean and a bit of TLC/maintenance to ensure the surfaces are dust free. It would also benefit from a heater in the downstairs bedroom and curtains or blinds in the main bedroom upstairs as not everyone wants to be woken up at daybreak.

- Douglas (9/5): Fantastic west coast getaway - Incredible view! Comfortable couch. Kitchen facilities were fantastic, coffee machine and effective heating provided. The bath is a great touch! Small things.
The heater makes a clicking noise. The coffee machine needs some adjustment for a better pour. The spa bath didn't work, but could have easily been user error.

That view is one in a million. - The view was absolutely magical, I could have stared at it for hours, comfy couch and seat to lounge in, great coffee machine topped it off. Great selection of pantry staples as well. And more than one tea towel which I loved! Super clean and well kept as well. The only small thing that i noticed was there was a funny noise coming from the upstairs bar fridge.

- Simone (8/5): Still the place to stay in Strahan - This was a return visit to the Wheelhouse for us. Opening the front door to floor to ceiling views of the calm water was just as incredible this time as last. A couple of little details were looked over: the previous people’s half eaten carrots were in the fridge and two cakes of used soap were in the main shower. Not dealbreakers, but the smallest things can have an impact on your stay, especially when your expectations are so high based on a previous experience.
