• Goery (9/5): Super accueil et lieu extraordinaire - Accueil absolument super par Francesca. De très bons conseils pour découvrir l'île. La chambre est top, relativement grande et avec une petit terrasse (vue mer pour la plupart, sur les vignes pour les autres) privative avec un hamac, 2 fauteuils et une petite table. Il y aussi un étendoir à linge, bien pratique pour faire sécher les maillots après la baignade, ou les t-shirts après une journée de rando. Le petit déjeuner se prends sur une terrasse très très agréable avec vue sur mer. Les produits sont bons, il ne faut pas hésiter à demander des choses à Francesca en plus (salé, jus de fruit, yaourt...). L'emplacement de l'hotel est vraiment top ! A deux pas du centre de Malfa et de ses commerces. Par ailleurs Malfa est surement le meilleur endroit pour découvrir Salina : central et bien desservi par les bus. Nous aurions vraiment aimé y rester plus longtemps ! Il aurait pu être un tout petit peu plus facile d'avoir un petit carte avec ce qui était disponible pour le petit déjeuner. Mais c'est un détail qui n'a rien enlevé aux excellents moment que nous avons passé ici !
• Jahn (10/5): - Schöne Unterkunft mit außergewöhnlich herzlicher Gastgeberin – absolute Empfehlung! Wir haben uns hier vom ersten Moment an rundum wohlgefühlt. Die Unterkunft überzeugt nicht nur durch ihre praktische Lage (Supermarkt, Bushaltestelle, Restaurants) und schöne Lage mit Blick auf die Berge, aufs Meer und Weinberge, sondern vor allem durch die Herzlichkeit und Aufmerksamkeit der Gastgeberin. Die Zimmer sind groß, geräumig und sehr sauber. Besonders angenehm fanden wir auch die Sitzmöglichkeiten vor dem Zimmer und sogar eine Hängematte. Die Außenanlage hat uns auch sehr gefallen – alles wirkt sehr liebevoll gestaltet und gepflegt. Hier hatten wir das beste Frühstück auf unserer Rundreise! Sehr lecker und mit viel Aufmerksamkeit begleitet. Francesca erkundigte sich immer wieder freundlich nach weiteren Wünschen und unserem Wohlbefinden. Die gesamte Unterkunft strahlt einen entspannten und herzlichen Charme aus. Wir können diese Unterkunft uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen!

• Jordana (9/5): Rustic and Gorgeous Stay! - Il Gelso is a rustic vacation spot. The staff are kind and helpful. Francesca was a wonderful host and helped us throughout our stay! The room was large, air conditioned and tidy. The beach is a 10 minute walk with many stairs to access. Bring watershoes to navigate the rocks, there are mattresses for rental. It can be difficult to get around the island at times so plan ahead and book a taxi from the ferry/hydrofoil. Plan for a more rustic family stay! Give yourself extra time to get around the island.
• claudine (10/5): Un merveilleux séjour. - Situé dans un cadre magnifique, la chambre très spacieuse avec un lit confortable et une grande terrasse privative avec une très belle vue. Le petit déjeuner excellent et varié est pris sur une terrasse avec une vue exceptionnelle sur la mer et l’environnement. Et puis il y a l’accueil et le gentillesse de Francesca qui prodigue d’excellents conseils. Des bus permettent de visiter facilement l’île. Rien, tout était parfait.

• Elodie (8/5): - C’est toujours un plaisir de revenir au Gelso. Le lieu est fantastique et l’équipe d’accueil adorable. La situation du Gelso dans le village de Malfa est parfaite, à mi chemin entre la plage et les commerces. Je ne peux que le recommander vivement.

The location of this hotel is also perfect - walking distance to everything in Malfa which is essential if you don't have a car or scooter. I wish the hotel replaced bottled water in the rooms each day.

• Tina (10/5): A beautiful island and great accommodation made it a memorable stay. - The room was large, clean, secure and comfortable with a great view over the garden, vineyards and sea. The host was welcoming and friendly, and served us a delicious breakfast in the morning. The terrace upstairs had an even better view of the sea for breakfast and self made aperitifs. The wi fi was poor but then we were on an island.

• Valentino (10/5): Wonderful oasis in picturesque Malfa - Our stay at Il Gelso was delightful. The location was ideal, just a stone's throw away from Punta Scario beach and the centre of Malfa, with a supermarket/ATM/bus stop just a bit further up from there. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with a handy patio area with lounge chairs and a hammock. Breakfast - which itself is a rich affair of sweet delicacies (the sweet ricotta croissants!) - is served on a beautiful terrace with 360° view of the surrounding hills and the sea. But above all it was Paolo (the host) who made the stay truly unforgettable - he went above and beyond to satisfy all our requests. Grazie Paolo!

Each room has a private terrace, ours smelled of jasmine in the evening and it was a delight to be received like this after a full day exploring Salina. Paolo was very helpful, nice and recommended great restaurants to us! It was a pleasure to wake up every morning and to chat about our adventures with him on that breakfast terrace in the morning before heading out. The comfort of the bed for us was quite an issue, we did not sleep very well because of the mattress.. Since we were staying 4 nights that was quite long. For us this was the main issue with this wonderful place! Also note that the internet reception in our room (number 2) was quite bad or inexistent. We only had a good reception on the terrace.

Our room was clean and roomy, we loved the huge terrace off our room. Breakfast could not be faulted, thankyou Paolo for all your help. We highly recommend il Gelso. Nothing
• Valentine (10/5): Amazing stay! - We stayed four nights at Il Geslo Vacanze, Paolo and Gianfranco were really great hosts providing information about buses, maps and help when necessary. The room was great with a magnificent seaview (and a hammock to enjoy the sun). The breakfast on the terrasse were a great way to to start and plan the day ! Overall, a really great stay ! We would recommend it to anyone looking to stay in Salina ! Nothing!

• Krystian (9/5): Relaxing in generous space with very friendly staff and great views - Very friendly and forthcoming staff (even though not everybody spoke EN). Every piece of advice we were given by the host was spot on. It's located very close to the town centre yet still in a quiet location. The hamak with views of either the sea or Monte dei Porri hanging on the generous terrace allowed for great relaxation. It wouldn't hurt to renew the shower head fixture in the room we had.
• Guy (10/5): Really nice - Laid back vibe in lovely location with great views and great proximity to restaurants and town main square and also beautiful beach. Gianfranco and Luciano were both very helpful with advice about travel and places to go and see. The room was a good size with a nice balcony with a great view (including a hammock) and everything worked perfectly. The only thing which I could find fault with would be that the wifi was weak and not adequate if you were going to try to work from there.
• Sarah (10/5): Super friendly and thoroughly enjoyable stay - We had a really wonderful 3-day stay at Il Gelso Vacanze, located in Malfa. It was close to the heart of the village, and also a short walk down some very interesting and safe laneways, past ripe figs, to the local beach (Spiaggia dello Scario (you have to visit!). Giafranco was super helpful, made great breakfasts on the deck, and gave us lots of tips for things to do and see. We couldnt fault our stay. Nothing.
• Paul (10/5): Beautiful location and wonderful host - We truly loved every part of our 10 day stay at Il Gelso. Malfa is a beautiful town and the hotel location was perfect. Il Gelso is a short stroll to the shops, local restaurants and to the beach. Our traditional room was large with a private terrace and had a lovely ocean view. The daily breakfast was delicious and served on the terrace with beautiful views. The room was very clean and serviced daily. We couldn't have wished for anymore. We felt very relaxed and at home here. Gianfranco was a wonderful host; welcoming, friendly, helpful and we will always remember his kindness, it really made our stay. We look forward to returning again and would highly recommend a stay at Il Gelso.
• Michelle (10/5): I visited the island of Salina / Malfa , because I wanted to see where my Nonna grew up & it made me very happy - The property was located in a beautiful area in Malfa , the service was excellent , Gianfranco was a great host was very helpful & he organised taxis fir me & made wonderful breakfast , was very welcoming , especially because my Italian was very bad . I highly recommend this accommodation & great local restaurants , very close by .

• Darren (10/5): Beautiful location, lovely host - The accommodation in a beautiful spot in Malfa, close to the beach and town. The view from the breakfast deck was beautiful. Also, I was unwell when we were meant to checkout and Gianfranco very kindly let us use the room for half a day and helped us with transportation. He was always on hand to help with anything we needed and made our stay.

We had the island to ourselves by going before peak season began. - Gianfranco served us a lovely and sweet breakfast every morning with an exceedingly beautiful view of the ocean ahead and the island's volcanoes, vineyards and flora behind. • Barbara (10/5): Lovely! - This was a lovely place to stay in the beautiful, quiet village of Malfa on Salina. Quaint antique touches in the spacious room and the large sunny patio with hammock and a great view of the ocean below made us feel like we were at a summer cottage. GianFranco, the manager, was incredibly sweet and gracious. A very pleasant place to unwind and unplug, and within walking distance to the bus, several restaurants, and the small local piazza. Malfa was the perfect antidote to Taormina, which seemed a bit crowded and chichi to us. The wifi was spotty, but I expect it may be everywhere on Salina, as the satellite data was as well. Luckily, this is a beautiful, secluded spot where you sure don’t need it.

• Anders (10/5): This is a very relaxing place with huge individual terraces for each room. - Normally they only serve a light sweet breakfast, but we asked for a salty breakfast and it was fine.

• Vitaliano (8/5): Tranquillo relax - In ottima posizione a pochi passi dal centro di Malfa, eppure eppure "isolato", in posizione sopraelevata con vista sul mare. Le camere, ognuna come un piccolo edificio a sè stante, collegate da vialetti fioriti, climatizzate, sono larghe e con terrazzina che si affaccia sul mare. Il titolare Gianfranco è cortese, simpatico, disponibile. Una colazione un pò più varia avrebbe significato la perfezione.
