- Nelson (8/5): A great base for visitors. - The lady on Reception was delightful, she explained which buses to use, directions to restaurants etc. It made our visit to Liverpool much easier. The buffet breakfast covered everything from cereals, continental and traditional. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. As it was extremely cold and wet during our stay, the room was a little chilly. However the room was comfortable and very clean.
- Jonathan (8/5): Great location for university, nice staff - Great location for university, nice staff
- Henderson (10/5): -
- Jane (8/5): - Very good customer service with friendly staff. The continental breakfast had a wide choice of foods and was very generous. The cleanliness of the room and facilities was excellent. A great value for money place to stay - warm, comfortable, spotlessly clean, with welcoming staff and well located for the city centre with a good bus service from right outside the hotel. And also great location for walks in lovely parks - Sefton Park and Princes Park. Would definitely stay there again. Thank you! The coffee could have been hotter! The over bed lights could do with re-positioning or changing.
- Martin (9/5): Worth a stay - Friendly staff. Comfortable beds. Good value for money Would have liked a English breakfast, but realise the price would have to change

- Sammie B (6/5): DON'T PAY FOR BREAKFAST SHOCKING - Room was a nice size. Location to what I needed was great. Plenty of buses into town. Topped up your tea and coffee. Would only stay due to its location. Cleanish but not to a high standard.
Bed comfy No bath sheet ,towel not big enough to go around you
No hairdryer or shower cap
No gates to prevent people going into the carpark especially if you are on the ground floor because you can't have your window open at night
Curtains didn't shut properly
BREAKFAST FOR CONTINENTAL WAS SHOCKING
CHEAP AND NASTY PRODUCTS
BREAD WAS WET
CHEAP TESCO DECAF COFFEE
CHEAP TEA BAGS
FOOD NOT LABELED AND COVERED
JUICES WAS A GUESSING GAME
HAD TO REMOVE YOUR PLATES FROM TABLE
STAFF DIDN'T INTERACT WITH RESIDENTS
I ended up paying at Greg's just to get a decent sandwich.
hole in the chair in the room
Pool table had a hole in it
Dust in high places in the room
Felt unsafe being on the ground floor because if I wouldn't have checked the window, it would of been unlocked during my stay.
Bad scratches on floor in room
Bedside table unstable

- Vitor (5/5): -
- Emma (3/5): Poor - Unfriendly staff, poor communication. Car park is very small so cars end up blocked in, staff uninterested. Would not stay here again
- Katy (7/5): Great location - The breakfast was good value for the price we paid, great location for Sefton park and Lark lane Bed was uncomfortable, room felt chilly, hotel was a bit tired, but I would say it was appropriate value for money
- Georgina (8/5): Pleasant - Breakfast was good, lovely room The fact that there was a £50 charge that they hold on to for 31 days , I knew there would be a deposit as it mentions that on booking.com, but I didn't expect they insist I use my visa debit for it and not my credit card , that seems excessive amount of time, to wait. And I don't know why they would have to do this. some of the grout on the tiles in the shower and the shower hose were really filthy and black, a blast of mould and mildew remover would have taken care of that, otherwise I would have given this a 10/10 score it is a lovely hotel
- Michael (10/5): - Clean and comfortable excellent staff
- BMG (8/5): The Mountford Hotel is a welcoming, older style hotel giving you good value for the money paid. - The staff were all most welcoming, friendly and extremely helpful - Muna, John and George are the folk we spoke to at length.
The room was clean and well presented with a tv, basic tea and coffee making facilities. The beds were remade beautifully for the next night and with sufficiently firm mattresses to give a good night's sleep.
The bathroom was HUGE and spotlessly clean with a had towel and standard size bath towel provided. Towels could be left or replaced as necessary, in order to save water which we agree is good.
The continental style breakfast was good, with sufficient variety although nothing was freshly baked and that would have been a big plus. One curtain was hanging off the hook and we couldn't reach to fix it. The curtains are thermal and lined to keep out the cold and the daylight but being floor length, they completely cover the radiator so the heat goes out through the glass of the windows which is not ideal for heating the room nor for economic efficiency.
The neighbour's security light went on and off all night long which was OK so long as the curtains were tightly closed and we turned one of the bathroom spotlights away from pointing through the door straight onto the pillow of one of the beds!
The bedside light had a bulb out but when we tightened the bulb, which made it work, the fitting almost fell out of the base on the wall! This same light couldn't be turned so where the bed went into a recess in the wall, the light couldn't reach which made reading in bed tricky!
There were 3 pillows so we asked for a fourth.
The toiletries were basic - a bottle of hand soap at the sink and a bottle of shower gel.
It was lovely to have super warm towels but the little towel rail was so close over the radiator that the heat didn't really get out into the bathroom. Perhaps the rail could be a little higher and two rails would be better for four towels?
Having said all this, these are minor necessary adjustments and did not spoil our stay or our sleep.
- David (10/5): -
- Steve (10/5): Perfect for attending a gig in Liverpool - Great location Not full English breakfast but continental breakfast was good
- Dominique (8/5): - Excellent location N/A
- Katarzyna (1/5): Avoid at all costs! I so regret falling for a photos on booking.com and price! - Absolutely nothing, I was actually going to pack bags in middle of night and leave. Only for my little girl that was fas asleep I stayed, but I got no sleep Room full of dust, hair (pubs) in drawer. Rug not vacuum cleaned. Badly stained mattress and duvet. No mattress protectors. Damaged items in room ( bedside lamp, wallpaper ripped, stains on ceiling with prove that water leaked to ceiling light so electrical cables are possibly affected and that’s dangerous)
Bathroom mirror shelf broken not replaced, tap broken, leak stains on ceiling too.
Old wood windows single glazed so u can hear all traffic on road and hotel is located just beside a very busy main road.
We had two single beds with single duvets, I had to call reception ask for double duvet as I could cover myself up sit one I had, I was told they have no spare blankets! I told them duvet is actually dirty and yet again was told there is nothing they can do.
I booked another hotel to move first thing in morning!
Next day we went for a breakfast (continental) pastry is from multiple pack you can get on Tesco, decaf instant coffee it is actually from Tesco, apples and clementines look like a ones from value shelf of supermarket (small and tasty awful) Worst was a fact that what I presume was a chicken ham wasn’t fresh I toke a bite and tastes sour, I smell it and it was bad. Staff rectified it quickly after I told them.
I told receptionist about all and did not even apologize, he said he is not going to fix it no point to show him photos of defects.
- Nadir (8/5): Çok iyi - Temiz düzenli ilgili Yatak kalitesi
- Jose (5/5): - The place where hotel is Comfort
Heater
- Jane (10/5): -
- Kirsty (4/5): Wont rush back but better than the pavement - Most of the staff were really helpful Advertises free parking, however when we pulled in I asked the member of staff who greeted us and he said there wasn’t. He then went round the back and told us to park up to the rear of the building half in a bush as the 4 spaces they do have weren’t available.
The room was spacious which was nice, (I booked a superior double), however very dusty and generally not clean or well presented.
Breakfast included is continental which we didn’t know, and it was awful to say the least. I didn’t dare touch them but my friend got 2 boiled eggs on toast, one was raw and one was rock solid (over cooked).
The chairs in the dining room downstairs where breakfast is served were mouldy. Mould on walls too down there.
Also expect to pay a £50 refundable deposit on card upon arrival, as this wasn’t disclosed when we booked.
For £160 for the night booked 6 months in advance, overall the room wasn’t worth the price. Wouldn’t rush back here but better than sleeping on the street.
- Hannah (8/5): -
- Martin (5/5): -
- Olivia (9/5): - Friendly staff Everything was great possibly a little bit more choice at breakfast then would be great
- jonathan (7/5): Clean comfy value for money - Clean comfy room
- Ashley (6/5): - The bed needs a new mattress we both rolled into the middle it was that old and worn
- Steve (5/5): - Excellent service from the staff, very informative I prefer a cooked breakfast, however there was nothing missing from the continental breakfast, more than enough.
The building must have been magnificent in its day but getting a little tired.

- Helen (8/5): Very adequate clean room, friendly staff and a lovely hotel. Would definitely stay there again. - Basic but very nice room just for the one night. Free parking is a big bonus! Would prefer a cooked breakfast but there were plenty of other items to have, including toast, hard boiled eggs, fruit and cheese.
- Clive (8/5): Would stay again - Location, space Room light switch not in actual room and bedside light incredibly dim
- Stephen (10/5): - This hotel was great for the price
We will use it everytime we visit liverpool
- Laura (7/5): -
- hana (1/5): I would not stay again - There was a pool table, it was ripped but still playable. The woman on reception was friendly. I was very disappointed with my stay. The beds were extremely uncomfortable, despite being only 50kg, I still rolled into the middle due to the noticeable dip in the old, low-quality mattress.
The condition of the room was also poor. There was mould visible in several areas, wallpaper peeling off the walls, and the curtains were partially broken and hanging off the pole.
Breakfast was equally disappointing. There were no hot options available, and the food looked stale, as if it had been sitting out for several days. The seating area was partially closed off and appeared very tired and neglected.
Additionally, the front door is kept locked at all times, requiring guests to ring a bell and wait to be let in, which created an uneasy and unwelcoming atmosphere.
- Fay (7/5): Mixed review - I thought the staff were lovely and it had a sweet little bar. The vodka and tonics were very good. It was well situated and not too expensive in an Uber to the city center (£8), very close to lark lane too. Very limited parking spaces, but there was free parking on the road side. Room was warm and there was plenty of hot water. The rooms were very outdated and dusty in areas. A number of the fixture and fittings were broken. It just felt a bit "spooky"
The breakfast wasn't great, but was sufficient to keep you going until lunch. Cereals, toast, porridge, cold meats and boiled eggs. There was some fruit too and yoghurt.
- lorraine (7/5): Satisfactory - Reception were helpful and friendly except for the older man on the night shift. Bed was comfortable and the room and hotel in general was clean.
Nice area and Sefton park nearby, Penny Lane and Festival Gardens all walking distance Towel rail was broken. Breakfast was not worth getting up early on your holidays for.
- Gary (8/5): -
- Luca (8/5): -
- David Cairns (6/5): Weekend in Liverpool - The hotel is well situated on a bus route, with bus stops outside the hotel. The hotel was basic but comfortable and clean. The room and decor is very dated and in need of a bit of a fresh up and redecorating
- Susan (8/5): Weekend break to Liverpool. - Continental breakfast good. Free parking. Easy access to bus stops & routes to center. Close to Sefton park. Staff friendly & helpful. Lift to upper floors.
- Ivan (9/5): Very pleasant and convenient hotel. - Warm, clean and quiet room conveniently located on ground floor and very good choice of food at breakfast. The cost of stay was also very reasonable. Hot drinks available in the rooms. Bedroom window curtains were difficult to fully close.
- Makenzie (8/5): -
- terry (1/5): not enjoyable, - brekkie ok, but in basement
Virginia no health/safety facilities at Hotel entrance/exit,or in room
NO PLUG IN BATHROOM-Apparently as a guest had caused a flood with filling bath, then every guest is the same!!!
We even offered to buy our own plug, but,Hotel would refute its use ,we were told by receptionist.
Without plug, bath should have been removed and made into a Wet Room instead.
Payment in full was requested before we saw room.If we had seen room before payment then we would have looked for another Hotel
£50 Deposit requested towards damages, which is returned within 30 days of departure. We have yet to have refund.
During very windy days/nights,widows were rattling, as it appeared that the frames were not strong enough to hold windows, and we were worried we might be covered in glass, due to loose window panes
Many do's and don't's messages around Hotel.
No hairdryer in room, which had to be requested from reception
- Paul (10/5): -
- Sarah (2/5): Very dissatisfied - Nothing Room was run down as was all the hotel I'll never stay there again or recommend it to anyone far to expensive for what you got
- jamie (7/5): -
- Chris (9/5): Saturday night stay - The hotel was clean and comfortable with helpful staff
- Farnaz (8/5): A pleasant and comfortable stay. - Clean, comfortable, and good location. Friendly staff. Nothing significant.
- Roberts (7/5): -
- Cheryl (9/5): -
- Fisher-Eaves (7/5): -
- Debbie (7/5): - Location Room we stayed in was a little dark but it wasn’t really an issue as we were out for evening so literally only slept there. Perfectly Adequate for our needs.
- Lisa (2/5): Only just acceptable - Very intrusive, copy of driving licence and £50 deposit taken even though room paid for in full in advance!
- Onur (6/5): -
- Mark (8/5): - Clean & friendly staff Could not fault the establishment
- Marlena (10/5): Good enough for a reasonable price - Quiet area, very nice people, parking space available, breakfast was good enough, check in quick , sheets clean, sleeping very good without any noise Far from Anfield stadium but bus available on the corner, breakfast should have longer slots then 8:30 , mugs should be bigger for making cuppa
- Dominique (8/5): - The staff were all very kind and helpful
Location perfect for my needs
- Jemma (6/5): Could you say me If my deposite on my credit card -
- Rebecca (2/5): Won't be back - The location Rock hard bed. One very flat, stained pillow. Sellotape over cracks in the window. The breakfast room needs a good clean.
- Gary (7/5): - Good location. Complicated checking in.
Very limited parking at the hotel.
Some basic fittings damaged or in need of replacement or repair.
- Julie (5/5): - It was clean for what we paid. Breakfast was good but the staff wasn't really friendly and got the impression he didn't really want to be there . The bathroom was lovely .I would stay again if i visit Liverpool again but would definitely have a room at the back of the hotel . When we came the lady at reception wasn't very friendly, but was dealing with unhappy customer at the same time. The room needs sound proofing no way could i sleep with the traffic and shouting outside also with one pillow not enough had to put towels underneath. One towel had makeup stains all on it.
- Daniel (7/5): Good hotel, comfortable room. - Good location for Sefton Park, room was very comfortable & clean & a good sized bathroom. Breakfast was underwhelming.

- Sarah (9/5): - A beautiful period building, beautifully decorated. The staff were lovely, so helpful. The location was perfect, buses a short journey to the airport and city centre, right outside the door! The beautiful Sefton Park beside the hotel. We didn't have time for breakfast on our first day but really enjoyed it on our second day, a wide variety and delicious! Had a wonderful stay! Thank you so much!
- conor (5/5): - Location was great Very outdated and could hear other guests talking a lot
- bethany (10/5): Great place - Lovely lady at reception, fab facilities, cheap bar with a pool table.
- Becky (9/5): Great location, lovely and clean - Nice room, parking available. Comfortable bed. Lovely bathroom which we thought initially was a wardrobe. No plug for bath.
- lucy (5/5): - The neatness No fridge in the room.
- Przemysław (3/5): Kiepski, zużyty, bardzo głośny - Przyzwoite śniadanie kontynentalne Długie oczekiwanie na check-in.
Brak ciepłej wody ok. 9:00 rano.
Stare, zużyte wyposażenie i meble.
- Khai (10/5): -

- John (10/5): - Everything
- Renee (8/5): Goede locatie, vriendelijk personeel - Zeer vriendelijk personeel, ontvangst 's avonds laat was mogelijk.
Zie hierboven
- Amedeo (10/5): - Very good location, excellent quality price ratio Breakfast wasn't great
- Caroline (7/5): Pleasant hotel near Sefton Park - Great location, spacious room very clean & welcoming staff - good variety at breakfast too Rooms alittle tired but overall vg value
- Otoole (6/5): Cheap and quite cheerful - Very good staff and nice welcome Cold room and v poor breakfast
- Martin (8/5): On the whole we were happy with our stay - The breakfast was very good and we all enjoyed it. The greeting and registration from the staff member was also very good. Our room was up to standard with comfortable beds. The bath did not have a bath plug and when I mentioned it when we left I was told "We do not supply them". This meant when I returned late at night looking forward to a nice soak I could only have a shower.
- Geoffrey (7/5): -
- Beverley (7/5): - Cleanliness and very professional staff. The room too small.
- Neil (6/5): Overnight stay - The room was spacious We were put in a room that was quite clearly for a disabled guest, there were two other guests that were elderly and commented re the stairs so more appropriate for them. The rooms were cold unless heating was on which wasn’t scheduled until 7pm as it was cold it was out on at 5pm.
