Guest Reviews
- Alan (2/5): Money Grabbing - Stay Away! - Ines led us to a restaurant with a nice view after we've arrived and the charge for food was 30 soles. The trout was fresh and tasted good but a significant increase to what I have gathered from my research (20 soles for the same meal). At the homestay facility the lock of our room did not work. There is no light in the washroom and there appears to be faeces on the top of the garbage bin.
Dinner costed 20 soles which is quite expensive for vegetable stew with rice. I managed to finish the dish but none of the other visitors finished theirs. At that time I was joking with my fiancé that Ines is thinking like a businessperson and tried to maximize her profit by lowering the cost and quality of the meal.
The experience that gave us a very bad taste was at the morning after. As we have an early afternoon flight at Juliana I booked a private boat with a tour operator departing the island at 7am. This was communicated to Ines prior to the trip so she was fully aware. She knocked on our door at 6am saying that since it was election day, no boat is leaving until 8:45am. It was through many arguments and confusions that we decided to not take her advice and rushed to the port ourselves. At the port we had no issues and the boat left on time. It is my guess that she was trying to arrange another boat for us so that she can make more money regardless of the trouble that it may cause us.
Generally it was a terrible experience and I would recommend anyone to stay away.
