Brenda (10/5): - The property was very nice, the only thing that I didn’t like was that on the weekends it was loud because of the music coming from the rooftop bar.
Shane (2/5): TRASH HOTEL!!! - This was hands down the worst hotel experience of my life and I use to travel to small towns for work all the time. Music was playing so loud till 1am it sounded like the DJ was in our room. It was dirty. The service was horrible. The establishment was trashy. I can’t say enough bad things about this place. Do yourself a favor and pay the extra few bucks at one of the neighboring hotels.

Michiyo (6/5): Very loud, unable to sleep - The room was small and the wall was so thin. We could hear other people using bathroom or having conversations from other rooms. Also, music from the rooftop bar was very loud and it was hard to sleep.
Melanie (10/5): Comfortable and clean with a perfect location - We really loved staying at this hotel and I would stay there again if I come back to LA. The location was perfect, with a subway station just an 11 minutes walk away. It is a big city, but I felt safe. The staff was super nice, including the ones at the breakfast restaurant (which was super tasty). The room and bathroom was clean and the bed and pillow were amazingly comfortable. There are a rooftop restaurant/bar and you can hear some far away music, but for us it was not an issue at all.

The bar was the reason I booked this hotel, also because it was featured on “Nobody Wants This”. Great walkable location to numerous bars, restaurants and dispensaries!
Laura (2/5): - Not what i expected. The hotel it kind of run down we took this little elevator to the fifth floor that seemed like it was about to give out. Scariest elevator ever. The room looks nothing as described. Only gave us two towels and one roll of toilet paper. Only one ice machine on the third floor. The rooftop was closed the restaurant was closed there is no room service. And to top it off i was bit by something on my leg and will be going to urgent care to have it checked out because it’s now a huge and super hot. Definitely do not stay here. We always stay at the hotel next door which is always great and decided to try this hotel.

Roshelle Han (10/5): - It was a great location for a last minute event that I had to go to. It was a bit loud but I signed up for a hotel that has a great nightlife and on a rooftop. They ended at 2am which is usually when I fall asleep. So it's tolerable. The room was really nice and clean. Did not smell any smok unlike other non-smoking hotels that are located in downtown areas. The valet was convenient but I just hoped it did not cost that much. Overall, highly recommend!

Lorraine (10/5): Hollywood! - This is one of my favorite places in Hollywood for food and entertainment and now I love it as a hotel. The decor, service, and atmosphere are amazing.
Kevin (6/5): - Think of this as an elevated youth hostel. The rooms have an eclectic, Hollywood inspired decor. The property though is showing signs of wear, with the slowest lift known to man, and some dingy corridors. Housecleaning forgot to clean the rooms; the service is passable at best (though to the credit of the property they did follow up very quickly when notified of shortfalls). The destination fee is a joke and needs to be removed. If you’re looking for a functional “base”, it does offer good value for the area.
Alfredo (4/5): - I will first say what I liked about this hotel 1. It's very well located, close to Hollywood Blvd, making it a good spot to visit touristic sites 2. The room was small but quite nice. Now onto what I didn't like about it 1. The hotel has an open air club in its rooftop that blasts music at full volume until late at night. We stayed in the second floor, which is the floor farthest from the club and the music was still very loud until really late (2 AM) which made sleeping very hard. I'm a very heavy sleeper, even sleeping through fire alarms with no problem and even I had a hard time with this. If you're a normal or light sleeper there's no way I'd recommend this hotel for you. 2. The entrance to the hotel at nights is full of people going to the club, with the hotel's lobby (which is small) really crowded due to this 3. The outside of the hotel full of people smoking. 4. The restaurant in the hotel is too expensive and the food is not good. We had breakfast in there for two people and had 1 order of waffles and one bagel. The check came up to $55 and the food was rather bad. The food was presented impeccably, and looked too pretty, but when we ate the food we ended up leaving half of it because it was, honestly bad. We ate at a number of other places in LA for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and spent less for far tastier food. 4. The parking valet charges you $60 per day and is very understaffed, with only one driver, leading you to need to wait up to 1/2 hour to get your car

Morgan (10/5): Comfy and simple. Good food in the restaurant - The rooms are clean and simple. The bed covered in comfortable linens and the mattress is very nice as well. The bathroom is bright and clean. The shower gets nice and warm water for the rain shower head and hand held shower head. We had a very nice stay and if we go somewhere with a mama shelter again would gladly stay again.
Anne (8/5): - It's a chic hotel and a good spot if you like nightlife. That said, don't get a 5th floor room or 4th floor room on the west side of the building if you are sound sensitive sleeper -- its right under the DJ. The windows are fairly well proofed but it comes through the walls and ceiling. The looney tunes character masks on the lamps were a thematic, if a bit creepy, choice.

The hotel property itself is fine. The rooms are small and very basic, and the property itself is noisy as there is a rooftop bar, so you can hear music and people talking late through the night.

Verified traveler (8/5): Cool hotel - This hotel is a great place to visit during a trip to LA, has a great rooftop vibe. It's conveniently located walking distance to the Hollywood stars and other attractions. The rooms are cool, the lobby is practical but with two different chilling areas. The rooms are not bad for the price. Since LA is a driving city you'll need to have a car, so factor in that you'll be paying to don't valet charges as well. Also a few minor set backs happened during our stay, power and wifi went out for a day and had to be downgraded because of plumbing issues. Overall the hotel is not bad, and if they do a full renovation in the near future will be a great place to stay. It's half the price of 5-star hotels with similar theme and crowd, so you do get what you pay for. In summary, if you prefer quality go for one of the better known 5-star hotels. If you're on a limited budget but want somewhere clean with decent sized rooms and a cool vibe, then Mama Shelter is for you.

Wiilliam (10/5): - The staff was incredibly friendly and I was able to gain early access to my room. Brittany (front desk) was great as was a security guard (concierge) whose name I forget. They have a wonderfully retro entry area with a bar and dining area. There is also a rooftop bar (with live music, as I recall) which I was unable to visit. I'm returning to LA in mid August and plan to sty there again.

Drove to the hotel and the street and hotel were packed! What a hot spot. Darrell at the front desk found us a comfy seat and a refreshment while waiting for the reservation to make its way in! So friendly and helpful. We’ll be back!

I saw a lot of comments talking about the noise coming from the upstairs patio, yes you can definitely hear it from your room but it’s not bad enough to keep you up at night. But if you need absolute silence then I would say stay at a more basic holiday inn or something. Just know you’re staying at a very social hotel with a night life! This didn’t hinder my experience because it’s what I was looking for. Very nice hotel and staff located right in the middle of all the other nightlife and tourist attractions. Will be coming back!

Lauren (8/5): - My husband and I stayed at Mama Shelter for 2 nights as part of our honeymoon. From check-in to check-out, the staff were lovely and went above and beyond, they even gave us some drink vouchers for the rooftop to celebrate our wedding! They were very accommodating and the room was very comfortable and clean. The only downside was that the rooftop was quite noisy which you could hear in the room, and the surrounding areas felt a bit unsafe. But, it is super close to main LA attractions, shopping areas and the overall vibe of the hotel is amazing. Great for a younger crowd, I'd definitely book here again for a short stay.

Sarah (4/5): - If you’re looking for a good night’s sleep, I wouldn’t recommend staying here. The music and activity from the rooftop (think DJ set and heavy bass) reverberates throughout the hotel until 1:30am or later. We stayed on both the 5th and 3rd floors, and the volume was about the same. The staff are super friendly and kind, and the place has a cool vibe. I just prefer to go out if I want to party, not have the party where I’m wanting to sleep.
Caroline (8/5): - The hotel has a pretty cool design and the whole staff is incredibly kind. It stays between Hollywood Blvd. and Sunset, two busy streets, and about 5-10min walk to the red line subway station. There is a bar close to the lobby and in the rooftop, so loud music is expected and we were aware of this matter when we booked. Fortunatetly, at the end of the day we were so tired that we couldn't be bored with the noise. The two elevators were out of service one day, which made us take the stairs, and then just one of them worked thoughout the last days of our stay. Because area gets busy almost every day, we felt safe to walk in the night, but there is some homeless people a few blocks away from the hotel. We got free coffee in the morning, and the basic bathroom ammenities had to be requested at front desk. Overall, we had a great time, the location is good for tourists, the hotel is very comfy, but be aware that there is signifcant noise at night.

Bangjun (2/5): - Was the most terrible hotel experience I have had in a while. The noise never stopped until 3 to 4 AM every morning. The hotel told us it was from the nearby restaurants and would stop at around 11 PM but it was right from the hotel bar. I barely fell asleep for the entire night. Horrible. If you value and prioritize your sleep quality over heavy parties, don't live here.

Stephanie (8/5): Great location - They contract out for valet, and charge $55 which we thought was spendy considering the valet didn’t help with any luggage when we arrived nor did the hotel. Also the rooftop bar is great, but the 5th floor was super loud with the dj playing until 2am, just an fyi. We would request lower floors next time. Overall a good boutique hotel, with a great restaurant & bar downstairs, within walkable distance to a ton of stuff in West Hollywood
Alysia Harrelson (10/5): - The best part of Mama's is the kind way everyone was treated. They have superior customer service and we felt right at home. They have great Happy Hours and a cool rooftop restaurant/food area. We received vouchers for 2 people to have a fantastic breakfast free EVERY morning. As an FYI if you have problems sleeping, Mama Shelter has live music nearly every night and we could hear the thumping. It didn't bother me though.

Brenda (8/5): - It's a fun hotel with very quirky rooms, and friendly staff. The rooftop patio is a great hangout spot. Unfortunately, the noise from that rooftop patio is not ideal if you have to wake up early so I suggest staying up late and enjoying the festivities.
TIMOTHY (10/5): - From start to finish the staff made us feel welcome and safe. We met quit a few staff members during our week stay and all were very kind and helpful to us during our week long stay. Really clean and cool room and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.
joseph (4/5): - Food & hotel service along with valet was awesome :) Thank you. The only downside were the restroom…the water pressure is very low when you take a shower & adjusting the water from cold to warm takes some time, overall great experience.
Naur (8/5): Style over substance - Looks cool, but some of the design choice are very puzzling, especially the signature lamp that's arching across the entire room and blocks the only walkable area of the room and can't be moved. The sink looks cool, but also very questionable in terms of usability.
Brittany (4/5): - It was clean and the room was nice. But it was so noisy at all times. You could hear employees in the morning through the vents and then loud music at night. I wouldn't stay here again, which is a shame because if they focused on improving the noise issue and didn't brush it off as "part of the experience" (there are tons of reviews I should have seen beforehand on google about it being too noisy and they brush it off each time) it would be a really cool hotel. They're literally obsessed with the roof top bar and bringing in djs and don't care about the hotel aspect.
Alexis (10/5): - Our room was perfect for our stay, and the building felt extremely safe and kind. We had some issues checking in but the girls at the front desk were extremely helpful and worked with us to make sure we got in. Every time we arrived at the hotel throughout our stay we were greeted and welcomed at the door. Any issues we had whatsoever were immediately fixed by the staff, and we honestly had an amazing time here. The noise complaints from other reviews had us a little worried, but after spending a week here, we had no issues whatsoever. It was exactly the noise level you could expect from an apartment downtown, with muffled voices or sirens, but nothing that would interrupt our sleep or our stay.

Avtar (6/5): - I love all Accor properties- this hotel was clean however quite unusual. The dj was playing music in the lobby and the music was quite loud. Had difficulty conversing with the staff. Then they had no umbrellas to offer staff, rooftop was closed due to the rain, dining options were limited with Asian inspired restaurant and the room has no lotion so had to request. They also had no universal charger - considering the hotel brand - I expected more. Very clean and comfortable room. But done expect excellence - may be I am asking for too much.

Jennifer (10/5): One night stay. - We stayed for the night. Check in was quick and easy. Our room was clean and well appointed. I had drinks with friends on the rooftop which was a little too crowded for my liking but, it's Hollywood. Breakfast was served quickly and it was yummy. We shared the Breakfast burrito.
