Guest Reviews
- Aglae k. (10/5): médina en plein centre .Belle déco très typique .Par contre pour L' hiver pas de chauf - Très jolie mort de pêche.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Fantastic riad. Highly recommend this hotel.
Beautiful interior clean and quiet.
Amazing staff.
- Lib (8/5): - Charming Dar in the heart of the Medina. Parking is fairly easy (5-10 minute walk from closest parking lot just outside of the Medina. Owner also sent someone to guide us from the Medina door to the Dar.
Breakfast was good, room was charming and clean. We did not have hot water when we wanted to have a shower, and that was disappointing. This may have been an exceptionnel problem. We were rushed so did not ask the owner about getting hot water.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely riad, even better hosts. - Great place to stay and even better hosts. Really looked after us and gave us their tips on what to do. One example was we had bought fish at the port to cook at a local restaurant. We didn't know where so he walked us to one he recommended and had a great meal, plus didn't get ripped off!
- Chris (10/5): At home again - This was our second time a Dar Rahaothello. This trip we stayed at 7 other Riads in Morocco; many were equally attractive in decor, but none matched the service we received from Nezha. We find the town very relaxed, and again we had a superb meal cooked by Nezha (3 fish courses and an apple crumble). We feel at home!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great location and kind, helpful staff - Staff were great and very helpful. Lacation is good and it is an interesting building. Took us two days to find the rooftop patio! Rates were reasonable and Nasir makes a great breakfast. We didn't try dinner but heard it was excellent.
- Squoshy (10/5): Good basic accommodation - Not too inspiring from the outside, right in the middle of the souk, nor on first impressions as you walk in the door, BUT once you acclimatise to it all becomes very pleasing. The room was spacious with a 3 seater padded bench and coffee table, the bed was very comfortable and the best we have had in Morocco. The shower had oodles of hot water if not particular powerful, Breakfast was plentiful, with freshly squeezed orange and plenty of coffee and fresh bread/pancakes/eggs. We had one evening meal and that was perfect, the equal to any we had anywhere else. Nezha, the manager and the other staff were very helpful and friendly. The only disappointment was the roof terrace, the chairs were old and past it, the sunbed mattresses were the same and looking at some of the pictures on Expedia, you would think it was a different place, the paint was a different colour and the terrace cushions were nothing like reality. Having said all that, I would stay here again, it was quiet, the only noises we heard were the seagulls.
- Paul (8/5): Situated in the heart of the Medina - We had a very warm welcome & were given lots of valuable information on our arrival.Amazing value.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good place for the money!
Friendly people in the hotel.
- David Moffat (10/5): A hidden Gem - Don't be put off by the little tunnel you walk through to get to the Riad. Once inside Nezha and the rest of the staff make you feel very welcome. I was travelling alone and the only Brit staying when I was there, but I was made very welcome. Would definitely stay here again. Ideally placed within the Medina.
- Verified traveler (10/5):
- Hing Fai (8/5): Good stay - Good location. The hostel is next to the Main Street. The breakfast is delicious and the host is really helpful.
- wo (10/5): Nice - We booked at this hotel but got an option of anther hotel they had five minutes away. So this review is based on that hotel and not dar rahaothello.
The hotel we stayed at was very comfortable and the staff could not have been more helpful. The only issue we had was the mattress if u like a strong orthapedic mattress you'll be fine. They showed us around and essaouira is easy to get around. We had a great couple of days, nice breakfast on the terrace if only a little lack lustre , loads of bread and croissant , lovely fresh orange juice, superb coffees and yogurt.
Overall a great experience and would definitely return land well recommended.
- K (10/5): A wonderful stay - We stayed here for a week and loved every minute! The riad is a little treasure, down a well-hidden little alley way and from the moment we walked in, we felt welcome. Our double room was comfortable with plenty of space for luggage and a lovely open window looking down onto the pretty courtyard below and up to the sky and the terrace. Nazah and Rajid, the manager and night manger, were always friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. The location of the riad is perfect, right in the middle of the medina, so it was a lovely walk out in whichever direction we chose to wander everyday. It was lovely to come back and sit on the roof top terrace, out of sight of the souks, but with a fascinating view over the roof tops, out to see. Omar, Nazah's husband, took us out to the Berber market which was a real experience and we were very grateful for his insight and company.
We would thoroughly recommend Dar Rahaothello and would love to revisit ourselves.
- Rebecca (10/5): Magical place in the heart of the Medina - A tastefully renovated building and beautifully decorated rooms; quiet yet in the heart of the medina and close to the souks, markets, harbour, cafes, restaurants and a short walk from the beach. Lovely friendly people looking after us, great breakfasts plus traditional home cooked dinners can be available if you request them. Advice and help any time you need it. Plenty of hot water. Great views from the terrace. A lovely place to stay!
- angela (10/5): Hidden Gem - on a winter sun break from wet and windy UK to sunny Essaouira, the riad - tucked away down a side street in the heart of the medina - is small and cosy with only six rooms, all spotlessly clean and decorated in a combination of traditional Moroccan décor with eclectic oriental artwork from the owners' travels. One of the best features is the sun terrace with 360 view of city roofscape and sound of the ocean ... has sun loungers, great for relaxing away from the hustle and bustle of the souks which the good continental breakfast will set you up for. Rachid was extremely kind and helpful, every ready with a pot of mint tea. We are regular visitors to Essaouira and will certainly visit Dar Rahaothello again.
- Daniel (10/5): Beautiful Dar tucked away in a small alleyway - This beautiful Dar (not a Riad) was our base in Essaouira. It is centrally located between the big market and the fort.
The staff was cool, always reponsive ad helpful and at the same time unintrusive. The rooms were charming and clean.
