Guest Reviews
- Sergena (4/5): - Old facilities. Most of the charm is the area it’s in. Facilities are old and dated.
- Janice (10/5): - Very quiet, kind staff, very clean and very convenient hotel. It is a bit dated in many ways, but that adds to the charm and the Cape Cod experience. Would return anytime.
- Richard (4/5): Worn down and old. - No maid service for 3 days. Musty smell. Worn down and feeling its age.
- Jeanne (10/5): - We had a lovely stay, Eric was a perfect host.
- Leanne (8/5): - Wasn’t aware that breakfast was an option that we could purchase onsite….front desk could be more informative.
- Jared Adam (6/5): Gross linoleum floors in room - They need to mop/clean their linoleum floor in the hotel room. Our room can’t be the only one that needed it. Turned our feet and socks black from walking on it.
- R (6/5): Great location. Dated property. - Like many other reviews, we found this hotel very dated. The room however was a good size with a very large bed, sofa desk and a table with a couple of chairs, plus a fridge. The bathroom was fine. Importantly it was clean. The carpet in the hallway was grubby and clearly had been around a good while.
The location is excellent...1 minute walk from the main street with the bars and restaurants, and a few minutes drive from the harbour.
- Erwynn (8/5): - Great location, not too far from Main Street.
- Ingrid (10/5): - Check in was easy, the woman at the front desk was efficient and friendly. We got a free upgrade! I dont even know what the upgrade was, but our room is nice and big, has a fridge, and a table for eating. The air conditioning isnt great, but there is not usually a ton of ac on the Cape. We would easily come back to Shoreway Acres.
- Terre (8/5): - Clean but very small. Small closet space.
- Michelle (10/5): - Room was clean, staff was friendly, close to shops, restaurants and beach.
- kristine (10/5): - Very comfortable and spacious room, well maintained and inviting pools and grounds, efficient office staff.
- kevin (6/5): - Great location. Nice people. Needs updating and the bed was lumpy
- Maciej (6/5): Not Great - The room we wanted with a queen bed as not available. After some effort we got a king bed upgrade with an opened can of beer on the floor. The bathroom vents from the 80’s a caked in dust. Not great overall but luckily we didn’t plan to hang indoors.
- Arkadiy (6/5): - Great location, with plenty of parking and easy access to downtown.
However, the rooms are rather outdated and the bathroom was not well maintained - the heater panels in the bathroom were coming off and the ventilation didn't work well.
- Christine (8/5): - Cute little place. My only complaint was the inherent was spotty and made working from the room a little difficult. Otherwise, really enjoyed our stay and the location is excellent.
- MaryJean (10/5): - Great spot with a quick walk to the beach or the Main Street. Perfect for a weekend getaway. Indoor and outdoor pool. Clean and reasonable.
- Robert (8/5): - Great location to downtown
- kelly (8/5): - Great location. Beach restaurants stores are all walkable
- Mellisa (6/5): - This was an adequate place to sleep but certainly not modern or updated in any way.
- Edit (6/5): - good location, great pool, easy access. rooms
were great and shower was good. good ac
major complaint is why are staff members banging on my door, waking me up to inform me of checkout more than an hour in advance? very bizarre and if the hotel was on fire and highly unneccessary
- Barry (8/5): - Easy to find and park close to your room. Great lawns and outside pool with loungers for relaxing and sunbathing, Close to wide range of shops and restaurants on Falmouth's main drag. Rooms a little tired but clean and comfortable. Good breakfast. We'd happily go back.
- Suresh (8/5): - Location is great. Property looks a little
- Christina (10/5): - Great location!
- Christy (6/5): - This was a wonderful location for a quick ferry visit to Martha's Vineyard. The hotel itself is a little worn down. The location, the pool, the walking distance to the town, and the friendly staff made it a wonderful visit.
- Kittykitty789 (6/5): If location is your priority this is the hotelfor you with caveats - We have just returned from a trip to the US which ended in Cape Cod . We booked The Shoreway Acres Inn with Trailfinders who describe this hotel as ‘proudly old fashioned Cape Cod atmosphere and traditional furnishings.’
Truth is this hotel is in a desperate need of an upgrade.
Positives are the size of our room, clean bed linen and towels and friendly staff.
In addition the hotels location could not be bettered.
BUT, the hotel generally is very dated and has a musty smell, the carpets in the hallway were very grubby and in need of replacement.
I have written to Trailfinders with this feedback.
We have traveled with Trailfinders many times and this is the first time we have been disappointed.
- Christy (8/5): - Great customer service and location! The property is a bit dated.
- Ellen (10/5): - Perfect location
- Bruce (10/5): - nice and quiet
- Sherry (8/5): - We enjoyed the family feel, staff at reception were very friendly and helpful.
- Kerry (10/5): Historic Cape Cod Hotel - A great place to stay. Great Cape Cod Hotel. Friendly staff! Perfect location, right behind main street. Close to all the shops and restaurants. Spacious, comfortable room.
- Rosemary (10/5): - Love the old charm. Wonderful staff. Easy to get around.
- Bianca (8/5): - Drain in shower wasn’t draining and took shower with 3-4in of water in bath. Other than that it was all good
- Scot45 (8/5): Older functional accommodation - The ShoreWay Acres Inn and Cape cod lodgings has a multitude of different buildings. On arrival we were allocated a room in the building that houses the indoor pool. This hotel is an older hotel with older decor, however our room was spacious and clean, and contained a large sofa refrigerator and small table and chairs. We had a large comfortable bed, I would say the accommodation might not be to everyone’s taste, but it was comfortable and functional.
- Jacquelyn (8/5): - The receptionist, Tammy, was kind and helpful beyond expectations.
- Julien (2/5): - Outdated
- Etelka (8/5): - Great place to stay! The pool was lovely and Falmouth was cute. The staff were very helpful and accomodating,
- Laurie (8/5): - The Shorway Acres is tremendously convenient to Main Street Falmouth and to the ferry from Woods Hole to Martha's Vineyard as well. The decor is a little old fashioned but the rooms are spacious and a great value.
- frequenttraveler6060 (10/5): Caring staff assisted me through health emergency - When you are traveling on business, one key aspect that is important is whether a property has staff that can assist a guest during a health emergency. I encountered this problem last week. I felt suddenly ill just before checking out, and was able to get to the front office where Irene promptly called an ambulance and stayed close by until the paramedics arrived. I am so grateful she was there that morning, and am fully recovered. Thank you Shoreway Acres. It was only a one-night stay, but am grateful for your 24-hour front desk professional staff!
- fiona (10/5): - great property with pool, lovely grounds and breakfast room. Falmouth shops and restaurants just a few minutes walk away and the beach about 15-20 mins walk at end of the road. We had a lovely couple of nights here and wish we’d stayed longer.
- John (10/5): - Friendly staff, quick access to main street, short walk to beach.
- Gary (6/5): - While our room was quite spacious - even included an almost-full-sized refrigerator - the bed mattress was terrible. Both sides of the king mattress had deep grooves so that your feet were literally above our body when you laid down. It really messed with my wife's back the first night and after that she had to put pillows into the depression in the mattress and sleep on top of that!
- Peter (10/5): Outstanding and Friendly Service!! - This is an older property, family owned. The rooms are small and basic but clean. Bathroom is new & fully updated- nice! This is not a five star stay in terms of finish or amenities, but the service is AWESOME!! Extremely polite, can-do, and w a smile.
I arrived 430am after a red eye flight into Boston, and my check in was not until 4pm (for a 430pm wedding, I might add). I was exhausted and, after falling asleep in a lawn chaise on the property, they sent me down to the breakfast buffet on the house and checked me in at 10am!!!
Keep in mind, this is Cape Cod in August, it’s hella busy! I was practically weeping tears of joy. I showered, caught up on sleep and survived all the festivities that night.
If you wanna stay at a family owned business w outstanding friendly service, This would be a good bet. Prices are very fair as well. It’s a very big property with a series of carriage, houses in buildings and pools and volleyball courts. There’s a lot to do there, but I didn’t take advantage of any of that.
It was a nice clean room and outstanding service!
- Mark (6/5): - dated, ‘Old Cape’ feel
- Alexandra (10/5): Great place for families with small children - We were looking for someplace well located and well priced to stay at in Falmouth. The room was simple and what we needed. The children loved the indoor pool down the hall, and we could easily have taken advantage of the outdoor sports equipment and massive lawn had we had more time. Importantly, the inn is in the town center and close to restaurants, library, playground, and ice cream. Beaches were a 5-10 minute drive away. We definitely plan to return!
- Ann (10/5): Nice Falmouth Inn - I needed a room for 2 night while participating as a vendor at a conference in Mashpee. Shoreway Acres was very comfortable.
- Autumn (8/5): - A great place to stay in the Cape!
- michael (10/5): Great place to stay - Great place to stay. Rooms are good size with sitting area full size fridge, microwave, & coffee pot. the inn is located 100 yards from Main St. which is great for exploring downtown shops & dining. The inn is also about 1/2 mile from Surf Drive Beach. Highly recommend.
- Catherine (10/5): - Our king room was spacious and comfortably. Just a quick walk to the quaint main st for shopping and dining. We didn't use the pools but they looked inviting and clean
- parsinc2 (10/5): Very close to everything - Everything was great! The beds were comfortable, but bring your own pillows. The room was very clean. All the staff were very courteous and helpful. It was a very short walk into town and a short drive to woods hole to catch the ferry. We would definitely stay here again. Go visit this very nice hotel.
- Anthony (10/5): Convenient to town - Lucky to get a room on Friday - after the 4th of July- short walk to town and beach
- Michelle (10/5): Nice. - Room was clean and comfortable. Small sitting area with table, refrigerator, microwave. Bathrooms are not the newest of new but very clean. The pool area was very nice, the grounds are beautiful and you can’t beat the location. The front desk was most helpful if anything was needed. We will be back. Thank you.
- g230 (10/5): Wonderful hotel - The most welcoming and wonderful hotel .
Stayed 2 night on a tour of New England with my friend .
Wonderful setting beautiful well kept gardens and garden furniture.
Room was spotlessly clean had fridge microwave and coffee maker .
Aircon good .
Easy walk to restaurants and Mather’s Vineyard ferry .
Special shout out to Paula who looked after us at breakfast so cheerful and happy , set you up for the day .
Will return one day
- Susan (6/5): - The Inn is super cute however the functionality is bad. I heard the neighbors tv very clearly, the street traffic was loud, especially motorcycles. The toilet is so low to the floor and a tiny seat. The porch light was so bright that I couldn’t sleep. The worst was the AC was so loud that we had to turn it off at night to sleep then it was too hot to sleep. We left a day early because it was miserable!
- Martin (8/5): - The room.
- Suzanne (10/5): Charming motel, good location - A sweet property in a great location close to Falmouth center. Indoor and outdoor pool. Our extra large room had a desk and sitting area with a bistro style table, microwave and refrigerator. A nice find!
- Wendy (6/5): - Close to Main Street shopping area and restaurants.
- Carole (8/5): Great location - The location was wonderful. I could walk to town. But the room was cold. I couldn't get the heater to work. The only light was one small lamp. They need to put another lamp by the bed. The size of the room was good and it was good to have the refrigerator.
- 33PaulW33 (8/5): Great location, brilliant staff but dated accommodation - Shoreway Acres Inn 59 Shore St; Falmouth MA 02540
We stayed at the Shoreway Acres Inn for 5 nights whilst touring the East Coast of America.
Location wise Shoreway Acres is great. It is just a few minutes walk to Falmouth’s main street in one direction and to the seafront in the other. Great location for exploring Cape Cod. We caught the ferry at Woods Hole across to Martha's Vineyard. There is a parking lot in Falmouth for the ferry with a free bus to the ferry port. This is only a 10 minute walk from Shoreway Acres. We got an UBER to the ferry but jumped on the free bus on the way back. We also hired bikes one day and rode along the old railway which has been converted into a cycle path.
The Shoreway Acres Inn occupies a series of buildings housing a variety of different styles of rooms. The buildings are former houses which have been converted into hotel rooms / suites. From the outside the buildings are typical white washed Cape Cod properties dating back many years. Their website says since 1806. It reminded us of the type of complex in the film Dirty Dancing but not as big. Inside, the rooms are in keeping with the style of the buildings but are somewhat dated and could do with being refurbished. Very much 1950’s style. The first room we stayed in was on the ground floor of one of the houses. The room was large and spacious with a super king size bed and a kitchenette consisting of a cooker, fridge and sink unit. There was an ensuite bathroom. The issue with this room was that it had an adjourning door to the next room in the property which was locked but you could hear everything that was happening in the next room. The people occupying the next room were not being noisy but I could literally hear word for word the conversation they were having. That along with the 1950’s fridge that kept churning all night and the noise from the dated air conditioning didn't give us a good night's sleep.
The following morning we spoke to the hotel staff about this and straight away without any fuss they offered us another room in the same block. This again was extremely large with two queen beds, a separate kitchen area and ensuite bathroom. Again the interior was extremely dated. A much quieter room though.
The complex also has an indoor and an outdoor swimming pool. We didn’t use these but they both appeared very well maintained and inviting.
Our package included breakfast which was buffet style. Pretty much what you would expect, nothing exceptional but enough to set us up for the day.
This review wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the staff at Shoreway Acres. They are absolutely fantastic. They cannot do enough to help you. Nothing seemed too much trouble. They were all brilliant.
All in all we enjoyed our stay at the Shoreway Acres Inn and I would stay here again. In my opinion though whilst the bedroom areas of the rooms were in keeping with the style of the properties and were comfortable the opposite could be said of the kitchen and bathroom. These along with the air conditioning require being refurbished and bringing up to date.
- Earline (10/5): - Being able to walk to town and the beach was great. We enjoyed the facilities. The staff at breakfast were attentive, caring and top notch. We would definitely go again.
- Philip (8/5): - Beautiful property. Quiet and clean. Staff was friendly and attentive.
Room was dated. No outlets in the bathroom and no outlets conveniently located in the room. How do you dry your hair when the only reachable plug is next to the bed behind the nightstand? And no extension cord? There is an ironing board and iron but no place convenient or easily accessible to plug in and use them?
- Alexis (8/5): - The staff was kind. The floor in the room needed more cleaning, but the beds were nice. The swings and the pool were nice.
A few updates for the hall, dining, and common areas would be great ( even if it woud raise the cost of the the room).
- SUZANNE (10/5): - Great location
- Lisa (10/5): - Only complaint; front desk gave absolutely no direction to room.
Traveled from Vermont and only time we got lost was at ShoreWay Acres!
- Salvatore (10/5): - .
- ARIN (8/5): - The property was probably the spot to be in its hay day 25 years ago. But it was pretty dated. Clean, but dated. The breakfast were fun the food was good the staff were so cool and kind.
- Goutam (10/5): - Very friendly staff. Everything was nice and clean.
- Annie (10/5): - Super
- Jon (8/5): - Limited service. Great location. Nice property
- tfree83 (10/5): Great location off Main street - Quaint historical inn 1 block off main street restaurants and shops. Bed was very comfortable. My room had a window air conditioner that worked well and wasn't too noisy. Breakfast is included or a wonderful french bakery is a 5 minute walk away. Would book again because of great location.
- Linda (8/5): - We stayed in the double queen room in the building with the indoor pool. There are several buildings on the property so I can't speak for all. Room was spacious and very clean. Furnishings were a bit dated as many Cape hotels are. Part of the Cape charm to me. Grounds were lovely and both pools were clean and well kept up. Staff was friendly and helpful. We didn't get daily room cleaning but we were only there for 3 nights and I actually prefer to not have it. I am certain that if we needed something it would be supplied to us. Very close to beautiful downtown Falmouth and a 15 minute walk to the beach. All in all, a pleasant experience. Would recommend.
- Teresa (10/5): - Right behind Main Street shops and restaurants. A historic inn in the Cape Cod tradition with indoor and outdoor swimming pools, breakfast included and comfy beds. Would stay here again for the proximity to Main Street. 15 min walk to beach.
- Robert (10/5): - All of the staff were super friendly and accommodating! The grounds are spacious and well-kept. The location is perfect-walking distance to the town center as well as the beach. We had an amazing time.
- Melanie (8/5): - Great location in Falmouth. Convenient to walk to shopping and dining. About a 10 min walk to the beach. Make sure to bring beach shoes. Beach is very rocky.
- Giulio (10/5): - Very Nice Property
Simple in respect to access
Clean, Very Convenient
- Verified traveler (2/5): Outdated and smelly - Outdated, carpet gave off an old urine like smell. We checked out earlier than checkout date, safe to say not returning.
- Wendy (8/5): - Easy walk to beach and Main Street dinning
- 166danaj (4/5): Would not recommend, great location but.... - Much more a motel than an inn, lovely exteriors but less appealing once you check in. Biggest issues -- the room lock is the same kind I use on my bathrooms at home, literally, and accessibility is a big problem. On the locks, I only stayed because the building we were in (the one with the indoor pool) required a room key to enter, but then the front door was completely unlocked for two straight days. A large toddler could break the door down. On accessibility, no one mentioned our room would be on the second floor and there's no elevator. Not a big deal for us but anyone with even the slightest accessibility challenge would be dismayed. While the room was clean, it was dated and poorly equipped and there's no daily service at all, even to empty garbage. They said it came with a coffee maker but not really, it only uses specific disposable coffee pouches in a little plastic tray you push into the machine and the room only came with two -- tried to get more but had trouble finding employees to ask. Laminate floors are warped, toilet and AC leaked. Having an indoor pool is great, but you literally have to go down to the basement and then take this very narrow stairway with no handrail back up to the ground level to gain access to it (logic of this arrangement escaped us, there's a door right there but you're not allowed to use it). Also very odd -- tables around the indoor pool had umbrellas over them but no umbrellas at all around the outside pool. The two stars reflect that the location is terrific, less than 15 minutes to walk to the beach and just a few minutes to main street, truly ideal.
- Dark (10/5): - It was near downtown and beaches. Breakfast was great and included. Wasn't anything nit to like.
- Andrea (4/5): - The property was fine- grounds well maintained. Breakfast was excellent and the servers were prompt and pleasant. Staff was pleasant and prompt with questions. The room however was a disappointment. Room felt damp even with the air conditioner on. The rug was damp/wet and I think there was a leak in the BR wall- the paint was sagging. Towels were threadbare. Overall a disappointment.
- Heather (10/5): - My daughters and I love the inn. We come every June. It’s ideal for walking Main Street and the beach is close by.
- Jeanette (10/5): - Room was spacious - enjoyed the full sized refrigerator and round table and chairs looking out the big window (old style fire truck was in view). TV was out for the first night, but was available the second night. Decor was dated, but mostly comfortable for our two night stay. Quiet location with plenty of parking spaces. Close to town.
- Elizabeth (8/5): - Great location to downtown Falmouth and the shoreline. The room was very spacious and the complimentary breakfast was nice, with a great set of options.
- Kelly (10/5): - Great location! The king beds could be replaced though.
- Karina (10/5): - Beautiful, cozy and quiet place!
- 767yvonnep (10/5): Lovely, friendly small hotel. - Lovely place to stay - friendly, helpful staff, lovely room and quiet location.
Frankly, I don’t understand the negative reviews at all. There’s even free breakfast and both an indoor and outdoor pool. Location is great too - just 5 minutes to the Main Street.
- 63Timbo (10/5): Fantastic location - Delightful property, just off main street, just a minute away from shops and restaurants. Comfy bed, fridge, microwave, all you could need. Indoor pool was warm and well maintained ( the outdoor pool was being filled in preparation for the summer season). The real credit goes to the staff, the nicest, friendliest of our vacation. Rhey were wonderful.
- LaToya (8/5): - I like that this property is quintessential to Cape Cod and is not modern or trending. I do, however, wish the television was a smart one.
- Karina (10/5): - Beautiful place. Very cozy and conveniently located. Rooms are big and comfortable. Nice staff!
- Brianah (10/5): - Staff was extremely accommodating and the rooms were clean, spacious, and charming.
- Sarah (8/5): - This is a lovely old-fashioned resort. Yes a bit tired with some of the furniture a bit of a mix from grandma's house or value village but the beds and linens felt new and very comfortable. Very clean. The room with two queen beds was large. The property was large and felt grand with the lawn and several resort buildings. I didn't use the indoor pool but it looked really inviting with lots of windows. Location was super with main street just a few minutes walk away and the beaches about 600m down the road. Caveat - I was there at low season, probably only a handful of guests, so very quiet in the building and property.
- Mrs A (6/5): Good location in a nice part of Falmouth - The stay at shoreways inn was mixed really. The check in was good, nice indoor pool and easy parking. The decor we thought was tired looking, especially in the bedroom. The room was spacious but definitely needed updating. The bath and sink were marked and chipped, the fridge very old and noisy. The entrance and passage way to the room's wasn't vacuumed while we were there the 3 nights and overall very tired looking.
The good points were the breakfast which was a good selection of hot and cold items and is included in the room rate. Paula our server was lovely and couldn't do enough for you. The location is great, easy 5 minute walk to the restaurants and shops of Falmouth with a great choice, as I said easy parking and nice pool area. Just in our opinion tired decor and basic cleaning letting it down.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent Stay - Large, comfortable rooms. Superb location!
- Marianne (10/5): Friendly - It was very convenient staying here. I was able to walk to all the quaint stores. The free breakfast had so much to choose from . I would stay there again. The breakfast host Paula is so friendly and helpful.
- Marianne (10/5): Above and beyond - My sister and I stayed here for a family visit. We both enjoyed having a refrigerator and microwave in our room. The room was clean and comfortable. Having a free buffet breakfast was fantastic. Our hostess Paula was outstanding. She was so friendly and welcoming. She went above and beyond.
- ilcaplan (2/5): Try somewhere else first - We were booked into the Shoreway Acres Hotel by Trailfinders otherwise we would have turned tail and left.
We were in room 135 which was typical of the rooms in the indoor swimming pool block.
I can only describe the hotel and room as very tired old and dirty
The hotel is positioned in large grounds and close to the town centre but clearly it is in need of major investment.
- Belladonna59 (4/5): Like stepping back in time and not in a good way! - This hotel looks so much better in the photos than it is in reality. It is very outdated and tired. Our room was clean enough but the communal areas were a bit grubby. A breakfast was included but very poor with little choice.
The hotel is in a good location both for the Main Street in Falmouth and the beach, there is plenty parking.
- RICHARD (10/5): - All staff were extremely helpful polite and friendly especially Paula the hostess at breakfast
- Kenneth (10/5): - I had an excellent experience. Very convenient location. The staff was super friendly. The buffet breakfast afforded us more personal time and was far superior to the usual continental breakfast.
