A spider and other insects crawled onto the bed while we were settling in for bed. Staff also charged my card for the stay despite my already paying for it online. A refund was issued however

- Kile (10/5): This motel exceeded our expectations and the breakfast was phenomenal. - My partner and I traveled here from Chicago for 7 days, and it exceeded our expectations. Andrea, the manager, was one of the most welcoming, warm people we have ever encountered. There were two guests next to our room that were very rude to the staff, and Andrea handled it professionally. Our room was right next to the office. This motel was located 8 minutes from Rocky Mountains. We will definitely be coming back here. The entire staff was amazing. The entire place was amazing. I have zero complaints.

- owenp2 (2/5): Bug bites happened here - I had the following problems: 1. The amount I was charged was more than the amount in my confirmation letter from them (13 to 18 dollars per night plus tax more for 11 nights). 2. The AC/heater was broken 3. I was bitten more than 50 times during my stay. At first I thought it might be mosquitoes but there were no mosquitoes in or out of the room and the bites ceased when I changed rooms. The pattern of the bites was most consistent with bed bugs. The owner declined to have the room professionally inspected and simply told me that there was no infestation based on his examination. I do not know if there were bed bugs, mites or fleas but there was something in the room that bit me repeatedly and the problem stopped when I left the room. I am still dealing with the presumed bed bugs that may have infested my luggage/belongings. I suggest avoiding this hotel given the problem and that the owner did not address it.

- Alan (6/5): - Although our room (No. 23 - 2 queen beds with kitchen) was spacious and peaceful with comfortable beds, it was poor in many other respects. First of all there were a number of outstanding maintenance issues - e.g non working lights, a partially broken gas hob and kitchen tap spraying water. We alerted management to all of these shortcomings on our departure (see photo) in the hope that they would be addressed ahead of the next guests occupying that room. More generally, the room and its furnishings were tired and would benefit from upgrading - eg stained carpet, old curtains, pillows without protector covers. Finally the room was not clean - e.g. the kitchen floor was dirty, the cutlery drawer was dirty. This was the worst accommodation by a significant margin that we encountered during our 4+ week road trip in which we stayed in 11 different properties.

- Scott (7/5): - We've stayed several times at saddle & Surrey. It's changed hands at least 3 times since we started going there. The new owners do provide a better breakfast than previously, and the rooms were clean. Location is good, on highway 7, so that you're close to town but not in the thick of the insane traffic. We had to change rooms due to loud refrigerators. We've stayed in MANY hotels/motels and this is not normal, usually indicating a faulty compressor or ice buildup. This needs to be looked at as we would not have been able to sleep with the noise. The breakfast was okay, 3 kinds of cereal and some muffins/bagels. Butter and milk are kept in a tiny fridge that is very close to one of only two tables in the lobby. I suggest that staff move the tables further away from the fridge as the space is insufficient.

- I3889KIchristineh (10/5): The Perfect Stay - The Saddle and Surry was a perfect place to stay while is Estes. Just a few minutes away from downtown and still very quiet at the same time. So clean and tidy, we arrived 15 minutes before our scheduled check in time and they double checked our room was ready and checked us in. Our room was very spacious and had everything we needed. Even an iron thank goodness because I had to press my son’s shirt before a wedding. Reasonably priced, absolutely would recommend.

- 249kristad (4/5): Wouldn't stay here again - I thought the hotel was quite run down, old and gross. The shower was super tiny and you could barely turn around in it. The shower had black mold in it and was gross. The bed was squeeky and wobbly. If you slept in the king size bed with another person if they turned over the bed would shake and it wakes you up. The carpet in the hotel was old and gross. I knew I was arriving late the first night and I called the hotel so many times to let them know. I left two voices messages to confirm someone would be there but no one called me back. I finally reached someone from the reservations department and they just hung up on me. When someone finally gave me the front desk phone number for the motel and I called it, it was not a working number. Thankfully, I arrived short before 9pm, when they leave for the night but wow, what a horrible experience with this motel. I would not recommend this motel.
- H3246LLbethp (10/5): Fun, clean, friendly and cost-savings alternative. - We LOVE Saddle and Surrey for many reasons. Have been gong there off and on for several decades. It is a clean, simple and cost-saving alternative to other locations. The family atmosphere and prompt attention to guest needs sets it apart from other hotels/motels. We stayed there BEFORE and AFTER our daughter's Estes Park wedding and couldn't have been happier. While we have stayed at a number of more expensive rentals in Estes, we find Saddle and Surrey meets all of our needs. It is close to Estes Park and RMNP, has plenty of space for stowing hiking gear and clothes, and exudes a family friendly vibe.

Staff was friendly and accomodating. It was nice ti have a charcoal grill available, however, it was in bad shape. Toilet was not secure and rocked when you sat and stood up. Vent in bathroom stayed on whenever light was on and it was very noisy.

- 579debd (10/5): Very nice and affordable! - The Saddle and Surrey Motel was a great place to stay. It was affordable and easy to get to. The rooms are smaller but very clean and well kept. You park right outside your door and that was handy considering we were there for a wedding and had a great deal of luggage. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Surprisingly it was fairly quiet even though it was located next to a roadway. We would stay again for sure.

It was close to the venue, very comfortable, accommodated an early check-in, and had coffee and breakfast ready before we left. If we get back to Estes Park we will stay there again.

- ericdV3909PA (10/5): A great place to stay in Estes Park - This is a clean and quiet hotel. It is just 10-minutes from the Beaver Meadows entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park and just a bit further from the Fall River entrance. Parking is available in front of each room. The hotel staff are nice and helpful. My room had a comfortable bed, a small refrigerator, and a 2-cup coffee maker. The shower was tiny. Breakfast was very limited. The choices when I was there were cereal (Apple Jacks or Frosted Flakes), croissants, muffins, and coffee.

- Yolagel (5/5): If you love to have a lodly stay, you can prefer them - It's so close to Estes Park, you can try to walk and it makes your visit easier and enjoyable. Enough parking space and you can see elks around. The room was smelling bad because of the mold. We purchased a refresher for our room. Staff don't know what they are doing, and mostly they don't listen to you. It's like a teenager's house more than a hotel. Breakfast is really bad. You should stop giving breakfast because there isn't a breakfast. The refrigerator and A/C unit were extremely loud. It was so hard to sleep comfortably.

- Jamie (10/5): Senior Rodeo in Town - Such a great place, the room was amazing for our family of 5. I did not expect to have a sofa sleeper WITH 2 beds, that was wonderful. Every morning, housekeeping asked if we wanted our room cleaned. We told them no, but asked for clean towels and extra TP. They got it right away for us, no issue at all. Location was so nice, just a bit outside of town, but so so close to the rodeo arena so we could get to the bullriding event we were in town for with ease. We did have a drain stopper in the bathroom sink that was stuck shut. I went to the office to ask if someone could fix it while we were gone, and the gentleman got up immediately, walked to our room to check it out, and said he would be back with tools. We left to our Rodeo, and when we returned, it was fixed. Very nice people at this hotel. We had access to the pool and hot tub until 10pm every day, and our family really enjoyed that. Breakfast in the office was simple, but exactly what we needed to get each day going. We even had the presence of a young deer in the parking lot and on the grass, eating plants, twice!! Thank you for a wonderful stay!! Nothing, we really loved everything.

- kathydH4521SI (10/5): 👍 Thumbs Up - We loved this motel! The location was just outside the hubbub in Estes, but only a few minutes from downtown. The staff was super friendly, the room was clean, updated, and spacious- even for 3 of us. We highly recommend staying here. Thumbs up for Saddle and Surrey!

- Deborah (8/5): Clean, comfortable, great location. - The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The room had a small refrigerator (the kind with the small freezer inside) that worked well, a microwave, and a 4-cup Mr. Coffee coffee maker. The location was excellent! We were able to ride our bikes down to the lake on a multi-use path that was right across the street. Also a short drive to Rocky Mountain National Park. We were in the Standard King room (#10) It was a little smaller than I had expected, but we had room for our 2 bikes in front of the couch. The shower was VERY small, but the water was hot and had decent water pressure. The furniture in the pool area was kind of shabby and though the water was clear, the bottom of the pool was dirty. Breakfast was grocery store type bagels, croissants, and muffins, yogurt ...and some days less than that. The milk, butter, cream cheese, peanut butter, jelly was in full-size containers in the fridge that were used by all the guests. It was fine, but don't choose this Motel because of the breakfast.

- Robert (10/5): Very Nice - The hotel is conveniently located near the National Park, as well as restaurants and grocery shopping. The hotel staff was super friendly and very accommodating to our needs. When there was a cancellation mix-up, Andrea was kind enough to call us while we were in the park and clear it up, rather than assuming we cancelled. I would highly recommend the Saddle and Surrey to anyone looking for a visiting the National Park who is visiting the area.

- Tyler (4/5): Except for the shower it was fine. - Overall pretty good for a cheap renovated old motel. At least it had enough electrical outlets. The shower was terrible — the shower head needs to be repaired or replaced.
- Eleanor (9/5): Comfy and cosy motel - Really comfy beds and immaculately clean bathroom. Microwave and fridge in room was useful. It was a quick drive to the Visitor Centre in town. I'd stay here again if in Estes Park.
- karimE1074GQ (8/5): Good Experience for our family - This was a good motel in Estes Park. It has an 'old school' feel but that's how most of the lodging is in Estes Park. Our rooms were clean and beds were good. The pool was fine and our kids swam. A fun part of our stay was a small herd of elk walked right through the parking lot. We didn't get to eat the motel breakfast because it starts at 7:30 and we had early timed entries (6:00-8:00am) into RMNP. As previous reviews say, the breakfast is not big any way, so we got a few breakfast items at the local grocery store to eat before we left.

- Jodie (8/5): - We booked last minute and were looking for a 2 bedroom. Good location. Staff friendly. We were a little early and didn't have to wait. Bedding was not visually appealing but it was clean. Room was clean but the carpet and chairs could use a little TLC. Maybe extra shampooing?
