- Kendall (3/5): Disappointing for the price - The B&B is cozy and cute and the breakfast was nice. There was no body soap, HAND soap, or shampoo or conditioner. I’ve literally never had this happen in all of my years of travel - even the most basic Airbnbs have hand soap at the very least. Upon calling downstairs the host said there is none and she hasn’t had time to get some. The recommendation was to go across the street to the grocery store which thankfully had one small bottle of 2 in 1 soap/shampoo left (otherwise we would’ve had to buy full sized of everything….). This is not an excuse when we live in the day and age of Amazon - especially as a hotel. Further the description said there was a fireplace in the room but it was one of those fake plug in fireplaces.

- John (10/5): - If you’re visiting Georgetown for its history, the American River Hotel is the perfect place to stay. A stunning building, with an interior to match. Every room is unique and charming. The owner/innkeeper and his mother are truly gracious hosts.

- Morgan (6/5): Overall ok, not great - Staff was friendly for sure, and breakfast was good, freshly made. The house had great charm, I appreciate the antiquity of it, the architecture. However, there are things that could be modernized, like the locks on the rooms and bathrooms. 2 of the 3 rooms I booked had increasingly uncomfortable and squeaky beds, no Kleenex in the rooms, the main bathroom we used had nothing to dry our hands after washing them. While the bedrooms were very hot, the hallways and main part of the B&B was freezing.

Ended up changing my plans to arrive within the three hour check in. Nothing noted about how to get into the building, ended up having to look up the number and call. This was during check in hours. Staff was helpful, hotel was as expected for an older Victorian. Hot tub was very nice, but make sure you bring your key, or you will be locked out hoping a guest will let you back in.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great historical stay - Great historical stay with many interesting pieces inside. Staff was great and accommodating. Some slight disrepair in the bathroom, and the enclosed yard, which could be very enjoyable, was not well maintained, so did not present an environment to relax outside. Still a great and unique stay that harkens back to the old bed and breakfast.

The television in our room was oddly placed and awkward to use from the bed. It was pretty far away and I didn't want to turn it up loud in case it bothered other guests.
- Joanne (8/5): Warm, friendly and rich with history. - Jessie the butler is kind and attentive. I appreciate his eagerness to provide excellent customer service. He is also a god loving man and it shows. Sebastian is the 19 year old pup and he likes bacon. Room 15 is on the 3rd floor and it was rich with history and energy. The food truck right outside was delicious and fancy. I got the Mac and cheese burger on a brioche bun with shoe string fries. The hubby got that blue burger and it was 10/10. We love this place and are bringing our kids back this month. Breakfast was so goooood.

- Rashi (5/5): Not worth the money paid. - Breakfast was good. Maybe I wasn’t that ready to step back into the history .. I really missed the modern comforts I take for granted & I wouldnt want to go back there . There was no coffee in the rooms , no tv, no toiletries in the bathroom, there were stains on the staircase that looked like bloodstains (although we were told it’s plum juice stains) . The staff didn’t seem motivated to make guests happy . The bed height was so high .. it made it hard to climb up the bed. I paid twice the price of a normal modern hotel and didn’t find value for what I paid.

- Lawrence (2/5): Disappointed - Two stars because set breakfast was mother's home-cooking, with two sweet hired girls serving 5 tables. One star otherwise. Hoping this would be the nicest stay of 8 accommodations in our 3 weeks in California, I was sorely disappointed. It was the worst; with later insult added to injury. First indication was the cracked glass in the front door; then small sign at owner's desk advising a currently non-functioning hot tub. Owner described the several restaurants in the small town. Not much else open. He suggested a walk for activity which we did take, discovering little activity in the town. Our room was a sad surprise, a mishmash of furniture, lighting, kitchen sink, but no refrigerator, a bath tub within the room, a separate compartment with toilet and sink. A renovated bathroom with shower was excellent, but across a hallway. As to lighting, the lights adjacent to bed were too dim to see for reading. The table lamp was difficult to use, the wardrobe in corner was too dark to use, had no hangers, and would not hold my suitcase which thus had to be placed on the table. Similar lighting problems at other side of room. The worst of the room was the stand-alone roaring air conditioner, over which the road roar of accelerating loud trucks and cars went on 'til toward 10 or 11 pm, indicating life speeds past this town. I early discovered that the door from the room onto the veranda actually could be opened, however there was no sitting furniture on the dirty porch. Later in the

- John (10/5): - The American River Inn is a cute old hotel located in Georgetown, CA. Established in 1853 if definitely has CA Gold Rush credentials. I loved the place and just generally love this sort of walk back in time cute and classy hotel. The staff was very helpful and friendly and the atmosphere charming. If you are going to stay in the CA Gold Country do things right and stay at the American River Inn in the heart of historic Georgetown.

There was a sitting room downstairs where the hosts provided a wine and cheese reception. Breakfast at the big table in the morning was amazing. The room was comfortable and perfect for us. The staff was extremely friendly.

He gave us dinner recommendations for dinner and historical places to see which was perfect for us history buffs. The place is like stepping back in time and cozy. Breakfast was good. We enjoyed our stay and are going back soon. While food tasted amazing, portions could be a little bigger. That's our only complaint and it's not a deal breaker.

- Wendy (10/5): - I stayed at the Inn with my mother and we shared one of their twin rooms.From the moment I booked the reservation the Inn keeper was very corgal, she made sure we were taken care of, I needed to make sure we had a private bathroom, some of the rooms share bathrooms and I explained I was trave!ing with my mother and didnt want any suprises when she was utilizing the bathroom. She was happy to reserve a twin with a private bath. The breakfast for each morning, we stayed 3 nights, was a gormet breakfast and made me realize I missed the experience of staying in a B& B. I usually stay in Hiltons and most of the time the breakfast, when it is free , is nothing to right home about. I would highly recommend staying at the historical Inn and will definitly return when I am in the area.

- Michael (10/5): - The street in front of the property had noisy motorcycle and pickup truck traffic until late, and the bar down the street had music audible in our room. Be aware that you will have to decide whether to put cash in the envelope labeled "for your generosity", without knowing who will get the cash and how much those people are paid. I realize that after-the-price-negotiations requests for more money are becoming almost ubiquitous, so this hotel is not alone, but customers prefer to pay before they come and then not be panhandled for more.

It was so awesome. Our bedroom was large enough for four people and we enjoyed a shared outdoor balcony. We spent a lot of time out on the balcony watching people and vehicles go by while reading about the history of Georgetown on my cellphone. A very relaxing experience in which the whole family enjoyed. Kids aged 22 and 17. Our bedroom was facing Main Street. It was a bit noisy from vehicle and truck traffic. It didn't bother us as it was part of the overall ambiance!

The beautiful Inn itself is an architectural and esthetic gem, filled with professionally curated world-class art adorning its spacious halls and walls to create a truly one-of-its-kind destination. From the moment of check-in, during the lovely breakfasts, and even when checking-out, the host and staff are exceptional: attentive, knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. I'll certainly go back! There's nothing about the American River Inn to dislike!
- Edeliant (5/5): Nice, but needs a bit more comfort. - Cute B&B. The service was excellent and they made arrangements for our late check in since we were going to a wedding before hand. The bathroom was clean and functional. They had breakfast, but we passed. Could have used a TV in the room. Also, the bed was uncomfortable, because it was really high, made quite a bit of noise when we rolled over or moved. The mattress was also sagging so that lead to poor night of sleep.

- Lucinda (8/5): I was staying on my way between places, never been there before. Though my room had no AC, the rest of the hotel did, a - It was authentic Gold Rush era. Modern enough but not too modern. Very comfortable for lounging, and sleeping. I felt like I stepped back in time… No elevator, and no AC in my bedroom.
- Richard (8/5): - We liked the old fashioned décor The floors squeaked so loud when one of us got up to use the bathroom, which was located in the hall, it woke up the person sleeping.

- Matthew (7/5): Overall we had a great stay. I thought it was a tremendous value. - Breakfast was fabulous. Although they did forget we were vegetarians, but the food was top notch. The house and the antiques are wonderful. The staff is friendly. We felt welcomed. Central air was great in the hallways but didn't make it into our room. Somehow the house is in a neighborhood the required the front door to be locked all hours of the day. Check in was a little awkward.

- Pam (10/5): A great place to stay, the cheerful staff are reason enough to come back. - The bed was very comfortable, room was clean and free evening popcorn plentiful. The dining room had all the necessary condiments right on the table. Staff was very attentive, whisking dishes away as soon as guests finished and carefully cleaning up when the tables vacated. It’s a bit farther walk than anticipated to get to the brewery across the street. definitely not a dealbreaker though.

- Veronique (8/5): Location, building, staff all awesome, except beds! - The location is beautiful, the house itself is a monument, it is incredibly well decorated, you’re transported in the mid-18th century, the personnel is great and very welcoming. We loved the cheese and wine hour and breakfast was plenty and included. Parking was also easy. The beds are terrible! This was our second time, and we were hoping for a better one, but since this is our second time, it looks like there are all like that. However, we probably will come back and take a Tylenol!

- Kurt (10/5): Exceptional - Loved the old fashioned escape from modern technology. They serve good coffee and a filling, balanced breakfast. The service team is sweet, but be willing to go with the flow. Love the antiques and the setting of Georgetown. Definitely off the beaten path and peaceful.
