Guest Reviews
- 409MichelleH409 (10/5): Good base to explore Cambrai and the surrounding area - Hotel is easy to find on the outskirts of Cambrai with ample free parking available. The staff are friendly and polite. The rooms are clean spacious and comfortable. Food in the restaurant is good value and there is a good choice. It is a great base to explore Cambrai and the surrounding area.
- Cristian (8/5): As expected - Small basic room. Good bed. Quiet area. No Ac but was not needed in June.
- stevenpU8425PK (8/5): Good location to explore the Somme - As the title suggests, we used this as a Base to explore the Somme. Well priced for the quality of the hotel. The rooms were a decent size and had everything you need, but feels a bit tired and could do with a bit of a face lift. The staff are really friendly and helpful, but they are run ragged at busy times, trying to run reception, the bar, and serve in the restaurant, mostly with only two of them. We ate in the restaurant at the hotel one night, it was okay but not great. Breakfast was your standard continental, with scrambled eggs and bacon, but they rellay seemed to struggle keeping food topped up and busy times.
- X5553YEneilb (6/5): OK business hotel - Perfectly acceptabele business hotel. Hotel is very a basic older Ibis, but clean and well maintained. Comes with pretty good breakfast and a reasonable restaurant for dinner, which is lucky as there did not seem to be much other choice in the immediate area. Rooms themselves are basic but also clean and comfortable. OK for an overnight stay.
- John (8/5): - Convenient and helpful.excellent breakfast.
- svetlana (4/5): No e charger - Advertising thay have electric car charging when thay do not cost me 2 h delay and got me in on wrong advertising
Then hotel need a renovation it is ok in many aspects but the carpets must go
- Nigel (10/5): - Área a bit of a desert…..
- Sharon (10/5): - Thankful the staff are patient with language barriers
- 454dietmarw (4/5): A bed and a shower, nothing more - If you just need a bed with clean sheets and a bathroom, this IBIS will do. It is close to the motorway but still quiet and parking is in front. Dinner and breakfast however was terrible. Dinner: orders mixed up, food arrived after more than 1 hour either cold or burnt. The fries were a greasy mushy substance. Many guests complained. Breakfast: no plates, no cutlery, the tiny tray of cold cuts was always empty.
Tasteless pre-packed cheese was the option, also pancakes tasted of nothing. Staff: friendly people, quick check-in, the waiter was hopelessly oberwhelmed. We stay at Accor/IBIS a lot but this was our worst experience yet.
- TonyE792 (8/5): Very nice stay - It was only for 1 night as we toured France, every thing was fine.
Check in was a little slow
My only comment would be the toilet seat was broken.
They could not accommodate us all siting down to dinner at the same time and so we went out to find a restaurant that could.
- Malcolm (8/5): - Very nice stay room was good food excellent.
- nigelr2286772 (10/5): Ideal location next to Autoroute peage - Ideal stop on the way to or from the Calais ferry/Eurotunnel. There is a safe free car park. The rooms are simple but clean. Buffet breakfast and there is a restaurant and bar. Mostly a very warm welcome from staff
- David (10/5): - There was only one person at the hotel behind reception when we arrived and at the time we were the only people staying at the hotel. The customer service was excellent and we were looked after extremely well, including cooking us some food! This person deserves recognition and we will definately stay at the hotel again.
- Frederic (8/5): - Un Ibis.
- 467alasdairb (10/5): A bolt hole at short notice - We found ourselves here for three days following a car accident and a delayed return home. Hotel staff were sympathetic, understanding and could not have been more helpful. We spent more time in the room and around the hotel than most guests would choose to do but everything was clean and comfortable as advertised.
- Matthew (8/5): Bien ! - Ok.
- ErnieTraveller (4/5): Needs air con - It was hot when we stopped at this ideally situated hotel near the motorway. The rooms need air con. Staff working really hard and excellent. No chef on that night so microwave food in restaurant. Decent car park.
- Andreas (8/5): Jut what we needed - Found the hotel to be comfortable, good beds, clean, close to the road, Late check in, late room service for snacks and drinks, dog friendly, good breakfast. Also well prepared for corona. Slept excellent! Just what we needed for our road trip.
- Haynest (8/5): OK for a short stay - A good hotel on the outskirts of Cambrai, which was well placed for our needs. Our room was comfortable, clean and quiet. However, although both the windows seemed to be closed, there was a howling gale coming through and with no instructions on how to use the heater, the room remained cold throughout our stay. The warmth quality of the duvet was good enough to make up for this! The breakfast selection was of the usual Ibis good standard with plenty of choice and was actively replenished. The only down-side was that the restaurant doesn't seem to operate every day. We made use of a very good Portuguese restaurant (O Nazareno) at the end of the hotel access road on our first night. On our second night, the Ibis restaurant was available and we were able to enjoy a good, well presented meal.
- Tony (8/5): Pity about the Bath Towels - Arrived on a Sunday evening to A very quiet hotel we might have been the only guests I initially
Clean easy to find hotel,Room was larger than previous Ibis visited Restaurant was up to the usual standard for breakfast and Dinner My only negative comment was that the bath towels provided had seen better days laundered but threadbare and needed replacement
- Nille1973 (6/5): Good value for money - We - a family of three - stayed at Ibis Cambrai for one night on our way to Spain. We had booked one room, with a dobble bed and a single bed, no breakfast. The room was a bit run down but the beds were the standard Ibis beds, i.e. comfortable, although (understandably) a bit crowded. The area in which the hotel was situated was, however, more than just run down. It seemed a bit seedy and we were a little apprehensive about leaving our room. Nothing happened, though, and we had a good night’s sleep and a nice stay, with good value for money.
- Cabanittas (8/5): A convenient stop over on Route to Switzerland - We enjoyed our stay at this hotel it was convenient on our route to Switzerland & Italy. The reception lady Fanny was very helpful also we enjoyed an evening meal here . The bed was very comfortable. .
- juliejP1310IR (8/5): Comfortbale overnight stay - We stayed here for one night , en route to elsewhere. The room was clean and comfortable and met our needs. We ate in the hotel rather than go into town, dining facilities and choice of food both in the evening and at breakfast were fine. The staff are multi lingual and were very polite and helpful, more than adequate for a stopover.
- zoltan56 (8/5): Great stop off in a pretty little town - The Ibis Cambrai doesn't have a promising exterior, Accor could spend some money making it look less neglected. However, the interior was very clean and comfortable. The room for the three of us was comfortable and well appointed, I need wifi to work when on the road, and accor free wifi has been more than adequate. The best thing about this hotel is the briiliant management and staff, they were polite, charming and highly efficient. The eating facilities were fine for travellers, evening and morning, and more convenient than going into town.
- nigelr2286772 (8/5): Easy access for Autoroute and war cemeteries - A two storey property but there is no lift. It has the very comfortable Ibis beds and the hotel interior is very similar to other Ibis. There is plenty of free car parking which is gated at night. The Autoroute and Cambrai bypass are close by. This is an excellent location the graves and memorials of The Somme.
- Bonniebiker (8/5): A very cold, wet, journey to get here - Staff multi-lingual, helpful and approachable. Rooms warm and water hot. Bed very comfortable. However, Ibis are new to me and I expected a kettle and tea/coffee in the room but this was not available and only possible to purchase individually.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great stay simple clean very comfortable and quiet.
- Chris (10/5): Good for a stop over. - Very clean and comfortable, nice staff, basic breakfast but OK.
- Russell (10/5): - A very pleasant and quite Hotel, near to the City of Cambrai, easy parking, excellent breakfast, they also supply an adaptor lead for computers and iT kit and a desktop PC in the reception
- Janette (10/5): Best Ibis so far! - Definitely one of THE best Ibis hotels we have ever booked.
The welcome was warm and made one feel valued; the staff were always smiling and had great patience with those guests whose command of French was less than basic.
The food was excellent (we recommend the chicken-and-lentils dish) and exceptional value for money.
The room was very comfortable with just the right temperature and it was nice and dark too which meant that we slept well beyond our normal waking time.
Breakfast was busy due to a sports team staying over but this did not worry the staff who ensured that there was plenty for all, even to the extent of catering for a guest with dietary requirements.
Check out was quick and easy and we took the chance to buy a tin of local sweets as a reminder of a lovely stay.
We now have our first-choice hotel for the area
Thank you Ibis for this experience but please look after the staff here, they do you proud
- KWD_11 (4/5): Unsatisfactory in several ways - What a grotty hotel! When we arrived (in November), our room was cold and we had to ask the receptionist to turn on the heating. This was an electric wall mounted heater, as there was no central heating in bedrooms. The ensuite heater was a fan heater which turned off automatically after a minute, although the ensuite was so small that this hardly mattered. The TV had only one channel, a sports programme. When we complained about this, we were told that there was nothing that could be done – so much for the IBIS promise to fix any problem within 15 minutes. The room itself was quite small, with very little hanging space, although the bed was comfortable. The room was on the first floor, and there was no lift. The restaurant was quite adequate – think of it as a slightly substandard campanile - although the breakfast was very good, and the receptionist filled our mugs with hot water on request. There are other budget hotels within the immediate vicinity e.g. Inter Hotel and Kyriad, which offer a cheaper option. I would recommend that you give them a try rather than the IBIS.
- Rachel (10/5): - A little shabby on the outside, but inside has had a refurb, so looks fresh and modern once through the door. Staff were welcoming and friendly and the room was spotless. The bed was especially comfortable. There was a good choice on offer for the continental breakfast. Very good value for money - we would definitely stay here again.
- rufa09 (6/5): Convenient for A2 - The hotel was very easy to find from the A2 motorway and offers a large free car park. First impressions were not good as the outside of the hotel looks a bit shabby. However, the inside has been up-dated. The helpful receptionist said we had been allocated a first floor room. When I asked for the lift I was told that access to the first floor was via a spiral staircase. Given that we were travelling with our dog, a dachshund, and so had his bed as well as our luggage this was not convenient. Full credit to the receptionist who immediately understood the problem and re-allocated us a ground floor room. This proved to be a triple and so was noticeably larger than the standard Ibis offering.
We did not eat dinner in the hotel preferring the Portuguese restaurant next door but breakfast was the normal Ibis offering.
If you are intending to visit Cambrai do note that the hotel is not withing walking distance of the centre. We found it an easy drive into town and on a Sunday there was no problem parking in the main square.
- head4man (6/5): We found it - My sat nav took us to the wrong hotel but luckily a local lady re-directed us.Friendly welcome and room close to front desk.Room clean as we expected and comfortable for a short stoppover. The only complaint was TV did`nt have BBC we keep finding CNN an american station so must assume they have hoards of Yanks as guests, and not many Brits.Bar was fine and food adequate.
- Robert (10/5): I will be coming back - For me the location was perfect for the job I had in the area. The rooms are clean, breakfast is plentiful and a good menu selection for evening meal. The staff are friendly and helpful.....no complaints
- Judith (6/5): - Difficult to find the location. Room very small but adequate for one night. Bath towels too small and thin.
Pleasant staff, decent breakfast.
- Katherine (8/5): Good ibis with decent in-house restaurant - Conveniently located for road access, with plenty of parking, this is a pretty standard ibis (rooms could do with a tiny bit of updating e.g. more plug sockets for example but generally ok). It is worth noting two points: we were in a room upstairs, and there is no lift, so specify a ground floor room if that's a problem. Also, the restaurant was surprisingly good - we had eaten at a really nice Portuguese restaurant just next to the hotel's driveway one night, but decided to try the in-house restaurant for dinner on the second night and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. The staff were helpful and pleasant.
- Christine (6/5): Pity the restaurant was closed! - Difficult to find, the sign is very small and the hotel is hidden behind another one. Just off the motorway, nothing to see, but ideal for a one-night stopover on a long journey.
Staff welcoming, but a big disappointment, the restaurant (advertised as open 7/7) was closed and I only found out when I asked where it was- the chef was absent! So I had to make do with a croque-monsieur at 9 euros, not cheap really. Good breakfast however .
- Stephen (8/5): - Hotel was ok, nothing outstanding but perectly adequate
- sharon (8/5): great hotel - clean and tidy with helpful and courteous staff - i wouldn't be afraid to recommend this hotel to anyone
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Do not be concerned about the external appearance of this building, inside it is first class and the service matches the high expectations we had for this accommodation.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Clean, comfortable, quiet and great service! - Recently remodeled, very clean, quiet, comfortable (except bathroom is a bit cramped), service is outstanding and continental breakfast is really good. Very convenient to the industrial park and a 5 minute drive to downtown Cambrai.
- James (8/5): - Average rooms, a bit cramped but dining room was very good.
- Robert (6/5): Not such a good Ibis. - We stayed here twice within 2 weeks, the first on our way to our holiday then again on our return. I have stayed in many Ibis Hotels and have been very pleased with them but this one is very basic. The room we stayed in on our first night the room had no carpet just a heavy lino, no kettle to make any hot drinks, only one small pre shaped wooden chair and the toilet has to be one of the lowest I have had to sit on and when you have bad knees it does no help. The room we had on our return was better as we did have a carpet and a small settee to sit on. Although the pre booked price was quite cheap and did not include Breakfast which we paid separately and for 2 of us this came to 23 Euros.
- Katharine (8/5): Friendly staff. - This Ibis was clean and basic. I would really appreciate tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms. Breakfast was good but a shame that there is no cheaper Express option during the whole breakfast period. Staff were friendly. Restaurant was good.
- Stephen (6/5): Good for travellers passing through. - We were there 2 nights to cycle and watch the Tour, good food, comfortable beds.
Enlivened by the Saxo Tinkoff and Movistar teams staying there too!
- Sandra (6/5): A nice Hotel with no family rooms. - This Hotel do not have family rooms although I thought I had booked one according to my Expedia confirmation (two adults and two children).
Upon arrival the receptionist told me that only one room had been booked for two people. A third bed could be put in the room, but the room wasn't bit enough for two adults and two children. The receptionist was really helpful and apologised for the error and said she would be referring this mistake back to her head office.
After speaking to her manager she offered us two rooms next door to each other at a discounted price, although it was still more than my original booking! The rooms would be next to each other but without a connecting door.
As it was already late and my children were very tired we agreed, but this was not an ideal arrangement.
The rooms were clean and tidy and the beds very comfortable. I wouldn't hesitate to book an IBIS hotel again, but will be double checking next time if they have family rooms before travelling.
- Tricia (8/5): A good night stop! - Very convenient stop enroute to the South . Pleasant simple quiet and appropriate.
- Verified traveler (6/5): not as advertised - it stated mini bar,coffee/tea facilities, safe in room and we had none of these, but only there 1 night so did not complain
