Guest Reviews
- Daiana (10/5): - The hotel is located right in the middle of Santorini so is a good location to go either to Oia or Akrotiri ruins. The hotel staff contacted me to make arrangements for the port pickup and also so rent a car. It was a piece of mind as once you get to port is very expensive to get an uber. The hospitality levels are great!. I enjoyed my stay.
- Mark (10/5): A Wonderful Stay - People at the hotel were wonderful. I highly recommend this hotel. 5 stars!!
- Barbara (10/5): - Ottima accoglienza e bellissima colazione al mattino
Bon rapport qualite prix.
- Chiara (10/5): - Nice service
- Shali (8/5): - Lovely staff but there was only one ac unit that barely covered the bedroom.
- Jeaninne (10/5): - The staff were very attentive and very accommodating. I loved the location with lots of places to eat nearby. The breakfast was great , nothing special but something to get you going.
- Matthew (8/5): - Lovely, clean, well situated property for exploring Santorini. Staff were welcoming and pleasant throughout our stay.
Our room was spacious and relatively quiet despite being close to the road and main car park area.
Breakfast choice was a little limited but everything provided was good quality and fresh.
- Leane (10/5): - Great location! Centered in the village of Pyrgos this hotel was near shops and restaurants and just a quick ATV ride to wineries, beaches and sunset views! Super clean hotel with friendly and helpful staff that keep us coming back every time we visit Santorini.
- Lars-Gunnar (10/5): Friendly place in Pyrgos - Centrally located and very nice place i Pyrgos, Santorini. The staff is helpful and the breakfast well balanced. The beds are however hard. Some may like this but we don't.
- Lars (10/5): - Personl
- Nicole (4/5): Bad experience - Not so good, not Hot water. Tried email them to fix The problem they didnt replay
- Liz (10/5): A very warm welcome! - We stayed here for one night on our way to another island. We had a fabulous view from our balcony and the room was peaceful and really clean. The breakfast was amazing, and the two receptionists, Anastasia and Eleni, were extremely friendly and helpful. Great air conditioning in the main area, the only improvement might be a fan in the bedroom.
- Martin (10/5): Great place! - Everything from reception to restaurant recommendations to the quiet and comfort of the room were all just perfect.
- Heidi (10/5): - Huippu henkilökunta, hyvällä paikalla ja kreikkalais tyylinen.
- Kean (10/5): - Very friendly staff! They can help you to arrange car rental or private ride with price lower than expedia. They help you save luggage for free. Very quite place. The house itself will provide you enough features to take beautiful pictures for your new profile show!
- Fayzan (2/5): No AC - NO Internet - Very bad, i would never go to such a place. My AC and Internet, both were out and it was such a hot day. The person in the reception didnt know what to do in this situation. Its a shady place in between other small apartments. I absolutely wont recommend it.
- Otto (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay very much and will indeed stay at cultura house again.
- Jonathan (10/5): Great place to stay - Great place to stay. The location is in the middle of Pyrgos with a couple of mini markets and plenty of restaurants in a short walk.
Staff were friendly and helpful when i requested some things for my room. Some water was also provided before my arrival.
The Room came with a Fridge, coffee machine (no kettle), TV and air con.
The shower was good as well, better than most.
There is plenty of parking near by, i was able to park right outside of the front door.
- Elisabeth (10/5): - Cute spaces, across from the bus stop. Good view, lots of space, amenities.
- Verified traveler (10/5):
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beutiful place clean and people was really nice walking distance from the churches and bus stop around the corner
Nous demandons 2 choses à Giorgios;
Fuyez !
- FinnHove (10/5): - Big and clean rooms, nice views, nice village, short distance to good restaurants
- Joseph H. (10/5): Stay in Santorini - Santorinii has lots of steps. Also lots if cats and dogs.
Breakfast was delivered to the door and was excellent. Host was very helpful in making taxi arrangements for very early flight.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very quuet... Full breakfast was hand delivered... Close to ferry...
- Ederle (8/5): A so lovely place! - A wonderdul welcomeness!
A lot of advices given that i recommand you to follow
The home made breakfast in the room is a muche aporeciated added value!
Car or motobike is needed but the hotel can manage the point for you
- James (10/5): - Maria, our host, was very helpful in arranging tours, taxis, etc. and made repeated calles to our ferry line to see if the ferry was operating in spite of a national transportation strike. It was. The room was fine and the bag-lunch style breakfast, was ample and there was some variety from day to day. We asked for and were loaned a water boiler and were able to have tea or instant coffee with the breakfast.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Other reviews on Expedia about this place are accurate. This particular Village was less crowded so if you'd like to avoid the crowds of oia this is the place to be. Breakfast provided was absolutely delicious and the room was very clean. The staff are polite and respectful and happy to help.
Personale disponibile e cordiale.
Letto comodo e grazioso balcone all'entrata.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We recommend this property, Maria and her staff were extremely nice and friendly and made our stay at this hotel very pleasant. The hotel is close to the bus stop and we were able to go to Fira by bus, where we got another bus to Oia (Eea)
The hotel area is very quiet and we enjoyed it very much indeed.
Voto 7 pieno
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Host is very hospitable and breakfast is delicious.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Struttura carina situata in un paese caratteristico.
- Praveen (10/5): - Excellent communications with manager. Clean, friendly, great breakfast, close to airport. Cutest village, calm and amazing friendly locals. Great cafes/restaurants/markets nearby. Away from crowds, yet easily to get around.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Pros
-beautiful view
-spacious
-delicious breakfast (with the exception of nothing being able to eat the delicious looking yogurt since all utensils are rusted)
Cons
-walls are paper thin (no soundproofing whatsoever). All night you hear dogs barking and people talking until 4am. 4am till 8am are more dogs barking and church chimes ringing
-the sink is a lot smaller than it appears. Only used for washing hands if that. Not your face. More of a “bird bath”
-understand that when showering everything in the bathroom will get wet! EVERYTHING from the toilet what’s around the sink and entire floor. There is no covering
-the room is a hike to get to. Many many many steps. It was a killer with luggages’.
-utensils to eat with if you have complimentary breakfast won’t be used because all of them are rusted. Every single one.
-communication is tough. Maria answers through WhatsApp however feel like she’s barely in the office. So if you need things it may be a wait.
-cleaning: replaced towels every two days is what we were told however if it wasn’t for constant messaging and going downstairs to let her know in advance, we wouldn’t have our towels changed or more toilet paper.
- Joetta (10/5): - We had a very late flight, but Maria arranged for our driver that night, breakfast the next morning, and driver the next afternoon. Loved everything about this stay!!
- AJB (10/5): - The rooms were very clean and had great accommodations. Maria was helpful with all of our travel plans and very accommodating.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I liked everything, amazing people, great help. I’ll definitely come back . Thank you for everything!
- Karim A. (10/5): Perfect honeymoon Stay - First - Maria and Donna made the stay at cultural house absolutely fantastic. Pyrgos is a quiet city that is centrally located, which we really enjoyed as we would get on our ATV and go on adventures everyday. Maria and Donna took extremely good care of us, setting us up with transportation when necessary and also having the ATV delivered to our door. Every morning we would grab coffee at Johnnys cafe (2 minute walk) and usually end our day with a glass of wine there. There are a couple restaurants walking distance away from the house. In summary - I travel a lot for business , and the care and hospitality of Maria and Donna is a major reason I would stay at Cultural House again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Only stayed briefly for overnight dash to ferry onwards. Not even time for breakfast. But was clean and tidy with efficient service. Bed was very hard.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The place is centrally located in Pyrgos, mall owing easy walks to many restaurants and sights.
- Ken&Jan (10/5): - The staff were all so very gracious and thoughtful. Maria was exceptionally helpful and bubbly. My wife and I give the culture House and it's staff a 10+
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice villa near Pyrgos Square. The set up of the bathroom is a little odd and the bed is slightly rough, but it has everything you need. Breakfast included. Plenty of space. What I would like to commend the most is the property owner, Maria. The main desk is only open certain hours. My flight to Santorini was delayed and the owner happily stuck around to check us in. There was also basically a wind storm in Santorini the day I had to check out. I left for the airport in the morning and the left the key in the room, around 4am and sent her a message saying we were leaving. Unfortunately, the weather knocked something down because we didn't have wifi or a working phone. Nevertheless, when we got the airport we found out that our flight was cancelled because of the weather. We wouldn't be leaving for another 12 hours. It was only 7 am then, so I sent Maria a message saying that I would like to come back and stay in the room till checkout time. The room was right as we'd left it. Furthermore, when I came down at 12:30 to check out, Maria explained to us that her line was also down and told us we should feel free to stay until our flight, at no extra charge. Also, that she could arrange transportation to pick up us for our flight. Then, later sent us free breakfast. Overall, just exceptional customer service. She really made what could have been, and partially was, a tough day, so much more manageable. Very friendly, understanding, and helpful owner.
- Sarah (6/5): Great location - The Cultural House is located in a great location and the room was very nice. They prepared a great breakfast each morning, which was a great extra.
That said, I am disappointed with the level of communication I received from the owner. After checking in she told me I needed to pay for my room - which I did months earlier. Then, rather than answering my question about whether I could change my non-refundable reservation, she told me to call Hotels.com/ Expedia. When I did, she didn't answer the phone when they called her - I was in the other room and could hear the phone ringing from both sides. As a note to management, I would have rather have had a no from her and saved time, than have gotten the run around about it.
The last issue was that the internet was really poor in my room for most of my stay, which was a problem because I was working while traveling. I ended up going down to a nearby cafe to do work which was not ideal.
- Vy-Thao (10/5): - Bed was very hard, but the hostess was very nice! Breakfast delivered to room was amazing. Love it.
- Renae (10/5): Great Hotel! - Great staff, super helpful! Charming apartment with balcony where we sat and ate breakfast every morning while enjoying the view! Central location to everything on the island. We stayed 5 nights and will go back to Cultural House if we are lucky enough to visit Santorini again!
- Carl (10/5): Friendly and Helpful - A good location in the center of the island. The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff was outstanding! It is older and not in pristine condition but overall we highly recommend it.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Not bad ! - not a perfect conditions in the toilet, no window in it therefore easily get wet all around...breakfast not too many options, location is good for first arrived to santorini
- Lauren S. (10/5): Great location and receptionist was 5 stars herself. - I really enjoyed my stay! Katherine the receptionist was helpful, she would call transfers for us. Walked us through the process of buying ferry tickets at the travel agency in Fira, and accommodated our vegetarian breakfast request. The room was clean and basically everything you need. Staying in Pyrgos was the best decision we could have made much more quiet then Fira and Oia with the bus loads of tourists. She recommend a traditional taverna 100 ft from our room which we ended up going to both nights. I would definitely stay there again and again.
- Oscar (10/5): Great if you want to do Santorini on a budget! - Lovely part of Santorini! Everyone wants to stay in Oía, but it's expensive! Stay here in pyrgos where there are many shops and restaurants to eat from. Watch the sunset from the top of the hill at a local cafe. We were very surprised with the value that the hotel provided. Breakfast in the morning, clean rooms, excellent customer service!
- Verified traveler (8/5): spacious place - Spacious home with great complimentary breakfast and close to Pyrgos center.
- Timothy (10/5): - Great value. Very good host. Large tasty breakfast. Well appointed rooms in a pretty, well connected village.
- Verified traveler (10/5): A great find! - Great place. Friendly staff. Could not have been nicer!
- Laura (10/5): Excellent choice - The hotel was very good, has a terrace with a wonderful view, rooms were clean and confortable, staff were amigable and spoke various languages.
- John (2/5): - I got off the plane late and was taken to the hotel. Come to find out that the receptionist was gone. Two numbers were left on the door. The lady had her cell phone off and no one was sitting in the lobby. I couldn’t get into the hotel. I had to search for 3 hours on a hotel that would take me last minute. Don’t book with this hotel ever!!!!
- Joanne M. (10/5): Charming and traditional inn, central santorini local - We loved, loved, loved Cultural House. Incredibly friendly and hospitable staff, clean and comfortable rooms, great breakfast. I loved the Pyrgos location, it was really easy to get everywhere in santorini in 10 minutes with a car. I would only stay hear if I went to santorini again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Island beaches, hikes, food, shopping, driving, sunsets, views.
- keith (10/5): little gem of a place - this is a little gem of a place lives up to its name run by a lovely lady, and the complimentary breakfast excellent, the only down side it was located on a really busy junction
- Michael (10/5): Undervalued - Take this hotel if it's available - Hard to believe the value you get on this place. Rooms are just as shown in the pics.
What I loved:
- cleanliness
- service
- breakfast
- water pressure
What I didn't live
- seriously. My wife and I put our heads together on this one and couldn't come up with anything.
My opinion on this hotel is that the prices can't stay this low for long as this place racks up on good reviews. Take it if it's available. You won't go wrong on this one.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel, great location - I enjoyed my stay with the great views and very friendly staff. They gave very good tips about what to do etc. The only problem I had was sleeping at night. There are dogs in the surrounding area that bark through the night. I guess they sleep outside.
- julie (10/5): Nice Hotel Friendly - Lovely stay here ,very clean our room could do with a new shower head but that did stop us . You do need some transport not near a beach or either a swimming pool ,car hire or quad bike to see the island . Euro not good so very prices . Would go back but when the euro is good .
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice and simple - We only spent one night, but have no complaints. The staff were friendly, the room was fine (small bathroom, but has the necessities) and the breakfast was good. The village is pretty, but not as well located as Parikia or Naoussa, as it is not on the coast.
- VICTOR (8/5): Quaint small hotel in under-rated hilltop location - Stayed 2 nights in Pyrgos at beginning and end of holiday in this medieval hill top village. Very charming and picturesque with great views of the island and magical sunsets. The hotel is quaint, unsophisticated, but comfortable for short stays. Staff are friendly and obliging, but kindly note the Reception is only open from 10am to 5pm, although there is an emergency out of hours number for Irene who manages the place.
- shirani (8/5): - Nice hotel, the room was big, beautiful and very clean but the shower was very small, when you take a shower your elbows all the time hit the faucet.
Our room had a balcony with a beautiful view. The stuff were nice and helpfull.
In addition the reception is not open as writing in the website, if you want to leave your bags you have to check that the reception would be open.
