- James (9/5): Very satisfied and would stay here again. - The mixed Japanese and Western breakfast choices met our expectations. They were very well presented and serviced. While some Western items were missing (toast), this was a Japanese train station hotel which provided sufficiently for the small number of foreigners. I think they did an admirable job. Everything went well - no complaints that come to mind - as a Vegetarian, this hotel did its best to accommodate our wishes but in general, Japan is VERY difficult for vegetarians due to the culture of using fish broth and meat in almost all dishes. This hotel is no better or worse in this - moreover, they made special efforts to modify menus to meet our wishes - this is rare in Japan and was appreciated..

The front side rooms face the Fukuyama Castle which is a beautiful sight especially at night. Excellent and very efficient staff. The room was good size, clean, quiet, good bedding, all necessary supplies provided. Well priced and great value.

- Boro1507 (6/5): A Good Hotel in Fukuyama - This is a good hotel in Fukuyama. It has a great location, excellent views of the castle, and is located right next to the station. The breakfast is good with a traditional Japanese option as well as a western option. The rooms are small, which is typical for Japan, but are fine. The staff are very welcoming and though I speak Japanese they are able to communicate very well in English. The room levels have vending machines and ice machines which is convenient.

- ??? (10/5): - 子供の行事ごとで前日から前乗りしました。会場まで近い場所で決めましたが、すごくよかったです。車で行ったので駅周辺などのこだわりは無かったですが駅にも近くお土産屋さんもあり。すこし時間もあったので周辺をぶらぶらしました。夜はゆっくりホテルのビュッフェにしましたがスタッフのかたもすごく感じが良くて親切でした。お酒を飲む方は飲み放題もあり旦那が凄く満足そうでした。お料理も種類もあり美味しいと思います。

- Quentin (4/5): All the potential to be great but sadly disappointing due to unfortunate factors - The view of Fukuyama Castle and station is great. Room was quite comfortable. Fukuyama New. Castle Hotel has seen better days. It smacks of former glory, now faded. Perhaps this is why, instead of closing the hotel for refurbishment, they chose to surreptitiously drill on the ground floor right around 10.45 p.m. on Saturday night, when they guessed most of the guests would be well asleep. Unfortunately for us, we were just drifting off when the drilling started. It was distant but penetrating and vibrating, and appeared somewhat furtive, stopping after about 30 seconds for a pause, presumably in the hope that no one would notice if they were not too noisy about their drilling. Two of us, in two separate rooms, phoned reception several times to complain about the noise. The reception staff lied to one of us, saying that it must be from nearby roadworks although we hadn't seen any roadworks, but finally admitted that they were drilling on the ground floor. One goes to a hotel to sleep, so the idea of finding that your hotel is undertaking renovations at night so they they don't have to close is ludicrous. We booked two rooms, each for two adults and one child. Although each room had a sofa bed in it, the bed was not made up, and when we asked why this was, they told us to pay for bedding for the sofa bed. The booking was for three people per room and yet they didn’t want to provide us with the bedding for the third bed unless we paid extra for it. In the end they relented, but only after arguing about it. We used the laundry room on the fourth floor, which was very confusing and required staff to unlock the machines. The room decor was also rather tired and could do with a makeover, although it all functioned adequately. Booking.com said that no refund would be given for the fact that our night's sleep was completely disrupted. Is this a hotel or a joke? It all rather smacks of Fawlty Towers. We do not recommend. Try the Daiwa Roynet Hotel next door - it's excellent.

- Joseph Louis (10/5): - I’ve been going to this hotel for years. I took the cheapest room this time, which said it was noisy, but it wasn’t at all! Bathroom is quite wide, bed is comfortable, and it was really quiet. Staff was wonderful and very accommodating. It’s an older hotel that is quite famous in that area. Definitely would stay again.
