• Gita (8/5): - Lovely garden and restaurant area, nice food, friendly staff and atmosphere. Rooms are in attractive separate villas, spacious and well-equipped. Open air bathrooms but plenty of mosquito sticks provided to keep the mosquitoes away (which worked). The beach is a couple of 100 metres along a grassy path and is beautiful and largely empty. There was very little beach seating. More comfortable seating and sun loungers on the beach would have been welcome. The villas are all enclosed within a walled off garden, which makes them very private but also no view from the room.

• Amit (10/5): Wonderful day with family. - The resort is a stone throw away from the beach. Beach is clean and well maintained sandy beach. Resort itself is is very well maintained and great ambience in the middle of greenery and well maintained gardens. Kids had lot of fun doing palm leaf crafts , cycling , kayak and paddle boating. The kite flying in the beach kept them engaged. The common swimming pool was very clean and great for the kids. They really enjoyed it. Food was great. Chef personally greeted us to understand our preferences as we are vegetarians. He tried to accomodate as much as possible. Breakfast was brilliant as well with local food to continental. Staff were very courteous and helpful and kept good care ofnthe guests. Overall a great experience and we would definitely love to visit again in future. Option for vegetarian food could have been better. But they clearly explained that this is because of the contingency measures taken due to LPG shortage as a result of the war.

• Nathalie (10/5): Un des meilleurs séjours - L’accueil, le personnel aux petits soins, la villa avec piscine privée très très agréable, les multiples détails pour notre anniversaire de mariage, la nature partout sans déranger, les activités proposées et la proximité de la plage. Un lieu magique où nous ne manquerons pas de retourner. Le séjour trop court ne nous a pas permis de profiter plus amplement des installations comme le spa. Nous aurions voulu rallonger notre séjour mais les prix avaient flambé.

• Ulrike (10/5): Erholung pur im Paradies - Erholung pur in einem wunderschönen kleinen Haus mit Aussendusche und eigenem Garten mit Pool und Hängematte und Meerzugang vom Hotelgrundstück aus. Das hübsche Restaurant bietet ein köstliches und vielfältiges, täglich wechselndes Buffet mit Gemüse aus dem hauseigenen Garten, mit Milch von Kerala-Rindern, die in der kleinen Farm leben, Eiern von den dort frei laufenden Hühnern. Rojan, der Koch, grillte frischen Fisch, z.B. mit Thymian oder Rind, jeweils lecker mariniert und bereitete Eier ganz nach Wunsch zum Frühstück. Im Service verwöhnen Angel, Anandhu, Adarsh und andere freundliche und sehr zuvorkommende Menschen uns Gäste und lesen einem die Wünsche von den Augen ab. Sie servieren uns auch die gewünschten Speisen vom Buffet. Alles in allem ein außergewöhnlicher Service. Abends am Strand hatten wir viel Spaß beim Kite-Fly und Godson und Stalin bastelten die Drachen für uns und halfen beim Start und unterstützten uns, bis wir endlich selbst erfolgreich die Lüfte eroberten mit unseren Drachen. Ein großes Vergnügen! Mehrere ayurvedische Anwendungen mit Massagen, Kräuterstempeln, Stirnguss waren sehr wohltuend und befreiten mich von den Schmerzen nach dem Bruch des Beckenknochens und waren hilfreich für die Heilung. Schließlich organisierte der Concierge einen Ausflug in die Backwaters. Wir wurden vom TukTuk Richtung Alleppey gefahren und stiegen dort auf ein Tagesboot für eine 3-stündige Fahrt, auch durch kleine Kanäle der Backwaters.
• Susan (10/5): A beautiful and serene place to relax by the beach. - I cant praise this place enough. The staff are amazing. The rooms are huge and our own pool was an added bonus. The outisde bathrooms are really private and worked very well. The grounds and shared pool are stunning with copious butterflies stunning plants and birdlife. The beach is unspoilt and very quiet. The food was amazing. Plenty of à la carte choices as well as a nightly buffet. Daily tea and snacks are a lovely touch. The massage and facials are excellent and half hour treatments are offered at a very reasonable price. A perfect place to relax by the beach after hectic travelling The only thing was that it may have been better to have yoga a little later than 7 but i suppose it would be too hot to have it later

• Saravanan (10/5): An holistic experience at Xandari pearl! - Good food worth the wait, they understand your needs and are resposive , they provided a buggy and wheel chair for my mother who had operated both her knees and we were able to take her around wherever we went around the property,. we literally explored all the featers of xandari, starting from yoga at the beach, kite flying, watering the organic garden, , cycling,massage at the spa, volley ball, visit to their dairy farm, paddle boating & kayaking at their pond and watching the sunset at the beach .it was an wonderful experience. wishing the entire team at xandari the very best!
• Sebastian (6/5): Beautiful hotel facilities, but in our opinion the price-performance ratio is too expensive. - The hotel has a beautiful garden, which is lovingly and extensively maintained every day. The swimming pool is very nice and there are many and comfortable sunbed at the pool. The food in the hotel is very tasty and the rooms are very large and spacious. There is free tea/coffee and a snack at the pool every day. The staff are friendly. The beach is public and the hotel does not provide sunbeds, only 4 camping chairs with parasols - a pity for a beach hotel. The waves are very strong - this should be better signposted by the hotel. The hotel's live guard sits far away from the sea and you have to be very careful when swimming in the sea. The staff were very friendly, but there were regularly 4 service staff standing together in a group and chatting, so that if, for example, a fork was missing or you wanted a refill of water, you had to wait a very long time and gesticulate wildly until someone responded at all, which should not be the case in an, by Indian standards, very expensive hotel. The prices for alcohol are considerable, and you pay about three times the price for a beer in the hotel complex as you would if you could enjoy it in a local beach restaurant with much more attentive service. The hotel once lent us 5 euros in cash from its till to pay the tuk tuk driver and insisted that we pay this amount back in cash on departure. From a hotel of this class, you would expect the hotel to be able to add such a ridiculous amount to the hotel bill. However, this was not possible. Massage took 45 instead of paid 60 minutes. Yoga only at 7am, teacher does not participate herself, but only talks to guests. What disappointed us the most, was that the hotel did not let our Uber driver in the hotel area when we left, but had him wait on the street outside the gate. We were approached by a very aggressive, wildly talking alleged taxi driver who claimed that Uber was illegal in Kerala and that we had to travel to the airport with him for double the price. We found the situation extremely unpleasant and went back to the hotel to ask for help. We were not offered any assistance and the hotel staff remained passive. This is particularly disappointing as we had already read the identical scenario in another booking review and the hotel promised not to let such a scenario happen again.

We were asked to walk around with our card and pay for everything as we went due to their financial year end. Following day as we were due to celebrate, found alcohol wasn’t allowed on that day only. None communicated to us ahead of time. River in the middle of the property full of rubbish.

The air conditioning was very inefficient in the room. Restaurant and bar poorly stocked. Inadequate WiFi. The food was well prepared but almost always cold on arrival.

• Renju (10/5): Beautiful vacation at Xandari Pearl - Xandari Pearl at Maraari is a gem of a place. We are a family of 4 and stayed for 2 nights during October, 2023. Beautiful and well-blended with the natural habitat, extremely clean with large open areas, the resort is the perfect place for a peaceful vacation. Cottages are very good and spacious, the staff behaviour stands out for their courtesy, and positive energy. They have a small natural lake inside the property, where we tried paddle boats and kayaking. Another surprise was the food on offer. All the meals were excellent, tasty. Try out their salads, yum. Kudos to the chef and the kitchen team. The beach access is a pleasant add-on. I would definitely go back for more. Nothing much to complain about. The cycles on offer were a bit run down, especially the kids ones. If that can be taken care, would be great.

Staff are so humble, friendly and lovely. The plunge pool within the villa is well maintained. There is a cattle farm, veggie garden, play area and bikes within the property, kids will love it! Private beach access is perfect! The room lacks character, it’s massive and sort of empty but it’s no problem. The real let down is the lack of branded toiletries and bed sheets in the room. For a premium hotel with steep prices, you would expect that they would supply some good quality toiletries, premium bed sheets and pillow cases. Sheets were yellow and not fresh smelling.

Rooms very comfortable with nice outdoor shower. Very good experience with Shimla and his team at the restaurant. The spa was very nice, too. We called an Uber to leave the hotel. Upon arriving, the hotel’s gate keeper would not open for our car. Within moments a taxi approached and the driver started intimidating us claiming that Uber was illegal in the area and would not let us board the vehicle. We used Uber all over India, including Kerala, and did not have similar issues before. We explained that we can take any vehicle of our choice and that we prefer Uber for its safety features. The driver would not let go, and the hotel security guard remained inactive. The situation felt very intimidating and threatening and there was zero support from the hotel staff. We asked the uber driver to cancel the trip since the situation felt very unsafe and intimidating. Shame that this hotel colludes with the local taxi mafia and doesn’t have its backyard under control. This incidence killed the otherwise pleasant experience.

• Joshua (9/5): Amazing experience - Easily one of the best rooms i have ever stayed in. Very spacious and amazing comfort. Food was good. The sell out factor was the proximity to the beach and safe to say we had a wonderful experience at the beach. The roofless bathrooms are underrated, calming. The common bathroom near the swimming pool was not maintained well and it was mood killer when we visited as that was the first thing we entered even before going into our rooms. A mouse came into our bathroom during the visit but the staff were able to remove.

• Santhosh (9/5): We were looking at multiple option glad that we zeroed in on Xandari. - The stay was lovely, the staffs were very courteous. The facilities exceeded our expectations. The place was well-kept and stocked. Some more options for Non-veg, otherwise no complaints.

• Simon (8/5): It was very relaxing and all the staff were really helpful and friendly. - The location was stunning and the rooms were laid out really well. The staff couldn't have been more helpful or freindly or accommodating. The proximity to the beach was really good. The grounds of the resort were beautiful, with the various gardens, mini farms, ponds etc spread out well. The restaurant's menu was good but never changed, so if you were staying for more than a couple of nights it was a bit limiting. The food was good but not amazing, although the kitchen staff were brilliant at providing food with no chilli in it for our 10 yer old daughter. The pool was really clean but a slightly odd shape and felt a bit crammed in next to the restaurant.

• Alexander (6/5): very mixed - staff and food great but the potential is undermined by poor processes and systems overall for the price di - The staff throughout were very friendly. the food in the restaurant was excellent. for the price wasn’t good value. Their systems and processes are inefficient. things take so long. very poor quality drinks and nothing was chilled including water constantly had to ask for ice with everything. mosquitoes a major problem especially when you had to ‘run a gauntlet’ in the room outside shower and toilet facilities. We appreciate the appeal of the tranquility etc however there was NOTHING to do in the area in terms of strolling outside. the beach was lovely but littered with rubbish don’t know why the local authorities don’t have it cleaned.
• Londontravellers (9/5): Four star resort that felt more like five star - Buffet breakfast spread was good, as was the lovely tea cart on the grass in the afternoons. All kinds of details were thought about from toiletries to umbrella, yoga mats and beach mats. There were vsrious small activities-like table tennis, bikes and pedaloes to aid relaxation. The cottages were done to a high spec and were well catered for. Staff were very likeable and helpful. Our favourite was the gardener! It was hard to pay the hotel using uk credit cards or bank transfer. Even the credit card of an Indian national was refused - a bit alarming as payment was required in advance to secure the room. The lack of a liquor licence meant no spirits were served, so no g&t before supper. Wine snd beer were available but not on the 1st of the month which is dry generally. It would have been good to have had notice of that!
• Gearty (10/5): Magic! - We had a wonderful, relaxing stay at Xandari Pearl. The resort is a nature lovers paradise. The rooms are comfortable, spotless and really well designed. We were so well looked after by the kind, courteous staff. The food was really tasty and I especially enjoyed the buffet evenings. The complimentary afternoon tea/coffee and snacks were great. Sunsets on Marari Beach were unforgettable. The ayurveda massage was amazing. Would love to return. Perhaps a few more daily specials on the menu on a la carte evenings.

• Petra (10/5): Nature friendly, guest friendly oasis near beach - What an amazing place, wish I had stayed longer. Villas (27 total) are nice and quite spacious with own little garden and outdoor bathroom. A lot of activities can be done like table tennis, yoga, volleybal. etc. The common pool is mildly salt water better for skin. Also nice clean beach nearby. The food is beyond fantastic, very nice, a lot organic from their own farm, as well as milk from own cow. Above all all Staff are extremely friendly and go beyond to accommodate anything. An oasis, highly recommended. The shower doesn’t give a constant flow of water nor temperature. But hey, all the amazing rest definitely make up for this.
