- Joseph (8/5): - The location is perfect with the golf course right next door and sitting up on the hill overlooking the harbor. The restaurant serves wonderful meals, one of the best lobster bisque we’ve ever had. The wrap around porch is awesome with heaters. In saying all this, the inn needs some TLC. Our room had paint chipping on the walls and all around the shower. The shower head was awful. There isn’t a main door to the front desk and the one our driver brought us in was like we were walking into a shed, very weird . We will go back to the restaurant but we wouldn’t stay over.

A little pricey, and the shared bathrooms (for the entire floor) were not ideal. This is a step back in time so you are there for the experience, a nice stay at an historic hotel property.

Food and drinks were great. Good value overall. The plantings around the porch are too high, obscuring the great view in many places. We didn't receive housekeeping while we were there. The bikes were unsafe (brakes didn't work) - better not to provide them.

The rooms desperately need updating even just to replace rusty furniture. The room also wasn't very clean, including noticeable amounts of hair on the floor and a greasy mirror hanging in the bedroom.

The rooms are small but clean and available with or without private baths. The inn offers a restaurant with excellent farm/sea to table menu options. The wrap around porch provides amazing sunset views and views of the harbor and golf course. Spotty WIFI and no TV’s ……. So don’t come if you need to be high-speed connected but a great place to tune-out for a couple days!!!!

The staff were lovely and the inn was just charming old world. Loved the large wicker chairs on the decks and the absolutely gorgeous sitting room with its big fire. We would have liked to use the bikes but they had no gears and looked a bit run down. Just a small comment amongst an overall memorable stay.

- Verified traveler (6/5): - The check-in process is very unique. If you are one to check-in late, i recommend not to even stay on the island. We called a couple weeks in advance, no return calls. Called when we got on the ferry to get more info, no amswer again. The ferry dropped us off, thankfully after hauling our luggage up the hill, the Inn was the only building with lights on within sight. Reception, my teenagers are better with lunch guests at our home. I wish them luck. It seems you either are used to island, or you learn by fire, i recommend to stay in old orchard beach, its where we will probably stay next time. First and last.
- ANGELA (10/5): - We loved our visit. It was Like going back in time. However, you do need to allow time for the Ferry ride to the island and plan around that. We left from Portland which was an 1 1/2 hours to the island. Chebeague Bay was beautiful, relaxing and peaceful. Just what we needed.

The total for the two nights was almost $700.00. Our bar and food bill was nearly 500.00. You need to pay $30.00 to park for two nights and 16.00$ per person R/T for the ferry. The island real estate is privately owned and the are no sandy beaches. I took my walks on the pavement..not ideal. There are many more beautiful islands to visit in Maine. We're moving on next time.

The Chebeague Island Inn is a beautiful, quaint inn settled on a hill overlooking the ocean. The Inn has extremely clean rooms along with majestic garden and ocean views. Excellent service and a carefully thought out menu featuring locally sourced food. Easy to bike the entire island , beaches everywhere and very kind staff to familiarize you with island life. A memorable overnight stay..we will be back !

Old bed and way too soft, saw shoe marks all over the white painted floors. Doors had to slammed to shut properly. Enjoyed smores over the fire and great view of stars. If we returned we would probably not stay at the hotel anywhere around the summer. Very disappointed that there was no pool to use on a 90F+ day (no life guards available at rec center) or any kayaks to rent anywhere on the island. If we were to do again we would have a meal or two there and enjoy the porch, My husband nor I would stay overnight again.

- Kim (6/5): - Basically a really expensive night of dorm style living. There was a sink in the room but the toilets and showers were common/shared. It would have been fine had they been clean and kept up (aka have staff check in on them every hour) but that was not the case. When my boyfriend and I went to dinner and came back to our room someone had, evidently, come in and prepared our bed for the evening (rolled the blankets down, took pillows off the bed, etc.) which I felt should have been mentioned at check-in. There was no air conditioning - which could be uncomfortable in warmer temperatures. I also found the staff to be a little snooty. The building and property is beautiful but definitely not what I expected based on the website.

The staff were extremely helpful and tended to our needs. Dinner in the dining room was fabulous. And the island was fun to explore on the inn's bikes.
- george (8/5): Not much to complain about... - It should first be said that it is the only hotel on the island. But aside from that, it is really a beautiful experience. It would be nice if the rooms were slightly larger and have private bathrooms. But once you go past that, not much to complain about. We also experience the hottest part of summer of 2108 there and... for the first time ever we missed not having air conditioning in the room.

Breakfasts were more than enough. Service was very slow especially at dinner. Bikes are there for your pleasure to explore the island or they will give you a tour. If you want total peace and quiet where you want to totally relax, this is the place. Grounds were beautiful.

I for one was very happy with everything, especially considering the age and history of the property. Friendly, helpful staff. Very clean room (understandably small).. shared bathroom was well maintained, and I never crossed paths with another guest. Great dining, fantistic views. My most relaxing, best memory after a long trip from California Highly recommeded. Hope I can come back someday. Thanks.

- Jacqueline (10/5): Excellent old time inn - This is a very nice old time inn. We were in a smallish room with shared bath but it was fine as I never met anyone in the shared bath. The smallish room was OK as it reflects how buildings were built in the day. Linens and towels and toiletries were top notch. The restaurant was very good and the service was friendly and responsive. We used the inn's bicycles to ride around the island. Very easy with gentle hills. There is no TV but good wifi and also many games available in the lounge. We ended up playing dominoes for a couple of hours and enjoyed the change of pace.

Lovely grounds and old historic inn, very relaxing time on the beautiful porch overlooking the water, perfect morning for yoga on the lawn, very pleasant and helpful staff. Dinners on the screened in porch were delicious. Would love to return. Our room with shared bath was tastefully decorated, but very small and little room for our luggage/belongings.
- chris (8/5): - Room as good as expected for remote New England location. This is about getting away from it all. You don't need to spend any time in the room. There is massive lodge with fire place, extensive gardens and a wonderful porch to gaze across the bay from.
- Kyle (6/5): Disappointing island accommodation - Room that we booked was not as advertised...no twin beds,but trundle bed which was not made up upon arrival.The receptionist was unaccommodating. We had to wait until next day to move to new rooms,at additional upcharge. Our original room was falsely advertised as overlooking gardens, in reality it was overlooking the trash cans and food exhaust vans.We came over a thousand miles,and we were so disappointed w/lack of service and very little interest in righting their wrongs. Quite expensive which we were okay with since it was out on an island,but to be treated so poorly was inexcusable.The inn was very nice, but from the RUDE bellhop who picked us up@ the ferry,to several of the other staff,we think that the owners need to be aware of the indifference of the staff...they ruined our stay.As a former owner of an inn myself(14 plus years),I would hope the owners would appreciate this info.
- linda (10/5): Exceptional staff - Very warm ,inviting experience,every staff members we encountered were interested in making our stay a stay to remember and they succeeded.The dining experience was exceptional from service to presentation to taste. The Inn ,s porch is large and loaded with big comfy wicker to take off your shoes and put your feet up while sipping wine or munching on hot from the oven cookies generously passed to each guest during the afternoon. A roaring fire in the over sized stone fireplace after dinner put the perfect finishing touch to our day.

- Verified traveler (6/5): No Food at the Inn?? - Arrived off the ferry at noon not expecting to be able to check in, but definitely assuming we would be seated for lunch. My wife and I, along with two other couples who arrived the same time as us, were told there were two large parties in the restaurant at the hotel and the staff could not serve us...at all! This was very disappointing. We were directed to another "restaurant" (the only other on the island!) for lunch down by the harbor and no reservations were needed. With a positive attitude, we hopped on the "complimentary" bikes and headed to the harbor. What we found was the harbor store with numerous touristy type items to purchase. The kind girl behind the register pointed us to a refrigerated case that had sandwiches for us to purchase. We took the last two ham and cheese (gouda!) sandwiches and a bag of chips and had lunch down by the harbor. I must admit it was a mumble, yet nice experience. Back at the hotel I shared with the manager what had happened and I hoped his dinner staff would make our 30th wedding anniversary dinner (yes, we had reservations thankfully!) a little extra special for the inconvenience at lunch. She said, "Of course! You are staying here and we want to accommodate your needs to the best of our ability" Dinner was superb, but there was not extra special effort to make the $250 (wine and tip included) meal a special one. Overeall...the website we used over exaggerated the wow factor for this establishment.

Bathrooms shared with the whole floor but bever anyone in there and very clean. No elevator so prepare for stairs. The island had no choices fir food ir other hotels and a car would have helped to get around.

Even our small room (as it was listed) exceeded our expectation and was quite roomy and charming. Staff was pleasure and the entire grounds were very well maintained. Wish we could've stayed longer than just the single night we had planned.

The island itself was not very interesting which I toured from a bike provided by the Inn. The Island Inn on Monhegan has more charm and that island has more sights to see from it's trails.
- Mark (8/5): Historic hotel with beautiful views - This charming historic hotel is located on a quiet island that you can only reach by ferry. The ocean views are magnificent, especially at sunset. The restaurant food and service are very good. The rooms are a bit sober and relatively small for the price that you pay, and have no heating or airconditioning. The less expensive rooms have no private bathroom.
