Guest Reviews
- Janice (8/5): - The staff were friendly and helpful, the food was good with a wide choice, room was clean and comfortable, I had a long wait though until my room was ready but I enjoyed my stay and would recommend it to others
- David John (8/5): - overall - good
- Shirley (8/5): - Nice hotel clean but a bit dated, mattress's very soft, not the best sleep. Lovely gardens and swimming pool. The bar serves lovely meals reasonably priced. Nice walk into the centre, but hilly coming back.
Would stay there again.
- Gareth (10/5): Great! - Great place to stay
- Susan (10/5): - This hotel has a very interesting historical background with all the comforts one expects at a nice hotel. The staff is friendly and receptive to any requests. The room we stayed in was clean, well taken care of by housekeeping and had updated and modern bathroom and lighting/appliances. very nice and comfortable common areas, clean looking pool. excellent included breakfast, continental breakfast as well as hot breakfast made to order. Friendly kitchen staff as well. Also the food at the bar attached to hotel is excellent as well. Convenient location near bus stops, but you will need to take a bus or other transportation back from town unless you want to walk up hill! But the bus stops. Ear the hotel are near several bus lines so you won’t have a problem finding a ride back. The hotel could use some ramps as there are some steps and long corridors, even on the ground floor areas. Overall wonderful stay. Will stay here again and recommend to others.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Helen - Lovely stay for one night. Fab breakfast. Comfortable, clean room and lovely, warm shower. Beautiful, well kept gardens and very friendly, helpful and attentive staff. Good location for town and very reasonably priced.
- Andy (6/5): Business Trip Guernsey - Very old and run down property that needs loads of TLC
- Jayne (8/5): - The hotel was a perfect location, within walking distance to the town.
The hotel was clean, all staff we met were friendly, nice big room, bed reasonably comfortable, great shower.
I would say the rooms are rather dated , but that didn't bother us... & we had a very damp smelling room.. I thought the smell would go once the windows were opened.. It didn't. I didn't mention it as I wouldn't have wanted to move, but this was the only downside for me.
If you eat in the hotel, there is a lot of choice, & beware the portions are HUGE! Breakfast is quite early, finishing at 9.30am(but it got us up& out)& is cooked to order with continental options too.
There is an outside pool, which we used once, very cold, but ok once you're in.
We were going to go shopping, as there are many lovely shops.. unfortunately we left it until the last day, Sunday &turned out most shops are closed😕
We had 2 really nice days, so we took the ferry(30 mins) to a little island Herm.. which is beautiful to walk around(says it takes 2 & half hours, but reckon you'd have to be hiking it& not stop to look at anything) . Has lots of gorgeous white sandy beaches, 2 which have cafes.
One thing we did notice about anywhere we went, it was all so clean & tidy.
We only had 5 nights, could have definitely have spent longer, so hope to visit again soon 😎
- Colin (10/5): - So friendly, decent facilities, do ask re steps though if you have problems as a few around depending what room you are in
- Verified traveler (4/5): Its grim - Despite having a pool, this place is very basic. My room was so small and had paper thin walls. Its so dated and i loved my scrambled eggs with one piece of bacon. I wont be back!
- Sally (8/5): - Very clean and super friendly staff. Pool was lovely. Decor was a bit tired and dated in places. Garden beautiful. Walk down to town took 10 minutes but longer coming back up
The hill. Bus was a great idea. Would recommend
- Claudine (10/5): Great! - Great place to stay!
- Ronald (10/5): - An old building that could do with some maintenance around the windows. The bathroom was excellent.
- Tina (8/5): - Good location, room clean and spacious and friendly, helpful staff.
There would have been 5 stars if it wasn’t for the food. There was no variety and the bar menu needs updating. The “Daily Specials” board was the same every day and most lighter options were only available for lunch.
- Steve (8/5): - We arrived late because of flight delays, but were welcomed and no problems. Always staff were friendly and helpful. The building is old and not perfect, but kept clean and looked after. Breakfasts were ordinary, but plentiful. Didn't eat there in the evening - it seemed a bit noisy for me.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Glad I found this lovely homely hotel Great staff good food very clean great hot power shower and very comfortable bed. This hotel is walking distance to St Peters port. Also regular buses on route. At the end of my trip caught a bus to Airport for £1.60 Certainly would like to stay again especially in Summer has a great garden with open air swimming pool. This hotel has everything that I wanted.
- DAVID (8/5): - Great food in the evening. Best ever poached eggs in the morning.
- Gareth (10/5): Great! - Great place
- Paul (6/5): - The property is dated and old fashioned, but that was fine. It was clean and the room was large with everything I needed.
What spoiled it for me (and why I scored 3 stars not 4), was breakfast didn't start until 8am which is too late on a work day when I needed to check out by 7.45. The staff were very friendly and he did offer to make me a packed lunch.
- Christine (10/5): - The Grange Lodge is in a very convenient location for getting buses into the town and elsewhere. I had a fabulous room overlooking the pool area. It was clean and comfortable and very quiet. I enjoyed the breakfast, good hot and cold options. The staff were friendly and efficient.
- Steve (8/5): Comfortable - Stayed for 1 week whilst on business. A friendly hotel and comfortable. Great honest home cooked food at a good price , restaurant busy with locals which is a good sign.
- Richard (10/5): - Wonderful base for my short stay in Guernsey!
Very comfortable room (mine overlooked the outdoor pool), good breakfast, and very helpful staff! Had dinner in the bar one of the evenings, it was excellent and good value for money! Recommended!
- Peter (10/5): - Very good value.
- Gareth (10/5): Great - Great place to stay!
- michael (10/5): - Excellent service
- Amira (8/5): - Great value, friendly staff, lovely pool
- Michael (8/5): - Easy check in, big bright room, very clean, helpful staff, good reasonably priced food.
- Pedro (10/5): - This hotel is great. Rooms with good amenities; friendly and helpful staff. The hotel has a swimming pool in case you fancy a dip. Also there is a pub/restaurant with some fantastic food - book early, the place is clearly quite popular, namely with the locals.
- Susan (8/5): - This was our second stay and as enjoyable as before. This hotel seems to have a lot of returners. Many older people seem to enjoy the slow pace and friendly staff.
- Gareth (10/5): Great! - Great place to stay
- Stephen (10/5): - Great friendly staff and very helpful.
Place is old but that gives it character.
Lovely pool.
- Kathryn (10/5): Definitely recommend - This is the 3rd time we’ve stayed and we love it. Perfect location, great breakfast and lovely staff
- Eddie (10/5): - A lovely stay appears dated however very clean good food and friendly crew
- michael (10/5): - Very good
- Gerry (8/5): - Quaint hotel
- Stephen (10/5): - Stayed there for 7 nights whilst on holiday in Guernsey.
Excellent hotel, very friendly staff and a rather nice cooked breakfast too.
Would certainly stay there again in the future.
- Ester (10/5): Great! - Great place to stay
- Richard (10/5): would revisit - a really pleasant stay, a great central location within walking distance to all the amenities. hotel itself was comfortable and a very hearty breakfast
- Gary (10/5): - The property was excellent and staff were great. I would highly recommend the grange lodge Hotel
- Simon (10/5): - Everyone who works there was so friendly. I lost my work phone in the taxi when i arrived and they were straight on it and tracked it down within 5 minutes and I had it back the same evening! Food was amazing from the pub attached.
- Randolph (8/5): Once upon a time.... - A bit outdated hotel, which once upon a time must have been excellent. However, for the price compared to most others it is very acceptable.
The staff are very friendly, the breakfast is very good.
It has a nice old-fashioned charm
- John (8/5): - I have stayed at the Grange a few times and found it good value- it is nicely central to Town and next to buses out to the coast, staff are friendly & the breakfast is good.
- Susan (8/5): Good hotel, lovely staff. - Good hotel, walking distance of St Peter Port town centre and on a bus route as it is on a hill. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Food at breakfast and in the evening at the attached bar were both very good. Rooms were very clean and a reasonable size. There was an outside pool which was clean and well maintained. Overall an enjoyable stay and we would happily stay there again.
- michael (10/5): - Excellent service
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Thoroughly enjoyed our stay
- Jacqueline (10/5): Guernsey tour - Enjoyed my stay. Nice hotel in a good position only 10 minute walk from the Harbour. On a very good bus route. Pool clean and refreshing. Breakfast good but would of liked more variety.
Staff helpful and friendly. Would definitely stay again.
- Paula Margaret (10/5): - How lovely in this day and age to find a warm welcome and a genuine feeling of nothing is too much trouble to help make your visit enjoyable. A very homely look, super pool and good choice for breakfast and dinner. Lovely gardens a little wild in places. Good bus service close by which was great as St Peter Port is very hilly
- David (6/5): - Check-in was chaotic: couldn't find the room keys and decided the previous guests had taken them away - were eventually given the housekeeping set. Minutes after arriving in the room the keys had miraculously been found. The room was very disappointing: small, tired decorations and completely unlike the rooms pictured on the hotel website. The en-suite had been designed for a giant with the light switch pull cord over 6 feet from the ground - my wife could barely reach it and she's 5 foot 6!! The shower riser rail would ideally suit someone between 6 foot and 7 foot 6 tall. Shower cubicle doors wouldn't close properly and the chrome had worn away from the plastic surround in places.
Breakfast food was very good but the service was random. When, or even if, someone was going to take your hot food order varied from day to day. There were plenty of staff but no-one seemed to have a clue about what each of them was doing.
The bar was the one area where things were better. The staff were all friendly, helpful and efficient. They all seemed to know what was happening at each table and clearly had a great system in place. The food was good and wholesome - nothing fancy but at the price it was some of the best.
- Glynn (10/5): - Lovely hotel with history great friendly staff
nice clean rooms and bathroom s lovely garden s good English breakfast cooked to order egg s nice etc fryed ..boiled..poached scammed ..toast.. croissant ..cereal s... fruits meat n cheese s continental breakfast s .. great bar and good pub meals and pudding.. 15 minutes walk from st Peter port... hill walk down and hill walk back to st Peter port but worth it
- Laura (8/5): The Grange - Great pub food, good location , on the bus line
- Andrew (10/5): - An interesting 'historic' property with amazing staff
- Matthew (10/5): - The hotel is located on a busy road (for Guernsey) and is walkable to the town centre. It has bus route outside if you don't fancy the hill from the centre to the hotel. There is an old world charm about the place. The bedroom was comfortable, clean and large, with the ensuite bathroom being clean and also of a good size. The breakfast room was pleasant and the cooked breakfast was tasty. There is a bar on site which looked well patronised, but it is also not far from Guernsey oldest pub too!
- Richard (10/5): - Excellent
- ANDREW PETER (10/5): - FRIENDLY HOTEL AND WE WERE WELL LOOKED AFTER
- Ester (10/5): Great - All good….as usual!
- Anthony (8/5): - The hotel is very well located a couple of minutes' walk from the centre of SPP. The room rate was good value for money and the breakfast fine. The staff was very helpful.
- Barry (10/5): Very good value for money. - Very good value for money and a quality filling breakfast. Some interesting little reading rooms to hide in around the hotel for quiet time outside of your room.
- Ester (10/5): Great! - Great place to stay!
- michael (10/5): - Ok
- LILIAN (10/5): Great Hotel - Nice super friendly hotel and really good food.
- Paul (10/5): A great place to stay - Had to spend about 4 days here. What a great Hotel. Staff very helpful and friendly. The owners Piere and Michelle go out of their way to make.you feel comfortable. The food served here is blood lovely and great value for money with a menu that will suit all tastes. Rooms are very comfortable and spacious. The Hotel is located anout 10 mins walk from the harbour and shops
- MICHELLE (10/5): Very welcoming. - Stayed here on many occasions. Staff always friendly and make sure you have for your stay.
Great location!
- VIJAY (8/5): - Lovely ambience and service
- S (10/5): Charming and Comforatable - Oldy worldy hotel very nice staff lovely bar/restaurant food was great! Huge variety real quality with the cooking. Comfortable room everything you want on a three day stay
- adam (10/5): - Great hotel no complaints what so ever
- Ester (10/5): Great place - Great place to stay.....why not try it yourself?
- James (10/5): Old world charm at fantastic value - Old world charm, comfy rooms wonderful breakfast and extremely well priced.
This is not a brand new hotel so don’t expect those facilities. But, for a building with such history the rooms are very comfortable.
- LORD DAVID (10/5): Brilliant Hotel and staff - I had a fantastic stay at the Grange Lodge! Simon and his team were brilliant, the room was so clean and tidy, the breakfast set me up for the day,the history of the hotel is worth writing a book about,i really hope that when i am next travelling to Guernsey i can stay again. Thank you to all the staff for a really enjoyable stay, hope to see you all soon.
- Janice (10/5): Convenient, welcoming and great location, - Booked this venue because of it's central location, for the things we wanted to do during our visit. An unexpected bonus, was that it was just 5+ minutes walk from town. We were welcomed by Pierre, the owner, who was polite and very helpful. The room was very clean and the bed was huge, always a plus, Everything that we needed for the duration of our stay, was there. Breakfast was very enjoyable and the staff could not be more willing. We had all of our meals in the attached bar, which could get busy with local trade, but that can only be a complement to the hosts. All in all, a very enjoyable stay and would definitely consider staying there again, should we return in the future.
- michael (10/5): - Excellent food and service
- Susan (10/5): - There wasn’t anything I didn’t like. I have stayed here a few times now and have never been disappointed. Well done grange lodge hotel!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Old mansion house, well kept and with modern bathrooms. Lovely pool surrounded by greenery and a bright breakfast room with windows overlooking a large garden. The downside of the old building is that it can get a bit noisy as people walk along creaky floorboards. But generally quiet, nice place. Friendly helpful manager and a nice english breakfast every morning. The surprise was the dinner - the hotel offers dinner every night, with a surprisingly varied menu.
- MICHELLE (10/5): Fantastic - Fantastic staff. Nothing to much trouble. Would highly recommend.
Thank you!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great stay - Great stay and service, very pleasantly surprised. En suite bathroom felt new, very clean and great shower (hot and powerful). I’m a local and have always been a fan of the restaurant/bar within the hotel.
- brian (10/5): Great facilities for walking holiday. - Great hotel with excellent full English breakfast that set me up for long walks around the island looking for WW11 defenses. Great to have tea and coffee facilities in room vital at end of a long tiring day,
- Maria (10/5): Nice hotel - Very clean and comfortable
- Ben (8/5): - Lovely grounds and decent price for rooms out of season
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The lady in the dinning room, was so helpful, and happy, great stay, will be staying again.
- Fiona (10/5): Excellent! - Great service, location, staff. Very comfortable, clean friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. We would certainly go back. Excellent!
- adrian (10/5): Grange lodge - Good location, nice hotel, good food. Friendly staff
- Howell (10/5): Great short stay in Guernsey - Sadly only a short stay but nice friendly hotel. Great room and bar/restaurant. Bus stop to and from airport handy outside.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Everything was good ,nice people, nice pool. The meals in the bar were good. All the staff were friendly and helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Set in lovely park like gardens. Very big room. Meals in restaurant were excellent. Breakfast room was very nicely set out with lots of space between tables. Two big reading rooms, swimming pool. Interesting history of German occupation during the war. Bus stop 50m away. All the staff were very friendly and efficient. Very quiet at night. Excellent in every way.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Beautiful breakfast and service . It just needs to have a lift put in to bring it up to modern day standards, otherwise a very lovely hotel,.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property is charming, the bed was very comfortable and the staff super friendly yet professional.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Fair for the price - First impression not good but arrived late. Good comfortable bed, good shower with hot water & amenities in bedroom fine. However overall it was rather tired & could do with a update throughout.
- Ian (10/5): - Hotel was perfect for a short stay in Guernsey. If you don't mind a short walk down the hill - and a slower one back up - it's ideal. The pool was great to unwind and relax by late afternoon. St Peter's Port has lots to offer with great restaurants and bars an plenty of things to keep visitors busy for 4 or 5 days.
- Gillian (10/5): - My daughter and I spent the first night then she went into hospital for two nights. I was very comfortable on my own, loved having a swim in the pool and the food was very good, price and quality. It was well placed for getting the bus to the hospital. Will certainly consider staying again.
- Susan (8/5): holiday review - It would have been good to know that the showers were in the bath not walk into also good to know there were no lifts, although we did have help when we arrived with our luggage. Having a good bus service very near was excellent. The staff on the desk were always helpful. We enjoyed having some meals at the bar.... very good price and standard.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Front desk help was incredibly knowledgeable! The hotel was charming, with modern bathrooms but quaint rooms.
- Gabrielle (10/5): Recommended - Excellent hotel, good value food in bar ,comfortable beds, quiet room.Dont book top floors unless you are fit...there is no lift( and no air com) road outside very busy.Breakfast lovely except the poor bread! Lovely gardens and pool.Would stay again.
- M H (8/5): Short break - Very comfortable rooms, friendly helpful staff. Good choice breakfast. Bar meals very good.
- Alexa (8/5): Good location - Good location a short walking distance from St Peter Port. Good range of breakfast foods. Pool looked good but unfortunately I didn't have time to try it
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Quirky old time hotel, comfortable, clean, friendly and close to town .
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I liked the charm of the old building, yes it appeared dated but the cleanliness was second to none. The only thing I would like to see is a separate room for evening meals instead of the bar area. Having said that, the food was of excellent quality and extremely well priced. Will definitely be returning
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Lovely to have a single room with a bath as well as a shower.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Enjoyed the pool but really needed a net available to fish out the insects.
Room was nice but toilet rolls and shower gel were not replenished every day.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent breakfast with a nice garden view. Good food next door in the pub
- Neil (10/5): Perfect for us - Perfect to leave the car and explore St. Peter’s, even the weather was great 😃👌
- Louise (10/5): Life Time Dream for for our lovely friend. - Really enjoyable, lovely to stay again after at least 15 years. Good time had by all
