- Takahito (10/5): - 日本人の方へ。旅行で2泊しましたがとても良かったです。まず、アクセスですが地下鉄1号線の1番出口を出ると目の前がホテルです。1番出口にはエレベーターがありますので荷物があっても大丈夫です。地下鉄3号線もありますが、1番出口から離れているのでめちゃ歩きます。チェックインして通された部屋が喫煙室でしたので、交渉して禁煙室に変えてもらいました。部屋は27階でしたが、エレベーターは6機あるのでまちません。窓からは南京駅が見えましたので、列車を眺めれます。部屋は広く清掃も行き届いており、快適に過ごせました。お風呂には湯船がありますが、水圧が少し弱めです。熱さは大丈夫でした。朝食は7時から開始で早くから混み合います。バイキング形式で洋食や中華もありとてもおいしかったです。ホテルの近くには地元のレストランもありますので行きやすいです。ここのホテルは満足度が高かったです。

- Jo-AnnKYTan (4/5): Disappointing - This is the first hotel we have been that the heater is turned on automatically without an option to choose between the ac or heater. We had to ask for a fan as the room felt like an oven. It is cool outside but with strong sunshine. Hotel is old. Reception staff was nice and helpful. Room was clean enough. Lake view but the room windows were so dirty, couldn’t take any photos. Xuanwu Lake has some evening performance whereby the singing or songs can be heard from the hotel. Be aware of that! Breakfast looked like a good range but have a lot of tolerance with people not having the habit of not lining up or cutting queue. McD and KFC is next to the hotel. Railway station is right next to the hotel.

- WengKeeLeong (8/5): Generally very good - If you are arriving by the high speed rail at Nanjing Railway station, do not follow Google map as it takes you by a circuitous route. Just exit by the South entrance, turn right and cut right through behind the bus terminus (the side away from the main road and lake), past KFC and McDonald's (which is right next to the hotel). Good: We had a family suite. Spacious, bed with good mattresses, a great view of the lake. It is located next to the railway station, bus terminus, a subway station, and of course the Xuanwu lake. The staff are generally very helpful. We had a leak in the WC and it was quickly fixed while we were out. Can be improved on: 1. Insufficient wardrobe space. 2. We were supposed to have a non-smoking room but people on our floor were clearly smoking anyway! 3. The breakfast buffet - could have done with some organisation; International and Asian items were all mixed up, they tend to leave covers open so items become cold, and it is a challenge to locate knives and forks. 2.

- June (8/5): - The location is right outside of the train/subway station, easy to visit the city and get on the speed train. Hotel is clean. Some staffs are very helpful. I asked for a receipt, the front desk check out tells me that she can't give me one, because I paid online. When we call some phone buttons for service, no one answers.

- XnthShy (6/5): OK Hotel. Mostly Business. Clean - This was an okay hotel. Was here for an international conference with a family member. Room was clean- no leaking in bathroom that is too common in hotels. Wouldn't choose this one again because I cant see needing to ever stay in this part of Nanjing again. Breakfast was fine- typical fried eggs made to order, rice pudding, fruit, and the usual. Staff was helpful - particularly to those who speak fluent Chinese. A few small shops to buy fruit, water, and snacks at. Not a top "tourisity" park of town- so good or bad depending upon what your are looking for. Train station did not bother us. Did not see evidence of "nasty" stuff goings on as some other reviewers did...

- AdB89 (6/5): OK, mostly business travelers, good buffet, bar, coffee lounge, and restaurant - Shuguang is next to the train station, so it's great if you don't want to guess how long it'll take to get back there after check-out. The lobby and lobby bar are nice looking. I liked the 32nd (top) floor coffee lounge and the breakfast & lunch buffet on the 2nd floor are good. The restaurant on the 3rd floor is average. The rooms are somewhat worn, very worn carpeting in the halls, decidedly below 4-star, but adequate. No computers in the rooms, but free, slow, wifi. Yes, there is noise all night from the very busy train station beside, but it didn't bother me. Guests are mostly men, looked like business travelers. Though adjacent to a bunch of fast-food restaurants and a convenience store, the hotel is not in a place where you walk out and get to anywhere on foot. But you can get a taxi to a restaurant row, outdoor market area, or shopping center. Took the low-cost (about $45 base price) travel-company-managed Nanjing day-trip that was offered -- typical in most ways: a mini-bus picks up guests from various hotels, visits seven minor tourist destinations, stops for lunch along the way, costs a little extra for a couple of things, and drops everyone back at their hotels at day's end. The destinations are your typical temples, mausoleums, museums, and a few historical sites, nice to see but nothing extra-special. Nanjing traffic is very slow all day, and the rate of construction is very high (higher than in Shanghai, it seemed).
- aalbornoz (4/5): BED BUG ALERT!!! - After train cancellation we have to stay here as was the closest hotel to train station, looks beautiful, nice lobby, and good looking rooms... but its a tourist trap!!! At our arrival I asked to a girl in front desk rates, we went to have coffee and minutes after went my colleague to ask again to same girl... know what!!! she gave him rates U$D 100 lower than me, without negotiation!! Worse massage ever (touuurinssstt traappp)... bed bugs, and so far the worse and eclectic people around... as they have KTV in some floor, you'll face drunks in elevator between 8:00 pm and 3:00 am... nasty things happening around, come on!!! I've saw lots of things travelling the world!!! but this place wins my #1 place in worse hotels.... The only good think is location... stone throw from train station, and read this... NO WINDOW between room and bathroom!!!!! anyone that have travel Asia knows what I'm talking about.
- Mumish93 (6/5): Ordinary - Stayed for 3 nights on a recent business trip. Location wise its not too bad as it is next door to the train station and had a adjoining shopping arcade. Wasn't too thrill with the service as I felt that the staff were not responsive to requests/ needs. Perhaps it was also the language but even then, not impressed. Lobby had a certain smell which put me off. Room though was decent, clean and pretty well appointed. It has wi fi in the room but it was pretty slow which made communicating difficult. Breakfast spread decent, nothing much to get you thrilled. Overall, passable stay but needs improvement to make me return.
- kellymlnt (8/5): Impolite stuff, good food. - We stayed here for a three day conference. Arriving in the conference room to set up, we found out that nothing was prepared, the room was not section so that we would know exactly what space was available to us, tables and chairs were stacked everywhere and the staff was not willing to help us out because "the responsible was not on duty". Finally, two hours and a lot of fighting later, we managed to find somebody that was willing to do their job. The rooms are all right but have a weird smell and the bed is too hard. The restaurant on the 32nd floor is really good with great dishes and very nice staff. One thing we really liked about the location was that it had a supermarket right next door and a McDonald's for quick snacks (ice cream, apple pies and coffee).
- beingonearth (6/5): too old for a 4star hotel - Stayed there to try to avoid the noise of fireworks on chinese new year's eve , but it turned out to be a bad decision.... loads of fireworks were burnt just right on the ground outside of the entrance of the hotel, and together with noise from the trains(the room we had is not the one near the railway with cheaper price), hardly had any sleep... The room is getting too old, carpet is full of stains, there's some kind of unbearable smell which should be something they sprayed but it just smells stink...bathroom is too small... But its right next to the train station, convenient to catch the train or shuttle bus to airport, and we had special price on new year eve, it doesnt worth to pay for its normal price anyway... Service is good, they even called us to send greetings for the festival and ask if we have any special requests for new year's eve.
- PhangSingapore (10/5): Highly Recommended - Stayed 4 nights with a 3-day break in between in late Feb 2014. Though absence of departmental stores, good restaurants in immediatel surroundings, having airport bus terminal, railway stations, MRT, bus interchange and city bus stops just steps away make travelling to major tourist destinations in city and inter-city travel very convenient and simple. Room tastefully and adequately furnished, spaceous, clean and with very comfortable.Mini fridge and safe in room were useful. Quiet despite railstation nearby. Breakfasts spread and quality were good and price reasonable. Room rates through Ctrip were attractive for a 4* hotel. Staff at all departments from front desk, bell service to restaurant were courteous, helpful and efficient. Mr Shao an-zi and Ms Ren xiao-dan at front desk, who handled my stay were very gentle and pleasant, helpful and proactive. They were exceptional. A very happy stay and will definitely return when next visiting Nanjing.
- AubergineCentury (4/5): Location good, the rest less so - There is probably not much choice if needing a hotel near the train station but this hotel fell below expectations. Carpet in room is very old and worn Wifi offered but no signal in our room Air con did not work and was told to just open the window. No compensation offered. Room was clean though and breakfast was good. If eating in hotel, the restaurant on 32F is not bad but much better is the one on 3F
- GourmetMX (8/5): Very good hotel just a few steps from the railway station - I was very tired after a long trip to Nanjing. I did not have reservation in any hotel and I just walked just by chance to the west of the station trying to find ANY hotel. The first building was the Shuguang hotel. It is a very modern and comfortable hotel, the room was fine and the breakfast was superb! The restaurant was not only very fine but also has a very sophisticated decor. Next day I realized I was just in front of the beautiful lake and I had a lovely stroll around it for more than three hours. A lot of noise outside since is in a very busy area of the city, (ok, almost everywhere is very busy in China!) but the windows have double glassing, so the noise was not a problem for me. When I walked to the spa area of the hotel I found kind of dorms with several people sleeping in couches! I guess the hotel also has this kind of service.
- luvtravellin82 (8/5): Great Location - I stayed at the Shuguang International Hotel for 1 night. This hotel's location is unbeatable as the Nanjing Railway Station is right beside it. There are also lots of shops and eateries around the hotel which makes it more attractive. The room that i booked was a twin room on the 12th Floor. The room was spacious, the wifi signal was strong, amenities provided were more than adequate. However if you are a light sleeper, i wouldn't recommend this hotel to you as I remembered hearing people singing outside. I'm not sure if it was due to a wedding event or because of the KTV club in the hotel. But if you are a heavy sleeper like me, you can sleep through anything.
- XKR100 (2/5): Will not be back... - Booked in this hotel by my supplier for two nights and checked out after first night without any sleep! Location of this hotel next to the bus station means that the local busses arrive and leave all night, given the Chinese do not know how to drive without the use of a horn it is impossible to get a good nights sleep. This is helped by the poor window which are not sound proofed, the local residents who shout to one another in the corridor at all times of the night, poor insulation between rooms meaning you can hear everything your neighbour is doing, a general smell in the room which was not pleasant - I could go on! Breakfast is a bun fight and was not a pleasant experience, dirty table's, food of not a good standard etc. I can't think of anything good to say about this hotel, even the price they charge is inflated for the product they provide.
- Flyn1170 (4/5): Overrated - Am staying at the hotel now, for 4 nights. This hotel is overrated. While the rooms are spacious and the location generally accessible, the noise from the traffic goes on and on throughout. You need to be a heavy sleeper to get a sound night's sleep. Cars horning loudly and frequently start as early as 5.30am and don't stop till past midnight. Yes, the view of the lake from the 15th floor is quite lovely, if you ignore the constant smog surrounding the city. The room I am in and the other rooms my colleagues are in across various floors all smell of stale cigarette smoke. We all have the same complaint. If you are a non-smoker like me, it is a nightmare. Clothes smell bad after a night in the room. The room is generally clean, though the carpet could do with a more thorough vacuuming. Bed is decent and comfortable. Breakfast is okay. I would not stay here again. The cons outweigh the pros.

- safemouse (6/5): Somewhat better than ok - We chose this hotel for location. It's right outside the railway station, opposite the lake and near the tube. We paid 408 RMB for a double twin on the 21st floor and were rewarded with a fantastic view of the lake and the railway tracks. It gets marks for the view. The room was spotless and modern with a nice art deco style chair with wooden arms and a foot stool but it was perhaps a little small. I only have experience of one other 4 star hotel in China, the Yingdu New Jinjiang in Xuzhou, and I have to say the Xuzhou hotel had a much nicer room and was cheaper! It had a bigger bathroom with a massive shower and a deep, standalone bath. (Infact, the New Jinjiang knocked spots off the Shu Guang all round. It's clearly a class apart.) The Shu Guang, on the other hand, had a shower in the bath arrangement and the bath was rather shallow and pokey. The television was a slightly dated cathrode ray tube thing but at least it had HBO and BBC World, albeit low resolution, for some reason. Still, the high quality, modern finish of everything didn't make me feel that I'd been cheated. It was still a nice room when it came down to it. There were marginal discount vouchers for the bathhouse, which I never tried out. 48 RMB off the bathhouse and 18RMB off a foot massage. I did try the snooker and table tennis rooms, which cost 30 RMB and 20 RMB an hour. These are pretty good, though I personally didn't like the way a staff member kept observing us. The breakfast is worth it for the fantastic view you get from the 32nd floor in a revolving restaurant. The service is not particularly great but it's all about training. The staff are friendly and if you ask for a coffee and it's cold all you have to do is point this out. One night we went down to the KTV floor (6th, I think) and were told that a room would be 800 RMB. This is an insane amount of money to pay for a KTV room in China. And the atmosphere here was aggressive and unfriendly, anyway. All in all I am glad I chose this hotel but I wouldn't choose it again because it didn't overwhelm me with service or features, it just fitted the bill.
- Kevin29 (8/5): Value for Money! - Was on a business trip in Nanjing, China. Took a train from Shanghai to Nanjing, found this nice looking hotel beside the railway station. Decided to stay in it for 1 night for 428RMB There are also breakfast included inside the room charge Got a 20th floor room, nice view overlooking the XuanWu Lake and Nanjing Railway Station. Staffs are extremely helpful and know decent english. Will recommend it to my friends going to Nanjing
