Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The price was reasonable for the location which was one of the only good things about staying here.
It was obvious that there was not a lot of effort put into the upkeep of the studio that we stayed in.
The shower door was broken. There was rickety patio furniture used for a table and chairs.
There was a squeaky murphy bed (double) with extremely dated sheets and blanket. The sheets were stained and old.
Even the towels were old and worn. They looked like towels from 20 years ago, mismatched and well used.
All of this was disappointing but I understand that staying in Vieux Quebec is pricey and this studio was cheaper than most.
However, the owner left a sheet with rules and tasks to complete upon leaving. Such as,
- if it's garbage day, take the garbage to the curb.
- strip the bed yourself and place the sheets and bedding in the bath tub...
-If you're lucky enough to stay in a room with a washing machine, they actually ask you to put in a load of laundry to wash the towels before leaving!!
-If things do not look exactly the same as when you arrived you will be charged an extra cleaning fee.
I don't have a lot of faith in the cleaning that was actually done prior to my arrival, did the previous occupants clean the room for me? Or was someone paid to do it?
- Georgia (8/5): - It was within the walls of Quebec City, everything was within walking distance. There was no laundry facility in our studio, however there was a coin laundromat across the street. The door to the patio/balcony was locked and not accessible. The property manager, was very prompt to reply to our inquiries via phone, as there is no one on site. Very cute and romantic
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The placement of this property is excellent and the facilities available are perfect. The only complaint we had was that the bed was a little on starting to need replacement side.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Place was neatly orginized.
Communication with super intendent was smooth
Location is right in the centre of Old Quebec and everything is convinient to access
- Quinn (10/5): Cozy & Comfortable! Loved it - Excellent communication from the owner. Hotel was clean, quiet and felt just like home. Loved the location. Will definitely be looking to stay here again in the future. Have also recommended it to a few family members who are looking to travel to Quebec City.
- Molly (8/5): Great location, easy access - Our accommodations were simple and adequate for the price. There was no the hot water in the shower for the two nights we stayed in the apartment/hotel due to frozen pipe. The owner was tireless in attempting to fix the problem and also offered to relocate us. We also rented the neighboring room which had hot water so it was not a problem at all. I was very impressed with her attempts to fix a very unexpected problem which could not be avoided given the below freezing temperatures over a New Years Holiday. I would stay again for a short holiday because the location was so perfect.
- Alex (2/5): Good location, bad hotel - # 4 is basically ruined. Cannot even open window. Some furniture are broken, etc.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location! - Very convenient location to restaurants, old town, attractions...etc. A bit dated but charming nevertheless. For those who want to be more independent and feel homey rather than corporate hotel type. Just like a little apartment in Europe :) Very positive experience overall.
- Praful (10/5): Good experience! - Place was in very good condition, especially liked the kitchenette and very helpful host!
Only possible complaint is that it did not have laundry facility in house as mentioned during booking details. It could have been painful if I had packed assuming it will be there.
- Kate (8/5): Good stay for the price - The room is on the second floor. It's was hard a little bit with a stroller. There is enough space for two, with the toddler and extra bed it was tight. On the other hand, the hotel has a great location. I would recommend it.
- Lucy (6/5): Very close to down town. - Very close to down town. Everything closeby. The place could be a lot more clean.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Just inside St John's gate - This is a home and as such is not perfect. Having said this, it is in an excellent location, is reasonably priced and is cute as a button in an old world stone walls meets bohemian cool kinda way. I would stay here again the next time I was in town if available without any concern. Close to a wicked crepe shop, close to parking, close to fantastic shopping, piles of old city land marks, 15 minutes to Videotron centre for concerts. Then why not 5 stars? No real closets and fit and finish is a little "lived in". Having said this, reasonable clean and super cute.
- M (6/5): Centrally located - No hotel staff on site. Room was clean but some areas were over looked.
No air conditionning but had access to open window however it opened onto a terrace and was not comfortable to leave open.
- Hugo (8/5): On the spot of Quebec City - This place is near everything. You can walk to any place from here, as long you stay in old Quebec, this is, inside the walls. There is no elevator, so, if you can't do stairs, don't stay here., They have others appartments in other building, and so, I can't comment about then. This on I stayed, is very good.
- Steve (8/5): Hotel close to everything, right in old Quebec. - The room itself was nice but there were minor things we would have appreciated. First, the AC could work overtime and the room would never be cool. It wouldn't be as hot as if it weren't there, but it could definitely have been better. The check-out instructions weren't uber clear, but I suspect that may have been more a language barrier thing than anything.
The pros: the kitchenette was a nice touch to the room. Having a fridge, toaster, microwave, oven, and stove was a great way to enjoy a nice meal without spending a ton on the main strip. The self check in was very nice and quick, it took no time at all to get settled in. The space felt incredibly homey.
- lisa (10/5): Home away from home in Old Quebec - We absolutely loved it here! The place as just a street over from all the summer carnival activity, so convenient, but nice and peaceful when you wanted to rest. The studio apartment was clean and the kitchen allowed us to make up some food. The second floor a bit tricky for move into and they do not have parking on site, but a parking garage a block away. We loved it and would come stay again!
- Wendy (6/5): Quebec condo - While I found location and actuall condo great, when we arrived it had not been cleaned pryer to our arrival, we contacted hotels.com and building manager?
Not knowing who to contact, it took a little bit for someone to get back to us and not having backup plan spent first hour of our stay cleaning and doing laundry without detergent, although they gave us first nights stay and waived cleaning fee was not happy with communication with property management.
Come Tuesday when we were leaving manager forgetting previous communications, about comprised CC and insinuating we were looking for free stay, VERY insulting and clearly needs to work on people skills and better communication skills!
I will end with condo was adequate but unfortunately poor communication and treatment was not.

- Becky (10/5): - This apartment is in a fantastic location, was clean, and fully equipped. It has great character! We loved it!
- Murray (10/5): Cute little place in Old Quebec - We spent six nights here, and had a fabulous time overall. The room is cozy, well-equipped and in a great location just off Rue St Jean, lots of great places to eat close by. Definitely would stay here again!
- Verified traveler (2/5): I never uses before expedia but i not happy - I am very disconcerted by the study that rent was with an ugly smell was not in the conditions that the lady a waited lived very attentive the truth the only kind that I had was the treatment that she gave us we advise and we help but of the others I did not like accommodation
- Tanya (8/5): Nice place! Great location! - Clean, well equipped studio apartment. In a great location! Very friendly host who offered suggestions on places to go with our toddler! Would definitely recommend to a friend!
- ANGEL M (10/5): A very convenient apartment in the heart of Queb - I only saw a young man finishing the cleaning of the apartment: time. He provided me with some information about supermarkets.. During my stay I did not see or contact anybody else belonging to the "organization".
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great Suite in Old Québec - Lots of room, full kitchen, perfect location, host easy to contact, great old building, has AC.
- Claire (10/5): great location and nice units - excellent location in a great unit! needs more attention to amenities such as missing dish soap in one unit and no tissues in another Great place overalland no
- BB (10/5): Great Place. - The studio is an amazing place. It is clean, quiet and very convenient.
- Maude (8/5): Very nice room, close to everything - Everything was ready for our arrival, just like Viviane told me. The room was clean and almost exacly what we were expecting, unfortunately there was no A/C and we couldnt make the TV work, i reached out to Viviane and she tried to help me but it still wasn't working. Overhall, the room and the bathroom was really clean and nothing was missing.
- Adam (10/5): Beautiful little place, full kitchen, so easy. - This is more like having your own apartment in a perfect location - the heart of the old city. Getting the keys was easy, and after that we had no contact with the owner because we didn't need to; the room was in perfect shape, came with everything we needed, and including instructions on what to do when we left. There were a number of nice little touches in the room, such as guidebooks, a map, and sugar for our coffee (the kitchen has a coffee maker, which made the mornings extra-lovely).
- Verified traveler (8/5): Studio in excellent location - This studio is small for 3 if you are intending spending much time in the room. If you are going to use it as you would a hotel room, it is perfect. The larger apartment would be better for 3 but for our stay it was already booked. There are loads of restaurants nearby and it is walking distance from the railway station and all the main sites.
- Verified traveler (6/5): AVERAGE STUDIO ACCOMODATION - Average accomodation.
- Verified traveler (4/5): good location but studio needs updates - we rented two studios and stayed two nights. we found the place dark, tired looking. the beds were uncomfortable. the linen and pillows were old. it is time to replace them
- brigitte (6/5): convenient place - Nice bathroom, well equipped kitchen.
We did'nt use the oven as it looks dirty but we had other way to cook.
Old refrigerator very noisy. When it works il is better to have ear plugs to sleep.
Overall it was OK.
- Jason & Julie (10/5): Great spot in Old Quebec - Awesome location in Old Quebec. Close to all the shops and restaurants but tucked nicely down a quiet side street. If I am ever back in Quebec City I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Unit may not be quite as pictured on website - Very uncomfortable murphy bed in Apt. 5 where we stayed, no matress pad between the mattress & the sheet which I find somewhat unsanitary. The head of the bed is next to the fridge so bring earplugs. The door to the "patio" is single pane glass which would make this unit very cold in winter. The view from the patio is the small backyard full of contruction debris - there is no view of the St Lawrence River, the city ramparts or any other tourist site from this property. If you can't carry your luggage up the stairs be sure to request a ground floor unit. Stay here for the proximity to everything in Old Quebec & for the kitchen & laundry facilities.
- Kayla (6/5): Perfect location, needs a more comfortable bed - Overall, this room was good for what we needed. It was in the perfect location in Old Quebec! Very close to shops and restaurants but secluded enough that noise was never an issue. The bathroom was nice but quite small. The bed was extremely uncomfortable and very small for tall people like myself and my boyfriend. There was also no A/C, just a fan, which was fine on some nights as it was cool outside, but others it was very uncomfortable to sleep in. All in all, it was a nice place to stay. My only real complaint would be the bed.
- joseph (8/5): Adequate - Great location. We arrived late, something for bkfst would have been wonderful. Liked the wash machine.
- Veronica (8/5): Excellent location in the middle of the Old City - This was actually a second-floor studio studio apartment with a small porch overlooking a private space. Nice kitchen for making morning coffee, and a refrigerator for keeping drinks cold--who knew it could be hot and humid in Canada in JULY? There was also a small washer/dryer in the unit.
Only issue for some might be that the building is located halfway up a steep hill, and there's an additional steep climb to the second floor with your luggage. Parking is in a public garage a couple of blocks away. We left our car there the whole time because the sightseeing is best done on foot.
Highly recommend the funicular down to the lower town where you'll find beautiful shops, with flowers all around.
- S&Z (8/5): Great location and nice accomidations. - Very happy with our stay. The staff was friendly and there when you needed them. The room was very clean and the location couldn't be much better.
- Henry (6/5): Perfect Old Quebec location - Stayed here with my two adult kids for the Quebec Summer Music Festival. Location was perfect!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Old quebec - Great location. Smooth check in. Nice exposed brick and stone walls
- Verified traveler (6/5): Wouldn't recomend - No air conditioner. We had to keep balcony door open at night, and somebody from another room have been smoking hole night, so we can't sleep.
- susie (4/5): Staff nice and accommodating. - Even though the staff was nice and accommodating, I found the place too cold in the winter time. I froze every night. I would recommend it for the summer though, but I would be cautious during the winter months. My husband and son were fine with the room temperature, but not me, I shivered and got a sore throat every night.
The rooms are OK, it is a mini apartment with all the necessities to stay for a few days. The appliances are in dire conditions though and need immediate replacement. I could only use two pans to cook. The appliances are Teflon appliances and all, except for two, are very scratched out. I was impressed by the washroom though, very modern and clean, nice bath tub. The location is perfect, right in the heart of old Quebec City, but beware of a hill going down or up from St. Ursula to St. Jean Sts. Luckily there was not ice on the side walks, but if there would have been, we would have been stranded. We are fit and we could go up and down the hill during two snowstorms, but for someone who is not too fit or for the elderly, that would be very difficult. Overall, the idea is good, nice little apartment with a full kitchen, its own bathroom and two separate rooms, located in the heart of Old Quebec City and within walking distance to Chateau Frontenac, but it needs some work in the area of heating and appliances.
- cindy (6/5): - The bed is HARD, husband slept first few hours in a kitchen chair. Great location, but between difficulty finding parking and the hard bed, we won't try the same room again.
- Roger (8/5): - Very nice suite in a great location. WiFi, kitchen, flat screen TV, excellent shower. No parking but that's part for Quebec City boutique hotels. would definitely stay there again.
- Mary & Alwyn (8/5): Studios Quebec City - This is a new studio with modern and stylish large toilet and shower room, large well appointed kitchen area and a sleeping area.
We loved the exposed original granite outside wall which contrasts with the modern wood and tile flooring.
The washing machine and dryer were very useful.
The included wifi was excellent.
The double bed was very comfortable but quite low so a little difficult for older people (like us!) to get into and out of. We also had to take care about the sharp wooden edges of the bed frame.
The large flat screen wall mounted TV with internet channels provided excellent entertainment. Unfortunately, it was positioned close to the bed at 90 degrees so was hard to see properly when sat in bed.
There are lots of nice places to eat locally and would recommend Le Petit Coin Latin (The little Latin corner)restaurant just down the road. The raclette was excellent.
We took the boat ride (1 1/2 hours) from the old Port to the local waterfall which is 30 metres higher than Niagara Falls. The Quebec City skyline was stunning on the way back.
We just happened to be there when the Quebec Cycling Grand Prix took place. It was amazing. Sixteen laps of a 8.6 miles circuit winding itself through the best bits of the city which meant we could see the race from many different positions.
This is a fantastic location to visit.
- Peter and Diann (10/5): For the young at heart - Great place to stay. Very close to restaurants and all main attractions. On a very steep hill so those with medical conditions beware. Appartment 2 is on ground level. We were sorry to leave.
- Ron (10/5): Better than a boutique hotel. - Fabulous apartment right across the road from the Acadia and other hotels. Location is in old Quebec and easy access to dining and Le Petit Champlain. The bedroom is large enough for a queen bed but the double is very comfortable and my back was fine in the morning.
- Michael (10/5): more than meets the eye! - My wife and I stayed for two days and we were more than impressed. The studio is nestled very close to the citadel is close to many restaurant and venues.
Would stay again!
- robyn& bob. (10/5): Perfect Location in Old City - We were greeted by The owner and made to feel it was our home for the length of our stay. The studio is newly renovated, well equipped with kitchen, and laundry facilities, and extremely comfortable to be in.
the bottom of Rue St. Ursule intersects with Rue St.-Jean which is filled with an assortment of shops including many restaurants .The location could not be more perfect.
