• Prashant (10/5): Comfortable and thoughtfully managed boutique hotel - The hotel was very thoughtfully managed, with great attention to detail and genuinely warm hospitality throughout our stay. The staff was attentive, welcoming, and always ready to help, which made the experience very comfortable. The location was also excellent, with cafes, malls, and sightseeing spots around the Cinnamon Gardens area conveniently close by. Nothing as such. The stay was smooth and comfortable overall.

The staff is friendly and helpful; I was even welcomed with a delicious passion fruit sorbet upon arrival, which was the perfect refreshing touch on a very hot day. The property itself is stunning, filled with beautiful paintings and sculptures, and everything is impeccably cared for and maintained. My room was great, especially the extremely comfortable bed and high-quality linens. Furthermore, both the breakfast and dinner served at the lodge were absolutely delicious. The only drawback was the lack of acoustic isolation in the rooms. I could hear the staff talking outside in the patio and bar areas. I recommend bringing earplugs if you are a light sleeper, but otherwise, it is a fantastic place to stay!

• Tamara (10/5): Feels like home - What a lovely choice we made, this place is much better than a chain 5 stars hotels, the reason is because of the staff, the staff make you feel that you are in your own home, or the only one staying at the hotel though the hotel had other residents. The staff are amazing, special thanks to Andrew, Aron and Ravi, of course the house cleaning staff for keeping this place spotless, and the security guards, the breakfast was fantastic and the drinks Aaron prepares are so delicious and on spot. We were upgraded to a beautiful room with a small garden, the room had everything you need and the toiletries are too many. The location is great too, so quiet and full of tranquility. I highly recommend this hotel and we are definitely coming back as we come to Sri Lanka once a year. Such a special experience

The rooms were really comfortable and it was perfect for the start to our Sri Lanka trip after a long flight. The location, near the lake, was lovely and easy to get to all the main sights in Colombo. From the moment we arrived, all the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive and looked after us throughout our stay. The Sri Lankan breakfast was delicious and there was lots of it!! • Ute (10/5): Sehr schön und wunderbar ruhig! - Wir hatten einen wunderbaren Aufenthalt in diesem kleinen Hotel in Colombo. Die Lage ist wirklich unschlagbar – zentral und dennoch angenehm ruhig in einer kleinen Seitenstraße. Sehenswürdigkeiten, Restaurants und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten waren bequem zu Fuß erreichbar. Die Zimmer sind sehr schön eingerichtet und der Service hervorragend, zur Begrüßung gab es angewärmte Tücher und Eis und im Zimmer frische Blumen. Ein sehr leckeres und riesiges Frühstück wird auf der überdachten Terrasse serviert. Insgesamt eine klare Empfehlung für alle, die in Colombo eine gut gelegene und komfortable Unterkunft mit persönlichem Flair suchen.

It seems like many of them go through a binary checklist. E.g., we arrived for breakfast a little early. Instead of asking us to be seated in the lounge and getting us coffee, they asked us to come back at the time breakfast was ready. These small details are important to the customer experience.

• Andrew (9/5): A Bright, Stylish Retreat Close to the Lake - A very good interior design inspired by bright, glass-fronted architecture, beautifully integrated into the surrounding greenery. As the name suggests, this boutique hotel is located close to the lake. The rooms are tastefully styled, with attractive stone bathrooms featuring rather average stonework and traditional British-style dual water taps. The reception staff were exceptionally kind and courteous, as was one of the waiters who welcomed us with ice cream and later served delicious marmalades at breakfast. The food in the restaurant is very tasty — we especially recommend the tagliatelle with calamari, the Japanese beef, and the Mongolian noodles. Breakfasts are à la carte; if you would like to enjoy a delicious local breakfast in the hotel restaurant, you need to inform the staff one day in advance. The head of housekeeping is excellently organized — a very reliable and professional person. The traditional British-style separate hot and cold taps, while visually appealing, were personally rather inconvenient for everyday use.Although we were informed immediately after check-in that Sri Lankan breakfast needs to be ordered a day in advance, this detail was unfortunately lost in the amount of information received at arrival. Perhaps it would be better not to make such a distinction, or alternatively to provide a gentle reminder later — for example, with a note in the room.These observations are merely minor details and do not affect the overall positive impression of the stay.

• Doris (8/5): Stilvolles kleines Hotel an zentraler, ruhiger Lage. - Dieses kleine Hotel liegt sehr zentral, aber absolut ruhig. Uns hat das Restaurant mit der Bar gefallen. Man bekommt auch spät abends noch einen Drink. Das Frühstück wird auf der gedeckten Terrasse serviert. Man kann entweder srilankisches Frühstück bestellen (am Vorabend) oder westliches. Das Personal war freundlich und zuvorkommend. Das Zimmer ist etwas düster. Gestört hat uns vor allem die schlechte Beleuchtung im Bad. Schminken/Rasieren ist schwierig.

• Torsten (7/5): Ruhige Lage mit kleinen Abstrichen - Ruhige, stadtnah gelegene Unterkunft in angenehmer, etwas zurückgezogener Lage. Mit dem Tuk Tuk ist das Zentrum dennoch unkompliziert erreichbar. Besonders überzeugt hat das reichhaltige und qualitativ sehr gute Frühstück. Das Zimmer befand sich unmittelbar neben der Bar. Durch die geringe Schalldämmung war der Geräuschpegel leider spürbar hoch. Eine bessere Isolierung oder klarere Hinweise bei der Buchung wären hilfreich.

The staff were very welcoming and we had a lovely homemade iced fruit stick on arrival. On our last day we had an early flight so we were given a packed breakfast to take with us to eat at the airport which was lovely. Nothing.

• Jelena (1/5): Poor management and zero respect for paying guests - To be fair, the hotel design is very nice and modern, but unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. This was one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve had, entirely due to poor planning and complete disregard for guests’ comfort. The hotel itself is nice but with almost no facilities and no pleasant common or chill areas where guests can relax —or at least they didn't show us where that is- definitely not what you would expect at this price point. We paid extra for a late check-out yet were assigned a room directly above ongoing construction works. Starting from 7 a.m., the noise was unbearable — constant drilling, hammering, and crashing sounds, making it feel like the room was part of the construction site. Resting or sleeping was completely impossible. The hotel was clearly aware of the construction but still chose to place guests in these rooms without any warning, apology, or attempt to resolve the situation. This is not bad luck — this is bad management and a total lack of respect for paying guests. Nice design alone does not make up for such a poor experience. We would not recommend staying here.

• Marcel (7/5): Bit disappointing - Pleasant room. Good location. Good breakfast. We booked this hotel since we have been at another Nyne hotel, which was exceptional. But this time we were disappointed. Reception was lukewarm, very unusual in Sri Lanka. Luggage was taken to the room by two seemingly angry guys (they were not probably). Add to this the dark interior plus the gloomy paintings (a pile of "demons" at the reception) and we felt not at ease. Later at breakfast we met other personnel that were fine. The room is fine, except perhaps for a noisy AC. There is no pool.
• Cyril (6/5): - Staff is friendly and helpful Half of the rooms have 0 view (you have a view on a wall at a 2 meters distance from the window) and are basically just next to the kitchen and restaurants. You can hear the staff working there until late in the evening. Not the expected comfort. The room is super basic, no style. And the breakfast is only served after 8am (you won’t take it if you work early or have a flight before 11:30 am as the airport is 1 hour away, they can provide some basic sandwiches though). Be careful of the unusual charges on top of the displayed amount on Booking. I should have read the negative comments but definitely don’t go there if you expect a 4 or 5 stars hotel.

• Kylie (9/5): City oasis - Secluded small hotel in the heart of Colombo. The main building is charming and we were well looked after during our short stay. The staff were very helping and while we couldn’t enjoy the breakfast due to any early flight out, we were provided with sandwiches and fruit for our journey. The restaurant has a sophisticated European menu. Because our room was near the bar it was a little noisy later in the evening when the staff were cleaning up.

• Stuart (8/5): Nice, comfortable hotel in Colombo - Lovely design, comfy bed, good room aircon, the lady on reception was super helpful. The food in the restaurant is very overpriced - they charged us LKR1300 for a small bottle of water with lunch, which left a bit of a bad taste. Also no air con in any of the communal areas due to the open plan layout.

Friendly and very accommodating staff at all levels. Good laundry service. The breakfast here is a definite stand out/highlight (both western and Sri Lankan) with great coffee! Highly recommend - under rated option in Colombo. Sometimes it was a little noisy (e.g. noise from the bar/outside the window in the morning or music in the evenings) but not excessively so. Would not stop me from staying again.

When our other hotel informed us they had double booked one of our nights, I scrambled to find another option. We were very lucky to happen upon this one. Beautifully decorated, great location if you like to walk, very good breakfast and accommodating staff. We stayed in room number 13 which had a little courtyard just below the restaurant. Unbelievable value as well. Ended up being as nice as our other hotel for half the price No complaints

As a positive and a negative, they are in a cul de sac, which makes a quiet location (good), but you have to walk out and around the cul de sac to reach the temple. It is still highly recommended

• Safira (6/5): Not good value for money compared to other hotels in the vicinity - The decor is lovely. The beds and pillows were uncomfortable, the shower water was cold, reception did not check back if the cold water issue was resolved (in other words, you had to keep chasing reception and the issue was ultimately not resolved), the hotel is located close to a pitch where loud parties take place on Friday nights (and maybe other nights) or loud cricket matches take place (on Saturday mornings at least), the hotel had lost our reservation, and then later asked for payment after we had checked out. Overall, not good value for money if you expect a quiet/ambient atmosphere, hot water, and staff that are a bit more proactive when there are snags in your stay.

My husband had the Sri Lankan breakfast and quite possibly one of the best of our 3 weeks trip round the island. I have the omelette which was outstanding. The staff were all very friendly. We had a room on the 1st floor and it was very noisy at night and first thing in a morning.

Персонал очень дружелюбный отзывчивый. Завтраки прекрасные, на выбор 8 вариантов, включая 3 из местной кухни. Небольшой ухоженный дворик с растительностью и двумя небольшими бассейнами с рыбками. Очень романтично и красиво. Если еще будем в Коломбо, то только сюда. Не то чтобы не понравилось, просто странно. Сезон манго, а в меню его нет, и также нет сока и напитков на основе манго.

You can listen to the frogs song in the evening, watch the squirrels play while eating your breakfast while looking for yet another bird.
• Christine (10/5): Mittendrin und trotzdem ruhig gelegen - Wir können es nur jedem empfehlen! Das Hotel liegt sehr zentral, dafür aber am Ende einer Sackgasse. Daher kaum bis kein Verkehr und somit, für Colombo Verhältnisse, unglaublich ruhig. Unser Zimmer war sehr schön und gut ausgestattet. Aus den Fenstern kann ma zwar nur eine Wand sehen, dafür kann auch keiner reingucken. Es gibt genug Bereiche außerhalb des Zimmers, wo man sich aufhalten kann. Das Frühstück ist sehr gut und man hat die Auswahl aus verschiedenen Angeboten (kein Buffet). Alles frisch zubereitet und die Pancakes… ein wahrer Traum! Wir haben einmal abends dort gegessen. Es ist etwas teurer, aber sehr lecker. Das Einzige, was wir erwähnen würden, ist: das Warmwasser in der Dusche hat etwas länger auf sich warten lassen.

We really appreciated the filter water that was provided in our room after a long flight! I would recommend staying here for a night or two if visiting Colombo! The only downfall was that we had requested early check in at the time of booking but had not been contacted by the property to confirm/deny this. We would’ve liked to have known in advance that this couldn’t be accommodated
