The room was perfect, very comfortable, great little details. Beds were very comfortable. He explained breakfast and let me know there was movies I could check out if I wanted to. The room was pristine- jacuzzi tub was comfortable and relaxing. So many little touches like chocolates, local candies, teas and coffee,papertowels, shampoos and shower gels and an abundance of crisp clean towels. The tv was of ample size, as quaint as this motel is it is packed full of amenities and clean as can be and the customer service that I experienced was tops. I will be coming back and completely recommend you stay if your gonna go fishing or a romantic night in.

The coffee basket had hot cocoa, which is a great addition! I love the beautiful location. All the extra little amenities were appreciated. I did not like my lecture on properly reserving rooms. I felt like the owner (I assume) is angry about stuff outside my control and as a customer, I don't want responsibility for that shit placed on me. The information she shared was VERY helpful, but the delivery was very off-putting!!

- kevin (10/5): - Stayed in mid February, when it was very cold. Didn't get to take advantage of kayak rentals to explore the large Nehalem River estuary right out the back door of the motel. Dining option in Wheeler are minimal, but Manzanita, Cannon Beach and Seaside are close by. So is many fishing opportunities.

It was quiet and clean. was a little odd to have the shower/tub in the middle of the main room. not a fan of that. a bit out dated but very clean. we traveled for 10 days and spent them in 9 different hotels. this was the most expensive and the most dated was def not worth the amount we paid. but a great choice for all the fisherman that we saw in the morning Was not a fan of being lectured about using Expedia from the owner.

- Jessica (7/5): Good - Easy to find from the 101. Quiet night sleeping. Very clean hotel. Lovely dock overlooking the water. Owners are very friendly when checking in. They offer a cute breakfast basket to take to your room. It is a remodeled vintage motor lodge, so you have to manage your expectations. Cars parked directly outside your window, other guests walking by looking right inside your windows is a bit unnerving. We finally pulled the drapes for privacy, but then had to deal with lack of airflow (no hotels on the coast have hvac systems). We didn't think to check if the minifridge was on before putting our food in there. Discovered the next morning after everything spent the night in a warm fridge and had to throw out food. Charged a $10 boat mooring fee even though we obviously didn't have a boat.

- Melissa (10/5): Lots of bang for your buck! - The owners were most helpful and kind. The room was made up for all four of us friends, so we did not have to fuss with the futon, which was nice. The room was small, but we weren't there to play inside! Shower had great water pressure and plenty of hot water. There was a nice bar area with a coffee pot, microwave and sink outside of the bathroom. The drawers in the bar had plenty of silverware, cups and plates. It was just a great stay! Next time we will add a day just to go kayaking off of their pier!

I will definitely go back with friends for crabbing and fishing this summer. We have stayed on 3 different rooms at this location and have been equally pleased each time. Everything was great. The only thing I didn’t like is that we couldn’t stay longer and I did not have my boat with me. I don’t have anything negative to say at all about the property or the staff

- Ck10629 (10/5): Best place to stay within 100 miles up and down the coast from Wheeler; Don't miss it! - The Wheeler on the Bay Lodge is a surprisingly perfect location. I was expecting a motel and got a small resort, quiet, serene, beautifully located next to the marina. The rooms are big compared to what you normally get at a motel, very clean (as in VERY), well equipped with functioning appliances. My room had a small deck in the back which was a really nice place to just rest a bit and take in the scenery. They have a dock and you can apparently rent canoes to move around the Nehalem River (which I didn't do), get on a boat for some fishing and while I was having my coffee early in the morning I could see some lucky anglers pull sizeable fish from the river. Bonus points: there is an excellent restaurant right next door, the Salmonberry. Great food you probably wouldn't expect in a place like Wheeler with "al fresco" right on the banks of the Nehalem. Spectacular. It's not that I didn't like it but one needs to know that other than the Salmonberry (closed on Thursdays) there isn't much around the Wheeler Lodge. You need to bring some food or take a short drive for additional restaurants but you may not want to leave while you're there. There is a good liquor store across the street that closes at 6pm.

Loved hotel. - We had a great experience at the Wheeler Marina, clean, well appointed and they provided movies and a selection of breakfast foods the night before. We also found a terrific dinner spot called the “Night Owl!” The rockfish special was amazing.
