• TimiraGupta (10/5): Best mix of nostalgia and comfort! - This is a sweet little hotel right on marine drive with the most magnificent views of the sea with the occasional train chugging past. The place is maintained very well. We stayed in the topmost floor in the room with a jacuzzi, which also has a gorgeous balcony. (Only downside that the wi-fi doesn’t reach the room upstairs) The beds and linen provided were fluffy and new and super soft and made you feel very very cared for! The place is managed by a wonderful manager and a very helpful team. The ocean front hotel has the perfect nostalgic vibe for a great start or end to your holiday! We had a super stay here ❤️

The staff were very helpful, and manager was very friendly and flexible to needs. If you want a place with peace, no distractions, this is the place Will come back for sure whenever I come to Sri Lanka

The staff provided great service — they were welcoming, friendly, and always ready to help. Overall, a comfortable and pleasant experience. Would definitely recommend! Good for solo travellers too.
• 606chamindas (6/5): Very poor maintain apartment - Room infested with ants, staff looking finding difficult communicate in English, AC was there but not working properly, upstairs balcony was not maintained, had loads dirt in Jacuzzi, no hot water coming jacuzzi as well. Convenient place to travel around Colombo, but not up to the standard for price we are paying. It should less than £30.00 per day. Room service not unless you ask for it, Not up to standerd at all. I want recommend any one coming here.
• RAKdec (8/5): Last night in Sri Lanka - Last night in Sri Lanka before flying home. Situated overlooking the ocean, the staff of this hotel were extremely helpful, attentive and friendly. The rooms were pleasant with a very good ensuite bathroom. Breakfasts, both Western and Sri Lankan, were very tasty and plentiful. We really appreciated the top floor terrace with our last "Arrack" night cap! The proximity of the trains may be an issue for some but Colombo is a bustling city.
• shantic2018 (10/5): Comfortable beds, delicious traditional breakfast, superior customer service - As a solo female traveler I was looking for a comfortable place to stay in Colombo. Ocean Front organized my airport pick up, took exceptional care of me while I stayed at the hotel, and helped organize my transportation to my next destination at a great price. The staff were so sweet and attentive. I always felt safe and comfortable. The traditional Sri Lankan breakfast of string hoppers with Dahl was delicious, beds were comfortable, bathrooms were clean, and the location is very central. I’d definitely stay again if I return to Colombo. Be sure to bring ear plugs as you can hear the train. Another huge benefit is it’s one block from the grocery store (Food City) and there’s a fridge in the room. Thanks to Ocean Front for making my stay in Colombo a great one!
• agnesfeigl (10/5): View on ocean and everyday life - We were very satisfied with the privately-run, small hotel from which we started our Sri Lanka tour. The room was very clean and the bathroom quite stylish. Big windows open to the sea and also on the train line to Colombo city centre. We found it very interesting to see the trains passing with people on their way to work. The Sri Lanka breakfast was very tasty. We stayed two nights.

• fionayogablu (10/5): A Colombo gem! - Loved my stay here. Very comfy room and bed (slept like a baby), ocean view, sparkling clean, delicious breakfast and fantastic service by the staff. Great location with all you need (including meals) within walking distance or easy hailing of a tuk tuk. Transport to the airport was arranged for me at a very reasonable rate. Can't fault a thing and I will happily return when I am back in Colombo.

Thanks to the recommendation of the manager we were able to get a good driver who took us almost everywhere. Our room had a jacuzzi with a view on the ocean. The location too is worth mentioning as it is close to many restaurants as well as the heart of Colombo.
• 443beckc (10/5): Great Hotel! - Only stayed here for 1 night but I really enjoyed the place. As soon as I arrived the staff were really helpful and helped me organise the rest of my trip with help with train times, booking etc. The room was nice and roomy with nice decor. The location was nice by the sea and next to a shop. I ate here in the evening too and enjoyed a lovely vegetarian meal. Can't recommend enough!

The room was beautiful and comfortable, and the location was great for exploring Colombo. But what was extremely helpful was that they were very helpful when it came to organising our trip throughout the country, both helping us with a driver upon departure from the hotel as well as later on our trip remotely. Thanks a lot for your great hospitality and service!

The manager helped us find a driver and car for our Sri Lanka trip for a very reasonable rate. This hotel was better than we expected. The view of the sea from the balcony at the top was nice. The hotel is close to the sights in Colombo.

• rubikon (6/5): Lots of stairs and the sound of trains. - Booked a room for two nights after arriving in Sri Lanka. Our room was clean and the bathroom was spacious and we had plenty of hot water. the AC was not great. Nothing is on the ground floor. The reception is on first floor and you need to climb about 15 steps to reach it. If your room is on the top floor, it is a bit of a workout! The staff are very helpful, and will carry your bags up and down. Everyone wants you to enjoy your stay. We had breakfast one morning and it was delicious. There is a train track opposite the hotel and you can heard the trains go by.
• rahulpat (8/5): Better than expected for a budget hotel - I booked a room here just to unwind before a late flight. It is a tiny hotel on the ocean front with just a few floors. For the price, I was surprised...the bathroom looked like it was recently renovated, and the place was clean and functional enough. Not particularly great wi-fi or A/C and the bed was pretty basic, but for the price, it was better than what I expecting. I liked that they had a small terrace on the 3rd floor with some views of the surrounding cityscape and ocean. The neighborhood isn't exactly a big tourist draw since all of the sights are in other areas, but it is still a nice area. A proper cafe is right underneath and I definitely recommend a dinner at Palmyra (unfortunately, not a ton of food options close by). For the price, I can't complain.

Only a little bit noisy due to the railway passing directly in front of the hotel, next to the sea. Hotel owner very friendly and helpful.

• eda0inat (10/5): Ocean Front February 2019 - My friend and I arrived to the Ocean Front for the first night of our trip. We arrived at lunch time, the staff were very friendly and so helpful. The hotel has beautiful views. Rooms really clean, air con great bathroom and showers, breakfast was awesome too, I recommend it to start the day off! We'll stay here again if we're in Colombo.
• vickyvixvick (8/5): Great service - This small hotel is within easy reach of the centre of Colombo but at a lower budget. Our room was basic but had everything we needed. Where this property excelled itself was the service, everyone was very welcoming and helpful, particularly when trying to resolve our problems getting hold of our local tour company. Management were quick to give assistance with anything we needed. Breakfast was good with a variety of fruit, yoghurt, toast or cereal and cooked egg and sausages. The rooftop terrace was less inviting in reality. But the only real downside for us was the proximity to the well used train line, so light/medium sleepers may want to give this a miss.
• search4sun_10 (8/5): Nice little hotel - Arrived at around 6.30am from airport. Sat around very tired waiting for a room, decided to have breakfast whilst we waited. Thankfully someone left early and vacated a room which they immediately cleaned for us and we took procession around 9.30am. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Room basic, good aircon, a little noisy from the trains. We would use this hotel again. Oh we went to pay and gave the guy the money US$, only for him to bring it back saying book g.com has already paid him. We would not have known until returning home so 10/10 for honesty.
• Sudesh8180 (8/5): A very good place to stay with a sea view but dont expect a lot. - This is indeed a good place to stay but please don't expect peace and a excellent service. Pro's: 1. The best part of the hotel is its location...Bang across the sea giving you a best view of the ocean. 2. Rooms are clean, good and adequate in size. Perfect for a couple. 3. Easy accessibility from anywhere in Colombo as its quite on the Marine drive road and closer to the main Colombo - Galle Rd. Con's: 1. Limited and standard breakfast - Nothing special. There are better eating options near the hotel. A supermarket at a few meters of walking distance for anything that you need. 2. Frequent noise from the trains that pass near the hotel. Don't expect silence here but if you or your kids love trains, it would be fun. Would recommend this hotel if you want sea view else look for better options
• Gourisankar (4/5): Not what is told or written - We received shock when we checked in the hotel . It is not worth its money lacking lots of basic facilities . Very steep stairs, no lift but rooms in fourth floor . It is a small boutique hotel without any frills . Will grade as an one star hotel but do not get misguided with reviews and star ratings !

• Andreas (8/5): Angenehm klein, mit Meerblick - Colombo ist nicht wirklich einen Aufenthalt wert. Aber das OceanFront ist okay, wenn man Preis / Leistung betrachtet sogar zeimlich gut. Das Personal ist hilfsbereit, die Zimmer sind okay. Es ist gut gelegen, wenn auch nahe der Bahnlinie. Die Züge fahren aber nur tagsüber.

I never used tuktuk taxi. Best to make tours through Sri Lanka tourist office, 20 minute walk but tour pick up at Ocean Front. Everything worked out great. Would definitely stay again.

• Bob (10/5): Outstanding Place to stay in Colombo - This is an outstanding place to stay. Being in Colombo 3 you are not far from any of the sightseeing/shopping adventures to be had. The staff is very courteous and professional who will go the "extra mile" to ensure your needs are being taken care of. Breakfast is great and at a good price. It is more of a bungalow atmosphere than a major hotel but just as nice. Only thing to remember is that since this is not a major hotel it is best to order your food for Dinner/supper at least 1 hour before you want to eat. Everything is delicious and freshly prepared. Outstanding place to stay and I for one will be a returning guest for many more stays. Close to Railroad tracks so you will have little noise between 6 AM till 8PM
• Verified traveler (2/5): no privacy, peeked into my room from jacuzzi - My room had a jacuzzi outside of my room window. I was not informed it is public jacuzzi, so I opened the window, relaxed, and I was sleeping. Then I woke up as people had a party outside jacuzzi. I noticed young guys are peeping into my room through windows. I am so surprised and scared, but they stayed until midnight. The hotel was fully booked and they could not change my room. There are ants in the room, doors were widely opened owing to the heavy storm, but it is not a big issue in Sli Lanka. Peeper's encouraged design is the big problem. I do not recommend this hotel to whom wants privacy, especially young woman & couples. Other than that, this hotel is a good location, nice view of the sea. 窓の外に公共のジャグジーがあり、暗くて気づかなかったので夜にカーテンをせずに窓を開けて寝ていたら、ジャグジーで若者が酒を飲んでパーティをしており、部屋の中を覗かれていました。全くプライバシーのかけらもなく、大変ショックをうけ、眠れませんでした。 満室のため、部屋の変更もしてもらえず、怖くて部屋からも出られませんでした。４階なのに蟻が行列していたり、嵐で急にドアが開いたりというような点はスリランカだからと許容できますが、覗き見されるようなホテルには2度と泊まりません！ ただし、この部屋以外は海沿いのホテルで景色も良く、快適だと思います。

• kazu (10/5): 海辺のペンションの様な佇まい - メインストリートのバーガーキング正面の路地を海にむかった突き当たりにあります。ホテル入り口は外の階段を上がってインターフォンを押さないとドアが開きません。 エレベータは無くて最上階の４階までは荷物重いと大変かもしれません。 海が目の前で、海岸沿いに線路があります。時々通る列車は、スコールが来たかと思うが、晴れてて安心すること数回。 私は英語苦手ですがスタッフが親切な対応で、とても安心しました。お土産を買うのに近所のスーパーは便利でした。 また伺おうと思っています。
• David W (10/5): Sweet Stay in Colombo - A very lovely small hotel with a wonderful view of the ocean! The staff is very warm and friendly. The room was huge and comfortable. Wifi was fast and steady. The breakfast was very delicious. Easy walk to downtown Colombo and plenty of restaurants around the area. The airport transfer was perfect!

• Leslie (10/5): Tiny Colombo Gem - Really nice little find for Colombo; clean and comfortable and you can't beat the sliver of ocean view you get. You will hear trains constantly, so bring earplugs if it bothers you, but I love it. Staff was over-the-top friendly and nothing was too much bother for them. They didn't even charge me for the laundry I sent out. I'd definitely return.

• Abdurrahman (10/5): It's like a 5 stars hotel - From outside, it looks like an ordinary building, but once you get in, it's like a 5 star hotel. Definitely better than shown on the photographs. The ocean view is so beautiful. I cant find enough words to tell about the staff. They really know how to make you feel like you're at home. Location is perfect. On the maps of Colombo, it shows like the fort region is the center, but actually there's not much to do there. Being on the ocean front is better. You can take a walk by the ocean side and take stunning photos. You have to know that the restaurants in Colombo are a little bit expensive. I had lunch in The Ocean Front twice. The price is almost the half of the restaurants and the food is more delicious.

• Tim (8/5): Good value stylish hotel - The hotel is a 40 walk for Fort, or an easy tuk tuk ride. Beautiful sea views, but next the a road and main rail line to Galle, so it can be noisy. Breakfast and service was good

Rooms are offered with ocean view but only one room seem to have the full view. You can get a glimpse of the ocean from any other room. Also, it is close to the main road and the rail track so it can get very noisy at some times.

• Ida (10/5): Best hotel in Colombo - We had the most amazing stay at The Ocean Front Hotel. The room was lovely, with a private balcony and a view over the ocean (sunset included). The staff is absolutely incredibly friendly and helpful. We loved every minute. Tip: make sure to try their version of a Sri Lankan breakfast. It was some of the best food we had all week.
