- Mik2424 (10/5): Lovely relaxed hotel in the jungle - We absolutely loved our stay at the Jungle Beach Hotel. The pool/ restaurant area is perfect for spotting wildlife. We saw squirrel monkeys, white faced monkeys, howler monkeys, geckos, large blue butterflies, and deer. It was amazing to hear the howler monkeys. The room was comfortable, clean, and the bed was huge! We enjoyed the food and cocktails- one night we had one of the best mojitos we’ve ever had! It has a relaxed vibe. It was a very short walk to the beach, where we rented sun loungers, and saw toucans and monkeys. There was a small shop nearby (more shops/ restaurants are approx 10 min walk away). All the staff we spoke to were friendly, but we spoke to Carlos the most- he is such a genuinely lovely guy and knew how to get the squirrel monkeys to stop off by the pool on their daily travels! Before our trip we booked a different hotel nearby for the second half of our holiday, but we wish we’d stayed at Jungle Beach for longer- it’s such a special place!
- KamiMac (6/5): Eco Lodge Like Close to Beach - Stayed in 5 places on our trip in Costa Rica. On par with many of the eco lodges we stayed at but this “hotel” cost us 200% more than other similar places: The good: - walking distance to the beach - very friendly staff in the restaurant - rooms for big families - monkeys to entertain during breakfast The bad: - The price (we booked late admittedly) is not expensive, it is totally disproportionate to quality - Rooms are very very basic, with cracks in the wall. No real showers just the heated shower heads budget lodge version - Smell and noise - smelled of sewage when entering the grounds. Despite small road, a lot of noise traffic Other considerations: - try the Igloo hotel across the road, so much more value - You will need a car (or bus trips) to access most things beyond the one beach so paying for this location is not worth it - At one third of the price, I’d say 4 stars or not review, but current rating is totally inflated probably due to animal sightings.

- Y5993RQdaniellep (2/5): Would never recommend staying here - If I could give the Jungle Beach Hotel a ZERO, I would. I booked a room with free cancellation and a fully refundable reservation as long as it was cancelled by the beginning of March 2026. In June 2025, I cancelled the reservation and expected the refund. Seven weeks later, the hotel had still not refunded my deposit. I had multiple attempts to communicate with them via Expedia (where the booking was made/cancelled) and directly with the hotel on WhatsApp. They replied to me the first couple of times telling me they would send the refund, and they never did. They then stopped responding to my attempts to communicate. All messages were shown as read of WhatsApp, so I know they were getting every message. I let them know in the final message that I needed some communication or I would be filing a dispute with the credit card made to book. After filing a dispute with my credit card company, the hotel FINALLY refunded me via PayPal after seven weeks. This place is absolutely awful and they have terrible communication and customer service. It’s obvious they had no intention of ever refunding my money until they were pressured into it. I will never recommend this place. DO NOT STAY AT THE JUNGLE BEACH HOTEL!
- sherry (10/5): - When we pulled up to the Jungle Beach Hotel we found a charming hotel carved into the jungle We awoke to howler monkeys in the trees and watched deer and capuchin monkeys from the pool and outdoor dining area. Truly Costa Rican Magic!
- W4859LQnathanc (10/5): Great Hotel for Wildlife - Had a great 5 night stay at the Jungle Beach. During our stay, we saw white-face monkeys, squirrel monkeys, and howler monkeys (yes, they are loud and will wake you up bright and early if you are a light sleeper), as well as deer and macaws. The hotel is a short walk to the beach and a 15 minute walk to the national park. The hotel bar and restaurant were great. We got breakfast, lunch, and dinner there as well as happy hour drinks. The pool is small, but a good to dip your feet in. Great option for the value.

- A9386EBmatte (10/5): Great people, great location - If you're a tourist in Quepos, you're probably there to visit Manuel Antonio see some wildlife and hang out on Playa Espadilla. (Or maybe you're there for sport fishing. I don't know much about that). Anyway, the staff at this place was absolutely fantastic. And we got to this hotel about three hours before check in, and had lunch and played scrabble next to the pool, and saw a huge troupe of white-faced capuchins (the locals do not like these monkeys. Be forewarned, they are cute but do not approach them. One was hanging out on a railing on this little bridge in Manuel Antonio, and my wife tried to take its photo and it jumped on her and tried to steal her purse. There is one, specifically, that comes by this hotel like three times per day, often with an accomplice, and you can watch them plot to steal candy bars from the little canteen shop near the pool. It's funny until you witness how destructive they become when the bartender Carlos spritzes him in the face with a water bottle) and after those left, a separate troupe of squirrel monkeys came by. Those are very sweet. Photo attached. Other times we were either eating breakfast or hanging out by the pool, we saw a couple of toucans, an iguana, a couple of scarlet macaws. The small pool area has a lot of shade if you're an instant sunburn person like me. They clean leaves out of that pool all day. And getting to the beach involves looking both ways across a two lane but busy road and then walking about 100 yards. There is a small convenience store with a liquor aisle right when you cross the street. The food at Jungle Beach is great, but there is also another good bar/restaurant, Buena Vista, that has rentable umbrellas and beach chairs set up at the end of that gravel road. They had amazing tuna steaks when we were there. Manuel Antonio and the bars, restaurants, bodegas/grocery stores right outside of it are less than a 10-minute walk down a beautiful beach (although, pay for a guide if you go to Manuel Antonio. They have telescopes and can help you a lot, and Jungle Beach got one to pick us up early, no problem).

The beach was less than a 5 minute drive. You could see and hear the monkeys. I would definitely stay there again.

- sallyhU4631GP (10/5): Great Hotel - Lovely hotel in Manual Antonio. Rooms were very clean and spacious, staff very friendly and helpful. Although close to the road it’s very quiet at night, short cut level walk to beautiful beach through a side road. Be prepared to be woken early by the Howler monkeys who appear at breakfast time. Bus stop right outside which goes every 15 minutes to Quepos/Manual Antonio national park which was stunning. Rooms were very clean and spacious, staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely relaxing 4 night stay after a 9 day trip with Intrepid.

- Isaac (10/5): - A very suitable place to stay in Manuel Antonio. Convenient beach access and within easy walking distance to good restaurants. We saw several monkeys while around the pool one day. The on-site food is a little pricey, but they open pretty early which was helpful for us one morning. It was nice to be able to organize transport back to San Jose directly with the hotel (pay in cash to save on taxes!).
- tysonk409 (4/5): Not what we expected - We were very disappointed in this hotel and would not recommend. The front desk person was not welcoming at all. Walked us to the room, unlocked the door, mumbled a few rules and he was gone. The room was tiny, bathroom was even smaller with a barely running showerhead. Pool did not look like the pics and be prepared for steps. There is no secure parking, 3 next to the hotel and the rest on the road, trying to backout was difficult with traffic and curved roads. In addition, no blanket for the bed, a sheet and a thin spread. No beach view and a bit of a walk to the beach. Was walkable to park

- Peter (6/5): - Walking distance to Manuel Antonio Park. Unfortunately it is very close to the main road - we were woken up every morning at 5 am by traffic noise. Stay away from room 5 - extremely small for 4 people, it overlooks the road and there is an AC unit right outside the entrance door. It is very noisy, dark and uncomfortable room. Parking is a bit crowded but we got a good spot and never moved out car. Overall hotel premises are nice, there is a small pool right by the restaurant area. Good friendly staff, Leo was fun to talk to. When AC in our room leaked they immediately sent a technician, everything was fixed while we were out. We'll try a different hotel next time.
- Somes (2/5): - Worst hotel I stayed ever in my life. This is super expensive tourist trap. Please stay away from this property. There are lot of better options in this area. Unclean room, broken down super old and rickety furnitures and overall dirty and smelly. Expedia should exclude this property from their platform.
- Jai (8/5): - 5 mins walk to the beach, decent size rooms, small but clean swimming pool, good drinks and food menu. It's right next to the road, so some people may find it a little loud, but it was good for the cost we paid. One can definitely stay there a couple of nights without much issue. Their front-desk manager, Leo, is a hilarious and very helpful guy. He helped us with our ATV and Park bookings.

There are no comfortable chairs, you have to sit on twin trundle beds to watch TV, one bed collapsed, no warm or hot water, etc…. Overpriced for what you get.
- Brian (2/5): - First off the staff was awesome but that was about the only positive thing about this place. The monkey suite was not very good or even remotely nice. The road noise was very loud from 6am to 11pm. Beds were very uncomfortable. No one in our family slept. The room had a very weird layout and there was a tripping hazard/step in the middle of the room. The porch area could not be accessed without moving a couch. The beach was not that close. Pool was very small and the food was terrible. In all our years of traveling this is the first time we have ever just left the place and forfeited our money. We only stayed one night out of four and left to rent a villa which was much nicer. I did bring to the managements attention but there wasn’t much they were willing to do or that they could do. For the money do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.
- luggageinhand (6/5): Old Tired and Noisey - Noise noise noise. The bedrooms in the suite face the road and about three feet from it. All you hear is cars, motorcycles without mufflers and buses all day long. The room smelled like mold and lots of stairs. Wifi is slow like an old dialup. Curtains don't close all the way so lots of light leaks which is a problem if you have issues sleeping light. No view and about a 10 minute walk down the busy road for restaurants. One outlet in the bedroom and its behind the bed and can't get to it. The suite is a large size if you want to pay $400 a night. Too many nice places to stay in Manuel Antonio I'd pass on this one. How this hotel got all these great reviews is mindboggling to me.

- Z8325ZJjohns (10/5): Great little hotel with character, good location and friendly staff - Spent eight nights for a family vacation in July. The hotel was our kind of place, not fancy, but with all of the things we were looking for. Close to some very nice beaches and the National Park, walking distance or short cab ride to restaurants. All of the staff were great, especially John at the front desk and Carlos in the bar.

We loved swimming in the pool surounded by the jungle. The location is perfect, you can reach the national parc Manuel Antonio and the beach by walking a few minutes. Bonus point : the cocktails were delicious!

We saw sooooooo much wildlife from the hotel, much more than in the park itself. And the beach was an easy three minute walk.
- alexisaU7192CY (8/5): A Good, No-Frills Hotel Close to the Beach and Manuel Antonio Park - My friend and I enjoyed our stay at Jungle Beach Hotel. We found the location ideal, situated a short walk down the hill to the beach and national park and a walk to some restaurants up the hill (just be mindful that there isn’t always a sidewalk and cars and buses drive quite fast). A car can take you farther up the hill for more restaurant selections or to Quepos, a few kilometers away. The pool and deck were very nice and clean. While breakfast was not included, it was a competitive price compared to nearby restaurants. The room was spacious and clean. It was slightly musty, but this is to be expected due to the constant humidity and heat of the jungle. The air conditioning worked amazingly but the water in our shower was warm at best. We didn’t have any howler monkeys wake us up in the morning, yet we did hear them in the distance during breakfast. Plus, one morning we saw Titi monkeys in the trees near the deck. The guys working the front desk were exceptionally kind. They gave us advice on where to go to eat and spend our time. Overall, we’re quite happy with our experience. Some notes: If you want to go to the beach, bring your own towel as there is a $15 charge for any hotel towels you take to the beach. Additionally, it is best to walk because parking by the beach is costly and the people trying to get you to park in their lots are persistent. Accessibility Note: We did not request but were given the accessible room on the property so we wanted to share our experience for anyone with accessibility needs. The ramp to reach the room is quite steep and would be difficult to navigate with a manual wheelchair. You must go through the gravel lot to get to the ramp (although a car could likely get you pretty close to the ramp). The bathroom is spacious and the shower has three grab bars. There is not a large space between the beds and the desk. I may not recommend this hotel for a non-ambulatory wheelchair user.

All of the restaurant staff was amazingly kind The reception guys were very helpful with information, getting our bags to and from the car, and everyone was in charge of keeping the kittys safe from the monkeys . - 444emilyp (10/5): Great hotel, great location, great staff - We had a wonderful stay for a few days at jungle beach. It’s perfectly located for the national park, beach and a handful of restaurants/bars. Getting to any of these is a breeze, but there is a cheap bus that runs regularly too. The room (7) was private, large and clean with good air con and a nice terrace for evening drinks. Beds were comfortable, shower was good. We really enjoyed the higgledy-piggledy quirky layout of the hotel and the steps didn’t bother us at all, but if you have some mobility issues maybe reconsider or request a lower floor room. The pool and restaurant area is a really nice place to hang out, the pool isn’t very big but it’s perfect for a dip to cool off. We ate breakfast and a dinner at the restaurant, there’s lots of choice and the food is nice enough and affordable enough - the coffee not so much though! The happy hour is 3-6pm and the drinks are really nice. You see lots of wildlife here, we saw howler monkeys, squirrel monkeys, deer and lizards not to mention the sweet resident cat. Special mention for the staff who are so helpful and friendly, especially Jon who helped us organise transportation with trusted taxi drivers multiple times and gave us great advice. I also had to have a package delivered by driver as I left some important things at my previous hotel. I was stressed about it but Jon took care of it no problem and told me ‘pura vida!’ All sorted and he kept in touch on WhatsApp I was really grateful. I’d recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Manuel Antonio.
- Katherine (8/5): True Jungle Hotel - The staff at this hotel were extremely attentive and friendly. They helped us book taxis to a restaurant in town, made sure our tour bus was coming when it was running late, and guided the pizza delivery person to the pool where we were trying to stay cool in the shade! Bar/restaurant service was pretty slow, but we were never in a hurry so didn't bother us too much. Bed mattresses were very firm. Be careful walking around the property though, as the concrete and gravel paths were uneven and we had to watch our step, especially after sunset. Monkeys at breakfast were the highlight and the beach was within walking distance.

The staff was very polite and helpful with everything, including setting up multiple last minute excursions for us. The ambiance is amazing, waking up to howler monkeys and having them run through the trees right above and beside the hotel. There is also a restaurant at the hotel that had great food and amazing drinks! I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay in Manuel Antonio.

This unique boutique hotel is well equipped to accommodate all needs with its nicely decorated spacious rooms, on-site restaurant, bar and pool, and enough tall trees to attract visiting monkeys. Plus, it’s minutes from the beach. The staff is gracious and eager to assist. Adrian and Jon at reception were terrific, recommending restaurants, helping us pick the activities for our three-generations, and advising us on transportation.
- Thomas (8/5): Great family suite with monkeys - The updated pool area and restaurant look good. We were in the family suite with 2 grandparents, 2 parents, and 2 kids. The space worked great, the kitchen was useful, and we could sit on the porch watch the monkeys on their ropes course. Our 3 stay here.
- jonbD1962NP (10/5): Friendly place and great location - We visited in March and booked last minute and fortunately was able to get the villa room which is good for a medium sized group of 5-10 people. The staff were very friendly and helpful and helped organize a quick tour for us as soon as we arrived. The location is nice as it's very close to the beach access and the National Park!

The pool was much smaller than the pictures make it appear but did have a nice shallow area for our 14mo old but dropped off to very deep. The shower temperature could not be controlled and was very hot. The restaurant on-site was not great but worked for the night we got in and we’re too exhausted to go out. The majority of staff were friendly. The best part was seeing monkeys all around the hotel! We heard the howler monkeys in the early morning hours very clearly. Overall, nothing fancy but worked out really well for our family. I would stay there again.

Nice bar and plunge pool. There are quite a few families. The Karahe bar will let you sit at their tables and chairs on the beach for free. Just be aware that their drinks are a little more expensive, in order to cover this.

- Gail (2/5): - We arrived at Jungle Beach Hotel on Oct 10th. We were so disappointed with the property. We booked it because it looked charming and the ads mentioned it was only steps from the beach. The room itself was dark, hot and the bed had actual grooves in it from the old mattress. They mentioned that the restaurant on the property was closed for repairs. The steps to the beach was a total lie. At 70 years old we were forced to walk along a busy highway. We walked to the beach and saw the prettiest beach hotel right on the water. We immediately booked the room for 10 days. We walked back to the Jungle Beach Hotel and checked out half an hour after we checked in. We explained to Esteban that the hotel was not as advertised and told him we were leaving. He said he would refund our money but that didn’t happen.

- Shiri (8/5): Great for families! - The Jungle Beach Hotel was perfect for our needs. The location was probably the best aspect of this little hotel. Wake up every morning to the beautiful sounds of jungle wildlife. We honestly did not expect to see so many monkeys so it was a wonderful surprise to see Howler monkeys and squirrel monkeys in the trees around the property. It was one of the best perks of our entire vacation. The beach access is so close, 3 minute walk down gravel road and it drops you into one of the best parts of Manuel Antonio Beach. The room itself was dated, but very clean and comfortable. We didn't spend much time there except to sleep so didn't need much more. The staff was helpful and a great resource for tips on where to eat and what to see. It was a great value for the price and we would stay here again.

I traveled alone & the staff was great, friendly and made me feel right at home. The pool is small, but again, 2 minute walk to the beach so that was not an issue for me. First packet of coffee in the room is free but then you do have to pay. They were changing the menu when I was there so that may have changed. I would stay here again.

When we brought it to their attention they sent someone in they dumped something down the drain and it smelt fine then 2 hours later it smelt again.. this process was repeated twice. They never offered a room switch or anything. I then went to ask for another coffee pod for the keurig machine in the room and they charged me for it. The location was good, close to everything and the staff at the restaurant were nice.

It was one of my worst hotel experiences of my life for 200 USD a night. It’s not worth it at all.

It was close to the beach and restaurants, there was hot water, great a/c, a bar and restaurant and it’s surrounded by rain forests with the sounds of nature through out the night. Not the most comfortable beds but again it’s not an expensive place. I’d recommend staying here. Also the bus stop is right outside so for 75 cents you can go up the hill to tons of restaurants.

- Martin (10/5): - loved the location.. After spending time in downtown Quepos and Downtown Manuel Antonio, I'm so glad we decided to stay in between those towns and not in them. And where this hotel is located its at the bottom of the big hill so to and from the ocean was easy compared other hotels up the big hill. The jungle and monkeys all around us and a 5 min walk to the ocean. The hotel does have a lot of steps especially if your on the 3rd floor so that might be something to consider when booking a room. Our favorite restaurant was the El Avion about a 3 min drive, Another neighboring hotel Kahari and the Jungle Beach hotel would be two I recommend based on location.
