Guest Reviews
- Rosalyn (8/5): - Great and friendly staff!
Bernard from the dining area was great!
Housekeepers was very helpful and friendly!
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not coming back - Very tiny room, we had the room at the end so near the rubbish which bring cockroach and other insects around or inside.
No hot or warm water. It’s not air conditioning it’s a ventilation. The bed is not confortable at all, even though I like firm mattress, I had to stretch in middle of the night. Then they don’t clean the room during your stay, so you go out once and all the dirt are in your room and water from the shower so it’s a mess right away.
They also don’t give you new towel during your stay so…
I guess if you alone and don’t mind about comfortable hotel room its fine, if not, maybe find something else.
The good thing is the location, it’s perfect.
That’s it I think.
- Troy (2/5): -
No one of this property can help you with anything you need. They don’t even have phone service. No Wi-Fi in the room a rooster in my bathtub. It sounds alike never stay here.
- Johannes (4/5): - Dirty room
Ants, moskitos, etc
No warm shower
No safe
Very small room
- Bob (6/5): - It was a budget Hotel but location was good
Was a lot of ants but it's the Philippines
- Sharon (8/5): - It was so close to the beach. The room was great for the price. It's walking distance to the main town for the tours. Hot and cold water was provided all day. Good wifi. The staff are friendly and helpful. I loved staying here.
The name of the property is confusing as it was hard to find as nobody knew what it was. It is actually owned by Eco Hotels. So it should be renamed so guests can find it quickly. They should also put more hooks and shelves in the room to help with storage.
- CJ (8/5): Great budget option, amazing sunsets. - After reading other reviews I was preparing myself for the worst but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The biggest problem was finding the hotel - it’s actually connected to the Eco Suites hotel, and the name Dormitels is nowhere to be seen. It’s also marked wrong on the map - follow Google maps and you’ll find it. I walked up and down the beach for 20 minutes with my stuff searching for the hotel.
Check in was fast and easy. My room was fine. The rooms are small, but comfortable. Double bed, Air conditioning and private bathroom. The water is not great but this is normal in this area of Palawan. You can shower and wash hands, however, need to use bottled water to brush teeth etc. there was only cold water in the shower, but for me that was fine as it was boiling hot anyway. The location is stunning. The beach is seconds from the room - and sunsets are insane here. I walked into El Nido town every morning to do the boat trips - it took about half an hour. Or 100 pesos for a tricycle. Loads of great food options right by the hotel too.
- Lorie (4/5): - A lot of mosquitos
- jean (6/5): - perception deb orde 2 H00 d'attente wc bouchee chambre propre coupure d'electricite une journee hotel bien place donnant sur une belle plage
- Tracy (6/5): Close to beach but construction site. - Pro's: clean but basic rooms, nice staff, reasonable breakfast available on site. Right next to Corong Corong beach and some nice restaurants. Reasonable rates.
Con's: massive construction works underway with site workers living behind the rooms and working at the front. Walls are very thin. Generally noisy.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good for the price - The room was simple yet adequate. We were allocated a room a while away from the actual hotel but it was ok. We accidentally booked a double fan room, but got an aircon room anyway which was nice. There is a lot of construction going on around the grounds, but El Nido is growing at a rapid rate so this is to be expected, it's certainly not the fault of the hotel or staff. The little coffee shop in the ally on the left going up to the main road has the best omelettes ever! All in all a good stay and staff were pleasant.
- Gemmariel (4/5): Dirty and stinky water! - The water has foul smell, it's filled with rusts! And the smell sticks to your skin and I hated it so much. I'll never recommend nor come back here! Check in at Novie's Tourist Inn instead you people, my family and I loved there.
- Regina (8/5): Value for money - A very basic hotel, therefore very affordable. Aircon worked well so did the tv. Staff was friendly and helpful. Close to Corong beach for nice sunset views. Reccommended for anyone on a budget who can live with cold showers and without wifi.
- Agustin (2/5): Do not recommend - Horrible place would not recommend everything is in horrible condition. It seems like they didn't clean the sheets from the previous people staying. The are plenty of other places around to stay at that are slightly more expensive but definitely worth the money. I booked 3 nights here but only stayed for half a night. They also ask for a 500 peso deposit for the key
- JC (6/5): Our experience - Hotel is good.. But the water is red due to the land. Cheap and clean.. just ride a tricycle if u want to go to the "city" around 50pesos
- Alice (4/5): Decent considering the price - Except for a serious horde of ants marching across our room and bed this place was as decent as you could expect for the price.
- David Barton (6/5): Great for the rate - It was everything it claimed to be. The rate was very inexpensive and the bed and bathroom were clean. That being said, it's not the hyatt. The electricity is often off during the day but on at night, the shower had no hot water and very little pressure, and the bathroom floor was large blocks placed on dirt so there are likely ant problems during some seasons. I needed a place to sleep before my 5 day island hopping tour and it was great for that. 50php for a ride into town was well worth the savings.
- trish (6/5): So near the beach but poor power supply - The water supply smells like metal and it's color yellow literally! I think the piping is damage and haven't change for so many years so bad :(
- Verified traveler (2/5): you will get what you pay... Not recommendable - I didn't feel safe in the area,,, not recommendable especially for teenagers..
- Marjorie (6/5): - Room very very small (bed taking all the room size, no place for luggages), air conditionner not working. But wi-fi working very well.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Close to very nice beaches - The comfort of the room is average, wifi and electricity sometimes did not work, but this all one can expect in El Nido. I was just little bit surprised that nobody was interested to clean my room during 5 days stay (not even to take out trash). Otherwise a nice place to stay when on budget.
- Jacqueline (6/5): - It was ok. Nothing fancy. Just enough for a 2 nights stay.
- Jennifer (2/5): La peor pesadilla.
- Verified traveler (6/5): weird man at the reception may put you off! - There is something seriously wrong with the man at the reception; he was the only Pilipino guy I met on my trip who was not kind, not nice and not helpful at all; in fact he told lies to my friends about being a manager, and did not allow them to stay in my room (which was already paid for) whilst I had this agreed with the actually manager the night before. He was present when it was discussed. The manager is really nice and helpful but you may not have a chance to get through to her because of him! Anyway good luck if you stay there! ;)
Otherwise, the place is clean and there is a beautiful beach walking distance from it; it is quite away from the town centre, where the whole party life takes place, so if you are looking for a quite place it is just right for you; could be a bit boring for solo travellers who look for companion.. that is why I moved to another hostel, was missing the happy crowds ;)))
- Claude (4/5): Very very small room. Bed invaded by ants - Simply don't worth it even though the staff is very friendly. The room is very, very small. My bed was invaded by ants. They fixed the problem quickly though. The tap water stinks and stained my cloths. For backpackers on a thight budget only.
- Asia traveller (8/5): A budget hotel...great for packers and it is safe - Had a very nice stay at Dormitels, it is a budget hotel with basic amenities but not disappointing. It is on the beach front and staff members are very friendly and willing to assist.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice location but don't expect much
- You get what you pay for with Dormitels- this is a budget accommodation. Rooms are teeny tiny- no room for our suitcases. Mattresses rather uncomfortable, floors are bare cement, and no decor at all in the rooms (blank walls). The water in the bathroom has an orange tint and the sink and shower faucets are do not allow for temperature adjustment. The power would go out from time to time, with 1 day out of 10 almost the entire day the power was out. Wifi is weak. When we first checked-in we had a view of the beach from our door but the next day they started building something on the property and the view was obscured with blue tarps =(. Probably the worst complaint we have is the neighbors roosters- they begin crowing about 5am and they ALL crow at the same time (perhaps 6+ roosters crowing at once). They will crow together for about an hour then slowly quiet down and by 9 am only a few intermittent roosters can be heard. The driveway to this hotel is also in bad condition and almost makes you wonder if you're going to the right place if it weren't for the sign. Low-key, low-cost, low expectations.
- Verified traveler (2/5): ATTENTION TRAVELLERS! YOU MUST READ THIS!!! - Where do i even start? Everything about this place is absolutely horendous! From the moment we arrived, we had to walk down this scary gravel road where there was construction happening on both sides and people were staring at us like they wanted to hunt us down and kill us! The front desk was outdoors, and the staff, absolutely useless. When we asked for towels, they never brought it to us. She gave us the keys to our room and yikes! It was literally the size of a walk in closet! It was just enough for the bed. The washroom, absolutely disgusting! The water from the tap, shower, and toilet was yellow! What?! The walls, peeling everywhere! We stayed in a fan room, but there was ac in there, which they switched off so it was just teasing us the whole time. When we nicely asked them to turn it on, they refused. Horrible customer service right there. The pics showed the hotel was beachfront, uh, no? They built another building in front blocking the way and to get to the beach you had to walk down a sketchy alley way. The water at the beach, grimey. And there's sea urchins and jellyfish so beware!!! Oh, and it says free wi-fi? What wi-fi?! You can't get any connection at all, either from the lobby area or in the room! I really can't say anything good about this place, coz there isnt! Honestly, stay away from this place at all cost! Pay the extra few dollars to stay somewhere else or you will regret it!
- tom (4/5): Very average - Frequent power cuts meaning air con cuts out, the room can get very hot very quickly. Small room, bathroom isn't great. Has satellite tv which was a bonus and great location 20m from beach but needs a tricycle costing P50 per trip into el nido.
- Emil (4/5): Aldrig igen!
- Gabriela (4/5): key deposit - The place was nice, however they asked me for 300 pesos for key deposit. And they didn't give me it back when I returned the key, moreover for the rush I forgot to ask for it.
- Cheyenne (8/5): Super! Aanrader!
- Verified traveler (2/5): Dissapointing - Very small rooms.. no place for luguage.. not nice restroom..
- Donvina (8/5): Good for 1-2 night stay - The hotel is very close to the airport. We arrived at night and managed to walk by foot from Terminal 1 to the hotel. Staff is friendly and helpful. In the morning they got us a taxi to go to terminal 4 (more far away).
- Khosai (6/5): I say about 5 out of 10 - It was ok
- Camille (8/5): Budget room outside E - Cons: Renamed to Dormitels.ph. Easy to miss from the main road as there was no sign yet. The access road is muddy for vehicles, and a gravel path for pedestrians. Ten minutes from town center by tricycle
Pros: Friendly staff. Breakfast isn't served, but they assisted is in setting up a table for coffee by the beach. We gained a new friend in Dykie the dog. The structure is new. The room is basic, just enough to fit the bed, restroom, and a few bags. T&B was small, no heater. No air-con, but the fan was sufficient to cool the room, with the sea breeze
