Guest Reviews
- Adrian (6/5): -
- simon (6/5): Need to fix the hot water situation. - Breakfast was good. The room was clean and tidy upon arrival. No hot water in the morning. Had to have a cold wash rather than a shower. Boiler clearly not working.
- David (2/5): Disappointing - The location was good because we were there for a golf trip and the golf course is almost next door We had dinner in the hotel one night which had been pre-ordered because there were 20 of us. Many of us ordered the "large" fish and chips (there was a small portion option) however almost every single one of them whilst looking large on the plate turned out to be about 80% batter and 20% fish. Many of our group complained of either no water in their showers, cold showers or pathetic water pressure.
- Steve (4/5): It did a job but wouldn't stay again. - Breakfast was good. Location In very dated state of repair. Light missing from bathroom mirror, aerial plug hanging off wall, rotten skirting around shower, dated decs
- Stuart (7/5): Silloth in May - Staff courteous but over stretched manning the front desk, bar and dining room on their own. Food was good, room clean and bed comfortable, didn't use the shower facilities. Building needs a face lift and a bit of love. But prefect location for playing golf at the silloth golf club. Ran out of beans for the breakfast!!

- Liz (2/5): Would not recommend this hotel too expensive for what you get! - Location is good for the golf course and it is quiet!
The room was clean. The room was cold and the heating did not work. When asked we were provided with a portable heater for the room.
The shower did not work very well and the plumbing is clearly old and made lots of weird noises when you flushed the toilet or turned on the tap.
The beds were okay hard, and covered in a plastic mattress cover that kept slipping off the bed if you moved!
Green tea was not served at breakfast and although gluten free toast was available they ran out on the second day!
The breakfast was okay on our first morning although reduces as items had to be taken off to make it gluten free.
The second day there was no gluten free toast, no green tea, the full English breakfast had uncooked hash browns still cold in the middle, congealed baked beans of which I had a teaspoon on my plate.
There was one member of staff who seemed to be receptionist, waitress you name it she was it!
However she was friendly but not really concerned, she didn’t offer me any other option when the toast had ran out for example!
Overall a bit like staying at Faulty Towers without the fun!
- David (7/5): Good location, decent value - Centre location, plenty of parking, good breakfast, friendly staff. Good sized rooms. No lift!
- Geraint (5/5): - Good front of house staff. Meal service. We ordered an evening meal in the restaurant but cancelled the order when it hadn't appeared after an hour and a half.
- Michael (5/5): Alright, poor food, slow service, clean, room ok. - Location Food not great. Breakfast bacon uncooked. Very slow service.
- Shearer (4/5): Disappointed in the lack of staff leading to delays - Breakfast was acceptable Lack of staff at all times
- Gainford (9/5): -
- Adam (3/5): Do not stay here!!! Over priced, dirty badly managed and very run down. - Location Mould in bedroom, leaking window with water literally running in from the lintel and dripping onto the window ledge. Paint flaking from the walls and stained carpets. See photos.
The kitchen industrial extractor fan was positioned directly outside the bedroom window so the window couldn’t be opened without the room being filled with the wonderful scent of deep fried fat. Request was made to change rooms but I was told every single room was taken in the hotel and it was not possible. Not very good planning for every single room to be occupied with no contingency for unforeseen circumstances.
I’d like to say at least the breakfast was good, but I didn’t get chance. After waiting 45mins from ordering, i overheard the staff asking if they had started to cook the breakfasts yet, i was unable to wait any longer and had to leave.
- colin (7/5): - Staff were very pleasant. Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice. Room looked fresh and recently redecorated. Nice bathroom with large shower and roll-top bath. Sadly, there was no hot water due to a malfunctioning boiler! We were booked for 2 nights but left after 1. No reduction in the rate was offered.
- Martyn (4/5): It done the job without being able to have a wash! - Bed was comfortable and breakfast was nice No hot water and zero power in the shower or any taps on the top floor. Not great for a “golf hotel” when you want to get showered after a rude. Staff very rude, speak to you as though they are having a bad day!
- Gary (3/5): -
- unsworth (8/5): - Lovely and clean, though a little tired in places. Staff were very helpful and attentive. Plumbing noises were a bit excessive. TV very difficult to operate
- peter (7/5): Nice staff - Location
- Joe (5/5): Great location. Poor facilities and cold room with no hot water - Breakfast was good. Was a large bay window over looking the front which was nice. The temperature of the water both day and night was very cold. Too cold to get a bath or shower.
It’s called the golf hotel however didn’t have the masters on when it was on TV. They had the chase on instead.
- Carrol (8/5): -
- Tim (5/5): -
- Andrew (1/5): Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in - Location for golf course Room was awful. No water for shower, trickle of cold water. Toilet seat broken. Electric heater leg broken. Velux blind broken, and didn’t close. Wind blowing vertical blinds in bathroom, obviously draughty window. TV at floor level. Sloped ceiling joist meant I had to duck to walk past, and I’m only 5 foot 8.
- Richard (8/5): Great hotel to stay to visit silloth - Grand old hotel ,
Room was good , clean and tidy,
Breakfast had a great selection,
Plus lunch and dinner options
Cycle storage on site another plus

- Anthony (9/5): -
- ALEX (8/5): - Central location in Silloth, comfy bed, good breakfast A little dated, shower ran cold randomly after about five minutes but recovered after some fiddling.
- Patrick (10/5): Welcoming, comfortable, excellent hotel. - Breakfast was excellent. Plentiful and great choice. Nothing.
- Clare (8/5): -
- Gareth (7/5): good - location could do with a bigger TV in the room, it was only 12 INCH
- Christine (9/5): Very comfortable. Friendly staff. Good breakfast and evening meal. - This was my fifth stay at the Golf Hotel and as always the staff were very friendly and helpful.
The food is always excellent.
My room was very comfortable and warm with an extra heater provided should it be required.
- Tanya Marie (10/5): Relaxing, comfortable stay, and well looked after, and excellent food - Food was great l had an evening meal, food was excellent, l also had breakfast included with my room, also very well catered, and the cooked food and great, fresh coffee too.
I was well looked after by staff and they accomodated me, with my mobility problems was given a room with fewer stairs.
Lady on the desk was very polite and made my stay so pleasant.
- Clare (8/5): -
- Helen (2/5): - The staff was very friendly and helpful. We arrived and there was no heating in the rooms as the gas had to be turned off no hot water in the taps, not able to have a hot sit down meal and the electric heater that was provided had a broken leg for 105 pound a night it wasn't acceptable we should have been contacted that morning and told of the situation 😡
- Alison (8/5): A hidden gem comfortable, friendly and relaxing - Breakfast was super
- Chris Wyatt (10/5): - Breakfast was delicious Only stayed one night
- Jo (3/5): Slim pickings in silloth for a stay and sadly was poor, wouldn’t stay again and it’s a shame as it could be so much more - The outside looks beautiful and promising. The staff were accommodating with changes we needed Dirty sheets in first room, they kindly let us move rooms, bad smells in the whole building, every floor had a slightly different but bad smell. Breakfast was covered in syrup, ordered bacon and eggs, bacon was smothered in syrup. Daughter had pancakes and Nutella but they covered them in syrup too so was way to sweet she couldn’t eat them. Hotel rooms were freezing and was told they can’t afford to have the heat on all the time, the heat comes on a timer but not long enough to take the chill off, water pressure was awful and went off mid shower while I was covered in soap!
We definitely were appreciative of the room move from the top floor to the 1st but overall one of the worst stays I’ve ever had in a hotel. Staff we spoke to were lovely but they are up against it as the hotel is poor
- Jim (8/5): Relaxing - The staff could not do enough for you. The food was varied and well presented and very tasty.
The room was clean and had everything required. For the price paid, nothing could be improved.
- Julie (10/5): - Very friendly and helpful. I struggled with the stairs
- Michael (8/5): -
- Peter (6/5): - Good breakfast Nothing
- Anne (8/5): -
- Caroline (5/5): - Central location. Unfriendly front of house staff. Breakfast was dissappointing.
- Richard (9/5): -
- Caroline (8/5): - Good location plenty of on street parking Lovely old hotel bit dated now but good big room
- Richard (4/5): Would not return - The breakfast was very poor plates were cold infact the breakfast was not very hot cereal and juices were as normal On arrival the staff were not very welcoming no offers of help with luggage my husband has mobility problems so a little help would have been appreciated
- Nikki (9/5): -
- Christine (8/5): -
- Steve (7/5): - £45 absolute bargain inc breakfast.
- Guest (8/5): Silloth with a smile - Breakfast was super, good variety of cereals, fruit juice, cooked breakfast lovely with coffee and toast. Nothing, I was just surprised it was so quiet
- Guest (9/5): Lovely hotel - Breakfast was super plenty of variety , cereals, fruit, cooked breakfast, toast and tea or coffee Tables being left with dirty plates on them for the duration of having breakfast, not a good look and not that busy not to be able to clear tables. That only happened on one occasion but to be honest not a nice thing to walk into a breakfast room and see
- Christine (8/5): Very good. - This was my second stay at this hotel and as previously the staff were really pleasant and helpful
The breakfast was really good.
I ate in the restaurant again the food was good.
An added bonus was an extra heater was in the room if needed as the weather was so cold.
Over all very pleasant stay. Nothing
- Chris (6/5): Lovely setting overlooking the green - The bedroom was atractively furnished and comfortable. The bed was particularly comfortable. The view from the large bedroom window was lovely. The hot drink facilities were great and the room was qarm despite the sudden cold snap. The bathroom was very tired looking. The shower was cramped with poor pressure and the hot water was warm at best. The bathroom itself was freezing cold.
- Mrs Pam (8/5): - Nice big bed very clean great bathroom. The breakfast was excellent. The carpets in the general?areas where very old could do with updating.bedroom carpet was ok. Fine for us for one night To high up for us 3rd floor. Carpets in the general area
Old and a bit dirty looking
- rutter (1/5): Dreadful room food great - Breakfast great location great Cleanliness room was filthy tv dint work no hairdryer had to go buy one dust everywhere black mould on windows very bad housekeeping
- Amy (9/5): - Clean, comfortable, massive bed! Loved the tea and coffee station with biscuits. Staff helpful and friendly
- Michael (8/5): -
- Oliver (3/5): Golf Amazing - Hotel Woeful - That it was close to the Golf Course - nothing else. This place is woeful. Only one member of staff visable at a time and they were not welcoming or friendly. The same member of staff checked us in, served us drinks, served us food. Room not cleaned once during 3 night stay, shower barely worked, bed was one of the most uncomfortable I have ever slept in.
- Melinda (7/5): Good location - Last minute booking, location was nice, close to the beach. Room was good size equipped with everything you need. Lovely breakfast! Wasn’t spotless:-( some squeaky noise was coming from the ceiling or walls.
- Albis (7/5): Ok but very dated rooms and could do with more staff. - The hotel is in the centre and close to all amenities. The staff are very helpful but have to multi task and look very busy. Rooms are very dated but very tidy and comfortable.
- Andrew (7/5): -
- JOHN (7/5): -
- livesey (8/5): Good all round. - Close to the centre and golf club. Comfy bed
- Warwick (9/5): -
- Len (10/5): Room was spacious, very clean, facilities immaculate! - Breakfast was lovely!
- David (5/5): Was very much like Faulty Towers - One of the servers for breakfast was really nice and pleasent and had a play with my daughters slime kit was really nice to see a softside as she looked ever so serious I did not like my room up in the attic it felt cold and damp and killed me walking upto it as i have rheumatoid arthritis and it killed my knees
- Geoff (10/5): -
- Christine (10/5): Very enjoyable. - Evening meal, breakfast and room all great. Nothing
- Adrian (1/5): -
- Michael (6/5): Location, location, location - The location, and in fairness there have been a number of improvements since I stayed about four years ago I could list a number of things but it wouldn’t help anyone. If you arrive in Silloth you are there for one reason to play golf. Go to The Bank restaurant, which is terrific and matches the links. It is fabulous place to play and eat - and an ok place to sleep.
- JENNIFER (5/5): - Lovely breakfast, friendly staff A small lounge area instead of bar would have made a difference to our stay
- David (8/5): Very good. - Great location breakfast was good. Everything was fine would book again.
- Claire (8/5): -
- White (10/5): Silloth Scooter and Soul Weekend - Nice spacious room. Very comfortable. Nice Breakfast. There was nothing I didn't like 👍🏻
- Dawn3511 (10/5): -
- Walters (8/5): Would stay again if had the chance - Food was excellent. nothing to not like
- Chris (6/5): Needs a freshen up - Excellent breakfast Shower didn’t work, rooms need refurbing
- rory (7/5): -
- Mark (9/5): Enjoyable and exceeded expectations - Food and hospitality faultless Rooms dated but served a purpose
- Daniel (8/5): - Great location in town, friendly staff and good value
- Ken (7/5): Value for money - Drinks and food were good.
Room and bed clean and comfortable bathroom was immaculate but didn't have any grab rails to aid entry/exit to the bath shower was good tho. There was no disabled room but they give us a room on 1st floor.
The hotel looks tired and needs a lock of paint.
- Michael (10/5): -
- Pickering (7/5): Facilities were fair cleaning could be better stairs well ok - Location was good my home town Quite and I needed the location
- Beswick (3/5): - The food was good. But after getting moved to a third room because of unclean room's, it was not good, had to settle for the 3rd room, unfortunately, breakfast was definitely made the night before and there was obviously an unfortunate incident in the breakfast room as there was a set of step ladders at the ready to paint the ceiling because it was splattered with blood,
- Kate (7/5): - Breakfast was good plenty of selections on the menu.
Great location for the golf course which was the purpose of our visit Bathroom bin hadn't been emptied from previous guests.
Electric shower was very temperamental
- Lars (8/5): -
- dane (1/5): Don't - Nothing Dated hotel, smells of grease. Possibly a migrant hotel as well
- John (10/5): - The room was clean bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was excellent 👌 thank you 😊 Nothing to complain about
- Kelly (6/5): - Breakfast was excellent The service for breakfast, it took almost an hour to arrive
- lucinda (1/5): Short Break ruined at Hotel caused by disagreeable Unhelpfull Receptionist . - The food and convenient location
The beer was nice.
Some of the staff were pleasant The Traffic Police on the Reception Desk seemed more worried about casual visitors ,complaining about on street parking to the hotel, than people staying there.
FREE PARKING to me means the Hotel has its own Car Park, not ON STREET PARKING which is all this Hotel has!
The Hotel was more run down than the price point would indicate .
- Gary (8/5): Short but sweet - Location superb for the golf course Bed very creaky
- ANDREW (7/5): -
- Shaw (8/5): - Breakfast was excellent and the staff were lovely. We would go back 👍😊.
- Gary (8/5): Decent - Perfect for golf at Silloth Bed
- Jon (4/5): Poor - Location to golf My room - 22 was very small. Shower doesn't work properly
- Carl (5/5): - It was great for the golf Dreadful mattresses
- Carol (6/5): We enjoyed our short break - Large bed, very clean . Nice breakfast . Large bedroom Carpet in entrance way of hotel really needed renewing but other carpets looked new so maybe they are in process of upgrading
- Sharon (8/5): Satisfied visitors. - Really nice breakfast, staff were very friendly, efficient and helpful. Nice location and feel of the hotel was classic. Always a hard one, but no lift. Decor could do with a freshen up.
- Edward (4/5): This is very basic accommodation with massive room for improvement on many fronts (see above) - Low level accommodation in many respects
Room was smelly
No lifts
Poor breakfast
Bar prices too high
Getting a drink past 10.30 a privilige
Corridors dark See above
- Rozario (8/5): - Faboulus place to stay with family, good English breakfast, rooms are spacious and clean. 😊🫶 Staircase not very clean and poor tv signals!😊
