- Kirsteen (3/5): So disappointing. - I stayed in "Cario" and the decor was cute and quirky as on the website. Staff were polite, but no one once asked if everything was okay. I would normally tell a host rather than write a poor review but as no one seemed interested I feel I should let others know... The room was boiling! And this was in a cold May. I switched off the radiator and the towel rail wasn't on but it stayed like a sauna the whole time and I couldn't find a way to open the window. And that brings me to the location: Wouldn't really have wanted the window open as such a busy road and noisy all night because of it. Then there was the fact that there was no breakfast available. The website says there is. They even emailed shortly before the trip to say I could order breakfast the night before. And there was a menu in the room. Nope. Kitchen not working. Oh and the tray the tea and coffee was on was sticky. And no ordinary tea, just herbal. I wouldn't go back and wouldn't recommend it..
- Alex (10/5): Cosy, quirky rooms with a superb breakfast for the adventurous appetite! - The room was a lot of fun. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful. But the breakfast was the star of the show. Do not miss it! And I highly recommend choosing something adventurous from the menu that isn't the standard English breakfast, although that did look good too! Very handy parking around the back of the hotel. Location was right by the centre of the city without being noisy or busy. There was nothing I didn't like.

Just gave us the key and said the room name which I already knew. Great room and very clean which made up for it. The welcome from the host, maybe because it was because he was on the phone but not very helpful.

- Stephan (9/5): Themed guest house at city center with private paid parking - The house has city-themed rooms, we had New York. The style matched the city nicely and the room was clean and comfortable. The towels were phenomenal! Parking the car in the private premises was not charged at a fair rate and was without problems. The location is within walking distance of Nottingham center, which was very convenient for a nice walk through the city. We cannot comment on breakfast, as we had dinner the evening before and did not feel like a big breakfast the next morning.

I had heavy luggage and was a bit worried as there’s no elevator, but they kindly helped me carry it upstairs. Each room has its own unique concept — I don’t think I’ve ever stayed at a place where just entering the room was this much fun! I’d love to try a different one next time. Nothing in particular.

If I hadn’t of already pre paid then I would have left due to the way that she spoke to me. I’ve not paid to be spoken to in a disrespectful manner and to be made uncomfortable. Also the shower in my room only had half of its doors and there wasn’t an option to add any cold water, so it was piping hot.

Despite being so close to the main road it was very quiet. Staff were lovely, food excellent. Would definitely return again. The shower pressure isn’t great. And whilst I appreciate they were fully booked New York (the room we were in) had two single beds pushed together (not especially uncomfortable) but it would have been made much better by a double or king sized duvet, not two singles.

The room got very cold at night. I had to ask for my daughter's bed to be made up as we were told by the member of staff they didn't think it was used by the previous guests

- kalinika (7/5): - A lot of room, comfy bed and good location The host was rude when I called to ask if there was parking. He came across very aggressive. We overheard him speaking to grown adults and he sounded much nicer to them than to us. (We are a group of 19 year olds)
- Emma (1/5): Horrible experience run by unpleasant people. - Absolutely nothing! This is possibly the worst hotel we have ever stayed in! The staff were so rude and scruffy looking. We got shouted at for coming in at 11pm for talking and laughing as people were sleeping! This was 11pm on a Saturday night! The way we were spoken to was disgraceful. I have no idea how this place has stayed open - the customer service is non existent! The rooms were themed and absolutely awful, so tacky! There was also an unpleasant smell and the sheets and towels were dirty and smelly! For £120 a night I didn’t expect luxury but at least a clean and comfortable room. The whole place was smelly and dirty, there were rubbish bags left around and because the staff were so rude there was a horrible atmosphere. We left at 7:30am as couldn’t stand to be there any longer.

Property didn’t answer my email or message on booking.com, room was cold with a window that let in a draught all night, shower was a dribble and didn’t drain which meant you had to stop half way through the shower otherwise the tray would over flow, mattress wasn’t comfort.

- Simonetta (7/5): Lovely quirky guest house - Fantastic hosts, lovely room (Casablanca), great location, shops, takeaways etc. Shower was amazingly hot. Breakfast was outstanding! We both had the Croquet Monsieur each. I loved everything about the Casablanca room, but the circus/tent style covering on the wardrobe wasn’t there and the trim on the sofa bed wasn’t there either, which kind of detracted something from the feel of the room overall. I wanted to take pictures of the bar before I left, as it looked amazing. But the door was locked. I asked if I could just quickly take some photos and she said it was empty and not worth seeing. But I had passed it coming in the night before and it looked fabulous. So I was disappointed about that. Being disabled. It takes a lot out of me and I was going to an event the night I arrived, so I hadn’t got time to visit the bar beforehand. My fault I know, but it looked like we were the only guests. And we had such a good chat beforehand I thought that she might accommodate me.

- Denys (9/5): A charming and comfortable stay in a beautifully themed room, with lovely hosts and a great location - Great location and a very clean, spacious room. I really appreciated the amount of storage — plenty of wardrobe and drawer space, unlike many places where you end up keeping things on the floor. The room had everything you could possibly need: an iron and ironing board, a fan, a hairdryer, a kettle, a mini-fridge, cups, glasses, spoons, and enough towels for everyone. The themed rooms are a brilliant idea — ours was the London room, and it was beautifully decorated. The bathroom was spacious too, with both a shower and a bathtub, and everything was spotless. The hosts were absolutely lovely — it’s clearly a family-run place, and you can feel the care and attention they put into it. We didn’t get to try the breakfast, as one of my sons isn’t keen on hotel breakfasts (he's autistic), which I’m sure was our loss. The only thing that could be improved would be adding a curtain to the bathtub and making the shower screen non-transparent. When there’s just one bathroom to share, that would make things a bit more convenient
- Janet (8/5): Quirky Hotel - Unique - Comfortable and Good Location - Good Location - very quirky hotel - room was very funky - as described - very cosy and well equipped - unique I think would describe it - we did not get much time in the hotel as we were unable to check in when we arrived and therefore went into Nottingham and only returned to go to bed We were greeted by a gentleman who I assume was the owner and whilst we were there at 2 he said we were not in a position to check in until 3 - which was ok however the hotel was quiet so this seemed absurd - also at this time he wanted to know if we wanted breakfast the following day! When we returned in the evening we were greeted within someone on reception and did not get to see very much of the hotel

We didn't have breakfast but the choice of options looked amazing. Could have been more generous with the coffee and sugar allocation and no tea spoon.

- Richard (10/5): - This place was such a good find! We were have a weekend away with friends, stayed here for 3 nights and LOVED it. The owners were lovely, welcoming and helpful. Our room was cleaned while we were there. The location is great for Nottingham city centre. Strongly recommend.

On one of the chairs in the room the back was completely broken. For the money I paid for that room i would have stayed in a sauna and been more comfortable Tokyo room absolutely terrible.

- Wendy (2/5): - The most unfriendly and unwelcome hosts you can imagine. We were made to feel an inconvenience rather than welcomed. Cobwebs on the legs of the bedside table, a large long black hair by the pillow and in the bathroom, as well as a filthy pillow and dirt on the floor next to the side of the bed. We were not told that we had to preorder breakfast in fact we never actually got any check in information just a key handed to us. When we arrived at breakfast we were told in front of the other guests that is was not possible as we hadn’t preordered and they were a small establishment - who knows what they would done if we had preordered as it was full!! No offers of a continental or partial breakfast that could be eaten in our suite, nothing. So we said we would leave and not to bother, we went straight up to get our things and before we could even vacate the room the owner entered the room without knocking to start the change over process. Both owners were the rudest most inhospitable hosts I’ve come across in all my extensive travels! Avoid. Definitely not worth the money. I wish I had read the “tips” section on one of the other sites that mentioned several times how rude and unfriendly the owners are - I would never have booked!

- Yana (8/5): - The property is very clean. Lovely in fact. Bed was comfortable. The room was facing the road so it was noisier than I would have liked, still not that bad. Owners are not bad people, but I didn’t feel there was a personal service there. I came in with a lot of small items in my hands, I wasn’t helped or even shown to my room. This is a B&B, so you’d expect at least ask if I needed help. I was also quizzed why I didn’t book directly through website - a bit too much for my liking - so much so I fell into explaining how this was a last minute trip. The other disappointment is the parking. I was first told I cannot park for the following day - fine - I did ask however if possible. The owner told me to drop my stuff and that it will probably be a couple of quid. I came back and for half a day said it’ll be a full days charge. No explanation. Not even an alternative. I paid. I am new to the city, didn’t know. Finally, the check out. On the way out there was no warmth or desire to find out how the stay was, if everything was okay. I dropped my stuff in the car and came back to address some of the issues and at least ask about the parking but when I attempted, as i handed the key back, the owner said “okay. Bye!”. Cannot stress how important is building relationships with your customers as a small business. The small things make a difference. Yes, I do support small businesses but there are different ways to handle things and for me, this was an awkward stay.

- A (8/5): Character guest house - Great looking room. Bed comfortable. Only negative was a broken shower that only delivered scolding hot water - which you discover once your in the shower. Obvioudly no opportunity to fix as only there one night and tried to shower in the morning If you want a parki g space ring them needs to be booked and costs £10. I messaged my requirement, but recieved no response, so assumed that parking would be ok, as with other properties.

I hadn't ordered dinner, so can't comment but would expect it to be good. If you have a 25kg golf bag, don't make the mistake I made of booking a 2nd floor room!

On a busy road, aware of the traffic noise as I chose to have the window open at night. But was everything we needed, and gave us a great stay.
