• Rui Humberto (10/5): Muito boa, quarto super confortável, ambiente familiar, boas pessoas. - Enganei-me na minha marcação, tinha marcada para a noite anterior, à minha chegada ao Hotel, deparei-me com esta situação. De uma forma muito tranquila, esta situação foi ultrapassada pelas vossas funcionárias, Obrigado. Pequeno almoço, muito bom, tinham terminado os ovos mexidos, perguntei se iam colocar mais, o que me responderam que sim. Qual foi a minha surpresa, uma senhora veio-me servir os ovos mexidos à mesa!!!! Muito obrigado por esta minha estadia junto de vós, um hotel a recomendar e a repetir sempre que tiver de voltar à Figueira da Foz. Tudo Excelente.

• David (9/5): Wonderfully helpful staff and lovely surroundings. - The staff were really helpful and went to great lengths to make our stay as good as it could be. Parking was difficult, because of the location of the hotel, presumably in the old quarter.

• Nancy (10/5): A Beautiful Hotel for a lovely stay at the Beach! - The location was perfect! We were 1 block from the beach and could see it from our window when you looked out the side! The room was a nice size for 2 with a very comfortable bed and the bathroom was great too! The staff was very helpful with suggestions on places to eat and to see! The hotel is Beautiful! our room was in the far corner of the hotel and so the wifi didn't reach us very well. We were able to use it in the lobby.

• Rosalie (8/5): Sfeervol hotel vlak naast het strand - Het hotel heeft een prachtige locatie vlak naast het strand. De kamers zijn schoon en verzorgd en het personeel is ontzettend behulpzaam en vriendelijk. Wij waren veelste vroeg voor het inchecken (13.00) maar onze kamer werd direct gereed gemaakt. Super! Bekijk goed wanneer je boekt! Wij hadden geboekt voor de derde week van oktober maar dan is het plaatsje volledig uitgestorven. Hier kan het hotel uiteraard niets aan doen maar het is wel iets om in je achterhoofd te houden.

• Nancy (1/5): We checked out after 10 minutes of being there! - DO NOT STAY HERE!!! There was nothing that we liked about this property and we moved out within 10 minutes of walking in!! As we walked into the graffitied door, the front entrance was all broken tiles that you had to carefully walk across to get into the stairwell, which had no lighting. There was a pathway to the garbage area, which was no door keep people out, and the stairs were dangerous!! And garbage strewn all the way up the stairs. The room was still being cleaned when we walked in an hour after check-in… The pictures are staged, and the place did not look like the pictures. It’s a very old apartment building that they are trying to convert into a new looking place but it’s not finished yet and very dangerous to get in.

• Trevor (9/5): Good location, comfortable and central, overall great, but breakfast needs improving a little. We would return. - The lovely roof top room, location, bedroom and parking. The cooked breakfast was only warm at the start of breakfast, 7.30 and some mornings the scrambled eggs were cold, the sausages were cold and some bread wasn’t available.

• Alicia (9/5): Fig for 2 Days - We liked the location, that our room had a balcony and sea view. We also liked the size of our room.and the bed was very comfy. The staff were very kind. Always available if needed. Would definitely recommend. Only negative we could think of was we were a little concerned about the toilet. It had a little bit of wiggle room when you sat down. Maybe just needs a little maintenance..
• Filipelteixeira (5/5): Passable because we just went for the festival, otherwise wouldn't have enjoyed. - Very friendly staff and nice location. The decor is passable altough very clogged. Room cabinet and dressers had humidity problems (which turned into a bad smell). The bed and pillows were not very confortable. The bright red color of the room walls always gave me a feeling I had sunburns all over. Mini fridge wasn't working (wasn't cooling). The isolation was not great, and I dont particularly enjoy a room that has a connection door with a simple indoor lock to the next room. Charging for the only bottled water on the room was a trigger for me when you pay +200e per night.

• Susan (9/5): Lovely hotel close to the sea - Lovely room with balcony and very close to sea. Staff were lovely and it was a very enjoyable stay. Had a few problems with the sloping roof but it was worth it for the view. Cooked breakfast was same each day and not exceptional. Large variet of cold breakfast but meats and cheese same every day. Was a little disappointed that for the cost of the room free water was only available on first day and then we had to pay €2.50. Ladies would also appreciate a few tissues as us normal in boutique hotels

• Stefan (7/5): Short stay to see the beach - We’re in off season and could easily park our car at street. In summer it will be hectic I guess. We took the room with balcony at top floor but all walls were not straight and we have at least 2-3 times hit our head at one of the walls maybe after one day you’re used to it but we had only one day. ;) better take some other rooms if not at summer. Hotel was perfect.

• Randall (6/5): - Nice place. Clean spacious rooms. Ours had a balcony, which was nice. Only problem was at checkout. The front desk said we needed to pay, even though we pre-paid through Expedia. I refused, which caused a small kerfuffle. I opened the expedia app and chatted with a live agent... who called the hotel directly. Seems like the arrangement between the hotel and Expedia was not workin. Expedia refunded the hotel, then i paid the hotel directly.

• Chris (10/5): - Great location and a beautiful boutique hotel. A couple of small items like the shower diverter fell off, but the staff were very nice to deal with. They have a beautiful lounge area where we were able to sit with friends and drink our own wine even though they had a bar to sell their own. Fabulous atmosphere!

Super friendly staff, lobby / lounge and rest of common areas were beautifully decorated and comfortable. Rooms were clean and comfortable with all modern amenities

• Laura (9/5): Stylish stay in a lovely resort - The location and staff are excellent. Secure bike parking. Stylish hotel. Lovely atmosphere Huge room and bathroom. Excellent value. The breakfast was uninspiring. A long time since I have seen tinned fruit! There was some fresh too. Only hotel in our stay without fresh pastries. Sensible to have tissues in a hotel room.

Booked 3 double rooms and one room had to be changed due to problem with bath and shower, in another of our rooms we had to get the shower fixed as it did not work at all then the third room was made up as a twin and not a double. A disappointing experience. The hotel rooms need checking in general as we all had at least one problem in our rooms.
• Katrina (9/5): A lovely stay at the Universal Boutique hotel. - Hotel was lovely, staff very friendly & helpful. The hotel was well located to walk around the town and well situated to walk to the beautiful beach. The room was clean & comfortable- the lounge area & glass floor looking down to the breakfast room gave it the ‘boutique’ vibe. Breakfast was basic but adequate. We experienced a minor problem with the car parking facility - a space was allocated to us however someone else was parking there so we had a bit of wasted time trying to sort that out with reception. It wasn’t the hotels fault that people can’t follow basic instructions as to which parking bay to use… but again staff were apologetic & helpful.

• Paul (4/5): Too many choices to treat customers poorly. - Overall a nice hotel but I was bike-packing and they didn’t want to let me keep my bicycle in my room. It’s a very expensive bike that would be difficult to replace during a trip if something were to happen. Additionally my on bike baggage is difficult to remove. I insisted I’d be keeping it in my room and they relented but not without the desk clerk acting put out by the request.

The two ladies in reception were lovely - showing much patience and humour with my attempted Portugese. Bike was stored safely. Breakfast was great. • Ian (3/5): OK hotel rude service - Staff were unfriendly, we booked thru booking.com 2 single beds, they gave us a double. When we asked they argued that we got what we requested and refused to change or consider change. Its clearly an issue between the website and hotel, which for a last minute booking I accept can happen. But in a service industry there can be no room for rudeness or failure to be helpful. I will not be using this hotel or chain again.

• Sarah (9/5): A nice break from the routine - We loved the size of the room and the balcony was a nice added touch. Their lounge downstairs was very cosy and a nice place to work from. Very well located with good options for food/drink. Paying for coffee/tea usage in the room was strange considering it’s a “boutique” hotel. It also would have been nice to have a proper espresso machine in the lobby bar instead of the push button instant one. It was still a lovely stay overall.
• Peter (9/5): Lovely, quaint. Would go again. - Breakfast not included, but plenty of places to eat within a few hundred yards. Staff very helpful, and although there is very little parking space in the vicinity, they were able to show me where I could leave my motorcycle safely and legally. The room was on the top floor and was spacious and comfortable. An old fashioned seaside resort with a huge beach and lots of places to while away the time. Make sure you read the notice in reception as it gives details about free welcome drink and discounts at some restaurants. I read it as we were leaving!!

• David (3/5): Avoid room 401 - The toilet didn't flush. You had to hit the lever hard several times to get the toilet to flush. Reception thought this was an acceptable solution! The room we saw on the website, a deluxe twin with balcony was roomy and had a sofa in it and a coffee machine and a kettle. Our room was tiny, had no sofa. It had a slanting roof and you hit your head on it when you walked past the end of the rather hard bed. The pods for the coffee machine were a £1 each from reception.
