- Brittany (4/5): - The photos are the highlight of this property. When we arrived, we were stunned at the condition of the property. There is water damage all throughout the property, including the rooms. The property was not well lit at all and difficult to find, add that to the fact that when we walked in there was pretty much nobody around. They said that the morning continental breakfast would be ready at 7 AM. We were downstairs by 7:15 and everything was still completely shut down with lights off. This was what in my family we call “and experience“

- Brett (4/5): - It was tough to get past the smell of the elevator and the room. Our comforter had a big hole in it although appeared to be clean. There were many things that were in poor condition and could be replaced including the hair dryer, tiles missing in shower etc. The town seems to be struggling bff a bit and several of the food establishments closing or reducing their services. Would be better off staying in one of the bigger towns nearby.

Those who want spotless and sterile hotel rooms will find it less than ideal, because this place is an authentic step back in time -- original wood floors, antique chifferobes, etc. The 25 rooms are each uniquel, and the Inn itself gives the air that you have stepped back as in the movie "Somewhere in Time." My traveling companion and I found it delightful.

- Kyleigh (6/5): - When we walked into our room, there was a dead cockroach on the floor beside our bed. The A/C unit hadn’t been turned on yet either so it was super hot, however he made us aware of this when we arrived and we just turned it on once we got to our room. The bathroom didn’t look super clean, but was clean enough. On the other hand, the beds were super comfortable and the A/C unit cooled the room down pretty quickly to make it comfortable. Overall, probably wouldn’t stay here again unless we absolutely had to.

- gregdawnal (10/5): Lovely Historic gem - If you enjoy historic buildings, you will thoroughly enjoy staying at this hotel. Built in 1903. This little hotel has a lot of charm. It is right in the center of downtown Abbeville. We only got to stay one night as we were passing through, but we will definitely be back for a longer stay. Each of the rooms are completely different and unlike what the other reviewer commented we had plenty of air-conditioning. Our room was 64° when we got there. The Innkeeper was delightful and graciously allowed us to arrive at 11:30 PM and was waiting for us. All of the decor are antiques!

- Helen (8/5): Very good value - Very clean and close to the Opera house where we saw a show. Was disappointed that the bar/restaurant was closed.
- F (5/5): Passable - Friendly staff, interesting old hotel. It could be a very cool place with just a little bit of cleaning, love and care. It was dirty, shabby. Fire hazard looking electrical cords everywhere. I did not see the restaurant nor the bar ever open during my stay. On the day I was checking out the staff said the hotel was shutting down and they all lost their jobs.
- Jim (9/5): Perfect place to stay if you're coming in to see a show at the opera house! - Very friendly staff, the restaurant and bar area were fantastic. Lots of free parking. Historic hotel. Porch was very cool, even though it was a little cold, they did have a fireplace. Could upgrade the mattresses a little. Bathroom door handles were very loose (Although exterior door and locks were very secure).

- Inspire160241 (2/5): No heat…. Pack a heater - We stayed at the Belmont Inn over Thanksgiving. The room was very cold and the temperature was only 64 degrees. When we called to ask that the temperature be fixed, they only left a blanket on the bed. I have called customer service with no resolution. I asked to be reimbursed and the Belmont Inn refused to refund, if you stay at the Belmont Inn you are best to pack a heater.

- Jessie (10/5): One of my favorite hotels!! - The new owners, along with the rest of the staff are amazing. Very kind and accommodating! This was my third time here and still love it. The interior and exterior is beautiful and historic. The hotel and staff are wonderful. No complaints. They do an outstanding job!
- Roger (4/5): - So, I want to give the management a little bit of grace. The current state that the Belmont is in, is the worst I've ever seen it. However, I've come to know that the ownership has changed. They were very kind and I hope they can turn this place around. We last stayed here about 8-9 years ago and since then, I've seen major degradation. The room was stayed in had loads wrong with it. The heater was small but finally heated the room after a few hours. The bathroom had mold, the sink was clogged, and the toilet seat was run down from wear. The paint on the ceiling and walls needed a new coat but you can see there has been some ceiling repairs. Fire code wise, I don't think you can have the power strips like they had it. The furniture needs replacement or restoration badly. It's cool to be in such a historic place with vintage furniture, but they need to be repaired. It was nice to have the bar downstairs. They have continental breakfast but that could be improved. We were in room #5 so I would avoid that room until you're told it's been completely renovated it. I don't mean to be negative but it was pretty bad. We stayed anyways because we felt we could bare it because it was only for our night stays as we visited with family. Elevator DID work, needs some renovation too. Overall, I hope they can turn this around... I would give it a 4/10. Not a ton of options in Abbeville anyways.
- Jeffrey Ryan (10/5): - I stayed there to keep from having to travel along distance after playing the organ at two churches in the area for services. It was everything I needed. The customer service could not have been any better. They were very nice and met all of my needs. I plan to stay there again for longer so that I can enjoy some of the other amenities that they have.
- Ana (8/5): - This historical property has lots of potential to become something excellent, it does have a ways to go. Our room was very spacious, and it was nice. The Grill had limited dinner choices, luckily my husband and I we happy with what they offered which turned out to be a great dinner for us. I would stay here again.

- Timothy (2/5): Convenient Location but... - I am handicapped and my wife and I are in our 70s. There was no handicapped parking. so we had to walk from the parking lot next door up the stairs between in the rain. The small room was on the 3rd floor (they called it the 2nd, with check-in being the ground floor) The elevator was working when we checked in but in the morning it wasn't and we had to walk down two flights of very steep stairs, bringing our luggage clinging to the banister the whole way. There was only one chair in the room, an armchair in the corner useless for much of anything. Light came from a table lamp and a floor lamp with 40 watt bulbs. There was no desk area and no clock. There was a pod type coffee maker but no pods, creamer or sugar and only one paper coffee cup with only one plastic glass in the bathroom. The 32 inch TV sat about two feet from the end of the bed. There was no counter space in the bathroom and the "refrigerator" was nothing but a small commercial drink cooler with a dirty top. Any problems we brought up were simply met with "Sorry".
- John (4/5): Subpar which is a shame as the history and location could make this a gem. New management is needed - Great location to the Abbeville town square. Historic building was cool. Rooms were NOTHING like the ones on the website. Peeling paint, lamps that didn’t work, space heater, bathroom caulking that looked like a high school shop class job. The room we were in was unacceptable for the price we paid. My wife grew up in Abbeville and we were returning for our 35th anniversary. The hotel is in a pretty sorry state of disrepair. I understand it was built in 1903, but it looked like it hadn’t been renovated since then. I was primarily disappointed simply because the room photos on the website were so misleading. Staff was friendly but it felt like we were in an abandoned house for most of the stay. I could go on but I won’t. I will say we learned the Belmont was just purchased. The new owners need to invest some money for basic renovations. I’d also suggest bringing in new management. While the general staff were friendly and competent, the building, rooms, and overall experience was pretty bad. Reading previous reviews I think management is aware a lot of work needs to be done but apparently is not very interested in doing what needs to be done. Could be an amazing destination but I would not return based on our experience.

- Monica (2/5): - I was extremely disappointed with my stay at the Belmont. My husband and I were visiting Abbeville for a funeral on Saturday, Nov 23. The Belmont was a recommendation of my girlfriend. I didn’t get to the room until 11:30 that night. I went to take a shower and discovered a disgusting shower with mold & mildew. I couldn’t even take a proper shower because the tub was clogged, and my feet were covered with water. I was too tired to complain. When I checked out, there was no one at the front desk to complain to. Just a box to put the key in. Room #23 This hotel is in need of improvements and repairs. I do not recommend and will never stay again.

The hotel needs cleaning (carpets, floors and stained ceilings). Some of the furniture pieces are cheap junkie (not in good shape) replicas (torn chair) need to be removed. The breakfast offerings were terrible (store bought white breads and sugar) and the coffee was luke warm and barely drinkable.

- Leigh (2/5): - We were told the day we booked from their front desk that this place had electricity and WiFi shortly before arriving to get there and full property blacked out and doors barricaded - could not get service or refund or entry - complete scam/ we are hurricane evacuees and cannot afford this level of theft. This was Sunday, hurricane came early Friday morning previously. We demand apology and refund / please be safe out there, avoid climate scammers!

- Fran (8/5): - Built over 100 years ago, the Inn felt like we were stepping back in time. Modern conveniences of WiFi and TVs worked well. Quiet, clean room with a very comfortable bed. Continental breakfast included and the coffee was great. We sat on the porch in the evening and relaxed by a fire pit - the whole experience was charming and relaxing. Cost was reasonable too.

- Anettia (4/5): - We love the hotel, decor and staff. The room we were in was # 8. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, the bathroom had mold in the tub and celing above the bathtub. When taking a shower, the water did not drain out so we stood in ankle deep water. We could hear every step the person above us took, which was a lot. The lighting was very dim throughout the hotel. The breakfast was good, the staff was extremely nice. we would not stay there again unless the beds were updated, repairs done and if we were on the top floor so we couldn't hear the people above. The hotel is old, and that is part of the charm, which we liked, but needs updated rooms and bathroom.

Window air conditioner was so loud you could not hear the tv at all when it was running. The volume control on the tv did not work (? Intentionally) so tv watching was a bust. The room was exceptionally small and uninviting, totally out of character for the rest of the hotel.

Coffee was served in morning with breakfast and was very good but i am an early riser and they did not serve till 7. So without fridge or coffee pot in the room i had to wait. Otherwise this place is amazing, beautiful and the restaurant and bar downstairs had fantastic food and bar for evening.

- Brunell (6/5): The wedding was awesome. - I like the way they set up for the wedding I way in. The food way very good. The room was done very good. The bed way to high for a handicap to get in without help. The rooms on the first floor is not handicap friendly and that way where we was. He had a very difficult time getting in an out of bed and going up and down the step. Taking your luggage to the first floor room is hard for a handicap person. The ice machine was broken.

I had a very late check in (around midnight) and I’m not comfortable to continue driving or I would not have even been 10 minutes in this place! I was excited after seeing the reviews but they are sadly untrue about the condition. It’s filthy. I hate to say I’m disgusted by this place. I’m in shock by the yuck. I refuse to get under the blanket. The towels seemed new, so I was able to spread one on top of the bedspread and roll up another for a pillow. I booked a room in Greenwood for tomorrow and I’m leaving here at daybreak. There are someone else’s dirty tissues under the bed and in the drawers. The floors are dirty. The sheets look like they’ve seen better days and they’re just gritty. The shower has missing tiles. Honestly, if it was safe, I’d sleep in my rented car. Major icky factor.

- Paul (10/5): - This is our second time staying here in 3 weeks. We stayed on our way up to Ohio and stayed on our way back. We love the coziness and turn of the century charm this hotel has to offer. Very clean, comfy beds, a basic hotel room. I recommend maybe an updating of the bathroom ie. bathtub, toilet, and hair dryer. Other than that, I would stay here again if we’re ever in the area.
- Michael (8/5): - Staff was excellent!! Food in JP’s was excellent as well. Rooms need more outlets and lights. The bathroom especially the shower needs to be redone.
- HDlvDS14 (10/5): Beautiful Stay - Cute little town, very quiet. The hotel was clean and staff were nice and informative about the area. The hotel was historic and kept in original condition. The only down side was the window AC. Thankfully we brought a fan so it wasn't too bad.
- Gail (9/5): Superb - Loved the history and the location. Nothing was open at the hotel. The restaurant and bar were closed the entire stay. We were very disappointed.

- Traveler38057977687 (10/5): Historic Inn with restaurant and centrally located - Amazing stay! Centrally located on the town square across the street from the Opera House. Close to all historic sites such as Succession Hill, churches and other points of interest. The hotel has a restaurant onsite and serves an awesome Sunday brunch that people come to from miles around. Lovely stay!

- Brenda (7/5): Good place for a couple of nights. charming rooms and furniture but lighting is severely lacking. Helpful staff and rest - Great place with southern charm. Helpful staff who helped us change to another room upon check-in. Nice restaurant and bar. Rooms are extremely dark. Only 2 dim lamps in each of the rooms we rented.

- Lisa (10/5): It was a lovely hotel and liked the ambiance of an historic hotel and the hospitality. - It was a continental breakfast which was fine as we weren’t looking to eat that much. Orange juice was very good . We appreciated Jim giving us a glass of a very nice wine as the bar/restaurant was not open on Monday when we arrived.

- Orr (7/5): Very nice staff. Hotel is beautiful. - Breakfast was good. We were in room 12. Heat was “iffy” and there could have been an additional blanket. Bathroom was clean, but floor was dated. Also, bathtub needs new caulk.
