Guest Reviews
- Yesenia (7/5): - No breakfast offered
- jenkins (9/5): - The fact that it is close to town is one of the best. It’s always quiet and comfortable.
- Daniel (10/5): -
- Jane (10/5): A+ - Proximity to the tours
- Dany (4/5): - It was clean but the bed was lumpy. The shower had no water pressure. Bed lumpy. Tv very small and no water pressure in the shower.
- Amanda (8/5): - location is perfect you can walk to everything
- Bernd (1/5): - Dreckiger Fußboden. Wände nur teilweise gestrichen.
- Janine (9/5): -
- Rafael (5/5): -
- Robin (5/5): - It was close to downtown St. Augustine Not clean
- Vincent (3/5): Being an event weekend (Celtic Festival) I had to take what I could find. Would not go back, especially for the inflate - Bed was nice. It was clean. Sort of run down. Door had lots of pry marks so breaki ins must have been a problem. Overall it was clean but was missing towel rack which appeared to have been torn off the wall and not repaired. Missing toilet paper holder. Just generally not taken care of. Also very thin walls or no insulation. Banging doors and traffic noise was loud.
- Rebecca (1/5): They probably use that room for prostitution, and the state of the room was intimidating otherwise we’d have asked for a - The location The room was in total disrepair, and they were clearly not expecting guests. Smoke alarm ripped out of the wall, bottom of the front door was missing entirely, a smoked cigarello butt was left in the corner, no door knob on the bathroom door and unnamed substances were splashed on the door and walls. Took pictures but didn’t bother with a refund—we just got the hell out of there after the first night. The first night we didn’t have a choice but to stay because it was Christmas Day and there was no way we’d be off San Marco with the traffic. Won’t be back.
- Kendall (9/5): - close to everything, good price, clean.
- Jennifer (7/5): Overall, I’d be back! - Very friendly staff… There were individuals that seemed to be lurking in the parking lot near the stairs… wasn’t sure if they were long time residents… gave me the creeps!
- Heriberto (1/5): Not a pleasant - No breakfast The room itself bathroom paint pealing from celing meldow in the curtain
- Crystal (7/5): I would probably not stay here again. - The a/c worked and no one bothered us while we were on property. Room had a stale cigarette odor, Bathroom had no water pressure and temp control, towels were clean but stained, and there was only one chair to sit at the table in the room.
- Kenneth (5/5): -
- Herman (3/5): It sucked - Nothing I liked about it. It was a nasty place. That place was nasty
- Dennis (6/5): Clean, basic, good homebase, expect solvable errors. - I like the great location, the massive Oak tree in front of my room. Staff was very responsive, polite. Key card had to be reprogrammed daily. Room wasn't ready when we arrived.
- Abril (8/5): Comfortable and affordable! - Location was excellent! Hotel needs maybe a little of updating in the rooms, but it is an affordable and comfortable stay! Our room did not have fridge or microwave, but it does not matter at the end, was a good stay overall.
- Edita (9/5): Buena cómoda y agradable - Casi todo Las sábanas y toallas
- Yamil (8/5): -
- Kim (8/5): fine for what we needed - We were missing the TV remote.... bathroom window was sealed with duct tape around the edges and the broken glass bathroom window was sealed with duct tape around the edges and the broken glass
- veitia (5/5): Buena ubicación - Su ubicación El hotel no es cómodo
- christopher (2/5): - Very old and poorly maintained property and very dirty! Nothing worked right! I would not recommend staying there to anyone!
- Olivia (2/5): - Room was dirty, no staff to be found to fix it. Ac worked. Water was hot. Bed was decent. Definitely got what we paid for
- Laura (10/5): - No complaints. Staff is extremely nice. Bed was comfy. Will stay here again.
- Nicholas (2/5): - Dirty room stained towels dirty bathroom no hot water terrible smell!!
- Heuerman (10/5): -
- Kelly (2/5): - Got to room about midnight after a long drive and room wasn’t cleaned. Also the room was in in bad shape and had the feeling of not wanting to touch anything. Also sketchy people were hanging around the outside of the motel.
- Trevor (10/5): - Nice hotel
- Renu (6/5): - Pros: parking, proximity to the DT area, cold A/C, Mike was really nice and helpful, and we only saw one bug.
Cons: dirty - toilet wasn’t clean (pee splatter up the back of toilet seat), cigarette burns on duvet, stained towels and sheets, dirty and unswept floors, tape over broken window, and we woke up to a puddle of water on the ground that was seeping out of the closet.
We sort of knew what we were getting into before booking the hotel due to poor reviews. We brought our own blankets, towels, pillowcases, and sheets thankfully and I would highly recommend doing this as well. Consider it a glamping or bare bones air BNB sort of experience. The toilet worked, the shower worked, but everything was kind of gross.
Overall impression: Because of the excellent price and location, we MIGHT book this place again but only if we could clean it ourselves beforehand.
- Kevin (8/5): - Our stay was nice. Don't come here expecting a Hilton. It is a very basic motel but better than expected. With that being said it was very clean, quiet, the front desk guy was very nice and friendly. We had a problem with our shower not turning on, when it was brought up to the front desk guy, he had someone in our room in less than 5 minutes. The maintenance guy was quick and fixed it, he was very nice and in and out in no time.
Over all our stay was better than expected. The only complaint I have about this place is that there was not a microwave in the room.
The location is perfect if you want to walk to St. George Street as it's only a 7 minute walk. There is a great coffee shop 2 blocks away and many really good restaurants VERY close by.
- Stephanie (10/5): - A quaint traditional Florda motel in a quiet area within easy walking distance to St. Agustine attractions. Friendly, helpful staff and comfortable bed in an affordable, no-frills location. 10/10. Would stay again.
- Ann (10/5): - We really liked staying at Castillo Inn for our 10th anniversary. It was a quiet hotel and within walking distance of a few restaurants. I'm sure we could've walked to the historic downtown, but we both have walking challenges.
We definitely be back with our family.
- Rachel (4/5): - The room lock didn’t work and we had to go to the office to be let in every time we left our room. The beds both had sand in them, there were dead bugs on the bathroom floor the mini fridge was coated in dust and cobwebs, air hadn’t been on in the room all day and never cooled off
- Vanessa (2/5): - Definitely not a place I would ever book again. Horrible and unsafe especially for a woman traveling with her daughter
- Verified traveler (2/5): - It was very dirty, bed, floors, stains in the bedding and bed itself and hairs, it smelled of smoke. After dinner in the historic district we just left, did not stay the night.
- Kristal (1/5): Uncomfortable dirty just stood for one night and left to a different hotel - Location Dirty no phone in the room, tv didn’t work, roaches and garbage in the drawers
- Larry (6/5): - It was ok property is pld and needs work rooms smell
- Melanie (2/5): - There is a large gap at the bottom of the door. Rats and bugs could easily come into the room. The smoke detector was removed and wires dangling from the wall. Not safe. Floor was filthy. Room smelled like cigarettes and mildew. We did not feel safe staying there And could not stand the smell. We had to leave early.
- Wesley (6/5): - Room was fairly clean except for some sand on floors. No counter in bathroom. Bed and bedding were clean and reasonably comfortable. Within walking distance to old St Augustine. OK value for budget room.
- Christopher (6/5): - Staff at counter for check-in and out very friendly. Few vehicles in the parking lot. Felt empty. Lots transients walking down the sidewalk by the street. My room was depressing - dark walls, not a single picture, one window facing the lot, a small TV. Seemed clean, but found hairs on the bathroom tiles and sink. Part of the chain lock was wobbly. Cheaper option for a male solo traveler, but would not recommend this for a couple looking for something nice, definitely not for a family with small children.
- William (10/5): - All good
- DEANA (2/5): - terrible the TV was terrible. The microwave wouldn’t work. The room was not clean. I was afraid I was gonna get roaches in my luggage and it was dead roaches in the drawers. Inside the room. Just terrible run down old, not capped up holes in the wall some painted speckled over floor not cleaning up to par bathroom no place to put anything amenities. Nothing just terrible.
- Melissa (2/5): - Absolutely disgusting! Owner doesn’t care either and is very rude! DO NOT STAY HERE!
- Richard (6/5): - It’s just different the bathrooms. The shower was the problems. They are not clean
- Brandon (10/5): - Simple room but it had all you need. Very convenient location to downtown. It is a nice facility with helpful staff
- Michelle (8/5): Very good -
- Whitney (8/5): - Price was perfect , but the whole place was dirty and dingy!
- English (10/5): Exceptional - Location and price were perfect
- Jay (3/5): Location was good. - Not very clean. Very out dated.
Bathroom very out dated.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Such a cute place to stay. A little dated but great location.
- MARK (8/5): - Great value for the city centre location. Lots to see and do within a short walk.
- Angela (8/5): Very good - The big oak tree and how close it is to all the attractions There was no sign on the building to show where the hotel was. There wasn't any trash cans in the room. Our TV remote wouldn't turn the TV on/off or adjust the volume.
- Richard (8/5): Very good -
- Samantha (4/5): It’s not fir everyone/ work in progress - This is just a place to sleep if you have last minute plans downtown
It’s clean
It’s not nice
Walls are being painted, no real bed covers to make rooms look good
It’s just what it is
A bed to sleep in.
Showers only give you cool warm water.
- Kimberly (10/5): - Convenient to downtown. We were able to walk to our destinations and not have to worry about parking or uber anywhere.
- A (6/5): - My only real complaint with my stay is that we had no hot water in the shower. The manager did his best to remedy the problem but to no avail. The price is cheap and we booked last minute so that is a bonus. Overall, would stay again, granted the hot water was fixed. They also let us park our car there after we checked out, so we could walk around town. The price was right, can’t complain too much
- Ken (4/5): - I come to St. Augustine a lot and I've stayed here several times because it's cheap and convenient, never expecting the Fairmont on Knob Hill for the price, but I do expect the place to be clean and functional. The tub drain was full of nasty hair, there was no hot water, and the shower knob felt as though it would come right off. There was unpainted spackling where some repairs had been made but not finished. It was just disappointing. May not be back.
- Jarrad (10/5): - Nice model and clean
- David (2/5): - Cockroaches in the room and it was dirty and smelled of cigarette smoke.
- Richard (8/5): New owners - Room was adequate. They are under going new ownership and much needed renovations are taking place.
- Daniel (10/5): - It was absolutely stunning in St Augustine, the inn we stayed at was a block from historic downtown. Room was clean, it was a fantastic price per night.
- Dakota (1/5): Bad -
- Vyacheslav (6/5): - I like it
- Cristian (2/5): Obt got better looking hotels - In pictures looks decent but when I stayed it was a different ball game walls in our room not painted at all tv for controller didn’t work bed sheets were all stained up including bath towels they left the paper toilet half used looked like someone pooped before we checked in front desk guy was helpful that’s all
- Laffer (1/5): Bad motel not going here again - Big tree and close to down town and the reception person was nice and accommodating The facilities were dirty the lock to our door didn’t work and there was just one toilet paper that was clearly open and half used there isn’t even a sign stating what the name of the hotel is. The bathroom door didn’t close all the way.
- Angela (2/5): It was a place close to the Night of Lights so we didn't have to drive home. - location We arrived just after 3pm and were told we had to wait another 30-40 minutes to get my room.
The room looked like it was still in the process of being repaired. There were paint patches on the walls.
The spot lights from the parking lot and the light outside the door shone into the room making it very bright. Some black out drapes are desperately needed.
Also your listing said breakfast included. Well that's not true.
Another thing, when dealing with live customers, put down the phone!
- Brendan (4/5): - Me and my wife liked the convenience being close to the city area of St. Augustine. What we did not like is that we had to change rooms as the first one had a very dirty toilet and bathroom. The second room was not much better. Again toilet and bathroom was dirty and no toilet paper. Found stains on our bed sheets for the bed. We will not be going back and would not recommend people stay at this place.
- Aleyda (10/5): - Thank you
- Hugh (1/5): Bad - Nothing Very scary took us 45 minutes to find the place no sign lights when we found it had to wait 45 minutes to get register because nobody on property parking look like war zone it's just a run down place shower dirty please save your money and it's far from everything else
- Wiley (7/5): Good -
- Ayers (5/5): Def wouldn't go again - That it was close to downtown Toilet leaked around bottom
Blood, shit and puke all over the toilet seat underneath, and around the bottom of toilet...when I asked for cleaning supplies he came in and only cleaned the seat not the bottom.
Hole in the wall and spackle all over the walls ( which was there a couple months ago when our family had the same room)
Hair in the shower drain
TV settings were off and only showed 2/3 of the show on the screen
No table to eat on ( our family in the other handicap room on the same night had 2 tables)
- Chritine (3/5): Poor - Run down and looked dirty. Room wasn’t even ready at 4:45 when I arrived.
- Deborah (8/5): - Very close to shops, restaurants and sight seeing locations. Could walk everywhere, unlike other visits where we needed to drive. Free ice machine. Mini fridge was clean and had a little freezer. When I called, they brought towels right away. Updated floors and bedding. Shower was big and clean, but there was no counter space to open a make up bag and lay it down in the bathroom. We had three lamps, but the lighting was dim. Doors and windows were very old. I will definitely stay here again. The good price and convenience outweighs any downfalls from age.
- Jennifer (2/5): Very poor - The closeness to downtown St Augustine Manager was very rude, couldn't find out reservation. The whole place was dirty, old and unkept. Pics were very deceiving, as this hotel is nothing of how it's shown in the pics.
- Ashley (4/5): - This is not what you think based on the pictures. The property is run down , we checked in , went to have drinks and food , came back and there was someone else given our room - thankfully we had not brought any on our stuff in the room yet , no one was at the front desk , had to call the number, a guy answered came out unlocked the office- told us he could give us another room and that it was Orbitz fault. Not worth the stay, also looks like they have people actually living in some of the the rooms as well.
- Dayan (2/5): - He’s dirty bathroom dirty, sink was broken and they never fixed it.. I left a day early it was horrible
- Mary (6/5): - The staff was very accommodating. My reservation wasn't showing in their system but they assured me that i would be taken care of, so helpful & pleasent. The rooms were newly remodeled & i loved the location, walking distance to everything we.needed.
- Dustin (1/5): Bad -
- Hugo (4/5): - Bathroom was dirty on arrival specially the toilet and definitely overpriced, Expedia prices were way higher(double) than other websites on the same day for the same hotel. Very disappointed.
- Debbie (4/5): - The most positive thing about this property was its convenient location to all the historic attractions in St. Augustine and the free parking.
- Jack (2/5): Not a 2 or 3 star hotel - Pictures where a co.plete lie. Room was fairly well remodeled but was not clean. Upon arrival entered a room that was dirty and unmade. At 3pm check in was told "she has not gotten to it will be 30 minutes or so" 2nd room was done but not clean, stains and hair on bed under blanket. Bathroom was dirty and appeared to have not been clean.
- Renata (2/5): - That's please need to.by close by Helf department.
The price is too high hor that SH
- Maryanne (10/5): Perfect location to Old Town St Augustine… we loved it! - The location was perfect… we were within walking distance to Historic Old Town St Augustine! The Night of Lights Trolly Station was only a block away! Once we parked at the motel we never had to move our vehicle. We walked all over town to admire the Christmas ambiance! The motel owners & staff are very accommodating and kind. The facility is old but the location makes up for it!! We loved our stay… and will stay at the Castillo Inn each time we visit St Augustine!
- Mary Patricia (6/5): - Toilet hadn’t been flushed when we checked in. Room outdated but the location to historic district is great.
- Reinaldo (10/5): - Everything was good
- Yeneisy (4/5): - The property was dirty and AC did not work properly.
- Cerinda (7/5): Castillo Inn ( motel ), - it was in a great location and the room was clean there is no sign to identify the Motel
it needs updating on the outside and if I had known how it looked on the outside probably would have looked elsewhere and even made my husband check the room before going in!!
- Michael (4/5): Good location & value but not great quality - The location is great. Old and run down for the most part. Seemed a little sketchy and not the cleanest.
- Breanne (8/5): I always stay here for work because of its central location - Central location
- Verified traveler (4/5): Only beds, nothing else - The room had 2 beds, 2 tables, an oven and a mini fridge. Literally only that. No chair to sit or not even a iron board. The bathroom window was half open and it was bringing in cold air into the room (in winter). The soap and shampoo were there for namesake. If we had an option we would have definitely went somewhere else, but it was cold and windy when we checked in and with kids did not have time to check another place.
- Stuart (8/5): Very good - Clean, comfortable and close to where I needed to be for the Eric Church gig. Friendly fast check in and out. Hotel was basic but clean and exactly what I needed for 1 night. Value for money compared to some of the other options which were 400 / 500 for a single night.
- Rick (5/5): Passable - It was nothing like the photos
- Bonnie (4/5): - Room not made up from previous guest. Had to get different room
- Christopher (6/5): - Basic low budget motel. Room did have a tv and fridge. Main light did not work, which made it tricky when checking in at night. Should probably pull shower drain and clean all the hair out of it. If you just need a place to sleep for a night or two, it will do.
- Beverly (10/5): - It’s not the Ritz but to us it is! We are simple people who truly enjoy staying here!
- Audhemar (3/5): Poor -
