Guest Reviews
- Melissa (10/5): -
- Melisa (10/5): - La piscina Los baño compartido
- Amy (8/5): - Staff, quiet. The room was small. A bit dusty. We went on St. Patrick's Day. The corned beef dinner made me sick
- Brian (3/5): - Convenience to my daughter's place Too rustic, don't need the mastalgia of the Masons... A TV bathroom would be nice for $200
- Church (10/5): We loved our weekend getaway here. - Beautiful, self contained. Lots to do and see.
- Heather (10/5): McMenamins Hotel is a beautiful property and a unique stay. Can't wait to return! - This is a beautiful property. Even though I chose the shared bathroom experience I had the bathroom to myself at all times for showers and general usage. The staff was fantastic and I used room service which was a delight. N/a

- Stephney (10/5): We had a wonderful time. -
- Brad (10/5): - It is always a fun place to stay and explore Plus great food and beer Nothing
- Mika (7/5): - Property in itself is beautiful, everything is well decorated and is definitely the mcmenamins vibe, restaurant, bars and soaking pool were great, had difficulty at check in with getting a good room at first, only one girl up front and no one else working the hotel but her and her rooms were incorrectly marked in her list for availability we ran into a room that needed maintenance and 2 rooms that definitely needed some cleanup, but the front desk girl was very accommodating at check in and deeply apologized, we get it, we’ve both worked in hotel service. Once we got to our final room everything was bliss and we had a wonderful trip, great room service, the whole nine yards was awesome.
- Trevor (8/5): Love McMenamins. Every stay is like being in an art museum. - Ironworks, as everywhere in the hotel, is beautiful and artful. Breakfast was very good. Our server was attentive, but not invasive. She was happy to change some ingredients of our burrito to suit our diet. I'm disappointed that McMenamins hasn't embraced the fact that around 10% of light duty vehicles today are EVs. Electric Vehicle Charging stations are essential. I had to walk around a mile, in the pouring rain, to return to the Grand Lodge while my car was charging at the Ford dealership.

- Erin (7/5): - The ability to explore and having a fun time doing it We didn't get to explore as much as we would've liked, but it was too hot and no ac in the building itself. Thankfully, the rooms had it. But we knew what we were getting into so it was the only thing we didn't enjoy
I didn't like that we didn't see or smell any spirits
- Dean (10/5): Quiet and peaceful sleep - Didn’t have breakfast
- Robert (10/5): - This is the coolist place ever! Probably not for everyone but we love it, very eclectic and unlike any place you have been.
- Joseph (9/5): It was convenient and unique. - Full facilities, from multiple dining facilities to a soaking pool.
- Jamie (10/5): -
- Barbara (10/5): -
- Dana (10/5): - Exceeded my expectations
- Jeremy (2/5): Unexpected Bad Stay - Terrible place, no amenities for business travelers. No refrigerators, microwaves, or TV. Not a hotel for business travelers. This is a unique hotel for those wanting to explore local history but not for comfort, convenience and amenities for those traveling for business.
- B4858JLdeborahn (10/5): Simple, cozy convenience, plus history and architectural preservation - We overnighted in Forest Grove to attend a graduation. The Grand Lodge, a repurposed 1922 former Masonic retirement home, feels cozy, comfortable and very non-corporate. Our second floor room was quiet and refreshingly simple, decorated in calm, muted colors. It had a really good closet, with excellent shelves. The gorgeous hand stenciling, and wall paintings related to Forest Grove history, made the room beautiful. Like the entire building, our private bathroom was solidly built and functional. The hotel provided two strong glass tumblers for the bathroom and two good mugs for morning use at the coffee service in the lobby. Despite the vintage ambience, our room had lots of convenient outlets for charging electronic devices. These thoughtful touches made the hotel feel luxurious even though the price is mid-range. We were happy to be able to take advantage of the restaurant for a late dinner and an early breakfast; the food and service were totally fine. The McMenamins chain deserves a lot of credit for preserving many fabulous old buildings around the Northwest. This seems like one of their best efforts.

- Kathleen (8/5): - We got a king bed for a $ increase but more comfortable for us!
- Polly (10/5): So relaxing - The bed and linens were so comfy! I really needed the relaxation time. And we enjoyed the soaking pool and the gardens and the food. Thank you for the attention to detail!

- Vicki (9/5): Superb -
- Jeannette (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lisa (8/5): Restful - History Much easier closed but it was midweek.
- Willam (8/5): - It was a nice relaxing 30th Anniversary trip for us. We mostly brought our own food or ate elsewhere because prices were more expensive even for happy hour than we planned but other than that we enjoyed our stay.
- Jennifer (2/5): - I have never in my life stayed in such an awful place. It was louder than a stadium. People are hanging around in the halls, playing instruments in their rooms, and downstairs there is a band playing as loud as a stadium rock band. Then I showed up and there was no bathroom or shower in my room. I went downstairs and said, "I am leaving. I can't stay here." The woman said, "Ok," and then they didn't cancel the room, and I got a check out link the next day, and when I called, no one knew anything and refused to help me in anyway claiming I didn't talk to anyone when I talked to a man and a woman behind the desk. No one should ever come to this place ever. I paid all of this money and had to go to the Marriott that was heaven by comparison.
- R3050YTmaryw (2/5): Worst place ever - This is the absolute worst place I have ever stayed in my life. Right now there is blaring music downstairs that ‘might’ stop at 10pm. There is no bathroom or shower in the room, a total shock to me. There are people who are loud, playing music everywhere and a fly is buzzing around my head right now. Someone started playing guitar next door. This is the worst place I’ve ever been.
- Holly (10/5): - I love staying at all of the McMenamins properties!
- Linda (10/5): - I like the uniqueness and history of the property. It is so much fun to stay there.
- Karen (10/5): FUNTASTIC STAY. - Fun place to stay, found the secret passageway. The room was lovely n comfortable. Nothing
- Joshua (10/5): Awesome stay! - Staff were super friendly, a major improvement from past visits! Everything was excellent!
- Joel and Julia (10/5): - Amazing little paradise hidden away 💕
- Verified traveler (10/5): Mcminnemins Magic - Always a good stay with many options to dine and enjoy☆
- Rick (8/5): Before Booking - I didn't realized that when I booked thr room it had no bathroom and I have to get up several times a night to go to the bathroom (not convenient) but the hotel and people were great. We only stayed one night. I have to say it was a very nice place.
- Kim (6/5): - I love the property, it's gorgeous. The service was not as awesome. We went out to the restaurant outside because the hotel website said they served pizza out there. We got out there, waited a long time to be seated, waited still for someone to take a drink order, and when we said we wanted to order pizza, they said they didn't serve it anymore and and hadn't taken it off the menu. This also happened while ordering drinks at another bar, out of ingredients and a cocktail on the menu that wasn't available any more
- Janet (8/5): Very good -
- Mark (10/5): - The front desk was so accommodating and kind, great place!
- Judith (9/5): Superb - Art, food, gardens, pet-friendly, beds…. Every now and then it’s nice to watch the morning news on TV… there was none in the main floor rooms.
- Peter (8/5): Very good -
- Ronald (10/5): - One of our favorite McMenamin locations. Historic building, great soaking pool and lots of funky places to grab a bite and a beverage. The grounds are very walkable.
- Judith (8/5): I stay here a lot, and love it. - Good, art, pet friendly, lovely large gardens
- Whittall (10/5): Exceptional -
- Daniel (10/5): - Great hotel. Multiple bars to choose from even on a Monday evening. Highly recommend
- Halvorson (8/5): Would definitely stay again - The whole atmosphere was great I personally believe all single bed rooms need to be king size beds. Queen size beds are too small for two people, especially when the two people are not small people. Husband is 6'4. The mattress itself was comfortable, but the size was not. But that was the worst part of the stay. Everything else was great.
- B (10/5): - Great joint with great stuff to do and see for all kinds of travelers!
- Jennifer (8/5): Great spot for a quick getaway - First time visiting the Grand Lodge and staying at a McMenamins. We really enjoyed the outside space and this spot is pet friendly too. Will stay here again.
- Brad (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rudy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Antonio (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maria (9/5): Superb -
- Ortiz (8/5): Very good -
- Peggy (9/5): Excellent cozy place to relax - The history & beautiful historical building with fun funky interior. Pool was awesome. Staff very kind, available & helpful. Theater was closed was the only bummer.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice night
- Rufus (10/5): Would definitely recommend - Gardens and historic properties
- Sieuinac (10/5): - If you’re familiar with the McMenamins properties, then you will enjoy staying at this wonderful place. From catching a movie to sitting by a fire place, to soaking in the beautifully heated pool, it was the perfect place to do an over night couples trip. My only recommendation is if you want to sleep in then I suggest you request a room that is not facing the heated pool but if you are an early riser, then being close to the heated, pool is just a perfect place to be.
- Zapp (10/5): Exceptional -
- Zapp (10/5): Exceptional -
- ia173 (10/5): Funky & Fun - My sister and I enjoyed a soak in the outdoor soaking pool and a yummy dinner for President's day.
The pool was deliciously warm and the company great. After soaking we went to the main restaurant in the lodge and shared the flat bread with goat cheese and figs and the Truffle fries. Yummy!
- Peggy (10/5): - Such a fun place
- Robert (10/5): - The hotel was a very interesting hotel. Very cool atmosphere. Kinda Alice in wonderland vibe. The staff was very friendly. I really liked the food at the restaurant. I had a great time during my stay.
- Justin (10/5): Unique and cozy - Hotel is very unique and super cool. Great amenities on site.
- Madeline (10/5): Exceptional - Love everything about this place 💕 Wish the theatre would have been open
- Jim (10/5): - As always it was lovely. Enjoyed a nice dinner and drinks by the fireplace later.
- April (10/5): - I just love the decor and ambiance and staff of Mcmenamins!
- Julia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stuart (10/5): - Cant wait to go back
- Sydney (10/5): Exceptional -
- Renee (10/5): Live music - Great site for a destination… plenty to enjoy on site.. great intimate live music… wife and I really enjoyed our stay
- Joel (10/5): - As always, great experience at the Grand Lodge!
- Kris (10/5): - Love the soaking pool and the pizza!
- Curtis (10/5): Exceptional - Spa, hot tub, movie theater
- Robert (10/5): - Soaking pool is nice
- James (10/5): Great service - Whoever was working, A young lady on the evening of 12/16/24 was extremely helpful and wanted to make sure we had everything and let us know of all amenities of the hotel.
- Tim (6/5): - Historical building, but kind of forces the lodging of the past experience on you.
Not really my thing, but it was ok.
The bed was not comfortable in our room. Actually pain inducing.
- Julia (8/5): - I love the Grand Lodge. The grounds are big, and in spring and summer the landscaping is really lovely. It’s less impressive around November, though there was still some fall color left on some trees.
The building is expansive, and there are little details everywhere to pique visitors’ interests, from stories about guestrooms namesakes painted on the walls, to unique pieces of artwork in the hallways, or photos of celebrity guests. The dining room is lovely and cozy, and the menu always features delicious dishes, and interesting in-house beers, ciders, and cocktails.
The soaking pool is my favorite part of this McMenimans location. Sitting in the pool at night while the water jets gurgle, and the steam rises, looking up at the overhanging canopy of trees lit by the dim lighting… it’s a unique, relaxing, and inviting ambiance.
We enjoyed a movie at the cozy and charming historic theater, which offers a small menu of food and drinks guests can enjoy during the show.
My only complaint is the rooms are quite small. I booked a Queen room on the first floor that had a “common” bathroom, which means a shared bath down the hallway. The room itself had a small sink, mirror, and a closet, and a small amount of walking space around the bed. The curtains need repairing or replacing. And it would be nice if there were also sheer curtains to allow light in while maintaining privacy. Otherwise the bed was comfortable and the room was cozy. I look forward to returning soon!
- Eddie (10/5): - It was my wife's first visit. She loved the artwork, secret rooms and treasure hunt. Very friendly staff all around and beautiful grounds.
- Lancaster (8/5): Very good - Breakfast was satisfactory. For our purposes, the location was perfect. I was in room 126 (light bulb room) and the toilet has a slow internal leak, which caused it to refill frequently. I'm a light sleeper, so the sound kept me partially awake during the night. I notified the desk clerk and told her to wait until I left to fix the problem.
- Jenny (10/5): Go to for Forest Grove. - The Grand Lodge is my "go to" for Forest Grove. On site restaurants and comfortable rooms.
- Grace (10/5): - Absolutely loved staying here and can't wait to stay again!
